Delayed Magic Mouse response

I have been having on again off again issues with my magic mouse that is only a month old. Sometimes it will begin to stutter my movements making it extremely annoying to use since you have to correct and correct and correct. It will also while doing this randomly lose connection. My bluetooth keyboard stays paired just fine. I switched the batteries in the mouse for band new ones and it says they are 99% charged. I "air dusted" the laser to see if something was blocking it. I even went as far to clean wipe my computer to see if my third party magic mouse app was to blame(after this it worked fine for a few days and then once again began to act up.) I'm not really sure what else to do besides just contact apple, but i bought it at a best buy and am not sure if i can just go to an apple store in that instance. if anyone has any idea of somethings I can try i would greatly appreciate it! i searched the forums for a similar problem and did not see any so i hope this is not a repost.
Thanks A lot!!!

  • Mac Mini / Airplay delay /Magic mouse Range

I want to consult on something, I hope someone can answer my questions.
I need to know if next setup will work:
I have a two store house.
    Home - setup
second floor - TV with Mac Mini (newest with i5)
first floor - TV Full HD with Apple TV 1080p
My goal is to use a mac mini on both TV's and loose my macbook air.
I want to cover two questions:
Will Airplay from Mac Mini (using as computer) to my other TV work without delay (or acceptable delay)?
Will bluetooth Magic mouse & Apple wireless keyboard work on a distance of around 4 meters with a concrete floor in between?
    (I can't test it as I don't have a Mac Mini)
    Thanks!

Hi, Bluetooth has very limited range & likely ZERO through concrete.

  • Magic Mouse too responsive

The Magic Mouse is somewhat too response, i.e. it will activate a link, a check box, a menu item, etc. if the pointer hovers over these items, even if I don't click the left or right buttons. Is there a way to reduce the Mouse "sensitivity"?

Is your finger hovering just above the touch surface? If so, make a conscious effort to hold it a bit higher.
I occasionally suffer from this, and every time I notice my fingers almost touching the surface. Getting into the habit of holding them higher helps enormously...

  • I have a new Magic Mouse and it's pretty un responsive unless it's about 30cm away from the iMac. is this normal?

I go my new iMac last Friday and love it but the Magic Mouse is pretty unresponsive unless it's around 30cm from the iMac I have put new batteries in and no change. Is this normal?

    Thanks

  • Magic mouse and Macbook Pro Sleeping issues

Since I upgraded to Lion a few months ago, I've noticed that occasionally my Macbook Pro (early 2010) won't sleep when I close the lid. I think I've narrowed down (at least one of) the cause(s): if I turn off my bluetooth Magic Mouse after the lid is closed, the computer won't sleep. In fact, it will run hotter and hotter with the lid closed and, when I open the computer, it's non responsive, necessitating a hard reboot. I've checked the pmset log and I see the EHC2 (bluetooth mouse) waking the computer immediately after the clamshell sleep. Has anyone else seen this problem (I've seen similar things on the foroum, but not quite the same) and does anyone know what to do about it?

Repair disk permissions. Open this app:
    Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.app
Ensure your current volume is selected in the left hand column. Click 'First Aid' (if its not already selected), then 'Repair Disk Permissions' at the bottom.
Ignore the various warnings that come up in the 'Details' window, so long you get a message at the end saying 'Permissions repair complete'.

  • Magic mouse - certain items don't respond to click!

I've had no problem with my Magic Mouse ever - Model MB829/LLA
Am running Imac with OS 10.5.8.
Today I saw a Magic Mouse Software update listed in Software Updates and innocently
enough I chose to install it.
Upon restart the Mouse will click and select items, but there is no response to the
command invoked by that 'click'  - ON CERTAIN ITEMS.  Also it will click on and
allow drag and scroll down say, a pop up menu, but for example when i click on the
minimize or close button on a window, it may or may not respond -  The wired mouse
operates fine doing the same event.  The new "Mouse" preferences pane also gives
no option - at least that I can see- for choosing which "side" of the front end of the
mouse, if that makes any sense...-per screenshot.  THe wired old Gateway mouse
i'm using right now still works normally btw. Any help or idea of what i'm missing here?
Thus far, not an improvement.  Thanks!
    Mike

Just adding another weird anomaly going on with it.  If I simply click on the finder window it displays this(screenshot below) dialogue box.
Now if i select one of the items it will perform the action of opening a new window but...for example, i can't DRAG anything to/from the
new window it opened...  or click/select certain items in this dialogue box.  There's no response...well it's varying with different commands.
    Very very strange

  • What is the proper way to disconnect a magic mouse and reconnect a wired mouse with new Mac Pro?

I can disconnect the magic mouse pairing, but when I then connect the wired mouse, it malfunctions. I can open folders, etc., but then I can't close them by clicking on the close button.

