Delayed Push on 4S?

Hello,
I am quiet lucky as I have both "the new iPad" and the iPhone 4s. They work both almost flawless together, just one thing...
When I receive for example an iMessage, I now receive them on both devices. Very nice and useful off course. The iPad seems to get them always immediately, while on my iPhone, sometimes get them a few minutes later, or when I open my device. It can be quiet annoying while having a conversation on my iPhone off course. Can I programm it in that way that I always receive push's on both devices?
It differs per moment as well, as sometimes they receive it immediately. As soon as reading it on one, it dissappears on the other, but sometimes, that is delayed as well.
It seems like that sometimes the iPhone is "not connected" to Wi-Fi. Is this a battery saving method, and can I switch this on and off somewhere? I would like to receive the notifications immediately on both devices. This is not only for iMessage, but also whatsapp or facebook can be laggy on the iPhone.
Thanks.

When the iPhone goes into standby the WiFi radio is shut down in favor of cellular data. WiFi would take far to much battery power to maintain the idle connection. 3G is far more power efficient in standby.

  • Iphone 4 ios7 delayed push

I have searched and searched unsuccessfully to locate a solution for this issue. I have several email addresses and all of them are delayed by up to a couple of hours sometimes getting to my iphone. I have tried everything from resetting to deleting and reinstalling, but nothing works. I did a test with an ipad running ios6 and it was pushing the emails right away while they were delayed 45 minutes on my iphone.
If anyone has any solution, i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

  • Delayed push notification

I'm having a problem with both iPhone 4 and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1. As in title, my push notification is delayed by 5-15 min in both devices in both 3G and wifi. Almost all apps including iMessage and mail notifications are delayed. Even FaceTime sometimes don't work although my friends says it is ringing. I tried hard and soft rebooting but still didn't work. I don't have the time to restore my devices with its huge amounts of apps and I'm not sure if it will work.
My friends are having the same problem. Is it from the device? Firmware? Or from my Internet provider? Please help..

No, I made sure it is from both wifi and 3G. The mail is the only app that sometimes works fine, but I message is delayed by like 5-10 mins. Umm I didn't say FaceTime is delayed, I said it is not working like there is no Internet connection eventhough it is on wifi.

  • Firmware 1.1.3 fixes Yahoo! delayed push and dissapearing sent emails!!!

Wow! It's finally happened and I hardly believe it. Since 1.1.3 I can 100% confirm that Yahoo! push has been working perfectly with messages arriving insanely fast, faster than ever before. But, even better than that, the annoying bug of having emails make the noise/icon that they were sent but just dissapear is ALSO FIXED!!! Since I put 1.1.3 I've sent over 100 emails on my iPhone using both WiFi/EDGE and every single one has gone through perfectly.
Thank god this is fixed and I can finally start using the email on my iPhone as I originally intended too. Hallelujah!!!

I seem to be getting the opposite results. Before 1.1.3 my Yahoo was working pretty reliably and the messages were getting pushed. Ever since the upgrade to 1.1.3, however, I have not been getting my messages pushed to me consistently. I tried deleting and re-adding the Yahoo account and, at first, it worked but now I'm back to not getting them again.

  • IM+ Push Terrible or Non Existent

I BOUGHT IM+ for the reason that I have switched from blackberry and am used to talking through BB messenger. As I say I BOUGHT this app because it says it has PUSH and it either takes 20-30 mins to come through (sometimes quicker) or it doesnt come through at all, I have to open IM+ for the messages to arrive. (All settings are correct for it to work)
Anyone know why Push doesnt work right when it should?

Unfortunately, these problems are pretty common with all 3rd party IM apps.
Probably it's BeejiveIM that most people consider the most dependable in this respect. Nevertheless, some people too state they had problems (delayed Push notifications etc.) with it too.
It seems we'll wait until all main players (IM networks) integrate with Apple's Mobile me so that Push messages will indeed be reliable. Until them, you can't expect much.

