Defining onRelease in a loop.

So I'm building a dynamic menu where the button actions
change for each item that is listed. Now I think I could do this
while writing classes, but I'm rushing to get it done, I'd rather
just script functions for it. However, when I run a for loop, it
sets all values of all buttons (see code) to the value+1 of i.
Thus, each button has the same action, and unless I manipulate i--
doesn't work. Anyway, my real question is whether LIFE cereal is a
healthy cereal or a sugary one.
Second to that, I need to know how I would do this.

How to define function within for loop pls help?????

Hi this is the problem i have a class, and within that class there is an actionPerformed function, in this class i also create an instance of another class, this other class also contains an actionPerformed function, which wis executed if a jButton has been pressed, when I try to place this actionPerfromed function within a for loop of a function i get an error saying illegal start of experssion, and that the class should be defined abstract as it does not define actionPerformed, when i take it out of the for loop it compliles fine, i need the function to be placed within the for loop because it needs to know the variable of the for loop, is there anyway around this? Variable not defined after running for() loop.

I have a little problem, I have created a for loop, which seems to work, except that a variable within the for() loop gets lost, because if I try to call the variable after the loop, it says it's not there. anyway, here is my code, followed by the error. Thanks!

How to pass variables inside onRelease = function() ?

I am creating MCs through a loop, but I want to assign an
onRelease function to each created MC, in
that same loop. And I need to use the variables from the loop
into the function...
So I tried this:

I think that the problem is that the variables defined in the
for loop do not exist in the scope of
the function.
when the MC is clicked, and the onRelease function says:

the variable "mcName" is empty.

How to display multiple lines in a text box defined in steploop.

Hi,
I have a requirement to display data ( which is dynamic in nature. I determine data type,length etc dynamically) in a table format. I am using step loop for the same. I am facing a problem. Some field can be as long as 256 char long. Is there any way to display multiple lines in text box defined in a step loop so that I can display the complete string as one entity.
I can't use custom control as custom control can't be defined in a step loop or table controlI would really appreciate your help on this.

Perhaps it is possible to use a mixed strategy consisting of a classical table control (or, even better, an ALV grid list) where you display the first 250 character of the data and next to the table control you place a simple textedit control. When the user selects one of the text fragments in the table control the entire text will be displayed in the textedit control.

1st iteration: 75.9, 52.5, 999.999, 76.5, 49.4, 0.0
2nd iteration: 75.9, 52.5, 999.999, 76.5, 49.4, 999.999
Something like that.
If so then you need to know what the indicies of the numbers you want to update which may not be a simple matter. Perhaps an array is not what you want here but maybe a Map instead.

Capturing of time taken by a while loop in bpm

I have a busniess process ,and my receive step is defined in a while loop.
so it starts with a while loop.
I want to keep a condition on the while loop that it should receive the messages only for a period of 1 hour ,and if it exceeds this period it should end up the process triggeringa mail.
I mean to say if there are 12 records to be processed through the while loop ...and if I receive only 11 records ..it will be waiting for that final record in an infinite loop ..so I dont want that ...instead if the total no of records are reached then it should move forward ..If it is waiting for the missing records for an hour ..I should stop the process and trigger a mail to the queue monitor saying that record is missing...I have finished the process without this processing time condition successfully..
I am new to XI and I dont have any idea on how to capture this processing time of while loop.
can some one please help me out in this issue...

Yeah I understand we can go with fork but why I am going with this is ,I have already designed a Payload dependent loop ,by using while loop.so it makes my job simple ...
Now I am converting it to time dependent loop,so only the final question I have is...In the time dependent loop documentation ..they have taken it as infinite loop and only kept the time limit in the deadline branch...so when the deadline reaches they trigger something.
If you go to the documentation of time dependent loop(http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/08/16163ff8519a06e10000000a114084/content.htm) ..they took the infinite loop...in this loop if I mention the counter ..and if this record count triggers before the time limit...it should come out of the block...would it work this way ?

consumption and garbage collection? Yes. How would the memory consumption differ anyway? 4 kB of reference created and released vs. 4 kB of reference created, released, created, released... (Though I said before, the latter does not happen anyway.)
GC might not be able to clean up the last object in the second way if it happens to run just after the loop exited because you still have a valid reference to it, but that's purely academic.

XML scrolling thumbnail, image loader, & Buttons [halfway works]

Intro:
I started a flash-based website a few years ago. Back in 2006 I was able to get a xml scrolling thumbnail, image loader to work without a glitch.
For numerous reasons I had to put the project on hold until now. [one was that my 30 day trial of flash expired and only recently was I able to purchase the Adobe Web Suite CS4 as well as a new computer which could run the apps.]
Last Friday saw a bump in the road in the development of my site as two, rather straightforward task, turned into something short of a nightmare as I have been unable to get past these two, seemingly, relatively simple task.
I have posted in 4 other flash forums the issues, in detail, that I am facing - and have quite a bit of interest/views in the topic as the numbers suggest - yet no response/answer as of yet. [Which confirms other messages I have seen which seem to state that working with buttons has become increasingly difficult with the newer version of flash - something Im a bit surprised with actually from Adobe. - I would have thought there would be a palette where you could set parameters...]

