Delay in connecting incoming phone calls

I have the same issue - Please can someone from Xfinity reply on this issue.

A bit of info on this ... we've been having the same problem for a while (several weeks) -- when we answered the phone, there'd be a longish (~10 sec.) delay before the caller can hear us.  So, if we just picked up the phone and said "hello," the caller didn't hear it and then we'd both sit there, waiting for the other one to respond. Good news for us:  Finally called Comcast Tech Support.  They just did their standard modem re-set, and that fixed it!  I felt a little stupid, because I know the first thing to do with anything that's electronic and gets wonky is to re-boot.  (OK, really, maybe they did something else at the same time that the tech didn't mention.  But she only told me about the modem re-set.) btw There are other threads on this issue, athttp://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Voice-Service-and-Equipment/Delay-in-phone-dialing/m-p/2518859/highlight/false#M26047http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Voice-Service-and-Equipment/Delay-after-answering-a-ring/td-p/1815803 We live in the SF Bay Area.

Jeffrey, Welcome to the discussion area!
I believe that there are 2 issues here. One is how the iMac handles incoming calls. The other is that your telephone service has to send a signal when there is an incoming call.
In traditional phone service, if you are using the phone and someone tries to call you, their call is blocked at the switch (at the telephone company) and they hear a busy signal.
To do what you want, you must ensure that your phone company has the proper configuration to send your iMac the signal that there is another phone call.

Why do my incoming phone call ring on my wife's phone as well as mine?

That is a new "feature" described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.

my my incoming phone calls are being shared with my wife's IPhone as well, both phones are getting the same call, how do I correct?

That is a new feature described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.
You may also want to look into using separate Apple IDs for you and your wife. That is now more flexible with new Family Sharing features: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

  • Incoming Phone Call DND (Do Not Disturb) or ability to send call to voicema

Does anyone know a good way to put a DND (do not disturb) on incoming phone calls? The idea is to send calls directly to voice mail while still leaving the phone on to receive email & text messages. While at work or in meetings, it would be nice to not be bothered by calls especially from specific people. Ideally it would be really nice to one or all of the following:
-Function to send all calls to voice mail without ringing
-An option when an incoming call is coming in to send the person to voicemail with the choice of a prerecorded message such as "In a meeting" or "At work" etc.
-Send specific people to voice mail without ringing, possibly with a prechosen message.

The only option for the iPhone not ringing when a call is received and the same when a text message is received while in a meeting is by turning the silent switch on located above the volume buttons.

  • Drop outs with incoming phone calls

My Broadband drops out when I get an incoming phone call. I've changed the filter (twice) but it hasn't resolved the issue. It seems to be OK with outgoing calls, and doesn't always drop with incoming calls - just about 90% of the time. Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Unable to hear talking on incoming phone calls

I have been having problems with incoming phone calls.  The phone rings but I cannot hear the person on the other end. I have tried to call my home number from my work and my wife can hear the phone ring but she can't hear me talking on the other end.  I have also been having problems with my caller ID coming through on the TV STB.  When I run the troubleshooter it says to contact Verizon.  Could these issues be related?  I have FIOS service (phone, TV, internet).
Thanks in advance for helping solve this.

  • I am receiving my wife's incoming phone calls to her I-Phone

I am receiving my wife's incoming phone calls to her I-Phone. We both have I-phones. How do I fix this?

    Fist of all...
    Dont share Apple IDs.
Every user should have their own...
    That being said...
Go to Settings > Facetime > Iphone Cellular calls (Turn this off)

  • All my apple devices ring with each incoming phone call. How can I stop this?

All of my apple devices ring with each incoming phone call. This includes an iPhone 6, an iPhone 4s, and an iPad mini (FaceTime). We have 2 different phone numbers, but they now seem interchangeable? How can I direct each phone call to its rightful phone?

This is part of Apple continuity.  ON all of the devices go to settings - facetime - turn off iphone cellular calls.
also don't use the same apple id for facetime.

  • Incoming phone calls announced

My Razr Maxx has started announcing incoming phone calls instead of ringing.  How can I turn this feature off?  Android version 4.1.2

And if that still doesn't help, maybe there's some sort of glitch that could be remedied with a system cache clear:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
Should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select

  • How do I stop VCA emails for every incoming phone call

I don't want all these emails cluttering up my inbox. I get an email every time I get an incoming call. Short of uninstalling Call Assistant entirely, how can I stop the email notifications of every single incoming phone call? I have made sure my settings do NOT request email notifications or alerts but it doesn't affect my getting these emails for every phone call that comes in. See example below. I added the header information manually.

I was told by tech support that emails from [email protected] were controlled by Verizon and began getting sent to customers VZ_ID that is not the same as the primary Email account email address, but is the same mailbox. Verizon disabled the "Glitch" and now my VCA and TV Caller ID does not work. I was told the email notification that is entered in the VCA configuration is not the same as the VZ_ID. They stopped the Emails, now I have to bug them to fix what they broke. Don't want to be bothered right now. It is a pain to have something work and then someone breaks it.

  • What happened to the sound on incoming phone calls and other notifications???

I have my sound on "Loud (Active)" as I always do and then all of the sudden it stops making any sounds or chimes when I receive calls, emails, texts or facebook notifications.   My calls and ect. are still coming thru, but just completely silent.  I have to look at my screen to see I have a call coming thru and wait for the little red light at the top to see if I have any text messages and whatnot.   Does anyone know why this could be happening?  Now during the workday I will probably end up missing important phone calls and playing phone tag with people.
    Any help would be appreciated

I have the same problem, the only thing by me is its on and off could be a few days that it should work and then all of the sudden it stops

  • Incoming phone calls while abroad?

    Hello.
I'm planning on traveling abroad in the next few weeks. I know with the new update, you can turn off the EDGE service. But here's my question: can people still dial my number and reach me while I'm abroad? I want to avoid any roaming charges so if this is the case, I'll use airplane mode when not actively using WIFI.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

Incoming phone calls always have priority over any app you are running. You might want to check to see if there is an update for that app. You might also want to restart your iPhone. Hold down the sleep and home button until the screen shuts off (disregard the power off slider and continue holding). After the screen shuts off wait a few seconds and then press the sleep button. After the phone turns back on, test and see if it's working or not. If it's not it could be a problem with either the firmware on your phone or a bug in the pandora app.

  • SPA3000 - delay in transfering incoming PSTN calls to VoIP phone

I have a SPA3000 connected to a WRT54G switch, "phone" port connected to the handset, and "line" port connected to the PSTN. Incoming calls to the VoIP number work fine - incoming calls on the PSTN line experience a delay of sometimes 12 or 15 rings (seems longer) until the handset rings and I can pick up. Is there a setting that configures this, or is it a firmware /software issue?? Any help much appreciated.

There are a lot of things that can cause it.
Best way to get rid of "ECHO" is to downgrade the firmware to 2.0.13. This fixed many peoples "ECHO" problems.
I've found a lot of reports that the 3.1.7 firmware is plagued with echo problems.
