Delay after song in Garage Band

ok, so i recorded a live DJ mix set (on vinyl) onto Garage Band. it came out great, crisp, clear, yada yada yada. i break up the big long song file into each song part (there are 4 in total) and i send them to my iTunes.
here's the problem....
when i play the songs and it's about to switch over from one song to the next, there's a gap! ahh! now, ask ANY DJ, and they'll tell you that they HATE any kind of delay inbetween songs. i wanted it to go right into the next one, but i can't have that because of the delay. how do i get rid of that? does anyone know? i tried taking the song from iTunes, opening it up in Garage Band, deleting the delay at the end, and it STILL put it on back in iTunes...
help! please! someone!

To set the pause length between songs:
Choose iTunes > Preferences.
Click Advanced and then click Burning.
Choose a setting from the Gap Between Songs pop-up menu.

The volume reverts back to a default? low level. How can I retain the volume I assign in Garage Band, so that when the song moves to iTunes it doesn't revert?

  • I need help with cutting and changing an already made song in garage band on the IPad.

For a school pep rally I'm looking to write some music on drums that our drumline will perform in the pep rally. In the song although I'm looking on taking a few measures out of the song "Some Nights" by Fun. and putting it during a long rest we'll have for a really good effect on the song. To do this I saw that garage band had a sampler where I could cut music and play those cuts instantly with a touch of a button, and I was hoping that it would be possible that I could buy the song and some how import it to garage band so that I could play around with it a little bit.
I've still yet to find any way of doing this although and I'm looking for any suggestions you guys might have! The pep rally isn't for a good 3 or four weeks so I've got a good amount of time, But the sooner anyone can help the better!
                                                           Thanks for your time!

This is a poor way of doing this but the only way I found to do this is to record your music into the sampler using the microphone then record the sample. I don't like doing this because of clarity and lack of manipulating the track once created. It would be nice if GB added this feature. Also it would be cool if you could mix down the tracks into one so we could have more tracks to work with.

  • Import a song to Garage Band

Why (why why why) can we not import a song sent via email directly into "music", "Garage Band", etc? Or is there a way? It seems ridiculous (bordering idiotic) that this isn't built in. Apple is so wondrously intuitive in every other area this oversight is baffling. Or am I the idiot and the answer sits in front of me somewhere?
I already know how to import any given song by doing so within iTunes via the application specific upload via my desktop or laptop, but lets say I'm sitting on a desert island next to my good friend Wilson, with no access to a computer, but have (miraculously there is a wifi signal) received an email with a song I would just LOVE to edit/add to in Garage Band. How would I do that?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can't Import Right Protected AAC songs into Garage Band

I have always been able to take a track from my iTunes library (whether the track was a purchased iTunes or one ripped from a CD) and bring into Garage Band to play with (I'm currently trying to make christmas ringtones for my Droid). All of a sudden, Garage Band is giving me an error code that I can't import songs that are right protected. I just imported (and saved as a ringtone) a song and now, 20 minutes later I can't do it. Does anyone have an answer for me? I appreciate any feedback.

It was never possible to import DRM protected songs from iTunes. The others were probably unprotected songs (which you can buy on iTunes too).

  • Delays with Powerbook G4 Garage Band, MIDI,

So whats the deal here? Im using the midi keyboard and there is a super slight delay, its buggin the crap out of me...Does anybody have any ideas? I have the newest powerbook and theres a ton of memory and no programs are running, jus garage band.

    super slight delay
The key words are 'super slight'. I find the latency using my usb2 keyboard so slight that it in no way interferes with my rhythm. (notice my specs). I have noticed less latency using my M-AUDIO - Keystation 49e controller. I was using a MIDI Sport interface connected via MIDI cables to my other keyboard. The Keystation seems to take one step out of the process and I notice a slight improvement in the note entering.
What type of connection are you using? While there will be less latency because of your processor, usb 2 is still usb 2. The speed of notes registering in your computer depend on the connection. Firewire interfaces should be faster and Firewire 800, even more so. I am very satisfied with usb2's speed and latency. I can play fast passages and stay in tempo easily.
The other thing to consider are effects. I record everything dry, unchecking every effect box.

  • Help please: I edited an 8 min song in Garage Band to 2 min but iMovie sees it still as 8 min????