Before getting into the two questions I have, I would like to post an image of the site as it looks whenever an swf file is saved out, as well as a piece of the timeline in the back for reference.
Issue #1
As of now when the swf file is saved out you get exactly what you see above:
a: A scrolling thumbnail
b: ...which loads a large image when clicked on it - PEFECT...
BUT...
1a: I need for the buttons to load in this action, not for it to just load on its own.
[i.e., the silk_paintings gallery is what is open, so I need the "silk_paintings" button to call up this action]
note: Initially I had attacked this problem by taking out the actions layer you see above and applying it directly to the individual buttons with some crude MouseEvent Listener/Handerls... that did not work - at all.
Im sure it may be "easier" to make an array out of it, but with my coding level it may be "easier" to apply it to the buttons.
1b: How I currently see it, I would take the xml-list and duplicate it for the number of galleries I have.
[I would then re-name the xml-list to reflect the name of the galleries they are to represent, i.e. "silk_paintings"]
[also, I would have to rename the folders to "thumbnails1,2,3, etc., & "images 1,2,3, etc"
From there I would duplicate the actions and paste it into the buttons, changing the xml-list name to that of "silk_paintings", etc., as well as write in the MouseEvent listener Handler to make it work. [ah, ha, but what is that magic phrase, I have tried to implement various code from other tutorials, and all in vein.]
Issue #2
At this point I would be tickled pink just to get this to basic function to work.
However, once the buttons are working and calling up the xml, etc., then I need the buttons to stay on the semi-transparent blue color it is whenever in the 'hit' state. [note: NOT pictured above.]
With the way the buttons are currently set up, and with wanting to use scripting to get them to interact with the thumbnail gallery, it will have to be some miraculous code to tell that button what color to stay as whenever its clicked, and of course it going back to white when another button is clicked.
Conclusion:
Since this is an Adobe Forum I would like to make a few additional statements in hopes that the developers, etc. may take heed.
Adobes products are not cheap, and when I went to purchase the websuite I went in as a designer needing a program as not to need to program.
I understand the flexibility that coding gives, but something as simple as linking buttons should not be in the realms of rocket science. [yes, for many its not...but my brain just does not operate that route despite all the tutorials thrown at me.]
Again, it would seem that there would be a button panel where you could drag options like scrolling thumbnail slider, loader, and then parameters would come up. [much like Apples iWeb. - but before the argument of one being pro and the other for non-pros, I see it differently. Software should not be the limiting factor in how flexible you can design, or rather ones lack of programming shouldnt be. With all the talented, and I say this in all humility and honesty, programmers working for Adobe, Im sure something could be programmed like what Im asking for.]
note: Director is a good example, back in 1997 I knew nothing of multimedia and in one week I had assembled a portfolio, clicking buttons, speech, movies, and all. - and no, I dont have the money to buy more software!
At this moment I am at the mercy of someone who reads code like its a nighttime tale they are telling their kids, and who can see the exact issue I have and can share the appropriate, correct code. [as I have noticed, it has to be on target - naturally - but this target changes with just a slight change in the design.]

The issues with the buttons calling up the scrolling thumbnail panel have been resolved, as well as keeping the buttons in their hit state once clicked, thanks to Rob.
Those that have been following this thread, or stumble upon it in their searches later, may appreciate to see the final solution to this particular issue.
[Hopefully I will be able to update this thread with a url in the future to show the site in operation, which may help somebody with their project in the future if its set up similarly.]
Alas, it would be nice if future versions of flash had a more direct, flexible, user friendly method for creating navigation.
[We may see development beyond the flash ads which everyone seems to loathe... and more creativity with flash in terms of games, web interactivity, & animation.

How? Flex pass variables or call function in SWF

Dear All:
I am new in Flex.
But I stuck with a problem for weeks.
I wish to communication between Flex and Flash(swf).
I tried to pass variable from Flex to Swf. (Call function in Swf also pass variables)
I did some tourital on google by using SWFLoader, which works fine.
BUT the AS code in SWF must in MAIN FRAME.
I need put my AS code by using DOCUMENT CLASS.
BUT when I using Document class, the method is not working.
The flex cannot find function in Flash.
PS.I already set main.as class as public
Hope some one can give some hint.

for loop do not exist in the scope of
the function.
when the MC is clicked, and the onRelease function says:

the variable "mcName" is empty.

Using more than one ResultSet at a time

I need to use nested ResultSets. That is, I need to define a second ResultSet before the first ResultSet is completed.
But, whether I define the second ResultSet inside the while loop of the first (while(rs.next()), or I define the second without looping through all the results of the first, I get errors in my results (all zeros where I expect numbers).
If I either comment out the first ResultSet or loop completely through the first before defining the second, the results are correct.
I am using two different Statement objects, one for each result-set, and have even tried using two different Connections to create these two Statements, and the same error occurred.
I have done this with Sybase, and did not see these errors. I am presently using classes12.zip and nfs_charset12.zip, but I have tried using classes111.zip and nfs_charset11.zip and saw the same errors.
Has anyone seen this problem before?

