Hope somebody will help me..It takes about 4 minuits to start up my mac lion 10.7.2..how can i speed up that?

Yes, I'm sure you will run faster with more RAM. I didn't mean it's the solution to your boot time problem, I said it wasn't helping. It also depends which part of the startup sequence is talking so long. If it boots fairly quickly to your Desktop picture, then as Allan says, there may be apps opening.
There is a "Resume" feature in Lion which will open apps in the same state they were in when you shut down the last time. Is this happening? Open apps are indicated by a blue dot under their icons in the Dock.
Or you Mac could be searching for your startup disk, which was mentioned.
Do a restart then go to /Applications/Utilities/Console.log and post the section of your "All Messages" log from the time of startup to the time it's loaded. i.e. those 4 minutes.

Hi all,
when I open a java file or any text file more than 100 lines of code
it is getting delayed for 5 seconds. when I open small files it is not a problem.
what will be the problem? could anyone can advice my what will be the probelm in the following file?

I added your suggestion i put textPane().setText(sb.toString()); so now it reduced to two seconds. But still two seconds letme try to avoide those two seconds..>You might try:
1) Always posting code delimited by the 'code' tags. To do this, select the code and press the CODE button above the text area. This makes code easier to read, and easier to understand.
2) Moving the call setText() outside the read loop. That is not the way to update a JTextArea (or JTextPane ..or whatever it is being used).
If that does not work for you, I suggest
3) Posting an SSCCE.
4) Adding Duke stars (never hurts).

Photoshop delay while opening images

Hi. Just one quick qestions to all CS5 users here.
If I open up an image (small or large does not matter) it pops up into photoshop CS5, but i have a delay of 3-5 seconds before i am able to move the image window, use a brush or any other tool on it.
The same image opend in PS CS4 pops up and I immediatly can move the image and use all tools to it.
By the way, the same thing with illustrator CS5!
Any idea? I have all updates installed!

What trouble-shooting steps have you taken so far (trashing prefs, system maintenance, validating fonts, …)?
And has the OpenGL setting in Preferences – Performance any influence on the issue (don’t forget restarting the program for the changed setting to take effect).

Anyone know how to work around this?
I've got all the fonts in my library and embedded in Director. (Do I need to dump them from my DIR? Dump and reinstall?)

Two bits of advice:
1) Pare down your code to no more than 30-50 lines. Enough to compile and show the problem, but not so much as to make our eyes bleed, and for no one to want to read your post or help you.
2) You would be wise not to state that your problem is "urgent". Even if it is urgent to you, realize that it is not urgent to us. Many here take offense to this as it implies to them that a) the poster thinks that his post is more important than everyone else's, and b) that the poster wants to put pressure on the volunteers who come here to help on their own free time. Just a friendly word of advice.
I'll be happy to help when you've posted a reasonable amount of code. Good luck!

PhotoshopCS on Mac crashes while opening

Photoshop CS on Mac OS 10.3.9 crashes while opening reading
patterns - I beleive a large custom pattern has corrupted but I
can't get open to delete. Where do I find on my hard drive to throw
out?

Rosetta is not included Lion, if you are not familiar with Rosetta it was an application included in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard that allowed PPC based apps to run on Intel based machines. That was over 5 years ago so it's time to move on. As has been suggested you can read those documents in Pages which is available on the App Store. Pages is part of the iWorks suite that replaced AppleWorks years ago. Currently iWorks is on iWorks 09 , and includes Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You can find each on the App store.

Is your problem due to the keyboard or to NeoOffice Characters? You have to change probably the font. Not all fonts are supporting all Unicode sets. Which font you have in your NeoOffice set to write Tamil? Try with Arial Unicode MS for example.
Are the letter e-Ex and ai-Ex right in your posting? If they are right, how you inserted these letters in your posting? By copy and paste or by typing? If by typing, your question is related to NeoOffice. Probably you should reinstall or update NeoOffice? Or switch to OpenOffice?

Mac Apps freeze while opening

Hi,
My Mac Applications are freezing while opening. Mail, Safari, Calculator, Textedit, Preview, and Mac Help Viewer all freeze up either upon opening or as soon as I try to interact with them. Other apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, MSN Messenger, IE, and Word work just fine.
I have used Disk Warrior to reapair the HD and I have used Disk Utility to reapair permissions. I don't know what else to try.
Any suggestions?