Thanks for your response. Actually, this is the first thing I did. But I just tried it again, and still the mouse malfunctions.
I can open a folder, but when I press the close button in the corner, a toolbar customization menu comes up, but the window does not close.
I have already chatted online with an apple tech several times and taken my computer in to an apple store tech -  but no resolution to the problem. The online tech could see the problem with screen sharing, but couldn't fix it, and the tech at the apple store could not replicate the problem. In pursuit of an answer, I have also purchased a new wireless mouse (which works), a new wired mouse, and a new keyboard.
I have a late 2013 Mac Pro running 10.9.5, connected by HDMI to a 27" LG IPS display (27EA83R). I am now going to purchase a new HDMI cable and see if that helps. If it doesn't, the only thing left that hasn't been replaced or tested by a tech is the display. I have been assured by both an LG tech and an apple tech that the display is almost certainly not the problem -  but at this point I am not sure I have the greatest confidence in these guys.

  • Magic Trackpad won't work with Magic Mouse on brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac

I have a brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac which I bought with Snow Leopard pre-loaded. Naturally, I included the new Magic Trackpad in my purchase, and though there were some problems with the device in SL - such as it going haywire without explanation - it generally worked, although battery levels were erratic (one day 80%, then an hour later 42%, then 80% again).
When I installed Lion I did a clean install after backing up to Time Machine - and a Super Dupered external drive. I had some difficulties trying to install Lion from an external flash drive so I deleted again and reinstalled SL, then reinstalled over the SL install I did (with no other software except Mac OS X 10.6.8 and other system updates to facilitate install). Rather than copying apps from my old SL drive, I downloaded fresh copies and reinstalled one by one. I don't use a lot of apps apart from Microsoft Office, browsers and iLife and have not installed any additional scripts, extensions or add-ons (like USB Overdrive). It's a pretty clean install.
Since then, although I'm generally happy with Lion, the Magic Trackpad won't work! It does work for a little while with basic gestures - mainly moving the cursor and scrolling - then it gives up the ghost and loses connectivity. I have done the following:
Disconnected and reconnected the MTP after turning it on and off. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Shut the computer down, pulled out the plug, waited two minutes, then started up again. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Run Onyx, shut down computer, then pulled out plug (see above).
Checked options in Universal Access, shut off "Ignore other devices when trackpad in use" (or whatever the option is). MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Turned off the Magic Mouse. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
But none of this seems to work! I know the MTP is connected because I can see it in the BT menu in the menu bar and also in System Preferences. I have noticed since upgrading that my permissions - which when I bought the computer were totally clean - now run lines and lines about "Library/Core Services" so I am unsure whether this is related. I also notice a lot of people are in the same boat as me, which makes me wonder if it's either a hardware issue or a release issue - after a week or so of totally silent running, my 2TB Hitachi HDD started up with the grumbly tum. I'd really appreciate any tips from anyone out there!

    Hi, marksaner
You could try installing the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that makes the UltraNav driver and drivers for many other computer brands. This driver should have the same functionality as the UltraNav driver, so there's no worry there. You can find the driver here.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Has anyone figured out a way to scroll & swipe with magic mouse again after upgrading to Maverick? Thanks!

I finally upgraded to Maverick and now my magic mouse doesn't scroll or swipe on any application and to make things worse, my keyboard scrolling ability after pressing down on the arrows is a bit delayed. Does anyone know how to solve this? My magic mouse and keyboard are a month old, so, I know it's not the devices, but something with the update.
Things I've done from reading other forums:
    1.  Went to System Preferences/Mouse Settings [but it only gives me two settings: Tracking & Double-Click Speed]
    2. I've reset my PRAM a few timesnow.
    3. Tried restarting my computer a few times too, but nothing.
    4. I've tried searching for these files in my Library to DELETE, but they don't exist, so that method is not an option:
    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist
    com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.list
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
Also, my bluetooth capabilites are no longer available because of this update. :^/
    Thanks in advance!

or my actual question is -- is there anything inherantly wrong with this approach.. i mean, if i can get it to make it through consistently, is there a problem with it repeating / updating the variable so many times in a row? is it a drain on system resources or can it break anything etc.?
Although I'm far from being an expert in programming, I would answer NO. Imho, you've just got a brillant idea! (As for “repeating / updating the variable so many times in a row”… you could add a short delay (like “delay 1”) inside the repeat block, but I don't think it's a must.)

  • Premiere CC 2014 - Magic Mouse issues?

I know most professionals might prefer not using Apple's Magic Mouse for professional applications, but I happen to kind-of like the mouse.
However, since using the latest version of Premiere CC 2014, I've noticed some very erratic behavior with the Magic Mouse. Click-dragging to move clips on my timeline doesn't always work. Sensitivity is delayed in zooming in on the timeline. Scrolling lags. Etc. etc.
Anyone else have any issues using the Magic Mouse? All my other non-Adobe applications seem to be working fine with this mouse, though I have notice some similar sensitivity issues with the mouse in Illustrator and InDesign.
I'm hoping there will just be a bug fix or something, as I've been having to resort to using a wired mouse, which is a clunky fix.

