Defunct RFC destination prevents server from starting

Hi,
We have EP7.0 SP8 installed in Windows/Oracle.
There was an RFC destination defined pointing to a BI system and now the system is removed/renamed from the name space.
When the j2ee engine is started it looks for the system and results RFC_COMMUNICATION_ERROR and changing the status of the server process to "Starting Apps" and hangs in there for ever.
The dev_server0 log shows the following error: Is there a way to remove this RFC destination offline, without starting the server (assuming this is the root cause of th e problem   or is there something else is going wrong?
Thanks for your time.

Ok I reinstalled the pulseaudio & libpulse upgrades and rebuilt phonon-pulse & kdemultimedia-kmix-pulse against the new versions and it appears to have resolved the issue. I had originally inspected the logs of X & KDM but did not see any errors or information regarding why X would suddenly drop whilst logging in.

  • Prevent iChat from starting at login

How do I prevent iChat from starting at login? I looked in my account login items and it is not listed there. I shut the app completely before shutting down the computer so it shouldn't be automatically be relauncing due to the "reopen windows" setting in Lion. Just can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
With iChat Open check the Window Menu about which windows are actually open
The App should be Quit at the end rather than hitting the red blobs on the windows (this only closes/Hides the windows and does not Quit the app)
Are you getting Off Line IMs when it starts up ?
If this is the case it is a "feature" rather than a fault although you don't have a lot of control over it.
In earlier versions the support app iChatAgent  "Listens" to the AIM Server in particular and will answer if an Off Line IM is sent.
If iChat is closed down iChatAgent will launch it.
In iChat 6 this is done by IMAgent (it does the same job for FaceTime if it's preferences are set to ON but the app is not launched)
Most likely it is a window that belongs to iChat that is not getting closed.
At the same time it may not be in view  (the Window Menu should give clues).
It could be Off Line IMs

Is there a way to prevent iTunes from starting up when connecting an iPad to my Macbook?  We use Apple Configurator and would love to be able to set up the MacBook to open Apple Configurator when we  plug in an iPad.

When you connect the device open iTunes and select it from the sidebar. Click on the Summary tab in the main window. Uncheck the option to automatically connect to iTunes. You will find it in the collection of options near the lower part of the window.

I need help. I need a snippet to start one an element and prevent another from starting. they are at the same place in the timeline and need to be there for other elements. but right now when I click one the other plays also how do I stop one from playing when the other is clicked?

I need it to show. its a header and a footer that move in and out. but they need to stay on the same timeline in order for the side controls that move in and out from the side. because when they play they move the header in and out. lol did you get that? Thanks for the comment.

  • Prevent iTunes from starting sync?

I'm sure there must be a way to do this - my iPods are set to automatically begin syncing when connected, but I'd like to either stop it once started or prevent it from starting so I can change some of the options first. Is that possible?
    thanks.
    Sally

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

  • RFC Destination SAPHTTP Inaccessible from Archivelink

    Hi,
I am working on a project to implement Archivelink in our SAP ECC 5.0 system. Our plan is to allow users to store documents in a content server which are linked to a GL account document in SAP. We have done the configuration successfully in a test system. However, it takes about 30 seconds to store the first document. Subsequent documents are stored in just a few seconds. During the delay we receive Message "Testing destination SAPHTTP" followed by "RFC destination SAPHTTP inaccessible" (CMS 140).  After these messages I think the document is stored using destination SAPHTTPA. I have discovered that by adding the following entry to the HOSTS file on my laptop the document is stored successfully using destination SAPHTTP. There are no messages or 30 second delay.
    205.123.456.789 mysapsys
It appears to me that SAPHTTP is attempting to resolve "mysapsys" as the domain name instead of "mysapsys.mycompany.com" which is necessary for DNS on our network. Is there anything we can do so SAPHTTP is resolved successfully without updating every users' HOSTS file? Our Basis team has implemented our servers and SAPGUI so it is not necessary for the HOSTS file to be updated on each user's machine.
Testing destination SAPHTTP from transaction SM59 is successful.
Finally I've attached the SAPHTTP log to the end of this post.  You can see when I test from SM59 the host name is "mysapsys.mycompany.com".  When I attempt to attach a document the host name is "mysapsys".  Why are the host names different?
    Thanks for your help,
    Jim

Did you make a note search ?
    A 2 minutes search gave me [Note 506314 - SAPHTTP and SSL|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/506314]
It seems that I was wrong and that SSL is possible with saphttp.exe since release 6.20

I still think this is a bad idea to use saphttp.xe with ECC 5.0 but it is your choice !

I found old messages in the newsgroups indicating that there have been issues
with WLS 5.1 and Java 1.3 on NT running as a service or from the start menu.
But there does not seem to be a resolution to this problem yet.
Is there a workaround to this issue. Is there a new wlserver that supports 1.3
for WLS 5.1. I am running with SP6 because we need to run with WLCS 3.2 also.
WLS 5.1 starts up fine as a service or from the start menu with the JRE 1.2 shipped
with the product or from a command window with startWeblogic running SDK 1.3
Thanks in advance for any help to clear this up.

Thanks for the suggestion... the registry already has this setting... that does
    not seem to be it.
From looking closer at what is installed with the 1.3 JRE versus the 1.2 JRE packaged
with the 5.1 server... it seems to me that the issue has to do with support for
    the Hotspot VM.
The 1.3 JRE has a hotspot subdirectory under the bin, there is no classic subdirectory,
as is the case with the 1.2 JRE in the 5.1 package or even with a standard SDK
    1.3 installation.
Does 5.1 support the hotspot vm. How can I switch it to use the 'older' JVM instead?
If I copy the 'classic' jvm.dll from the sdk 1.3 installation into the bin\classic
directory of the 1.3 JRE, the server does start, but an error message indicating
that the javai.dll was not found still comes up. Followed by the following error:
Warning: JIT compiler "symcjit" not found. Will use interpreter.
The server startup output then comes up ... Please help, anyone?

  • Prevent Movies from starting at max volume?

Everytime I click on a movie or sound file that plays in quicktime, the volume bar is maxed out. Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Short of editing the file properties there is no other way to reduce the volume. QuickTime Player uses the system volume as a "guide" but many files can be set to "overdrive" using the same steps as above.
Using the Finder "preview" (Get Info window) hold down the Shift-Command keys as you click on the sound icon of the controller. You'll see a new "line" and anything above it would be overdrive audio.

  • I want to prevent MyDay from starting up when I switch on.  I have followed all instructions for doing this, but to no effect.  I have unlocked and relocked.

I use an Macbook from 2006 with OS X 10.7.5
MyDay starts up every time I switch on.  I don't use it, so want to remove it from the list of programs which start automatically.  I have followed all instructions for doing this, and have of course unlocked and relocked the relevant page in Systems Preferences, but the instruction never 'sticks', and MyDay still starts every time.  Anyone know what to do?

    Check StartupItems...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/StartupItems
Click Go. If you see any reference to MyDay, delete it. That does not delete the app Just keeps it from launching when you startup your Mac.
Just to be sure, you checked System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items   ??
Unlocking or locking the padlock icon only prevents other users from changing your preferences.

In the iphoto Preferences disable "connecting Camera opens" - set it to "No application".
