Define pattern with transformed selection?

(PS CS5 or PS CS6, Windows 7 64 bit)
I hope someone can help me puzzle out what is happening here. I want to select part of an image to turn into a pattern.
If I make a selection using the Rectangular Marquee Tool, I can go to Edit - Define Pattern to define a new pattern based on that selection. So far, so good.
If I make my original selection bigger by using Select - Transform Selection and commiting the transformation, the Edit - Define Pattern option is still available. This is the behavior I expect.
If I make my original selection smaller by using Select - Transform Selection and commiting the transformation, the Edit - Define Pattern option is greyed out. This is what puzzles me.
Is there an explanation for this behavior?

Yep, that's right, the selections in Photoshop is the same as scaling pixels. Think of them as temporary alpha masks. In the Preferences > General, If you change the Image Interpolation to Nearest Neighbor, you will not have that problem.

Cannot Define New Pattern from Transformed Selection

I am having some trouble making a new pattern from a selection in Photoshop CS6. If I simply use the rectangular selection tool over an area that I would like to make a new pattern from, I can go to Edit > Define Pattern to make a new pattern from my selection. However, if I transform the selection or create a selection using ctrl-click on a layer, the option Edit > Define Pattern is unavailable. I haven't been able to find anything online that explains why this would happen, so I've decided to try my luck here. Any insight will be appreciated! Thank you!

conroy2009: I used the rectangular selection tool and the option was there; when using the Transform Selection (feathering is not an option for that as far as I know) command and after positioning it correctly and accepting the new selection, the Define Pattern is not an option. I don't believe feathering is involved. However, perhaps the Transform Selection does anti-alias for some reason... which kind of irritates me. I just want to be able to make a more specific selection without using the pen tool for a simple rectangle. Strange that it would also apply an effect. :/ So, do other people just use the rectangular selection tool and get the exact position correct on the first shot?

Route pattern with called party transformations

i wanto to add route pattern with transformation
i want to add RP with 9.001! predot
and want to convert to 9.01017! with called party transformations.
How we replace ! ? i've tried and it's error with message
Called Party Transform Mask - allowed characters are numeric (0-9),plus (+),asterisk (*),pound (#),X.
I've give screen shot for the configuration
Please anybody help.

You can create the RP with 9001.! and in the called party, discard predot and prefix 901017.

Define pattern not accessible

Photoshop CS6 I am facing a problem with Define Pattern function
Preferences have been reset = no change
The problem
with any picture, or new page, using a rectangular marquee to define the pattern, "Edit Menu"
has only Define Brush preset" highlighted = not possible to "Define pattern"
With the same picture or any RGB picture, if I remove the rect marquee, then Define Pattern becomes accessible, and works
but for the all page
It is probable a silly setup somewhere, but I don't find a clue at the moment
Is there someone with a clue of what can be done to reset the "Define Pattern"?

I suppose that's possible, but then that raises another interesting
question. Why would marquee selection + invert + delete NOT actually
remove the pixels it should?
That would delete any non-contiguous pixels, but why do you think it that would affect some the the semi-opaque pixels on the edge?
Here is a very exaggerated example of what I think is happening. Note the edge pixels have some transparency:
Cmd+Clicking to select the gray square creates a selection retaining the transparency. The Rectangular Marquee and other selection tools do not.

CS4 Define Pattern Acting Weirdly!!! Pleas Help (with screenshot)!!!

I'm try to define a 20x20 pixel pattern for infill to create an old crt monitor effect. But Photoshop won't let me define the whole 20x20 but only allows me a 20x1 strip. (I've selected the whole image) There's also a weird "16" at the corner of the defined pattern. I've never had this issue before. Anybody know what's going on??

Well, the 16 or 32 flag is how Photoshop tells you that the pattern was defined in 16 or 32 bit/channel.
Is part of your image on different layers that aren't selected?
If you had selected the top half of your image, then you might get a single pixel (because the rest is a replication of the top row, and filling with a pattern would get the same result).

