Delayed activation :(

Thought this would be a straight forward process, but....
Moving from PlusNet (who are owned by BT) to BT
Already was on FTTP, so no openreach modem installation is needed.
Seamed like easy and straight forward move...
Before placing an order was told to obtain MAC code. Tried to argue that fiber doesn't need the MAC code, no avail.
Waited 5 working days to have MAC code generated by PlusNEt only to be told when actually placing the order, that no MAC code is needed...
Had explained that I already have fiber wired and openreach modem installed, I still was told that engineer visit would be required, hence 2 weeks lead time
14.02 was scheduled to be the day. Got HH3 through the post, took a day off the work and faithfully waited will 3PM. After 3PM started to become worried, spend 30min passed around and was told that no engineer will be coming and all I need to do is plug the HH3 box myself and wait for the blue lights, which would definitely happening before midnight.
Midnight come and gone, the light remained solid red...
Exactly at midnight the message appered
There is a delay to the provision of your Broadband order which we are currently investigating with our suppliers. We will keep you informed of any progress, please keep checking online for further updates.
Activation Date
Up to midnight
Tue 14 Feb
In Progress
Tried calling BT following morning passed around many people with no-one able to explain where the problem
Current state: - still no Internet, although the light changed to flashing orange.
I had recycled both modems several times and staring to become very frustrated. I really relay on Internet to be able to do my work, my phones work via IP, my television works via IP, so really disappointed by the process.
Any help I can get here?

Oleg

  • Delay Activity in StateMachine Workflow only wakes up after onTaskChanged

    Hi all,
I am creating a simple state machine workflow to send email reminders.
    Its like
    State 1: (InIt) 'Create Task'
State 2: (Event1) 'OnTaskChanged',  IfElse with 'Set State' activity (set to state 3)
(Event2) 'DelayActivity' (set to 10 seconds), Set State (Set to state 2)
    State 3: (init) 'Complete Task'
    State 4: End State
Correlation Token : TokenOne and OwnerActivity is set to the name of the workflow for 'create task' and 'onTaskchanged'.
Scenario 1: Works if there is no 'DelayActivity' event and the workflow goes to 'completed' state.  Invokes the onTaskChanged event.
Scenario 2: If I do add the delayactivity then nothing happens ( I do have log history comments after delay activity.) till I update the 'task item' and then it comes out of the delay activity (might be waking up) and that's it.... done...
workflow remains in 'In Progress' state forever. Never invokes the onTaskChanged event.
Note: When I am debugging, I am attaching owstimer.
    Folks any idea?

    Hi,
Based on your description, your Delay Activity didn't work as expected.

  • Delaying activation for a gift

So I want to give my wife a Droid for Christmas and I do not currently have Verizon. I would like to switch to Verizon with a Droid as a Christmas gift and keep her old number, but obviously switching that over would cause some issues before hand. Does Verizon offer a way to delay activation of a phone for a few days?

If you are talking about porting her current number to Verizon from another carrier, the details of that need to be worked out with Verizon - once Verizon does the port, her other account will be cancelled.
You can delay activation, yes, though the new phone does need to be activated within 30 days to avoid paying full price for the phone. What you may need to do is to purchase the Droid and activate it with a temporary #, that would then be replaced when the port of your wife's current number is complete. These details would need to be worked out with Verizon.

  • BT activation date confirmed and changed 4 times! ...

