Defining collaboration-room-members as group

Hello,
in collaboration-rooms normally we define members with users from user-management.
Does exsists a possibility  to define a group in an org-management and use this group as member of collaboration-room?
Best regards
Oliver Prodinger

Hi Oliver,
yes, since NW04s SPS08 / NW04 SPS17, administrators are able to add (UME) groups to the member list of collaboration room. You can even decide by yourself if you want to expend the list or not to expend the list (default behaviour) so that subsequent changes in the group structure automatically affect the room member list.

Hope this helps,

  • Collaboration Room Folder Permissions

    Hi,
what service permission and permission should I apply to a folder in order to make
    1) Content editable and deletable for the creator of the content
    2) Other collaboration room members should be able to read the content
    Thanks.

    Hi Elvez,
In the standard configuration, room members' access to folders and documents in a room is predefined as follows:
All collaboration room members are permission owners and can therefore assign permissions themselves.
What you would need in order to achieve 1)& 2) is to set the content creator as permission owner and give the Room Members Group only READ permission for each new created document in the room. In order not to do this manually you would need to implement a KM repository service.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • "Stand-alone" uasage of Collaboration Rooms

    Hello Everybody,
customer requirements make it neccessary to use the collaboration rooms for storing documents, which can be accessed by the collaboration room members. Further collaboration functionality is not needed.
Because the collaboration rooms are called via url from an external application I was wondering if it is possible to accesses the collaboration rooms without the portal framework. What we only need is the room with its navigation and the collaboration adminitration iViews.
Does somebody know if it is possible to call a room without the portal framework? I know that a room can be accessed directly via url, but I do not want the portal framework (header, navigation, etc.).
    Cheers,

  • Define FSDB repository in a Collaboration Room?

I have a CM Repository (pointing to fileserver, where the files are stored)
Now, I want to create a room template, with an room extension to use this repository in "documents" section.
I created the room template with room extension according this guide:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0496f69-cb70-2910-21a6-c4cf2cc66311
The "Documents" iView, create a subfolder from my CM Repository.
But I want the room can see directly this repository, is possible???
    thanks in advance,
Edited by: Leandro  Balboni on Jun 6, 2008 1:02 PM

Yes, you can certainly do this.  Typically document areas in a collaboration room are provisioned automatically, but you can include a KM Navigation IView in either the room template or the room extenstion template that points at a 'hard-coded' KM folder.
In this case, you would pre-define the properties of the KM Navigation IView after you add it to the template workset, and you would not use the Collaboration Room Template mapping function.
    Does this help at all?

    Hi all,
I have created a Project Room in collaboration and assigned members to that
room.I need to restrict the room members from creating the news and folders.
And also only Owner/Admin of the room should be able created the news and
folders and members should be able view the news and folder
One more query,i need to remove the room parts which are by default selected
for that room when select the default templates.
Can anyone please give me the solution on the above queries.
It will be very much helpful for me to create collaboration rooms with the
    restricted permissions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sascha,
Here I am explaining what is my requirement.
I have created collaboration room and added room admin and members to the
        room.
Then in the room maintaince -> I have added the room parts as
News(private) and the role I have assigned to member.
When login into portal with the member login and go to the news in the
collaboration room, member is getting the permissions to add/create news.
At this point  I want to restrict the members of the collaboration room to view
the news and only admin of the room should be able to post the news.
how to go ahead for the above senario.
    Thanks

  • Collaboration room groups

    Hi,
Is it possible to automaticaly create several UME groups when I create a collaboration room (one group for each collaboration role), and automaticaly assign specific permissions on KM folder to these groups ?
I have read that it's possible to do this programmaticaly with EP 6  (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=84969 ).
Is it still the case on EP 7 ? if so, do you have some useful information on how to do that ?
    Thanks
    Loï

    Hi
You include the following jar files
    bc.rf.framework_api.jar
    coll.shared.extension_api.jar
    coll.shared.types_api.jar
    kmc.util.core_api.jar
    kmc.util.core_core.jar
and also include sharing reference as mentioned in the collaboration API 6.0 document.

