Deinterlace and Premiere workflow (need to nail this)

In AE one sets the (field) Interpretation for footage at the source. In Final Cut 7 there is a Deinterlace filter that can be applied en masse to clips in the timeline. Neither option seems applicable in Premiere.
If I have interlace source material and a delivery spec for Progressive, it is satisfactory to edit a native seq (interlace) then on export set it to Progressive? Or does one have to additionally go into Field Options for every clip in the TL and set it for "Always Deinterlace" ?
If it were the easy option 1 I would be surprised why so many on-line explanations suggest the time-consuming 2nd?

Florian, in an earlier post you had said that the correct methodology is a 2 step process. First "To get real progressive you need to enable "always deinterlace" for all clips"
Second "settings level in your timeline and of course export to progressive..."
It seems I misunderstood Ann's post "If your footage is interlaced you set up an interlaced timeline and export to progressive."
I *had* thought she was saying the footage had to be reformatted first via exporting from the TL, it seems I was wrong. If that is not about reformatting (as I now understand) then she is saying the solution is a *one* step process and that would appear to contradict your original post that proposes a 2 step process. Ann does not seem to think part 1 of your process "To get real progressive you need to enable "always deinterlace" for all clips" is required. Yes?

I am having trouble with the automatic capitalization. I am doing a medical course and when I type after a full stop it capitalizes and I need to change this.
How do I change this setting either to turn it off or override it.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:

Ikegami GFCam and Premiere Workflow

Hi all,
I am new to Premiere, but versed in Avid and FCP. Does anyone have suggestions for the best workflow with an Ikegami GFCam HDS-V10 that records to a GFPak? I believe the mxf files produced by the GFCam are most similar to XDCAM. In terms of our Avid workflow (I have yet to tackle this task with FCP) we must transcode each GFPak clip that is imported to Avid and moved to the storage drive. Considering the XDCAM similarities, can I expect the mxf files to be received natively?
For our P2 camera clips, I am simply working from the MXF files which are pulled from the cards to the storage drive before importation into Avid. If there is a better workflow for this too, please let me know, but based on the small bit of research I've done in teh 2 hours I've had my hands on the new software and computer today that hte latter method is common place because the mxf files are native to Premiere. Can a simliar approach be used for the GFPak clips?
Otherwise, the method I'm thinkign would be to import the mxf files from the GFPak into AME (this is Adobe Media Encoder correct? just making sure I've got my acronyms right as I dive into Premiere forums/discussions) and convert to another format which might be more compatible/efficient to work with in Premiere. Am I headed in the right direction? Any suggestions for optimal codecs to transfer to?
It seems the Ikegami shooter is few and far between, so any helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Just in case anyone's curious, I found a solution to the Ikegami import problem. It requries the plug-in at the link below. It's a little bit pricey, but seems to be the only option out there.

Among other things I attempted, which all failed, was to pass it through Media Encoder first, but neither AME or PP had hte capacity to link the audio and video mxf files stored on the GFPak.
The plug-in allows PP to do so, and media may be imported using the Media Browser. While PP links the audio and video it does not hide the file structure like it does with P2, just giving you a thumbnail image. You need to be sure to pull your clips from the 'Video' folder. The audio will come right along with upon import, have no fear!
Happy to say I only really struggled with this for a solid day with the help of my IT staff . I thought it would have taken much longer to find a solution.

My firefox crashes every 2-5 minutes for unknown reasons. its getting really annoying and i really need help with this :( i cant seem to get an ID on the crash report, its giving a different reason everytime.. i think. please help !

i have many many crash reports and they all seem different. yet, whenever i search the support pages for help on those crash IDs it shows 0 results. alot of people are having the same problems, and i hope we ALL can get help on this. its getting really frustrating and annoying :(

i doubt it is from skype. i havent used skype in 2 days or so.