I know I have seen some apps that specifically say that they can be used while surfing the web, etc. It may be a function of the app that it can continue to run while you're doing something else. I'm kind of surprised that a radio app wouldn't allow for that.

File System Task - using a wildcard in variable

Hi,When using the "delete file" operation in the file system task I get an error stating that I have an incorrect path when using the wildcard symbol. Is there a way around this or do I have to spell out the whole name for each file in the
directiory. I cannot not use the "delete directory contents" operation because I have two sub directiories in my directory. I'm trying to use the following when I get the error
\\devbox\df\*.csv when I spell out whole name of the file it works. Any suggestions?

this cant be done like this. Only possible if you put file system task in for each loop container and perform deletion one at at time.

BEX query runs using parameters entered by user in an Excel spreadsheet

I'm trying to write a macro to automate certain functions for our users.

Essentially, the users would enter numbers (relating to clients) in column A and e-mail adresses in column B. A set of reports would run based on the first number entered, then the workbook would be saved and e-mailed to the first address in column B. This would be repeated for the 2nd number/address and so on... All Bex reports are in the same workbook. At this point, I'm having a lot of problems finding code that will fill in the Bex query parameters automatically based on inputs in the spreadsheet. Here is what I've worked up so far for the macro:

N:1 Mapping and Matching Lines of Message 1 to Message 2

I have an n:1 mapping and I need to match up the lines of message 1 to the lines of message 2 to map the target. For example:

I think that this is possible in a user defined function that basically loops over the Source 2 for each value in Source 1, and I even think I saw a solution to this common problem posted before, but I have searched and can not find it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Peter,
From the example that you have given, mapping between the two source messages has been
done only for the fields("Field1"). Infact, you are combining the values of the fields
in the both the source messages-to show in the target message.
I think this can be done by creating one source message type which stores both the source
messages (n:1) and then you can map both the field1s of the source messages to field1 of target
message by using the concat function.

IDoc Collection Scenario (IDoc to Mail Interface)

I am configuring IDoc to Mail Scenario using BPM.
I gone through following link for develop the scenario. I am still unable to complete the scenario.

I have done following steps in my configuration. Please correct my steps if i am wrong.
Source is Outbound Invoice IDoc (SAP System).
Target is Inbound EDI 810 format send as a email(Mail System).
1. Create an Abstract Interface for Invoice IDoc(MI_IDoc_ABS)
2. Create a Message Interface for EDI 810 for Inbound(MI_EDI810_IN)
3. Create an Abstract Interface for EDI 810(MI_EDI810_ABS)
4. Message Mapping between Outbound IDoc and Abstract Invoice IDoc. I did this as per one of the above link. but did not understand the importance of this. On Message tab of Message Mapping, it shows the occurance as 1 for both source and target. I did not see the mention of this mapping in the BPM. Not sure if this was required?(MM_IDoc_ABS)
5. Message mapping between Abstract Invoice IDoc to Abstract EDI 810. On the message tab of message mapping, occurance of Source message is changed to 0-unbounded and occurance of target is kept as 1.(MM_EDI810_ABS)
6. Define Interface Mapping for above mappings
a) IM_IDoc_ABS - Outbound Invoice IDoc + MI_IDoc_ABS
MM_IDoc_ABS
b) IM_EDI810_ABS - MI_IDoc_ABS + MI_EDI810_ABS
MM_EDI810_ABS
7. Create a BPM in Integration process. Define 3 Containers namely
a) collectIDoc - Abstract Interface - MI_IDoc_ABS
b) collectIDocList - Abstract Interface - MI_IDoc_ABS(Multiline)
c) targetFile - Abstract Interface - MI_EDI810_ABS
8. Create a Block and define a infinite while loop with Block. Condition to be defined as (1=1)
9. Define a deadline block withing Block with duration = 5minutes
10. Define a Correlation in Correlation editor as SNDPOR as a ID.
11. Define a recieve step inside infinite while loop with following properties
Message = collectIDoc
Start Process = Checked
Use Correlation = Correlation

12. Define Container operation next to recieve step. properties are

Now the next step is to define Communication Channel and Receiver determination, Interface determination in the Integration Directory.
I don't know, how to go further on these steps.

2. Create a party called EDI810_Party and EDI810_Service.
3. In EDI810_Service, Receiver tab has interfaces defined. MI_EDI_IN and MI_IDoc_ABS. In sender tab, it is INVOIC.INVOICE02 (IDoc) and MI_EDI810_ABS.
4. Define a receiver communication channel CC_EDI810_Receiver(RFC).
5. Business System for SAP is defined in Service without Party.
6. Defined Sender communication channel CC_IDoc_Sender(IDoc)
7. Create Interface Determination (First)
Properties are
Sender Service : SAP Business System
Sender Interface : INVOIC.INVOICE02 (IDoc)
Sender Namespace : IDoc namespace