  • Lacie won't unmount

    Greetings Gurus,
I took part of my system home to do some work over the holidays and am now having trouble unmounting my Lacie BigDiskExtremeTriple. This drive has always been connected to my Dual G5 desktop (profile listed below), but I'd hoped to get some work done on the MBPro 17.
Here's what info I have so far:
I believe the problem started from having several external FW drives looped through a Belkin FW hub (sorry, no specs on it right now other than 3 FW 6pin ports on each side of the hub) - computer froze and I had to reboot.
I believe this caused some possible directory damage to the Lacie since I had been unable to 'unmount' the drive properly.
Support and Google searches have offered several things to try, but none have resolved the issue yet. Most suggest a 'directory issue with the drive' that Disk Warrior may fix. I have DW3.0, but also read that it's not going to work if the drive won't unmount in Disk Utility (which it wont')
Here is what I've tried so far.
any usage of Finder/Spotlight locks up the system.
Drive seems to work, though I've delayed pushing it with apps (mostly FCStudio), until I can resolve the issue.
Force Quit Finder - have been able to then unmount the drive once or twice, but usually not.
Restart Mac - can usually then unmount the drive, but not always
Check Activity monitor - this shows a Process ID/Name 'mds' at Root level running 99% (any ideas there?)
Run Terminal commmand 'sudo lsof | grep "The-Volume-Name"
    - This gives me 4 items (one at Finder and 3 at mds) - Here is what it listed...
    Finder 98 kevandholdsworth 19r VDIR 14,11 68 10944 /Volumes/MEDIA/.Trashes/501
    mds 186 root 22u VREG 14,11 1069056 4392 /Volumes/MEDIA/.Spotlight-V100/store.db
    mds 186 root 23u VREG 14,11 1069056 4393 /Volumes/MEDIA/.Spotlight-V100/.store.db
    mds 186 root 24u VREG 14,11 0 4395 /Volumes/MEDIA/.Spotlight-V100/.journalHistoryLog
Is it possible to just locate these files and delete them? or will DW need to do it's own thing?
I'm ready to try Disk Warrior, but would appreciate any feedback regarding the issue before I attempt it.
(sadly, I broke the cardinal rule of not double posting [initially in the 'Finder, Dock & Dashboard Forum], but feel much more confident of getting strong advice here...my apolgies to any I've upset by doing so)
    Thanks,
    Kevan
PS - just checked my profile and it does not yet list the MBP...It's a 17" w/2GB Ram, same OS and Software as on the G5

It's not backed up yet...I'll do that before running DiskWarrior
I'm not convinced what the issue is. I now am unable to unmount any external HDs (all FW) from my G5.
Jim, Disk Utility is not giving me the option to 'disable journaling'.
Spotlight prefs won't let me add(+) either volume to 'privacy'...that's my understanding on how to remove it from being indexed. However, when I tried 'dragging' one of the volumes into the 'privacy' area, it went 'Poof'...now showing up on desktop, but no longer in finder...is this what you are referring to?
Kenneth, I'm the only user/admin...not seeing an issue there. Maybe I'm missing something from your suggestion. I simply boot up as I always do.
    UPDATE...
FYI, here is the original prompt I get when trying to unmount any external hard drives: "The disk "DISK NAME" is in use and could not be ejected. Try quitting applications and try again"
There are no visible applications open...I notice now after dragging a volume to spotlight privacy that one of the text lines from the Terminal sudo command no longer shows up.
I have been able to unmount all drives after starting up from a backup drive (Panther). However, restarting from Tiger does not allow this. I'm also a bit concerned about doing restarts without properly unmounting any of these drives.
Here are a couple of links I've been trying to apply, but it's looking like a backup and DiskWarrior are next steps. A show deadline is preventing me from doing so at this time.

  • What is the point of having a smartphone if nothing ever works?

Before my GS3 updated to kitkat my apps would crash all the time. My phone updated last week and now the apps work but in what used to be areas with strong steady 4g coverage I have no data. So annoyed. I can turn my data on and without touching it I'll have 4g for a minute and then none before coming back for 5 seconds only to go out again. What am I paying for?  My office doesn't have wifi and I have a large data allowance but what is the point if I can never use it?  I do a lot of travelling and use my phone as a GPS but as I have no no longer have reliable service anywhere even in Philadelphia where it was a constant 4g.  Not to mention the GPS is unreliable as well. Waze is an amazing GPS but to have a phone that doesn't work half the time is frustrating. I should just go back to my old flip phone that lasted me 2 days on a single charge. My phone is due for an upgrade in a few months. Maybe I'll save some money and get something that isn't a smartphone and I won't have to worry about paying for the data and everything else that comes with having a smartphone.

