Delay in recorded audio on playback

Hi, tracking vocals today and after I record a vocal and hit play, I don't hear anything immediately and then it pops in after a few seconds....wasn't doing this yesterday...
thanks

If you have any delay producing plugins on the track you record on or on the master track the delay is normal. However you can avoid it by using the 'low latency mode' switch which is located in the transport bar:

If the switch is not present, rightclick in the transport area to open the following menu:

In the menu you just have to tick the highlighted square:

Thanks samplaire, I'm trying to figure out which plugins are delay causing plugins but I will mess around with the low latency mode. When should this mode not be on?

  • Delay when recording audio compared to my midi click

Im using my Powerbook G4 1.5G and a Presonus Firebox to record audio with a midi click. I´m using the firebox mixer for monitoring and have switched off logic software monitoring. I have no latency when listening while recording, but when listening to the recorded file, it´s delayed compared to the pre-recorded click loop.
This is what I don´t understand. Why is the recorded file delayed? I have the delaycompensation off. It does not matter if I record on the internal disk or a Lacie external firewire disk.
I have a G4powermac and a motu 2408 mk3 with no problems like this what so ever.
Should i do a midi signal output correction? Is this really necessary on a setup today? Why do I not have the same problem on my G4 Powermac?
I hope somebody have an idea.

there is always some latency when the signal goes thru the computer.
you can do a test and determine how much delay you are seeing and then
    go to:
    audio/audio hardware & drivers/drivers
and in the recording delay box put in the amount to be compensated for.
With my setup i fugured out that I had 57 ms of delay.

  • Recording Audio for Playback

    Hello,
I work with a university making language learning CDs in
Flash CS3 which are often used in locations where there is no
    internet access.
I have the impression from my readings that audio can only be
recorded for playback using the FMS and not locally. Is this
accurate? We would like to allow students with no internet access
to play back recordings they have just made of their attempts to
    say their new words.
    Any advice?
    Thanks for reading!
    David Martin

Yes, the audio is never stored even temporarily stored on the
users machine. It is streamed in real-time up to the server and
stored as .flv files which can later be played back from the
server. There is a company I know of which offers this server
recording as a service. It's called www.userplane.com The company I
work for has our own FMS servers and let users record to the server
but this is a lot more work then just using a company to provide
you with this service. So you can go either way. But there is audio
    stored on the users machine.

  • Recording Audio Playback offset/delayed

As a loyal Logic member since version 7, I recently started having a problem when playing back audio tracks.  The audio seems to playback behind the beat.  Is there a recording playback offset or delay option perhaps I accidently switch on or altered?
    Please help.
    Terrytagg

Are these recently recorded audio tracks?
If so.. look at:   Preferences/Audio  See the "Record Delay" adjustment? It should be set to zero.
PlugIn Delay Compensation should be set to:  Audio and Sortware Instrument Tracks.
    Low Latency Mode disabled.

  • Record audio Left channel mono playback

I'm new to Captivate and setting up a microphone for recording audio.  Recording equipment is a single microphone into an E-Mu 0404 USB interface.  The interface has 2 mic inputs.  The mic is plugged into the left channel.  Sound is recorded fine, but only plays back on the left channel.  How can I get the single channel treated as mono so playback is on both ears?
    Thanks

    Hi there
Assuming you can do so, perhaps consider a Y connector that makes the mic feed into both channels.
Also, report this to Adobe as I've seen many posts here regarding stereo and only hearing one channel.

  • How do I fix the Audio Delay when recording Voiceovers?

I've been recording voiceovers in Final Cut Pro X and noticed that its a huge delay in the audio when I play it back. The recording is like a second or two behind making the voiceovers sound wayyy off to whats actually goin gon in the video. Is there any fix to this or is this a hardware issue? I'm running Final Cut Pro off of an External harddrive since my Macbook Pro can't handle the program as well. Its a 2009 17 inch. 4 Gigs of ram....150 Gigs of storage space left running on Mavericks. Any info is appreciated.

The VO or the video is a connected clip. You can trim it and move it according to your needs. Or do I misunderstand the issue?

  • Macs and 24bit audio - About Playback and also Can I record?

So I have a a few questions about macs and their abilities with 24bit audio.
I have a new MBP Unibody and from the looks of it (by looking at the audio midi setup utility) I can playback 24 bit audio - do I require an optical cable to do so, or can your standard Mini>RCA/Phono output 24 bit sound (presuming I feed it into a 24 bit playback system).
Also, I know that most high quality vinyl rips are recorded at 24bit/96khz. I wasn't sure how to go about recording those on my mac myself until I noticed in that audio midi setup that for inputs I can set it to 96khz and 2ch-24bit. Again my question is: can I do this with the standard line in, or do I need special equipment to do so? Also what software should I record it with? Will Soundtrack Pro do the trick or should I step itup to Logic?
    Any help would be amazing.

I did it with iMovie, but Garageband will record audio also.
There is also Audacity, which is supposed to be good. I have not tried it: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I would like to record audio (from a radio) and be able to play it back while it is recording or at a later time. I can do this with DVD-RAM DVD recorder but would like to do it in a simpler manner.