Back in November last year I had placed an order to move my services (phone and BT infinity 2 at the time) to my new home (new build) and asked for an activation date of 22 December. At the time I paid for line rental for onw year in advance, which I now regret.
Shortly thereafter I started receiving messages and calls from BT stating that my services activation would be delayed and a date of Jan 26 2015 was eventually confirmed. As this date approached, I then got a message that the activation date had actually moved to May 22! Convinced it was an error of some sort (it also appeared on my account information online), I called BT and was assured that it would be much earlier than that but that they could not confirm when at the time. I called again later and it was eventually revealed to me that my current order was not progressing and they would open another. So, I had another order created with a potential activation date of Jan 30, but I was assured that they would try to fast track it. This was around Jan 15.
Time went by and I eventually received calls/messages/emails stating that a Jan 26 date was indeed confirmed for an engineer visit. The 26th came and nobody showed up. I called the next day, and the staff were apologetic about the situation and explained that it was an Openreach issue and that some work was still ongoing to get my services activated. I replied as I had before that many people in my street already had phone and broadband so surely the area was covered (the online coverage checker states that I can get BT infinity 2...). In the end a date of Jan 29 was again confirmed and I asked specifically if they were sure they could make it this time - I was assured that it would be the last slippage.
Sadly, it was not to be. Just yesterday I received a call saying that my service was again delayed and as such I would have to choose another activation date - the earliest offered being Feb 5. The reasons were again to do with Openreach not fulfilling their end of the bargain, and the fact that I was in a "bronze" zone. I replied that I was loosing count of how many times my activation date had been moved and re-confirmed, but was again assured that this would be the last time...
So now, I wait for Feb 5. I am considering cancelling my services with BT altogether but unsure of whether I would get my line rental saver payment back if I do so.
If a mod checks this and is willing to help, I would very appreciative. Thank you.

  • Raiding my balance while delaying service activiation

No service activated when phone activated... I recently purchased a prepaid iPhone 4 and upgraded my basic unlimited plan to the smartphone  unlimited plan, all paid for in advance on this website -- $159.99 for phone and service. I canceled my  basic plan two days before activating my new phone and paid for texts and calls out of my remaining balance, assuming that my new  unlimited smartphone service would be activated when I activated my new  phone. Not so... Verizon did not activate my new service until I noticed that they were still scooping out of my balance two days after I activated my new phone. They said "the order never went through" when I demanded to know why they didn't activate my service when I activated my new phone, even though I had a Verizon receipt in my hand for both the new phone and service. They took $22 from my balance that they shouldn't have. Anyone else have this problem when changing from one prepaid plan to another? If not, BEWARE!!!!! Verizon will raid your balance while they delay activating service, claiming "the order never went through." Verizon, you owe me $22!

  • Click Thru Destination from Third Part Website Metrics

    Hi,
I was interested if anyone has successfully seen metrics for click thru destinations using web advertisements. I can create the campaign schedule (Internet Advertisement) and create the content and get the tracking URL. However, after clicking on the link (tracking url) and viewing the Report in the Campaign Workbench for the campaign schedule nothing appears. I am not sure if this is a bug or not. I am running 11.5.10.2 (haven't applied any marketing patches).
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Mike

    Hi Lauren,
Good questions! A few of my friends recently changed carriers too, so I can imagine how anxious you must feel to find answers.
When changing from one carrier to another, consumers have the option of keeping their existing telephone number. This isn't required, however, and customers can sign up for a different telephone number with their new carrier if they so choose. Regardless of where you purchase your phone -- at one of our U.S. retail stores or on BestBuy.com -- we'll do all the necessary legwork to ensure your account is set up with your preferred carrier as well.
As far as activation is concerned, it depends on how your order is fulfilled. If you place an order on BestBuy.com for store pickup or make your purchase in-store, then the phone is activated at the time of pickup. If you choose home delivery, then the phone is registered to your account prior to shipment. Some additional steps may still be necessary upon arrival, but instructions will be included in the box with your new phone. Many carriers also offer delayed activation services for the holiday season. but it's my understanding these options are only available in-store at the current time.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

  • BT Infinity could not be installed?

    Hello!
Well, today my broadband was supposed to be installed; however there were complications. After the engineer returned from the street cabinet, he informed me that there are mixups between the cabinets as I think he said there were 2 around my area. One I believe is 'normal' and the other is for fibre optic? I may be wrong, but it may make sense to someone in the know.
They were having problems with getting the hub to connect to broadband, as the little broadband light on the hub wouldn't change from orange to green. They came to the conclusion that there is a mixup of 'records' at the street cabinets and that the cabinet which the fibre optic broadband connects to doesn't 'tell' the hub should connect to the internet.
That was it really, they packed up and left because it was out of their hands. They were pretty friendly guys. I'm just confused as to what happens next? - I am kind of left in Limbo and the engineer said that it should be fixed 'very soon' because we are the first of our area to have, or rather, attempt to have fibre optic broadband.
I'm just unsure as to where everything goes now. I still have the VDSL and Infinity Hub all wired up and such, and I 'think' that my contract has already started (18 Months). I'm not too sure on the contract, I will have to phone up and ask. Could someone just explain this all to me in layman's terms as I'm not very enlightened in internet communications and such!
    Thanks!