I can understand that Verizon did not make the phone.  My satellite provider did not make the dish nor the receiver I use either, but if they malfunction and make it to where I cannot receive their service (the satellite signal) then the satellite provider assists in getting equipment that works.  If it is a software issue, they have more sway with the provider of said software, as the representative and mass user of the software, than individual customers do.  So if Verizon is receiving multiple complaints from their customers, complaints that their customers are unable to use the service that they are being paid to provide, then they can go to manufacturer to request the fix.  Who do you think Google or Samsung is going to listen to more, an individual who received a phone from a 3rd party (Verizon) or the entire company who purchases those items (phones and software) en-masse and thus can more affect their bottom line?  As another example... when you purchase a car and the seatbelt malfunctions, do you go to the seatbelt manufacturer or back to the car maker?  Should each person who has a seatbelt malfunction go to the seatbelt maker or should the car maker issue a recall on all affected vehicles and offer a fix, provided from the seatbelt maker?  When I go back to Samsung or Google, and IF they listen to me and initiate a fix, what priority is Verizon going to make it to get it out to their customers?  Or is Verizon relying upon each disgruntled user to go find their own fix without it affecting them (Verizon) at all?  Other service providers have already started issuing fixes according to my research... and if Verizon delayed pushing this update out for so long (as I've seen complaints that it was), why did they push it with these known issues and not insist before they pushed it out that Google or Samsung fix it first so as not to get these complaints?  Sorry, but Verizon is at least partially responsible for my inability to use their service, as the provider of the equipment and software that I need to be able to utilize their services.  I didn't go out on the black market and purchase this phone, I bought it at a Verizon store.  I have not rooted the phone or in any way done anything other than add about 6 apps to the phone from the way it was provided to me by the store, and their required update - pushed across their cellular and data service - is what has resulted in my phone no longer being functioning.  So yes, while Verizon may not manufacture the phone or the software, they are in fact the provider of said items to me and thus are responsible, and should be pushing back to Google or Samsung to get a fix for their customers.  I was hoping to hear that Verizon was doing just that, but it does not appear to be the case.... Yes, other providers may be having the same issue, but I've seen them working with their customers to get a solution, providing CUSTOMER SERVICE to their customers, and that is all that I and others like me, have been looking for from Verizon in this kitkat fiasco and which they have been failing at.

  • Delayed AOL Email Push to Blackberry Storm

Anyone else having this problem??  When I first starting using my storm, my aol Email was pushed instantly to my storm, even before it hit my desktop inbox.  For the past week, there has been a delay of sometimes up to 45 minutes.  Spoke to tech support and they still can't figure it out...said it might be AOL.  I wasn't sure if there is a way to either forward aol messages directly to my blackberry address or if that would be a waste of time.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While I don't use AOL, there are indeed many systems in the path of reconciliation. But, BIS diligently checks the email servers to which it is configured on a regular basis. If there is no new email at that time, it has nothing to forward. The only way you can double-check is to be logged into AOL from a desktop computer at the same time. If you see it in your AOL interface, then AOL is not placing it onto whatever server it is that they use to enable it for POP or IMAP. The real way to test is to also have a desktop email client pulling email from AOL in exactly the same manner as BIS is doing. Now, with all three running simultaneously, you could check where the mail arrives first and where last. So, for instance, if it arrives in your AOL client right away but is delayed to the other 2, then you know it's AOL delaying getting it out to their POP/IMAP service.
Basically, I do agree that it is likely an AOL delay issue rather than anything in BIS...unless many others come back with similar reports and from many POP/IMAP services.
    Hope that helps!

  • Mail push to Mac sometimes delayed

    Hello,
I run my own mail server on a Mac mini with OS X Server running and I have noticed that push messages to my personal Mac (connected by ethernet) varies in speed. What I mean ist that my iPhone pings with the notification sometimes 60-90 seconds before my Mac shows me the mail. Even if Mail is the active app there is no new message in my inbox even though my iPhone already knows about it.
At other points in time during the day they both "ping" simultaneously. I have checked Mail's activity window and it is empty during the times when there is a large delay. The delays occur without any changes to the server or the client machine - I have also noticed that sometimes one mail comes in with a delay, the next mail (5 min. later) comes without a delay and then the next one has a delay again. I have not been able to find regularities (i.e. HTML mails vs only-text mails). Sometimes the difference in push-delays even happens from the same sender.
Does anyone have an idea what the cause could be?
I am running the latest versions Yosemite and of OS X Server. The OS X Server only has 5 users, so it should have load issues and is using valid APNS certificates.
    Thanks
PS: I have also deleted and re-setup my mail account on my personal mac without any success. I also have tried setting it up with and with-out using the provisioning profiles - no difference.

    go to
    settings/email+accounts/your outlook account
check what it is set to in "Download new content"
if you want it to have "push" then set it to "as items arrive"

  • Outlook 2010 Push delayed!?