EXACT SAME THING HERE  Can't find answer !!
drag and drop clip is ssssooooooooooooo frustrating !!
I have to use a usb mouse for premiere and magic mouse for e-mail and other stuff...
    unacceptable !
I discovered that what makes it not to work is simply the horizontal scroll of the "middle button". if you click, start draging a clip and your finger move of half of 1mm, then it just end the move there... same for rectangle selection !
    hate that !
I'm getting pain in the arm because I switch mouse all the time and they are obviously not the same speed and this change my work flow and lot of stuff ! This is a tiny problem causing huge problem !!

  • MAC OS X 10.6.3 issues with iTunes/Magic mouse

This is strange. Somehow I was able to upgrade Snow Leopard 10.6 to 10.6.3. How was that possible? I did this about a week or so ago. 10.6.3 is not available on Apple's download site today 2-7-2010. How did I get access to it?
A couple of weeks ago, I bought the Snow Leopard CD and installed it over my Tiger OS, without any problems. Then i bought a wireless keyboard and magic mouse which prompted me to upgrade Snow Leopard to 10.6.2., as well as upgrade the software to the wireless peripherals. Went to Apple's download page and somehow downloaded OS X 10.6.3. Hmmm? I also installed the latest security update at this time too. After all installs, at this point, I wasn't experiencing any issues with my laptop.
But then, I upgraded iTunes to 9.0.3. At this point I started experiencing problems after shutting down and then booting up the next day. iTunes began playing music slowly, music wasn't garbled, but the songs sounded out of tune (playing from my hard drive). Also, my wireless magic mouse got jumpy and exhibited delayed reaction. I ended up reinstalling OS X 10.6 (from the cd) over the existing OS (10.6.3), and now iTunes works just fine. The reinstall of OS X 10.6 from the cd did wipe out my software upgrades for the wireless peripherals and i have yet to upgrade them. i'm just glad iTunes is working well again.
My questions are: Was the problem with iTunes playing slowly an iTunes issue? Or was the root problem from the upgrade to OS X 10.6.3, and therefor an OS problem? Why was my mouse also displaying problems? And how was I able to get OS X 10.6.3 from Apple several days ago when they don't have that version available for download on the site today? Confusing.

My questions are: Was the problem with iTunes playing slowly an iTunes issue? Or was the root problem from the upgrade to OS X 10.6.3, and therefor an OS problem?
Even if a user has access to the beta, and knew of an issue they are working on, he/she would not be able to comment on it here. This forum is only for OS's that have been released and is covered by a Terms of Use agreement.
Sounds like you got an unintended update in some sort of fluke accident, and since you've removed it, there's no way of telling what caused the problem or if it was the OS or program or both.

  • Problem with magic mouse gestures in safari

    iMac 27", mid 2011
    16 GB 1333Mhz
Using OS X Yosemite, Safari, Magic Mouse
one day no problem at all, the next day, without any new installations:
Whenever I use the swipe gesture to go back to a previous page,
It does not work and I cannot scroll on this page anymore.
Shutting down Safari and restarting it works.
I read a lot about this, it seems to be a known problem.
I did not use terminal to use direct command for remedy, but tried everything else I read:
power own the mouse, taking battery out, switching off BT for Mouse, several restarts of the iMac etc.
    Nothing helps.
As I am so used to the gestures for a very long tome, it takes only seconds, before I swipe back-- and that´s it!
    I have to restart Safari.
I would be very thankful for your help!
    best,
    Fred

    Hi seventy one,
many thanks for your efforts to help me!!
but I just solved my problem doing the exact same as someone else did:
    I cite him here:
BidgeMar 10, 2015 7:05 PM Re: Magic Mouse Scrolling Issue
Re: Magic Mouse Scrolling Issuein response to Linc Davis
    Hi Linc
Thank you for the extremely detailed response.
I think I have the issue solved for the minute at least.
I not only disconnected every cable from the Mac, as I had previously done, I also disconnected every cable from my peripherals and powered down every peripheral as well, then re-wired my set-up. This seems to have solved the issue. Not sure of the technical reason that this would have fixed my problem, but it seems to have fixed the issue for the moment anyway.
So, my problem is solved too!!
    Many thanks

  • How to fix a Nonresponse Left-Click on a  Magic Mouse

First, this posting is not a problem but a solution to a problem with the OS X 10.6 System Preference/Mouse/Double-Click setting.
I have a new Magic Mouse and it was non responsive on normal every day left-clicks.
It got so bad I was having to go to the File menu and use the Open command to do
    just about anything.
I checked the Mouse settings and the Double-Click option setting was hard up against
the Fast peg on the right. I remembered a tip from long ago that using the max settings
was not good. I backed off two clicks on the Double-Click option setting and the new
Magic Mouse became responsive as expected. It is now working great!
I hope this tip or reminder to not use extreme Mouse settings will be useful to someone.

Tried to correct my typo in the Subject from to Non-responsive