    Egg-Roll,
What will happen is the order will be delayed whilst the issue is sent back to Wholesale to update their records.  Once this is done the job will be sent back to the engineers to go out and connect you from the right cabinet.
It will delay activation for a few days whilst the errors are corrected.  I am sorry about the delay but normally there is a review date set for the job so we can check for an update on how things are progressing.
If you want drop me an email with your BT account and telephone number and a link back to this thread to [email protected] and I can keep you in the loop so you know whats going on.
    Cheers
    Craig

  • Cannot activate imessage

    Hi there
I upgraded the software on both my iPad and iPhone to iOS 8.2. After updating my iPhone 5s, iMessage will not activate my phone number. The number appears but just says 'Waiting for Activation.' When I cancel the activation and start again it gives the error ' An Error occurred during activation. Please try again.'
I have tried the following steps to resolve the problem which I have seen on Apples site and other forums:
Powering the device off and on
    Resetting the device
    Resetting network settings
Logging out and in to iCloud on both devices
    Restoring the iPhone.
I have sent multiple texts on iMessage and it now comes from my email address instead of my mobile number. I have also seen some reports of iCloud issues but these dont seem to be confirmed by Apple.
I have not changed mobile network and my Wifi is also working correctly.
Does anyone know anything else I can try?
    Thanks

    Thanks Jensguy,
When I checked those settings they were correct. So it did not work for me. However a few hours later the phone number successfully registered itself on the iMessage server itself with no intervention. Seemed to be a case of very delayed activation.
    Thanks again

  • Waiting for my Tbolt to activate....

I purchased the phone at 9:15 today and I am still waiting for it to activate.  The crappy thing about it is that my DX doesn't even work for the time being so I"m basically phoneless until the Tbolt activates.... Anyone else have that issue?

EDIT: There actually is a delayed activation notice currently, so I guess ignore my previous post unless it's crazy long.
The switch is currently taking between 2-3 hours to activate SIM cards. When customers are putting them in the device, they should be left in. DO NOT pull the SIM card, it will cause the customer to go to the "end of the line", waiting for activation in the switch. Advise customers to stay patient. This is not related to the current data card outage in alerts.
There have been some reported LTE issues today.  It could be affecting activations, but I wouldn't think so.  Only thing i might try is taking battery out, reseating the sim card, then powering the phone on and activating again.  I activated my Tbolt on one line on my account and it took about 30 seconds, then i got a new SIM for another number on my account, and same thing, only about 30 seconds.  If power cycling doesn't work, definitely call VZW to see if it's related to the 4G outage or something else.

  • Making sure Qos is working?

    Hi All,
This question has probably been asked a million times but I cannot find a solid answer. We had our routers setup by an external company and I'm not sure if they completely finished the Qos settings on the routers. How do I check?
I am new to QoS so bear with me.
Our setup can be seen in the diagram attached.
The user switches are running AutoQos on each port
    interface GigabitEthernet6/0/46
description ### CISCO VOICE & DATA PORT ###
    switchport access vlan 5
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 10
    srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20
queue-set 2 <-- Not sure why this is set on some switches and not on others
    priority-queue out
    mls qos trust device cisco-phone
    mls qos trust cos
    auto qos voip cisco-phone
    spanning-tree portfast
    service-policy input AutoQoS-Police-CiscoPhone
There is a global QoS config set automatically by AutoQos template.
The Etherchannel-Trunk ports from the user switches to the Core switches and vice versa have the following commands set
    mls qos trust dscp
    priority-queue out
Q1: What Qos settings need to be added to the core switch? I have no phones are attached to it.
Currently we have the following global Qos values set
    mls qos
    mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 32 46 48 56
Q2: What Qos settings need to be added to the router subinterface ports and global configs.
mls qos is not set globally but there are a bunch of policy-maps and class-maps?