Define pattern from selection PSE7

I have both PSE6 and PSE7. Is there a reason that the area for "define pattern from selection" is grayed out in PSE7 but not in PSE7. Is there something I have to change in the settings to get it to work in PSE7?

Next time, just try deleting the settings file: quit the editor, then restart it while holding down ctrl+alt+shift. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings. Say yes.

Hi ya'll, I'm having problems with patterns. Error 519, what's going on?? URGENT!!! Can't seem to fill layers with user defined patterns

I've never had this problem before, I noticed improvements a few days ago regarding pattern tool but the last few days I've been unable to fill layers with a user defined pattern. This is one of the main reasons I use photoshop and it's giving me a headache!!! I have to turn in some patterns by monday and this is not working, please fix it!!

Why is define pattern grayed out?

Why is define pattern grayed out? I have an area selected with a texture. RGB 8 bit. Photoshop CC2014.

I have the same problem! And yes, I'm using rectangular marquee as always. Can't define custom shapes either so far :/

Feature Request - better croping, focus patterns,focal length selections?

Tool specific Keyboard shortcuts: It would be helpful to have popup clues about keyboard shortcuts. For example, when using the crop tool, it is not obvious that typing an "X" will change the crop tool from a portrait to landscape mode or repeatedly pressing "O" will cycle through a number of grids. (Thank you Matt!)
Crop at other than "Fit" setting: Other crop tool request - allow crop to work on image at settings other than "fit" I may be able to get a more accurate crop at 1:2, etc. Otherwise I have to crop an image roughly, make a virtual copy and then crop again. Is there a better way to do this?
Show Focus Points on request: If you shoot wildlife with a long lens, a slight error in focus can ruin the shot. I review my bad shots to determine patterns of error in focusing. It would be helpful to see the focus points that were used in Lightroom, (e.g. killer whales move differently than an egret....) I assume this is stored in the metadata. I'd love to be able to do this in Lightroom.
Add Focal Length to filterable metadata fields: It would help to be able to see the various focal lengths used during a shoot, just like you can look at apertures (i.e. select folder for shoot, turn on filters, select aperture in the metadata and wallah! you can see the distribution of apertures used during a shoot.) This reminds you to mix it up and/or helps with lens selection. Is there a way to do this now?
My apologies if these features are available and I just haven't found them yet.

P.S. Thank you for the wonderful new features. I can't wait to convert my existing catalogs. I love the new import dialog. Now I can organize my backup copy in a logical fashion. When I'm in the field on a multi-day shoot, I don't want to risk reorganizing the backup. Now I don't need to. Enough has been said about noise reduction and better rendition. Thank you!!!

How to call the same query more than once with different selection criteria

Please do anybody know how to solve this issue? I need to call one query with the fixed structure more than once with different selection criteria. For example. I have following data
Sales organization XX
                     Income 2008 Income 2009
Customer A       10                 20
Customer B        30                  0
Sales organization YY
                     Income 2008 Income 2009
Customer A        20                5
Customer B        50                10
Now, I need this. At the selection screen of query, user fill variable charakteristic "Sales organization" with interval XX - YY, than I need to generate two separate results per sales organization, one for Sales Organization XX and the second for SO YYwhich will be displayed each on separate page, where result for SO YY will be dispayed under result for SO YY. Are there some options how to do it for example in Report Designer or WAD or with programming? In Report Designer is possible to use one query more than once, but I dont know how to force each query in RD to display result only for one Sales Organization, which will be defined in selection screen.

thanks to all for cooperation. Finally we solved this issue with the following way..
User fill appropriate SO on the selection screen, which is defined as range. This will resulte, that selected SO are listed in report below each othe (standard behavior). Required solution we achieved with the Report Designer, we set page break under each Result row of RD. This caused, that report is divided into required part per SO, which are stated each on separate page.

Performance issue after Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with a select query

This query is working fine when executed in 4.7 system where as it is running for more time in ECC6.0.
Select query is on the table COSP.