What specific disc menu theme or themes are associated with this program failure? What is the exact place where the problem hit..
a. just clicking on Disc Menu header
b. dragging Disc Menu from the display of themes into the Disc Menu area customization screen
c. selecting your menu in the display of choices and then hitting Apply

Are you running Premiere Elements 10 from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" type issue.
On the Windows side of things, application of Run As Administrator as well as the User Account with Administrative Privileges has been know
to resolve some of these issues. I am strictly an Elements Windows user. What is the Mac side of the story for Run As Administrator? At any
rate, are your computer permissions in order?
Just to cover all bases, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 10?

Fix for crash in After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 when Joesoft Hear audio enhancer installed

After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 both can crash due to a conflict with the Joesoft Hear audio enhancer.
We've just gotten confirmation from Joesoft that they've released a beta version of Hear that doesn't conflict with After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5. We're recommending that our customers who also use Hear install the 1.0.5b2 (build 490) beta version of Hear.
Let us know on this forum thread whether this solution works for you. We on the After Effects and Premiere Pro teams will monitor this thread for feedback, and we'll make sure that the folks at Joesoft get the information that they need, too.
When reporting back, be sure to let us know whether you've installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update and After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update.

After 2 days trying to get AE and Premiere past the mediacore initialization message, I finally stumbled on this little message. Updating Hear definitely solves the problem!

I'm in process of building a new PC.
I just started working with After Effects and Premiere Pro and my current PC is not really up to all the 1080 footage...
I currently own a E8400 with 8GB DDR2 Ram and some cheap motherboard (Intel DQ35JO) for reference.
I already own 2 x Samsung HD103SJ "Spinpoint" F3 1TB HDDs and a XFX 6850 Black Edition 1Gb which I plan to keep.
I have 2 options:

Ok, let's say skip the overclocking for now (I used to overclock a ton back when it was Celeron 600 and similar CPU time , but I'm tottaly out of it now...not really on track with the overclocking of new CPUs...it used to be simple back in the days)

Combination of this is between 1150-1550 EUR / 1600-2250 USD depending on different choices.
Considering I'm not willing to overclock, is there to expect THAT much of a difference with 980X and 24GB ram against 970/980 (they're priced the same) with 16GB ram (considering it is 30% difference in price...will it be 30% faster in AE and Premiere Pro?)

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 in July this year. I have since had problems with my computer and have had to do a factory restore. Now I seem unable to find a download for my products. When I log into Adobe it shows that I have them in my products list.
How do I re-install?

b. signing in with Adobe ID and Password
c. Typing "My Orders" in the Search field
d. Following the My Orders link to your specific version 12 order
e. At the My Orders, your specific order, location there should be the opportunity to download new installation files
Best to have antivirus and firewall(s) disabled when you do the download and install.

Support for nvidia gtx-980 for after effects and premiere

Can someone tell me when Adobe is going to give CUDA support for the Nvidia gtx-980 video cards in After Effects and Premiere CS6? I purchased this card specifically for those programs, and DON'T want to do a subscription to Creative Cloud. I purchased the Master Collection through Adobe, and understand that CC versions support it. Why can't Adobe issue a btch file or update to include these cards. I am aware of OpenGl support, but I would like to add my new card. I also just purchased an i7-4790K to upgrade from i5-3570 to help speed up rendering, but would really like to see the video card supported.

Workflow is a technology used to support business processes. You can make workflows without thinking/doing business processes. When you do business processes you will always wind up using workflow technology. All business process execution tools should by principle use a workflow engine at least SAP ones do. Not sure about others like Oracle BPEL tools for example.
SAP tools like GP and BPM/XI use either Netweaver Java or Abap workflow embedding the technical aspects of workflow design and runtime into the Netweaver stack simplifying the business user experience as it relates to designing and running business processes. But designing and running workflows using workflow tools directly still is very muc an IT challenge.

Normally an Elements license is valid for both Windows and Mac systems. So you might only need to download the Mac versions of the applications and use your serial number to activate them.

Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
