Define logical system

Hi Gurus,
I installed BI7, and want to be define logical system for creating client. I login from default user sap*/DDIC, IMG, transaction SALE), choose Bisic Setting-> Logical Systems->® Define Logical System; I received message can not create for this user, only display.
Please help me, how I can create logical system?
Thanks
Shahid

in which client have you tried creating logical system by using SAP* and DDIC
First create BASIS userid in that client and do the changes in SCC4 and SE06. Then define logical system for your client in the format <SID><CLNT><Clint NO.>
Hope this would help you.

  • Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports

    Hi experts
I would like to know if someone used the mentioned functionality 'Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports, I would like to know too IF I create a Z REPORT for example in webdynpro and insert it in this configuration it will work and where it will appear in sourcing cockpit?
    sds.
    Javier

    Hello Muthu,
BW reports will be shown in SRM Box if the corresponding BW roles for SRM are integrated with SRM roles.
You might to activate the corresponding datasource of this in SRM.
And since you have to connect the source system to BW, I think you have to define SRM system as logical system in BW.

  • Local logical system is not defined

    Hello
We are trying to setup a logical system  - created or defined the logical system
when we try the BD64 it gives out the error "Local Logical system not defined"
I am using ECC 6 version
IS there any way to bypass  and do the setup ?

    HI Anil,
Best Methodology for creating a RFC Destination that also includes setting up <b>Logical System</b> is:
    <b>Use Transaction -> SALE /b]
    1) <b>Define Logical system :</b>
Select Idoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) -> Basic Setting -> Logical System -> Define Logical System
    <b>
    2) Assign Client to Logical system:</b>
Select Idoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) -> Basic Setting -> Logical System -> Assign Logical System to Client
    <b>3) Create RFC Destination: T-CODE (SM59)</b>
Select Idoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) -> Basic Setting -> Communication -> Create Rfc Connection
Follow steps in sequence. Hope it answers every thing.
    Cheers,

  • Defining a Logical System

I'm trying to follow the Best Practices note, "B84: BI Connectivity" for SAP BW 7.0 dated August, 2007.
On the second step, 1.2, "Defining a Logical System", I reach the second sub-step, clicking "Define Logical System". After the harmless warning, "Caution: The table is cross-client", then I get an error.
If I'm logged in as SAP* (client 000), I get the error, "No changes for user SAP* allowed".
If I'm logged in as ddic (client 000), I get the error, "User DDIC may not make changes in customer systems".
I'm still very new to SAP and don't understand these kinds of permissions issues at all. Two questions:
    1) How can I resolve this issue?
    2) Is there a good book that I can read to understand these kinds of administrative issues better?

    Hi,
you to login as a development user or administration user into your BI client (100 e.g) but not as SAP oder ddic which are reserved users with special authorizations. Client 000 is a special client used for installation and creating the working or devleoping client where you set up /customize your BI later.
With htis development user you can then change the logical systems table, which is valid for all clients in te system!
    Hope you got an idea

    Hi Dudes
Do we need to define logical system and RFC destination if they are in different clients in same server

    Hi
Both are client independent setting, so even if you define in one client, it would be available in other clients also.

  • Create Logical System in R/3 system

    Hi all,
I am  trying to define logical system for xMII server in R/3 system using SALE transaction. But the logical system for xMII server doesn't already exist. So I have chosen to create one. Seems there is format like <sys_id>'CLNT'<client>.
    1) How to create logical system for xMII server in this format?
    2) How does R/3 know in which host xMII server is running? Do we specify that somewhere? Is there any other configurations for linking xMII host and logical system?
I am new to xMII and so not aware of the steps. Please help me out.
Points will be rewarded for helpful answers.
    Regards,
    Harini S

    Harini
    Welcome to xMII.
Though i nvr used such things from the SAP R/3 system side, i think the logical system name format must be something like <b>SAPSYS<Number></b> for SAP Connection <b>BUSCON<Number></b> for Business Connector. After hving defined the Logical System in R/3 System, u need to configure the <b>SAP Business Connector Interface</b> Action in xMII-based Business Logic Services.

    Hi Branko,
After the system copy, go to transaction SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Define Logical System , click New Entries and create a new logical system for your QAS; then go to SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Assign Client to Logical System, click on the client, click change and assign the new Logical system.

  • ALE logical system to client

    Hi,
Is assignment of SAP logical system to client mandatory...
I understand that we can give dummy names like SAP_A as logical systems but is it mandatory to assign them to clients..
I think Idoc can be sent to the respective SAP system through ports instead of a particular LS

this client assignment to logical system is about your sending system.
the steps for ALE config are following only:
    1)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Basic Settings > Logical systems > Define Logical System
    2)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Logistics <-> External Systems > External Transportation Planning Systems > Maintain ALE Port Definition (Transaction WE21)
    3)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) >  Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Global Organizational Units > Cross-System Company Codes (Transaction OB72, SALE, OBB5)
    4)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) >  Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Maintain Distribution Model and Distribute Views (Transaction BD64)
    5)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) >  Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Master Data Distribution > Proposal for distribution model: Customer and vendor masters (Transaction WYL2)
    6)     IMG > SAP NetWeaver > Application Server > IDoc Interface / Application Link Enabling (ALE) > Modelling and Implementing Business Processes > Configure Predefined ALE Business Processes > Logistics > Logistics <-> External Systems > External Transportation Planning Systems >  Maintain ALE Partner Profiles (Transaction WE20)

