Delay between pushing power button and startup chime

When I push the power button to turn on my Macbook, I have to wait a longer time for the startup chime to chime. Anybody know of a reason/solution?

What happened at the Apple store that caused my computer to do this.
It passed the diagnostic check with flying colors. So I got the green light from the Genius to purchase the MacBook Pro.
Got home.
Pushed power.

What happened? He said it would be like a new MacBook Pro when I got home and turned it on. This isnt like that at all.

It's trying to boot from a Boot Camp volume that doesn't have a working installation of Windows. Restart and hold down the option key until you see one or more disk icons. Select the one representing your Mac OS boot volume and press return. When the boot is complete, open System Preferences > Startup Disk and set the Mac OS volume as the default boot device.

Now that you mentioned it, that might be the source of the problem. Something was definitely wrong with my graphics card before the incident happened. You mean that particular batch of graphics cards had some inherent issues, right? I went to the genius bar, and the 'genius' there, without trying to diagnose the problem properly, just adviced me to buy a new mbp! He said Apple will no longer try to fix or touch macs older than 5 yrs. Mine is 5.5 yrs old...

Going direct into the wall, through a power strip. By iteslf, with other devices plugged in. I removed hard drives, and some RAM, and nothing. Sometimes it would not turn on, and then some minutes later it works. So its was sparatic, but now its been the same situation for three days where it wont turn on.
I'm guessing power supply, but I wanted to see if anyone had a similar expereince and what the solution was, before I drag this beast to my local Apple store and have them look at it. Its a real pain to get it there and back and I want to be armed with some info for them. I already dragged this to them when it first started to do this, and of course it started up just fine for them. And you know if it works for the Genius then theres nothing wrong with. No matter what you explain to them.
I figure if anyone had a the same problem and was able to resolve it, I can relate that experience to the Genius even if it start up for them.

Try a SMC Reset using the extended method:
Remove the AC power cord.
Press the power-on button. [This drains the stored charge from the power supply]
wait a quarter minute.
Restore the power cord, being certain to JAM it into the socket, as the big block of rubber inhibits proper seating.

If no joy, examine the button battery half-hidden behind the graphics card. Remove it to measure the Voltage. A new battery should not cost over US$5, and measures a little over 3 Volts. BR-2032 is used in garage door opener controls and car door locks controls. The geeks at Radio Shack can measure it for you.

Black screen after power on and startup sounds repeats

Hi,
yesterday evening during a WOW session the screen went gray and the iMac did not respond to anything. I pressed the power button and started again. I got a black screen and the startup sound repeated endlessly.
This morning the same. I checked the RAM modules in my macbook; they are ok.
It is an early 2008 iMac 2.8 with NVIDIA graphic. Resetting PRAM or NVRAM does not work. Screen always stays black and the startup sounds repeats itself after pressing the power button.

If that does not work, insert your Mac OS X installation disc and start up (or restart) with the C key held down. Does it start up properly from optical drive?

Elite 2540p laptop won't when I push power button

When I push power button, my laptop Elite 2540p won,t turn on. I used charger, then found a blue light appeared and closed. then I removed battery and supplied power from charger, nothing happened. again I used battery and and pushed power button to turn on, but of no use. Now charger again connected and power given, "orange light is blinking".
What should I do now?

IPhone4 will not turn on. Tried reboot with home button and power button, and tried with sim out. Left on charge for an hour and nothing. Tried plugged into PC and nothing. Tried holding any and all buttons one at a time and plugging into PC and nothing.

This is for my wife's iPhone 4
She was on a call and went to end the call and the phone just turned off.
Left it on charge for an hour or so and nothing.
I tried the old reboot (home button and power button) and nothing
I tired with the sim out.
And with it plugged into a PC, opened iTunes and it didn't recognize that the phone was plugged in.
I tried my PC and nothing.
My phone charges and connects to both PC's
Tried holding the home button then plugging into PC
Tried holding the power button then into PC
I've now been trying different combinations for about 3 hours and now I'm all out of ideas.... :(
Please please can some help before Tuesday when I will have to find someone to repair it.

Sounds like faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple for quick (minutes) free battery diagnostic testing. If you have Warranty or AppleCare the problem will be covered.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You need to restore the iPad.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
If that will not work, you will need to use Recovery Mode to restore.

I have tried with a wired USB keyboard and mouse using a single screen. Powered up with option pressed. No change.

Run the Apple hardware test to see what it tells you. Run the extended test when prompted, which can take awhile.

Hi there. If you have 10.9 Maverick you can get in recovery mode By using /command r Option R or Option. Then you came click on the link to go to disk utilities and repair your disk or do a reinstall of you operating system. I think the screen you are seeing is the recovery screen.
