Degrade to an older Safari version (Mountain Lion OS to Lion OS)

Hi everyone,
I've just installed by mistake the latest version of Safari for Mountain Lion on my Mac Lion OS X and my Mac won't let me degrade...silly me . Is there any way around this? I have tried to use Time Machine to no avail as it's never been set up before.
Thanks a lot!

Oops, I meant downgrade not degrade I have tried to reinstall other versions over and over again but it seems it just wants me to get Mountain Lion all the time, what a mess

    Hello bobicato:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I suggest that you run an archive and install and then run software update. You seem to have several problems at the same time.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.
    Cheers and Happy Computing

I have Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 using Safari, Version 6.0.5 is that the correct version for Safari?

  • Reinstalling Safari in Mountain Lion

I can't find how to reinstall Safari for Mountain Lion. The App Store is confusing as all get-out and I can't find any download link on the Safari page, just a bunch of blurbs telling me how great it is. Apparently the version I have has developed dementia and I would like to reinstall it. Can someone give me a clue about how to do this? Thanks. :-)

It's best to describe the problem, rather than your conclusion as to how it should be solved. Reinstalling is almost certainly not the solution.

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Please include the "binary images" section...

  • 10.74 installed on an older macbook pre mountain lion requirement is it ok to update to 10.75

just checking to see if 10.74 of lion on an older macbook pre date for mountain lion should be upgrade to 10.75 if this is or is not the designator for mountain lion

Not sure if I understand your question; IF your Macbook meets the system requirments, then you don't need any version of Lion in order to get Mountain Lion. Here are the system requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Your Macbook must be late 2008 Alu or early 2009 or newer - has nothing to do with Lion. However, Lion may be all you can install if your machine does not meet the specs for ML.

I have updated from Snow Leopard to Lion with Safari Version 5.0.5. Now I can not update to Safari 5.1. There is no update in the Software Updater, and on the apple-download page, I only found a Safari 5.1 for Snow Leopard. When executing it, there is an error message, that it is for 10.6 only.
It seems that I should have first updated Safari, and then only to Lion, which I didn't. Any idea how I can fix this now without having to rollback to Snow Leopard, update Safari and then go back to Lion?

Try this Safari5.1 from the installer package
    http://www.filefactory.com/file/cc9005d/n/Safari.pkg.zip
The download worked better with Firefox not sure why. At the bottom of the page after the captcha>> slow down load is the Free link,  it took about 4 minutes to download on my test.

I'm trying to migrate from mobileMe to iCloud but I have Snow Leopard (the latest version). It looks like Lion is no longer available because Mountain Lion comes out next month (July). The problem is mobileMe ends on June 30th. How can I migrate?
My iphone and my ipad are compatible but when I try to go to icloud on my phone it says to do it on my computer.
I would like to have my calendar, contacts, etc.. all sync like they do now. Is there a way to upgrade before June 30th? If not, will the gap be an issue or will I just be able to buy mountain lion and sync everything?
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

You can buy Lion in the App Store now, but move to iCloud now. If you wait to Mountain Lion, you will only have Mail in Snow Leopard, so you will lose syncing unless you use Lion or Mountain Lion. It's up to you

  • We have an older apple computer with safari version 5.1.10 and snow leopard version 10.6.8 do you have something compatable?

Does adobe make a version for a older apple computer, with a safari version 5.1.10 and snow leopard 10.6.8 .

Flash Player is still supported on that os/browser combination (see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs).  You can download the latest version from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

I see an upgrade path from Safari but don't want to change that and would like to be able boot from Maverick when needed.
    Is this possible and how?
    Thank you!

On the Apple site I see an upgrade path but not from scratch.  I will use my current systems and then it place a complete install of Maverick on the other drive to boot from?
    Thank you!

  • Installing older version of Java on OSX Lion

I am trying to install an older version of Java on OSX lion 10.7.3. The latest update conflicts with matlab, I want to revert to java version 1.6.0_37. I have downloaded the version I want but when I try to install it ( click on the *.pkg file) I get the message : A newer version of this package has already been installed
    Any work arounds?

Give Shane Ross' blog entry a read:
    http://lfhd.blogspot.com/2006/10/versions.html
It is on a different topic but see how he tricks the software into installing without removing an old version. You might could do the same if you follow those steps.