  • Logical System not maintained

    Dear Experts,
I need to generate JVRD condition idoc using FV13 for a new site for some articles.JVRD condition is maintained in SAP.But when i try to send the condition type using the above t-code it generates no Idoc and shows me the message
Segment is not intended for reciever  LS_E111. However for other stores its running f9.Do i need to maintain or define Logical System 'LS_E111' some where for this new site? I hv already checked in WE20 for partner profile .Pls help

    Hello,
I'm not familiar with JVRD. Have you checked the receiver port in WE21 and SM59? You can find the receiver port in WE20 outbound parameters

  • Logical System Name changing

    Dear Team,
We had upgraded BI system from 3.0B to BI 7.0. At the time of upgrade dev
copy(shadow system) logical system was not changed because most of the data is coming from ETL. Now we want to test the extraction from R/3 Dev.
R/3 Dev is already connectwed to BW dev 3.0B, Now we need to test
extraction from R/3 Dev to BW dev copy server( NW2004SR1 ).
Here we are facing a problem with Logical system. While upgrading the
same logical sys was copied to BW dev copy.
What is the procedure to change the existing logical system name in BW
dev copy and establish connectivity with R/3 dev?
what is the impact if we run BDLS transaction.
    Thanks& Regards,
    Satish.K.Neni

    Hi Satish,
Go to transaction SALE -> Basic settings -> Logical systems -> execute "Define logical system" to create a new logical system -> then execute "Assign Logical System to Client"
    That should solve your problem

  • Logical System for Role Integration Server

    Dear all,
I need your help to clear my confuse. From ID I had assign business system as defined by Role Integration Server but when I check Adapter-Specific Identifiers, nothing show in Logical System. I already define Logical system in SLD. but I'm not sure incase of Role Integration Server will show logical system same with role Application System or not. becasue the other one as role Application System it's fine.
    Thanks and Regards
    Park

    Hi Park,
I could not clearly understand your question .But i think you want to know the roles of the Integration server and Application system.I would like to share some thing on their difference .Hope this will clearify you.
A business system can be configured as an Integration server or Application system:
      Integration Server
The Integration server executes only integration logic available Integration Builder. They can also be identified as Pipe Line Steps. It receives XML message, determines the receiver, executes the mappings, and routes the XML message to the corresponding receiver systems. Thus configured Integration Engine is identified to be Central Configured Integration engine.
Note: Only one client of SAP system can be configured as Integration Server.
       Application system
The Application system will not execute the integration logic. It in turn calls the integration server to execute the integration logic if required. It acts as sender or receiver of XML messages. So, the Application system with a local Integration Engine requires the Integration server to execute the integration logic
    Thanks,
    Ram.

  • Logical System for Transaction Launcher??

    Dear all,
Should we define logical system for Transaction Launcher to call transactions from back end ECC system. If yes, why we do this and where we maintain the logical systems?
Can we use existing ECC logical system, whcih mapped with SAP CRM system?
Where can we define the logical system for Transaction Launcher?
Please clarify my doubts to complete this process successfully, your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Raghu ram.

    Hi Raghu Ram
In order to call an transaction from ECC, you should choose the logical system of the ECC System itself. You will get the information regarding the logical name assigned to your ECC System using the tcode SM59. The logical system must have been defined for the ECC System before you integrated CRM to backend ECC.
Check the tcode SM59 and you will find logical name of your ECC System there.
And yes, you are suppose to use the existing ECC logical system, which is mapped with SAP CRM system.
    Hope this helps

  • Assign Logical System both in GTS and R3

    Hello all,
We are using Two different system for R3 and GTS , and defined logical system both systems ( for R3 QR1CLNT100 and for GTS QG1CLNT100 , now do I need to assign logical system both system for clients in R3 and GTS ( I mean at the time of assignment both clients QR1CLNT100 & QG1CLNT100 i have to assign in both systems  or only one.   For Feeder system only I need to assign GTS system logical system as QG1CLNT100 vice versa ( for GTS system need to only Feeder system logical client QR1CLNT100)
Thanks in advance for valuable inputs.
    Thanks & Regards
    Tarun

There are following steps  for doing connection between R/3 and GTS
    1. Define Logical System
Here you have to define both R/3 logical system as well as
      GTS logical system.
    2. Assign Logical System.
Here actually when u get in you will see the physical system
detail on which you are logged in , suppose you are on R/3 you will find detail of R/3 system with different clients. Some clinet willcome as default like 00 which is waldrof client the SAP client and other are are those which are created at the time of installation.
Here you have to assign the logical system of R/3 to the physical system client combination on which you looged in.
you will find a field  of logical system on the top once you get in detail of the client system combination.
Now here we have assigned the Logical system of R/3 this is required as when GTS will communicate wiht R/3 it willtry to look for  R/3 logical system as for RFC connection we always define logical system to which the system will talk.
this configuration we do under Maintain RFC connection for RFC call Tcode SM59
    3.  Maintain RFC connection for RFC call Tcode SM59.
Here we define the Target host, and logon detail like
       language , client, user passwaord.
We need to define the detail for GTS for RFC connection and   so we need here the logical system of GTS.
    4. Maintain RF destination for method call
Here again you will require GTS logical system .
    5. Maintain ALE distribution here you will require both R/3 and GTS logical system.
    Hope it helps
    Kind Regards,
    Sameer