I have a new MacBook Pro with Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11 that came with it.
I edited an 8 minute song into 2 minutes to use in iMovie BUT iMovie isn't reading the newer version of the song; it reads the original.  I tried renaming the file, remixing the song, and still iMovie plays it as the original 8 minute song.  In fact, four renamed versions of the song show up in iMovie under Garage Band and yet they are all the same.
Oh, I also made sure the little purple line was right at the end of my 2 minute sound track and not left where the original song was before I started cutting it.  Still, the same problem.
What am I doing wrong?  Any insights would be most helpful!  It's been about two years since I've used Garage Band - and even then I only used it about ten times -  so treat me like the rookie that I am, ok?
Thanking the Apple Support world-at-large in advance,
    GG

Anyway, Leonie, you did give me one little jeweled piece of information that confirmed what I vaguely remembered from the last time I was putting together videos - once the file is in iMovie, any changes I make outside of iMovie need to be imported back in once again.  That's why I instinctively kept renaming the files.  Thank you for that.... each little piece of info helps, no?
That is on of the irritating aspects of iLife application integration - one would expect, that changes do sync, but they don't.
I'm using version 10.01 andyou two are using the previous generation.
Actually, I am using both versions. I assumed from your first post, that you would be using iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 and not the current version 10.0 - you wrote:
Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11
The version numbering is not the best effort on Apple's part.
But you are right - version 10.0 is not yet as robust as iMovie '11 has been. For serious work I am still mainly using  iMovie '11; I am more or less only paying around with the new version 10.0 to explore it. Final Cut has not yet given me any trouble, but I only use it for effects that are not available in iMovie '11.

  • TA48312 Powerbook G4 10.5.8  after updates for Garage band lost audio driver

I got Garage band to boot up along with protools LE 8.0 but i lost I/O audio driver from system preference and use of usb for protools hardware..

This was one of the long list of issues that arose when Leopard was first released. If you have a search through the older threads relating to Leopard issues, of which there are thousands, you may find an answer. My suggestion would be to go back to Tiger. I have given up on Leopard twice and will not go back on a G4. There are just too many of these 'funky' issues. The disc utility is what killed Leopard for me.
Sorry i couldn't be of more help.

  • Editing songs for garage band 08 using itunes. and how to record it to a cd

i'm new to the mac. and tryed to use garageband 08 i was able to edit a few songs using itunes. but how am i able to put it on a cd. and how can i delete the others that i started. also when editing songs from itunes what version of garageband is needed magic garageband or podcast ?

Garageband is not a audio editor (although it can be used for some editing) it is a multitrack recording studio with a few extras thrown in.
Making playlist and burning CD can all be done in itunes.

welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It is not quite clear from your question, if you are asking about GarageBand on your MacBook Pro or GarageBand on an IOS device (iPad, iPhone)? For you posted in the GarageBand for IOS forum, but your "Profile" signature says MacBook Pro?
If you want to know about GarageBand on your Mac, start from the GarageBand Support page: http://www.apple.com/support/garageband/
Here are some easy to follow Video Tutorials:Video Tutorials
Most help is accessible from the "Help" menu in the GarageBand main menu bar: Click the "browse Help" button and look at the part "Create a Song Arrangement", i.e. the section "Arrange Regions in the Timeline": Split and join regions:
If you are asking about GarageBand on your iPad/iPod, the online manual is here:
    http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/1.3/index.html#chsff8c89b
Again, see the section on "Edit Regions" on how to trim, split, and cut regions: Edit regions

  • Funky bluetooth keyboard after upgrading iPhoto, Garage Band etc an hour ago

I upgraded iPhoto etc. an hour or so ago. Since then, my Apple Bluetooth keyboard has been behaving strangely (can't make a capital I  using the left shift key; clicking on a document makes it scroll out of control). Help.

Ok, I've resolved this on my machine, at least for the time being.
Here is what I did. I am not advising anyone else to do this and I am in-no-way stating this will fix your problem. I'm just relaying what worked for me. If anyone chooses to try this then it's on their own head!
I opened my Mac Mini and located the Bluetooth circuit board just in front of the rear power button. I removed the small phillips screw holding the board in place and noticed that the connector that connects the board to the main motherboard was not seated well. I removed the connector and reattached it, making sure I felt the 'click' as the connector was pushed home.
I had also read on the net that the routing of the bluetooth ariel cable may cause problems due to interference from the USB ports. I took the opportunity to extract the ariel and run it over the disk and away from the USB ports. Before putting the lid back on I booted up to check Bluetooth was working again.
So, I now have my Mac Mini with Bluetooth working again. We shall see how long this lasts - perhaps the root cause was a loose connection, in which case it may be fixed permanently now. I shall report back in a few weeks.
Be aware that opening your Mac is going to invalidate any warranty. Mine was out of warranty anyway so I was not bothered. I've also got a degree in software and electronic engineering so know my way round the insides of computers. Please make your own assessment of your level of expertise before deciding to try what I did. It may not work for you anyway!