  • HT2375 Logic Pro 9 is playing back recorded audio tracks ahead of MIDI tracks

When recording audio all of a sudden, my playback of any recording is faster than the MIDI recording.   My software instruments are on time, but audio or guitar play through audio is always just a step ahead when recorded through live input monitoring.   I've reinstalled Logic Pro to try and fix it, and no change.  Any ideas?

Hello there is no problem in audio recording delay
just check your pref ........ midi ......... sync ...... delay ( 0.0 ) ( Reset once again change the value and return it to zero ( 0 ) )

  • Sync of recorded audio and FLV video.

    Hey guys,
I'm having a major problem. I'm trying to create a project
that involves recording audio based on a video and then playing
them back together in sync. The recording is sent to a Flash Media
Server and the video comes from a local file.
When recording starts I create the netConnection and
netStream respectively. I then create an onStatus even for the net
stream so that what the status code == NetStream.Publish.Start the
    video begins to play.
Then when I play back the recording I create an inStream for
the newly recorded file to play through. Once its onStatus event ==
"playing" the my local video file starts.
To me this all seems logical but there are obvious sync
issues. I've managed to capture a delay between my initial call for
my outStream to publish and the time that it actually sends the
onStatus event. I've tried thinking of ways to use this data to
affect my playback but nothing has worked right now.
Hopefully someone out there has worked on a similar project
or at least has experience with these types of things.
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Mr. PinC

I have been searching the internet for days on a simple, standard answer for my problem. I am shooting video using a Canon 5d mark II and recording audio separately using an Olympus LS-10. I want to sync the audio from the Olympus to the video from the 5d mark II. I am editing with Final Cut Express 4. When I try doing it manually, the audio from the Olympus seems to be in between frames and I cannot line them up exactly.
I exported the movie files through MPEG Streamclip to Apple DV/DVCPRO-NTSC, 720x480(DV-NTSC). I converted the audio files in Itunes to AIFF files at 48khz and 16 bit stereo.
What are the exact settings I should be using for the video and audio?
Do I need to change the frame rate of the video?
Do I need to change the sample rate or speed of the audio?
Is there a way to slide the audio clip in between frames?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help!
I suspect a 44.1 crept in during transcoding.

  • Recording audio from device on server

I have some really nice audio recording gear hooked up to my computer, and I got a neat idea. I want to turn my PC into a web server and serve a flash application from it that allows a user to record audio from MY hardware (basically record the output of a mic hooked up to the "server") and then download the resulting audio file to his or her computer. Is this possible to do using a single flash application? I'm sure I could send commands to a C application on the "server" that would do the recording, but I'm wondering if there is a more simple solution. Also, monitoring the audio while it is being recorded would be nice.
    Thanks

The issue I see with iTalk and similar iPod apps is that the iPod has no line-level input, so you'd have to use one of the earbud/microphone combinations or an external microphone like this one which will be limited as to quality. There are some other options here. But if you want pro quality, and particularly want to tap straight off of a mixing console, a device like the Alesis is going to be necessary, though there may be something less expensive that I can't find.
If a microphone works for you, then iTalk might be fine. There's a freeware version of iTalk, iTalk Lite, you can try, to see if it will do the job. It doesn't have the advanced playback controls and has a limit of 2MB per recording, but it should allow you to test it out. Voxie is another possibility.

  • Recording Audio From A Sound Board

I was originally planning on buying a Samson Zoom H2, H4N, or ProTrack Stereo Recorder to begin recording audio at concerts I attend using the house sound board, but began wondering if the iPod Touch had the same capability, perhaps by adding an app of some kind. It would also be useful to record audio from weddings I videotape. I know there are voice recorders such as the Belkin that you can attach, but I was thinking more of connecting the iPod directly, by using a 1/4" to mini cable adapter. Is this possible? If so, what app would enable me to do this?

  • Recording audio into logic?

hello, how can you record audio straight into logic express 7,i have an audio interface, just dont know how to control logic to do this.i know how to record it onto my hard drive, but just thought you might be able to record it into logic ,like you would recording midi, into a track etc..thats if you can do it at all ?
    hope this makes sense.
    thanx

When you record the track segment you are creating is saved on your hard drive. It is not data that is saved as part the song file itself. It is more like a link. Each segment is separate so you are going to create a new one each time you record a part of your song. Logic wants to place them into a common folder.
Logic needs to have a path to those files so it can access them for playback. It is best to have them in the song file folder rather than somewhere else on your hard drive. When you follow through with setting the audio path Logic will create the necessary folders for the different types of files it will need to access.
When you create a new song file it does not have that audio path. So, you either set up the link/path after you create a new song file, or when you try to record your first track segment, Logic will ask you to set that path before recording.
    Hope that helps.

  • When recording audio, the soundwaves dont show in the audio region.

I think i must of changed settings accidentally or somewhat, because prior to this, there was no problem. However, now when i record i cant see soundwaves (im not sure what they're called) in the audio region. please help, its really giving me problems cos i really wna record audio.

Try the waveform zoom slider in the lower right hand of the arrange.
If that's not it then check your recording delay in preferences>audio, supposedly if it is set too high what you describe happens.