  • Collaboration Room in Business Event Group

When I create a Business Event Group, in the tab Further Information, there is something called Collaboration Room. What is it?
    Points assured!
    Thanks,
    Nivedita

    Hi nivedita,
This is an integration point between TEM and LSO (Learning solution) modules.
Collaboration room are used in LSO.
First you need to have opened the integration switch via:
SPRO : SAP Learning solution -> TEM -> Integration -> Collaboration for Netweaver.

  • Related to collaboration rooms

    HI All
Can anyone tell me the main purpose of creating collaboration rooms in portal ?
What are the things we can do by creating collaboration rooms in portal ?
    thanks in advance

    Collaboration Room:-
Collaboration room are virtual workspaces that can be set up for any topic or purpose. They are especially convenient for teams or work groups, since the rooms ensure that all required tools, services, and information sources are available through a single point of access.
The room are based on room templates that define the room’s structure, content, and access authorizations.
Collaboration room also offer full integration to third-party groupware systems and real-time collaboration services.
The Collaboration rooms can be populated with predefined content and services that may already be available within SAP EP.
    Function Of Collaboration Room:-
    1.  A structured workplace with pre-defined content and services created specifically for the project and/or  teams.
    2. Shared access to knowledge and document.
    3. Global work, independent of place or time zone.
    4. Direct access from the room to services for collaboration.
    5. Improved effectiveness of virtual project teams through central access to necessary information and services.
    6. The chances to increase knowledge and awareness of the project through open publication of information.
In simple language we can say that collaboration room is a virtual space(or room) which is use to perform certain task like:
    1. Discussion
    2. Meeting
    3. Instant Messaging
    4. Send E-mail
    5. Real time collaboration
    6. Chatting
    7. Create appointment
    8. Share Application
That room have specific room template or say specific type and it contains members who are able to perform above things.

  • Collaboration Room iViews give error -- Database related errors -- Pls Help

    Hello Everyone,
We are on EP 6.0 SP 17 (Netweaver 2004).
KMC component was installed separately (Deployed manually).
We are trying to create simple Collaboration Rooms and we are facing some issues with the same.
I am following the documentation on SAP Help for the Room Creation:
Help  SAP Netweaver 2004  People Integration  Collaboration  Administration Guide
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1d/3d59fdaa5ebb45967ea107d3fa117a/frameset.htm
We are able to create rooms based on pre-defined templates and we are also able to add members to rooms, send/receive the invitation emails. I am able to work with Instant Messaging also.
But the problem is that some of the iViews related to Collaboration Rooms are giving errors.
1.<b> “Discussion” iView gives an error saying “You do not have access permission” (even the user has all the necessary roles assigned).</b>
Log for this error is as follows:

Are there any database related configurations that are required?
I would really appreciate any help in this matter. Please advise me about any ideas you may have?
    Thanks,
    Raj Seelam

    Hello Lars,
First of all thank you for your reply.
    <b>do u use Collaboration first time?</b>
Yes, we just started using Collaboration and this is our first requirement.
    <b>Which roles do u have?</b>
I have all the required roles (Super Admin, Content Management, Collaboration, Collaboration Room Creation).
I know that these features are available in NW04 SP 17 without any limitations. I have reviewed SAP Notes 707730, 711093, 709354 and 946470 also.
This problem is with only a few Collaboration iViews.
I am able to create Rooms, Enter Rooms, Receive Invitation e-mails without any problem.
Any suggestions about any possible missing configurations ?
    Thanks Again,
    Raj

  • Help: Collaboration Room Bugs/Issues

    Hi,
I have created my own collaboration room template by duplicating the standard Information Site template.
However, i am facing a few issues related to collaboration room creation, which might be standard features/bugs in collaboration room.
    1. When i create a new Room, all the users of that room (members as well as administrators) get full access to room documents, headers, news, Faqs etc.
The permissions started working fine when i changed permissions in KM Content --> Room_Extensions.
All the existing rooms showed the correct permissions.
However, whenever i create a new room, every user gets full permissions to all the parts of the room.
This is despite the fact that i have removed all the users from full permissions to the room_extensions folder in KM and reset the child permissions.
    2. I have attached the iView com.sap.ip.collaboration/TemplateContent/Homer/iViews/ com.sap.netweaver.coll.RoomMemberList (Team Members iView)to my room template.
When i create a new room based on my template, i do not get the users specific to a particular room.
What i get in the Team members list is all the users listed in the Contacts list in Collaboration Launch Pad.
    3. When i try to preview some of the iViews stored in com.sap.ip.collaboration/TemplateContent/Homer, i get an exception. On attaching these iViews to the Collaboration Rooms, i get a message stating "Invalid Item ID" index.xml.
I get the same message even after attaching these iViews to a collaboration room template and creating a room based on the template.
Any help regarding these issues would be highly appreciated. Full points for helping me with these issues.
    Regards,
    Vibhu