Files lagging while opening

Hi there, i have a Mac OSX V.10.7.5 and 3.4 GHz i7 8GB Ram.
Indesign and Photoshop open files very quickly, but illustrator while opening any type of file—whether it's an AI Cs6 file or EPS file or SVG file—there is at least a 20 second delay.
Any thoughts?

Trash your illustrator prefs
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. Your current settings are deleted.
A more thorough way is to delte the folder users/library/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings
If you are in lion then your user/library folder may be hidden
Open Finder
Open the Utilities folder
Open a terminal window
Copy and paste the following line in:defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
Press return
Now hold ‘alt’ on the keyboard and right click on the Finder icon
Click on Relaunch

While opening an applet in my mac os x v10.6.8 machine i am getting "Bad Applet class name exception" which is working fine in mac os x v10.7.5.Java version in my mac is 1.6.0_43.Can anyone please help me to resolve this.

Apple barred Java from running on Macs in order to safeguard users by blocking Java 7 Update 11 and adding it to the banned list in XProtect.
This was the second time in two weeks that Apple had blocked Oracle's code from running on Macs. The threat was so serious that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had recommended that all Java 7 users disable or uninstall the software until a patch was issued. This time Java is blocked through Apple's XProtect anti-malware feature.
Java has come under fire as the means by which hackers have been able to gain control of computers. In April 2012 more than 600,000 Macs were reported to have been infected with a Flashback Trojan horse that was being installed on people's computers with the help of Java exploits. Then in August Macs were again at risk due to a flaw in Java, this time around, there was good news for Mac users: Thanks to changes Apple has made, most of us were safe from the threat.
Unwilling to leave its customers open to potential threats Apple decided it's safer to block Java entirely.
In order to block older versions of Flash, Apple has updated its "Xprotect.plist" file so that any versions that come before the current one (version 11.6.602.171) cannot be used on a Mac. Users who have older versions of Flash installed will be greeted with an alert that says "Blocked plug-in," and Safari will prompt the user to update to a newer version.
Macs running OS X Snow Leopard and beyond are affected.

Oracle on Friday February 1 released a new version reportedly addressing vulnerabilities seen with the last build.
Apple disabled Java 7 through the OS X XProtect anti-malware system, requiring users to have at least version "1.7.0_10-b19" installed on their Macs. The release dated February 1 carries the designation "1.7.0_13-b20," meeting Apple's requirements.
Oracle "strongly recommends" applying the CPU fixes as soon as possible, saying that the latest Critical Patch Update contains 50 new security fixes across all Jave SE products.

Mac Lion Version 10.7.3 not Restoring Windows after force quite

I am getting following error after opening Ooo (Open Office org)
"The application “OpenOffice.org” was forced to quit while trying to restore
its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again?"
And nothing is happening after pressing both available button "Restore Windows"
or "Don't Restore Windows".
Even when i am trying to shot down my system Ooo stops me for doing that.
I have to force quite it before restarting/shutting down my system.
Nothing is happening when i am trying to opening any doc or xls file i am
getting same window every time.
I have also tried to install new updated version of Ooo, but problem still
exist.
Steps I followed.
1- Selecte OOo from application list and Make move to trash.
2- Selecte OOo folder from /Users/Fauad/Library/Application Support and make
move to trash.
3- Empty the trash.
4- Install OOo new version.
5- Run it
I have read post about command for terminal like rm -rf .DS_Store
i have tried running it in Appplication, Library/Application support, or on Desktop as well but nothing changed.
As far as i remember the problem is because i have forced quite all open application before shtting down my system.
Please help me how to solve this problem.

Fixed it.
It is OS based problem, since MAC Lione store application state when closing
it.
Solution Steps:
1- Move to trash OOo from application folder.
2- The Library folder is hidden by default so use chflags nohidden ~/Library/
command to unhide it.
3- Move to trash all files which contains OOo in there name from users Library
folder and sub folders.
4- Reinstall OOo.
5- Launch Working

Error while opening illustrator file : The illustration contains an illegal operand.

Few of the production machine at our office is showing error while opening some of the illustrator project files which were working fine a day before.
If the Executive continues to open the document after this error all the work is lost and it becomes blank document.
Has some one been through this issue and suggest any solution.

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.

Hi there,
I'm having trouble connecting a Kodak 3.2 printer to my Mac (Lion OS 10.7.4) - I've tried it on Wifi but no success and the same with usb. The mac is saying Printer not responding.
I've followed troubleshoot on the kodak support site and also done the usual uninstall - reinstall but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

The first question would be if it works while directly plugged in to the machine rather than on Wifi.