  • QoS Class-Based Traffic Shaping (what is Be)

    Guys,
two questions on the output below :
    1. What is the Be, is this an amount per interval that can go over Bc or is it the total amount of data that can be sent?
ie, i interpret the command to read, Bc is the sustained rate per interval and Be is the sustained rate plus another amount, it I would use sommat like this
    shape average 128000 7936 8500
this would show that I could send in total up to 8500 bits per interval
or does it work like this ?
    shape average 128000 7936 564
this would show that I could send in total up to 8500 bits per interval
if it is the first one, you would not expect to be able to configure a Be of less than Bc?
Also, how can you show what traffic is within the Bc and what is in the Be? ie, how much data is being sent out of contract?
    Many kind regards,
    Ken

    Guys,
this is great stuff and I really apprciate it.
    The thing is this.
One one URL it says the following :-
For Class-based Shaping - How it Works
When the Be size equals 0, the interface sends no more than the burst size every interval, achieving an average rate no higher than the mean rate. However, when the Be size is greater than 0, the interface can send as many as Bc + Be bits in a burst, if in a previous time period the maximum amount was not sent. Whenever less than the burst size is sent during an interval, the remaining number of bits, up to the Be size, can be used to send more than the burst size in a later interval.
    The other URL says :-
    DTS How It Works
The Be size allows more than the Bc size to be sent during a time interval under certain conditions. Therefore, DTS provides two types of shape commands: average and peak. When shape average is configured, the interface sends no more than the Bc size for each interval, achieving an average rate no higher than the CIR. When the shape peak command is configured, the interface sends Bc plus Be bits in each interval.
So which one is correct. I am really confused.
As far as I am aware, I am running CB Shaping and not DTS, but when I go into the router configurations I get both options.
    average and peak ?
    Please see example :-
    Metro2(config)#policy-map test1_cos
    Metro2(config-pmap)#class class-default
    Metro2(config-pmap-c)#shap ?
adaptive Enable Traffic Shaping adaptation to BECN
average configure token bucket: CIR (bps) [Bc (bits) [Be (bits)]],
send out Bc only per interval
fecn-adapt Enable Traffic Shaping reflection of FECN as BECN
fr-voice-adapt Enable rate adjustment depending on voice presence
    max-buffers Set Maximum Buffer Limit
peak configure token bucket: CIR (bps) [Bc (bits) [Be (bits)]],
    send out Bc+Be per interval
Many kind regards and thx for the help with this :)

  • SMTP traffic shaping

Hello. I'm trying to restrict SMTP bandwidth to ~640kbit. This should be applied to Se0/0 interface, my device is a Cisco 1760.
    IOS (tm) C1700 Software (C1700-K9O3SY7-M), Version 12.3(6a)
    I've tried this:
    class-map match-all match-smtp
    match protocol smtp
    policy-map smtptraffic
    class match-smtp
    shape average 640000 640000 0
    interface Serial0/0
    ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.252
    ip access-group in-list in
    ip access-group out-list out
    ip nat outside
    service-policy output smtptraffic
    encapsulation ppp
    ip route-cache flow
    VPN-Bucharest#sh policy-map int Se0/0
    Serial0/0
    Service-policy output: smtptraffic
    Class-map: match-smtp (match-all)

5 minute offered rate 0 bps, drop rate 0 bps
    Match: access-group 2

    58902 packets, 33267078 bytes
5 minute offered rate 17000 bps, drop rate 0 bps
    Match: any
When the Exchange server (attached on Fa0/0) starts spitting out mails to the Internet the traffic instantly reaches wirespeed (1mbps), and of course all hell breaks loose (latency, etc). The question is what is wrong with the above config that won't keep SMTP traffic at 640kbit.
I see a "Shaping Active no" there, which doesn't sound good.
    I am definitely missing something.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
    --Adrian.

    Hello Adrian,
there is one strange thing in your show/config given:
    class-map match-all match-smtp
    match protocol smtp
    ----snip----
    Class-map: match-smtp (match-all)
    59977 packets, 83502451 bytes
5 minute offered rate 0 bps, drop rate 0 bps
    Match: access-group 2
    ----snip----
Why does ACL 2 show up int the show policy-map command, when you have configured NBAR (match protocol smtp)?
Are you sure those two outputs are from the same router with the same config? Can you please highlight the underlying reason for this inconsistency? If not a reboot might help ...
Otherwise you might also leave away the Bc and Be values and just take "shape average 640000".
Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