I have checked with the table indexes, they were same as in 4.7 system.
What can be the reson for the difference in execution time. How can this be reduced without adjusting the select query.

ohhhhh....... lots of problems in select query......this is not the way you should write it.
Some generic comments:
1. never use SELECT
                   endselect.
   SELECT
into table
   for all entries in table
where.
   use perform statment after this selection.
2. Do not use into corresponding fields. use exact structure type.
3. use proper sequence of fields in the where condition so that it helps table go according to indexes.
    e.g in your case
          sequence should be
LEDNR
OBJNR
GJAHR
WRTTP
VERSN
KSTAR
HRKFT
VRGNG
VBUND
PARGB
BEKNZ
TWAER
PERBL
sequence should be same as defined in table.
Always keep select query as simple as possible and perform all other calculations etc. afterwords.

Unable to fetch records from database with huge selection screen

Hi all,
I have 20 fields from selection screen.
I have a z table with these 20 fields .
Now with the values entered in the selection screen i have to fetch the records from the z table.
All fields in the selection screen are not mandatory, the user may or may not enter the values.
I have to fetch the records based on the values entered.
I wrote a select with where condtion to all those 20 fields. but its not retreving the records.
All the fields in the selection screeen are parameters.
Could you help me on this, please. I wrote in the where conditon with field1 = value AND field 2 = value.. etc... field20 = value.
Please guys help me out.

I have a problem with the select query.
as i said i have 20 fields, ranges are working for few fields.
But i have couple of fields as descriptions. So i have to fetch the records for pattenr as well.
Means, user can enter in the description............. like    "ab". So in the description if there is anything   with 'ab' it should fetch.
it works with a LIKE statement with % symbols.
but it doenst work with   ranges and patterns in same select. I mean the below is not working.
SELECT *
         FROM crmd_orderadm_h
         INTO table itab
         WHERE object_id IN r_obj AND
               process_type IN r_pro AND
               description LIKE s_des.
r_obj, r_pro are ranges and s_des is the pattern, ex: %ab%.              so in this case how it has to be done... could you please help me on this.. the other fields could be blank( r_obj and r_pro)..

Problem with transforming coordinate systems

Hiho,
i've got a problem with transforming coordinate systems.
When I'm trying to transform a sdo_geometry object to another coordinate sytem and then back to the old system, the coordinates are not the same.
Here's an example:
StartSystem SRID is 8220 (Longitude / Latitude (DHDN))
TargetSystem SRID is 8307 (Longitude / Latitude (WGS84))
Original object:
Polygon: {ExteriorRing: LineString: { (0.0, -90.0) (1.5, 0.0) (0.0, 90.0) (4.5, 0.0) (0.0, -90.0)} }
Transformed object:
Polygon: {ExteriorRing: LineString: { (0.0, -5156.620156177403) (85.94366926962347, 0.0) (0.0, 5156.620156177403) (257.8310078088704, 0.0) (0.0, -5156.620156177403)} }
Transformed back to old system:
Polygon: {ExteriorRing: LineString: { (0.0, -5156.620156177403) (4924.209525017614, 0.0) (0.0, 5156.620156177403) (14772.628575052844, 0.0) (0.0, -5156.620156177403)} }
Any ideas what to do?

Since the transform you are trying to do is just a datum conversion of lat./long. coordinates, even the first transform yields obvious rubbish. What you have provided here does not illustrate how you submitted your polygon to CS_TRANSFORM.
Provide the syntax of your construction of the corresponding SDO_GEOMETRY object and your SQL select statement that gave these results.

MERGE can UPDATE existing rows, and INSERT new rows at the same time. In a MERGE statement, you give a table or a sub-query in the USING clause, and define how rows from that result set match rows in your destination table. If rows match, then you can UPDATE the matching row with values from the sub-query.
Very often, MERGE is easier to use, and perhaps more efficient, than UPDATE just for changing existing rows. That is, while MERGE can do both INSERT and UPDATE, it doesn't have to . You can tell MERGE just to do one or the other if you wish.

If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.

Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.

How to define parameters with radio button, but that radio button should display in front of the variable name not after variable name. and under that radio button variable I hve to define parameters, select-options and some other radiobutton varibles.