    Hi Vibhu,
    here my comments:
    1) These are the standard settings (every room member gets full access) for the permissions of KM content created during a Room creation. Since KM can't distinguish between the room roles, we can't set 'better/stronger' permissions. You can only set manually permissions on concrete users.
    2) It seems that you have not set the mappings for this iView. For the RoomMemberList you need the following settings:
    StartURI        room_rootrolegroup_rid
    path            room_rootrolegroup_rid
    roomrid         roomid
in the documentation you find more mappings for iViews delivered by SAP, which You have to set in the templates.
Please see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3f/fcfe06fd7f1321e10000000a114cbd/content.htm for more information.
    3) That's possible since some of the iViews needs certain iView-Parameters set to work properly. Please check if this iView needs some mappings under the link in the documentation under 2)
    4) Up to now we are treating groups as you described. We are working on a solution where we work with groups as room members and we don't resolve the members of the invited/added group.
    Regards, Erwin

  • Collaboration Room Team Member list

    Hello all,
I'm working on creating a custom collaboration room template in KM 5.0, EP 5.0, SP 5.0. The templates that come with KM include an iview (Team Members) that lets you view team members that are a part of the collaboration room that you are in. It does not appear that this iview tells you who in that list is currently online or offline, however, this would be a great feature to have. Is there any way to get this iview to do that, or is there any other business package that might have an iview that includes this functionality?
    Thank you,

    Hi Edwin,
set the PCD permissions of com.sap.ip.collaboration (or something like this) for the group "Everyone" to allow End User permissions.
You have to check "End User" for the group Everyone.

    Hi there,
After following the basic configuration steps for collaboration, we do not see the error:
com.sap.netweaver.coll.room.api.util.RoomResourceException: Cannot get resource /room_extensions/cm_stores/TEMPLATES/MeetingRoom/Links: Cannot get resource /room_extensions/cm_stores/TEMPLATES/MeetingRoom/Links
but this error is still there and the room creation wizard failed again:
Property type is not multi-valued com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException: Property type is not multi-valued
    any help is much appreciated...
    Thanks.

    dear friends,
I am working on EP developement and now i am working on Collaboration rooms.
I want some info as for below:
    I am using EP 6.0 with SP2
    1. Where exactly the user's information will be stored in EP server?
    2. I understand the purpose of SAP R/3 System in UM Configuration, but what is the purpose of LDAP Server?
    3. Is LDAP Server configuation is required to work on Collaboration Rooms?
    4. Is it possible to work with Collaboration Rooms without LDAP Server/configuration?
Please do reply anybody with positive answers
    urgent reply appricated
    thanks in advance
    Kantha
    cheers
    Kantha

    Hi Kantha,
    > Where exactly the user's information
    > will be stored in EP server?
I don't know exactly what you mean. If no specific user backend store is defined, the users created are stored within the database for the portal server.
    > I understand the purpose of SAP R/3 System in UM
    > Configuration, but what is the purpose of LDAP Server?
There is no need to have a SAP R/3 in the background for UM, you could also just have a LDAP server where the users of the company are stored in. This LDAP you can use for UserManagement.
    > Is LDAP Server configuation is required
    > to work on Collaboration Rooms?
    A simple No.
    > Is it possible to work with Collaboration Rooms
    > without LDAP Server/configuration?
From the last answer a simple Yes follows.
CollabRooms do not need any specific User Backend Store; the UserManagement works as in the rest of the portal on the UME, which again is bound to an LDAP - or not.
    Hope it helps