  • MPLS VPNs - Latency

    Hello All,
I have a MPLS VPN setup for one of my sites. We have a 10M pipe (Ethernet handoff) from the MPLS SP, and it is divided into 3 VRFs.
    6M - Corp traffic
    2M - VRF1
    2M - VRF2
The users are facing lot of slowness while trying to access application on VRF1. I can see the utilization on the VRF1 is almost 60% of it's total capacity (2M). Yesterday when trying to ping across to the VRF1 Peer in the MPLS cloud, I was getting a Max response time of 930ms.
    xxxxx#sh int FastEthernet0/3/0.1221
FastEthernet0/3/0.1221 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is FastEthernet, address is 503d.e531.f9ed (bia 503d.e531.f9ed)
      Description: xxxxx
      Internet address is x.x.x.x/30
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 2000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
         reliability 255/255, txload 71/255, rxload 151/255
Encapsulation 802.1Q Virtual LAN, Vlan ID  1221.
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
I also see a lot of Output drops on the physical interface Fa0/3/0. Before going to the service provider, can you please tell me if this can be an issue with the way QoS is configured on these VRFs?
    xxxxxxx#sh int FastEthernet0/3/0 | inc drops
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 3665
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Mikey

    Hi Kishore,
Thanks for the clarification. Let me speak to the service provider and see if we can sort out the Output drops issue.
I had a few more queries.
    1) Will output drops also contribute to the latency here?
    2) The show int fa0/3/0.1221 output below only shows the load on the physical interface (fa0/3/0) and not of that particuar interface.Right?
    xxxxxx#sh int fa0/3/0.1221 | inc load
         reliability 255/255, txload 49/255, rxload 94/255
    xxxxx#sh int fa0/3/0 | inc load
         reliability 255/255, txload 49/255, rxload 94/255
I can try and enable IP accounting on that sub-interface (VRF) and see the load. Thoughts?
    3) As you said, if the 2M gets maxed out I would see latency as the shaper is getting fully utilized. But I don't see that on the interface load as mentioned above? I have pasted the ping response during the time load output was taken. I can;t read much into the policy map output, but does it talk anything about 2M being fully utilized and hence packets getting dropped.

  • Starting up iPhone 4s

I purchased an iPhone 4s for my son for Christmas.  It will replace a dumb phone.  I already paid for the upgrade to the service plan and the Verizon person told me I could delay activation until after Christmas day.  When I go in to switch phones, it wants me to pick a new plan.  I already have a new plan but can't figure out how to let the online startup know about it.  Any suggestions that would help keep me from having to go back to the store?  Thanks.

THANK YOU SO MUCH Gina7239. *228... I was given every instruction but that one to actually do the unthinkable and make/receive a #$@! call. Maybe it was in the startup booklet, but I didnt see it. Verizon - *228 should be emboldened on the packaging for non-tech savvy people like myself. What a headache. Shouldve left these new fangled phones to the young people. THANKS AGAIN GINA7239!

  • Windows Service Hosted workflow, Stop it with ServiceOperation call?

I am working on a POC for Scheduling Workflows. I have a workflow hosted with Workflow Services Host. Using a While activity I loop while KeepRunning = true. Using Pick-->PickBranch I have two ServiceOperations running in Receive activities in each
Branch.  There is a StartWorkflow ServiceOperation in one branch and a StopWorkflow ServiceOperation in another branch. The StartWorkflow operation basically just runs another Workflow called RunWorkflow with a calculated Delay activity between each
completion. It will loop indefinitely on that RunWorkflow activity until the KeepRunning is set to false. The StopWorkflow ServiceOperation is what changes the KeepRunning flag to false. My problem is that the StartWorkflow operation never completes so that
the Messaging directed to StopWorkflow can take place. I have used a CorrelationHandle to group the two ServiceOperations together set to a Guid property on the incoming DataContracts (requests). Is there someway to get the StartWorkflow operation to stop
    in this scenario?

    HI Les G. Kinney,
    Welcome to WorkFlow forum.
Workflow tracing offers a way to capture diagnostic information using .NET Framework trace listeners. Tracing can be enabled if a problem is detected with the application and then disabled again once the problem is resolved.
According to your description above, it's recommended to enable
workflow tracing first, it will give some hints why this happens.
Windows Workflow scheduling services manage how workflow instances are scheduled by the workflow runtime engine. This resource is also available. See:
