DEFINE statement in Scripts
Hi all,
I am using the command DEFINE in my script.
Syntax /: DEFINE &TEXT& = 'XXX'.
The variable TEXT has been assigned a default length of 80 characters.
Can anyone let me know how can I change this length to user defined value say 150.
Regards,
Senthil G.
you can not change the length..if you want to display 50 char lentgth then use like
/: PERFORM NAME IN PROGRAM NAME
/: USING &URTEXT&
/: CHANGING &GETTEXT&
/;ENDPERFORM.
Create a program in se38 then declare a variable in se38 length should be 50 char,
then pass that 50char lenth to changin parameters..
Reward Points if it is helpful
Thanks

Define Statements in SQL Developer
Hi,
I'm really new to SQL Developer and I'm having one or two issues.
The most annoying is to do with Define statements.
Say I have the following script to run -
define p_start_date = TO_DATE('01-Jan-2010','DD-Mon-YYYY');
SELECT &&p_start_date
FROM dual;
What I find is that putting the cursor before the first define and then hitting the 'Execute Statement' button does nothing. No output is given.
I have to press the 'Run Script' button instead which does work, but the output is given in the 'Script Output' tab rather than the 'Results' tab, which is where I really want to see the results.
I can then however, go back and press the 'Execute Statement' button, and it now works. But, if the define date is changed, it wont be picked up until I press 'Run Script' and go through the whole process again.
Is there anyway I can just open a file with a define, press Execute and get results? Or is this just how SQL Developer works?
I'm on version 1.5.1 and previously used SQL Navigator which ran this type of issue without any problems.
Thanks for any help.The problem is in understanding what each does:
'Execute Statement' (F9) executes only the current statement(s); where the cursor is located or the one(s) you have highlighted.
'Run Script' (F5) executes all statement(s); from top to bottom or the one(s) you have highlighted.
So what you describe is the expected behaviour.
I do suggest you upgrade to the current 2.1.1 (or 3.0 EA3), for fixes and the ability to run more than one selected statement with F9, even to different grids.
Have fun,
K. -
Errow with IF statement in Scripted Calculation view
Hi Team,
I am trying to use IF statement in Scripted Calculation view.
My scenario is:-
I need to create a restricted Key figure based on input date from user.
While i am activating my view system gives "Internal deployment of object failed;Repository: Encountered an error in repository runtime extension;Internal Error:Deploy Calculation View: SQL: transaction rolled back by an internal error: Syntax Error for calculated Attribute: line 29 col 9 (at pos 1501)" error.
Below is the code i have used in my CV.
CE_CALC('IF((to_int("BUDAT") >= to_int(2013-01-01),"AMOUNT",'''')', DECIMAL(13,2)) AS "DTR"
Here, "AMOUNT" is another calculated field created using CE_CALC.
Without above IF statement my CV runs perfectly fine. The moment i include IF statement it does not activate.
Kindly provide your inputs.
Thanks & Regards,
AnupHi Lars,
I am extremely sorry about the confusion.
There was an extra parenthesis in the IF statement which was not allowing the CV to be activated. CV is now successfully activated.
But my data is not getting restricted correctly.
It is showing 0 against all the records.
Below is the sql used for calling the CV.
SELECT * FROM "_SYS_BIC"."A_123/CV_SCR_BSID_BSAD_ITEMS" ('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$Currency$$', '''Local'''),'PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$Date_From$$','2014-01-01' ), 'PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$Date_To$$','2014-06-30' ));
Below is my updated CE_CALC function :-
CE_CALC('IF(date("BUDAT") >= date(:Date_From) and date("BUDAT") <= date(:Date_To),"AMOUNT",0)', DECIMAL(13,2)) AS "DTR"
Is there any issue while passing values here?
Regards,
Anup -
We've been getting the following error for some time now.
An error occurred on line 105 while executing script 'MOM Backward Compatibility Service State Monitoring Script'
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Description: The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable: 'GetObject'
One or more workflows were affected by this.
Workflow name: System.Mom.BackwardCompatibility.ServiceStateMonitoring
Instance name: server.domain.local
Instance ID: {INSTANCE}
Management group: GROUP
Unfortunately the instance in question has since been decommissioned and simply does not exist any more.
We're currently on a repeat count of over 350,000 and I would REALLY like to get it stopped. I've had a look at adding an override but that points to the management server rather than the instance itself.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks in advance!Hi Steven,
There are for option for us to override a monitor ot rule:
For all objects of class:
Class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply to all objects in the class at which the rule or monitor is targeted.
For a group
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to members of the group. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all objects in the targeted class except for those objects that are also members
of the group used for the override.
When you create a group, you save it to an unsealed management pack. However, an element in an unsealed management pack, such as an override, cannot reference an element in a different unsealed management pack, such as a group. If you are going to use a group
to limit the application of an override, you must either save the group to the same unsealed management pack as the override, or you must seal the management pack that contains the group.
For a specific object of class:
Class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to the specified object. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all other objects in the targeted class.
For all objects of another class
When you select this option for your override, the override settings apply only to objects of a class other than the targeted class. The rule or monitor without the override settings continues to apply to all objects in the targeted class.
Did you try to override it for a specific object of class?

