Delay in loading webpages!

I recently started to notice (about 2-3 days ago) that the loading of a webpage was slower than normal. I started to investigate and realized that it was just when loading a webpage and that when I tried to download something or use internet in any other way the speed was the same as always. Let's say that I want to open Apple's web page, when I give the command to go to the webpage the blue status bar in Safari does not move for about 10 seconds. After that the web page loads perfectly and fast. I really don't know what has happened, there has not been any change to my network configuration or hardware, however about a month ago (way more than what the problem has persisted) I asked my ISP to change the Dynamic IP I had for a Static IP so I don't know if this could be influencing in something.
My internet and router configuration is kind of complex (compared to normal use) becuase from the modem that my ISP provides I have connected a Linksys wired router set to "optain IP address automatically". The router is configured to assign a range of IP adresses to other hardware connected to it. To this Linksys router I have connected 3 other routers which are the ones in charge of making my whole house wireless. The routers are: 1 Aiport Extreme Base Station (Wireless N) and 2 Aiport Express (Wireless G). They are both set to "bridge mode" in order for the Linksys to provide all of the IP addresses used and the three Apple routers are configured to use DHCP automatically.
I hope that the lenghty description of the problem and my network setup helps in order to solve my problem!
Thank you very much!

Search for open DNS or public DNS and you will find many to choose from.
You can either enter it directly in the network preference pane on your Mac or you can enter it in the router and allow the router's DHCP service to push that to your devices.
I put the DNS information in my router and it pushes it to all the connected devices.

  • Cannot directly open the browser from the icon. "problem loading webpage" and "timed out" are the messages. Access was accomplished by using yahoo messenger and opening my email. if I attempt to open a new page, I recieve the aforementioned warnings.

no link to open access to the internet. I used Yahoo Messenger, clicked on the 'mail icon' and since Firefox is my default it opened and I was able to continue from there. If I try to click File, open New Page, I get the "problem loading webpage" and "connection timed out" messages

changed my homepage to Yahoo. Now Firrefox works but still cannot access ANYTHING 'Google"!

  • A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.

Was running 2.1.51  and when browsing to the status link while logged in to the web gui I got a blank web page with the following text:
A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.
Reboot router - log back in - can go anywhere except the status page -- get same error page
made the mistake of downloading and upgrading firmware to 2.1.71   = upgrade completed successfully = presented with the new login screen confirming that the box is running the new code -- now when I log in - I don't get in rather the previous error page - and cant get anywhere.
A Critical error encountered while loading webpage.
the url is https://192.168.75.1/scgi-bin/platform.cgi   but it doesn't load only displays the error.
could someone share another valid management url for the box so I can at least try to get in somewhere before attempting to factory reset this POS ;-(
    thanks.

Thanks for the response.   Based on the number of crickets that I heard after asking the question, I did indeed factory reset the box.  Luckily I had a backup of the config so it wasn't too painful to restore.
I beleive the root cause co-incided with the expiration of the trend micro web protection gateway service.
For whatever reason, I did not receive any notification that the service was to expire but the error experienced was noticed just two days after the subscription expired...  I had successfully logged in without issue and was able to view the status tab only a week earlier.
be sure to pay the cisco tax on time or they'll lock you out of your box was the lesson learned...

  • Snow leopard 10.6.8 wifi connected, cant load webpages

    hi!
just yesterday my computer showed this problem with the internet. as the title says, it is connected to the wifi network (as it has always been) but i face the following problems:
i cant load new webpaged in google chrome and firefox (which are the ones that I actually use)
i can load webpsged that were already saved as bookmarks.
i can load webpages in safari
my icon for dropbox shows a red cross icon
    utorrent works just fine
outlook (the software) get's my new emails
what i tried to solve it:
checked that my wifi networks work perfectly fine with other devices in the house
    restart computer
changed DNS to one that was suggested in another thread in this discussions site
    resetting NVRAM/PRAM
    checked that it is updated
so, i read that some people had similar problems with the new 10.8.2 for mountain lion, or sth like that... but in my case i have snow leopard so i don't think thst's the problem

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.

  • Loading webpage problems

    hey guys,
Im having a bunch of problems with loading webpages all of a sudden. I have Mozilla, firefox, and netscape. (accidently deleted safari) and cant get it back until I upgrade from 10.2.8 to at least OS 10.3. Anyway, I have problems getting onto Ebay it all started with Mozilla and once I found out that it wouldnt let me on I switched to firefox after 2 to 3 days later I started using netscape now I cant get on at all using any browser. Even on some of my other pages it loads the page just fine but has troubles loading the pictures. Why am I having so many problems I think its a software problem. I took my computer home over thanksgiving cause I was having the same problems before then and hooked it up to the network at my other house and it worked great there I had everything back. Now its all gone again. Why? I dont think its a networking problem but a software issue.( I need help with in the next 12 hours before 2 pm central time).

    The Solution?
REINSTALL OSX using the Install DVD.
I called APPLE Support and we went through a troubleshooting process to rule out Network Issues, Software Issues, File Issues and Hardware Issues. This process was very thorough.
In the end, we used the Operating System Installation DVD to reinstall the system, which took about 60 minutes including downloading the updates. Reinstallation did not affect any files or lose any applications. Everything was as I left it -- nothing was missing. Easy.
Now everything is back to normal.

  • Serious delay in loading web pages, not network,  but  safari issue

After my last software update, I am experiencing delays in loading web pages, 30sec-minutes on safari. This occurs rather frequently, I'd say about 20%-30% of the times I visit certain web pages.
One example web location I noticed this happening is (but its not the only one):
    http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caqc0363
Once I visit this page, sometime it loads fine, other times it takes forever (the load indicator stays on in the tab). Also, once the delay occurs, opening up new widows or new tabs to ANY other address are also delayed. It seem like all of safari is stuck waiting for responses. (safari itself is still running ok, it is responsive and there is NO spinning wheel of death).
It is not a network issue. Often while waiting for safari to load, I launch firefox, visit the same page and read, meanwhile Safri still loading, even after trying to refresh...I also do other network tasks, ssh, ftp, email with no problem.

Thanx! The numbers didn't help me anything, but your post reminded me: I found the DNS numbers that my ISP had provided that I had put in the Ethernet TCP/IP section in Network Preferences, and just copied and pasted them into my airport TCP/IP section. Worked great!

  • Safari will not load webpages

Safari will not load web pages. The browser hangs and stops loading completel and will not connect to the internet, even though I am perfectly connected to wifi...so I know it's not the wifi that's a problem. I have looked through multiple forums for troubleshooting safari to no avail.
I know for a fact that the problem lies within safari SOMEWHERE, and since the only way for me to connect to the internet is through safari (i'm on a school network that doesn't allow me to connect to any other web browsers), I can't run any updates, reinstall safari, download any programs, etc.
I'm totally stuck in a rut and I don't know what to do...help!

Launch the Terminal application and copy or drag -- don't type -- the line below into the window:
    curl -I http://www.apple.com
Press return. You should get several lines of output below what you entered, starting with this:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Is that what you get?
    Safari will not load webpages
I figured out a way to drag the link into the terminal application, and I did get lines of output starting with HTTP/1.1 200 OK

  • Itunes sound distorted when loading webpages

    Hi,
I recently got a new laptop (like a week ago) and installed iTunes 9. This worked fine at first, but starting yesterday the sound gets distorted half the time I load webpages or open applications.
I've had this before on older computers, and assumed it was because of their limited technical capabilities. I don't think that's the case here, though.
Does anyone have any idea where the problem could be situated? Or might it be technical after all?
    Thanks in advance!
    Greetings,
    Steven

Sounds like your audio midi settings are not being stored properly.
I'd try deleting com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist and resetting
    audio midi.
As you know, iTunes only reads the audio midi settings when it starts
up, so I'd do that with itunes not running.