REgards,
AbhishekThanks, but most of the people in the industry are still using the same, and it is working on their Machine
As far as I remember 9.2.0.2 was never released, one needed to install at least 9.2.0.4 (or .5). That´s why the official installation guides tell you to install the latest patches PLUS the latest interim patches for the database.
On top of that, Oracle 9.2 is out of extended support already, I would get a new installation CD set with Oracle 10g and use that for a new installation.
why it is not working on my machine?
Because those old database versions have many bugs that are fixed with patches - so why do you want to run such an old version if one KNOWS that it´s buggy and there are patches to fix those errors?
secondly from where i will get the latest patches, as told by you. pl do let me know any website from where i can down load them

At the step CREATE ORACLE DATABASE, i got the below error message:
CJS-00084 SQL statement or script failed. DIAGNOSIS: Error message: ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced
Can someone help me to resolve this?

Using Define Statement as Column Name Alias
Hi,
Is it possible to assign a defined variable as a column name in a simple select statement?
For examples -
DEFINE test_case = to_date('01-Jan-2011','DD-Mon-YYYY');
SELECT banana &&test_case
FROM dual;
Which would result in -
01-Jan-2011
banana
Is this at all possible? The column names will change when the date changes so I do not want to just label the columns normally as this would need to be changed every time the script is run for a different month.Cameron wrote:
DEFINE test = to_char(SYSDATE,'Mon')
SELECT hello &&test
FROM dual
So should that result in -
June
hello
Becuase all I get is a fail and -
15:34:37 ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expectedClearly you missed sybrands response.
DEFINE is a SQL*Plus command (SQL*Plus is a GUI tool)
to_char and SYSDATE are SQL functions (SQL is a language)
You cannot use SQL directly in SQL*Plus commands like DEFINE. -

Using variables defined in another script
hallo
i have two separate scripts trigered by two unique shortcuts:
lets say first SCRIPT_1 takes a color (or any other property) of currentlly selected object and saves it in a variable "objCOLOR"
than i work on something else for a while or select different objects and eventually run SCRIPT_2 where id like to use value "objCOLOR" which i defined a while ago using SCRIPT_1
is it possible to define variables in one script and after a while use them in another script ? some kind of SUPER GLOBAL variables stored in memory of InDesign ? available to be used by various scripts ?I'm not JS man - but you can do this other way - use InsertLabel and ExtractLabel
description from VB:
Sub InsertLabel(Key As String, Value As String)
Member of InDesign.Document
Sets the label to the value associated with the specified key. / Key: The key. / Value: The value.
Function ExtractLabel(Key As String) As String
Member of InDesign.Document
Gets the label value associated with the specified key. / Return value: The label. / Key: The key.
example in VB:
first script:
myDoc.InsertLabel("objCOLOR","0,120,24,0")
second script:
myColor = myDoc.ExtractLabel("objCOLOR")
I don't know if you can save color value directly ...
I'm not sure - but you can use .InsertLabel and .ExtractLabel with all objects in InDesign

Defining paths in scripts..... in need of a guru
Here's a problem that Bridge scripts are having...
If you have a volume named Users, the image processor, 1-2-3, AOM scripts won't run because as the paths are defined they will look in the volume "User" not the folder "Users" for files etc.... it's described better here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3477465#3477465
the problem also exists if you try to use the merge HDR pro script, if you have a volume named "Applications" on your desktop.
here's the KB for this similar problem:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/852/cpsid_85275.html
you can replicate these problems by simply naming any external drive "Users" for the output script errors, or "Applications" for the HDR script errors. After renaming simply try any of the above scripts.
Adobe is currently looking into fixing the scripts, but I know there are some scripting gurus around here that might have already encountered these types of problems and might have a speedy fix to the problem.... any thoughts?
many thanks.

-- I should also mention this is a Mac only problem.As long as there is mankind, and technology there are going to be problems!
There's nowt wrong with my N95-1 and I'll be sticking with it for some time.
You can get a bad phone - just like you can get a bad car, washing machine, stereo etc, etc.
As long as the phone works OK there are often ways of improving limitations. Battery life is poor on my N95 'computer' but I have a rechargeable li-polymer external battery pack I bought for use with a PDA, it's very pocketable, reasonably light weight and would give me about 3 x recharges of my N-95.
Frankly though I would avoid the N95 8GB - I don't like the idea of fixed memory and no memory card slot. If that fixed memory goes pear shaped, what then? At least with removable flash memory you can whip it out and put another one in. Micro SD-HC cards are expected to go up to at least 32GB in size, they are very small, very light and as is usually the case, they will eventually fall in price.
Horses for courses! Good luck with whatever model you decide to get.Message Edited by keenas on 27-Oct-200709:19 AM -
*Prior statement in script logic
Hi,
I'm getting started with script logic and I'm trying to create a record that will be the result of the current amount in a specific account minus the amount for the same account in the previous period.
I was thinking to use a "prior" statement, but not really sure how to do that. Do somebody could write me an example that would sbustract my current amount minus the amount from the previous period where the account is the same in a sql logic?
Thanks
MartinHi,
This should do the trick.
*INCLUDE SYSTEM_CONSTANTS.LGL
*XDIM_MEMBERSET TIMEDIM=PRIOR,%TIME_SET%
*XDIM_Member DataSrc=INput
*WHEN *
*IS *
*REC(EXPRESSION=GET(DATASRC="INPUTSAP",TIME=PRIOR)-GET(DATASRC="INPUTSAP"),NOADD,DATASRC="Movement")
*ENDWHEN
*commit