  • Process Chain delayed to load

    hi Experts,
am using BI 7.0(BW 7.0) my process chain is scheduled to run daily morning, it works fine, sometimes it gets delay in loading the data for even a longtime or stucks in the early start itself. Please help me in having a solution so that the process chain doesn't stuck or how to reduce the loadtime.
    thanks
    Sankaresh S

One reason could be the system resources are maximum utilized when this process chain was about to start. If it's the case you can change the schedule time.
You can check the Monitor screen - details tab for further information when it gets hanged and also check the job log / status of job in SM37 / any dumps recorded in ST22  ?

  • IPhone using Mac Mini's internet connection sharing, stops loading webpages

Bought an iPhone 1 hour ago.
I'm sharing my internet connection to my iBook and MacBook from my Mac Mini. Works fine.
    Can't connect using the iPhone.
It will detect the network, it will show full network reception, but it will only load webpages for the first 10 seconds and then stops.
Tried removing the password, fixing a channel, resetting the iPhone (full reset), the "forget this network" trick, nothing worked.
It will load web pages in the first 10 seconds of detecting my open network. Its highly frustrating...
Any suggestions? Maybe using the restore option from iTunes instead of the reset ones from iPhone? Will this try to reinstall the latest firmware?

Very similar case here -- I bought an iPhone just yesterday, set it up with internet sharing on my Mac Mini, and am getting random (but frequent) failures connecting via wifi. Small web pages can get through sometimes, large (or complex) web pages almost always hang during loading, e-mail pretty much never works.
However, using "edge" works just fine.
I've nosed around these forums a bit (and googled for this problem a bit), and it does seem like there are a number of users having this sort of trouble. However, some folks with this problem have noted that they can run wifi just fine at other hotspots. (I haven't taken my phone to another hotspot yet, maybe I'll try tomorrow...) And I've shared my internet connection to other PCs from my Mini successfully before. So, in my opinion, this problem does not appear to be an actual hardware fault in either the iPhone or the Mac Mini, but rather some disagreement between the settings chosen on both sides; my guess is that this'll take a driver modification in either or both to fix, rather than a replacement of either the iPhone or the Mini.
    Just my current guess, though.

  • Web browsers not loading webpages

Overnight, a couple of days ago, my web browsers (Safari and Chrome) both stopped loading webpages. When I click on a link, I get a blank page. But when I am logged as a guest or browse through Vmware's windows I can still browse normally. Thanks for helping to fix this.

    Thank you Carolyn,
I've got Sophos installed from long time ago. That's the only antivirus that is installed.
Checking in firewall settings didn't help I think, cause even after desactivating the firewall temporaly didn't fix the issue in both web browsers.
This issue is not discussed in Mac malware guide.
Another detail, is that some web content will load like this discussion group or google search. But If I click on any item from google search, the page won't load.

  • Mac Pro Slow to load webpages

Almost overnight, My MacPro (late 2009 Dual Quad, 2 1Tetra HD) started to REALLY slow down when loading webpages on both Safari and Firefox. Some times , I will get the "safari can't find browser" message...and if I try it again, it will load....after it loads and I go back to in within the same internet session, it is usually ok. And these are my topsites that I go to all the time. Did not know if anyone had any ideas. I tried to find if there were some type of diagnostic software, but could not find it.
Could I possibly have a virus...if so any suggestions on how to rid myself of it.

My MacPro (late 2009 Dual Quad
    Sig shows 10.4 my friend!
Also, 3 x 2GB (or 4 x 2GB) is basic, I would hate to see someone running with less than 6GB, and some have a need for 12-24GB easily.
Keep your system in good shape with SuperDuper and Disk Warrior (clone it over to a new drive). Installing a system and apps can really fragment all the free space and while files may not be, it still helps to clone once in awhile, and optimize free space etc.
For some apps, 8GB really is not a lot (CS4/5 for instance_) though I'm sure you'll find those that say their system is 'fine' with that amount for their work. Others really need more (fast raid0 for boot; scratch; and media).
Avoid 'green' drives for active work. And while fast, a full 1TB drive full track seek is still going to be slow... another reason to clone/optimize.