    Hello,
I got everything set up, my push is working great on my devices, ipad and iphone, but in outlook it's at best delayed. About 1-2 minutes if I have to guess...
Is there some setting I am missing?
    Thanks

    Hi Viscor,
How long the emails delayed in Outlook?
Please check the message header to verify whether there is anything abnormal.
How about other Outlook clients? If only one end user has this delay issue, please try to run Outlook under safe mode.

Sign up for Google's paid Apps for Business service, you can then set things up using Exchange & you'll get push using Gmail. Otherwise, you can't get push using Gmail.

  • IPhone 4 push notification delay

    Hi guys,
I have a problem with iPhone push notifications for the last two weeks. I use the same wifi network at home and in the office and the same devices (MacBook Pro with retina display, iPad 3rd gen and iPhone 4). While the iPad and MacBook Pro receive iMessages, Emails, Twitter and Facebook notifications and all the other notifications at the same time, the iPhone receives it 5–10 mins later or even more.
I have push turned on. I have tried to restore the iPhone and restored data from the backup (because I need data on it). I don't know what is the reason and why it started happening. I haven't install new apps this time or changed settings etc.
Any ideas? iPad and iPhone has the same iOS 5.1.1. Mac has the latest Mountain Lion 10.8.1 as well.
I saw people saying it's the problem of iOS 5.1.1, but iPad works fine in my case, so the problem might me different.

Okay, if you set up Gmail and Yahoo mail in the Exchange fashion, then push should work. However, there have been a number of posts on this and other forums about the failings of Yahoo push for some time now. I would believe this could be your issue with that. As far as Gmail, if you have push set up correctly in all the areas for that and it is set up for the Exchange version, it should work. I do not use either of these mail providers, so I cannot make comments based on personal experience. As far as Facebook is concerned, I would suggest turning off the notification and then turning it back on again. I use Facebook but not push notifications as it is not that important to me, however there is a section in Settings, Facebook and that sets push notifications.
If none of this corrects your Facebook issue, I suggest a restore. When connected to iTunes, you can click on Restore. Make sure you do a backup of the iPhone, you sync your contact and calendar data to the supported application on the computer and import photos from the camera roll. Try a restore from a backup first, and if that doesn't work, then a restore as a new device. Then sync information back to the iPhone from iTunes.

  • Delays in Reds on DVD, artifacting on Pans & Push ins.

This may be a combined Compressor and DVD Studio Pro issue. I am experiencing delays in video, just in the bright reds of the short I am exporting to DVD. I am working in uncompressed 10 bit in FCP, and am using compressor at the 60 min high quality setting to create MPEG2 and aiff files. At first I thought it might be a sort of color correction issue, but I've checked the sequence and everything is broadcast safe. I've had this same type of issue before, where the quality of the video starts to go in and out of focus when the video has to deal with a very busy complicated pan, or truck in shot (in this case, sometimes artifacting occurs.) I thought that it may be a compression issue. But this is the first time I've had problems with just a certain color being delayed. I have tried thing like placing compression markers in these areas, but after exporting, the video always looks worse.
Any thoughts in this area? I've resorted to compressing just portions of the video separately and stitching it together in DVD Studio Pro. This is a time consuming and lengthy process, and it does help sometimes, but not all the time. Does anyone have a better solution to this problem?
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

First off, thanks to everyone for all your great suggestions.
Agreed that the material was compressed to begin with. (Begin rant)...I'm amazed that so many people have a finished DVD they've spent hundreds on, yet apparently have no access to source material or even assets. No matter how I try to explain why the finished product won't look as good as what they gave me, the response is "it's DVD--DVD always looks great. Why can't you make it look great?" (end of rant, thanks...)
I'm on a PPC running Final Cut Studio 1 (so ProRes is unavailable to me). I took the footage to another system (Intel dual-core running FCS 3), used ProResLT, and to tell you the truth, I didn't see any noticeable difference--fade ups/downs are jerky, jagged lines between light & dark areas, etc. I'm also playing them back on both Sony and JVC broadcast monitors. I did some research on past threads, and downloaded and used JES Deinterlacer--no change. Even untrained eyes notice the problems.
I guess I was looking for someone who had had the same issue, and had a silver bullet to share with me. I've been on this for two days now, and my options are drying up. If I do succeed, somehow, I'll report back on what I did.
    Thanks again.

  • Content Exchange -  PUSH - Delay

    Hi,
EP6SP14. I configured a Syndictor and Subscriber on separate portal and configured the PUSH of content at 2 minutes interval.
    1. When I put a document on the source, it take a long time to get pushed to target portal but I need it in 2 min. Am I missing some configuration?
    2. During copy, even the initial directory path is also copied e.g. if the content is in /documents/News/Corp News...I want only /Corp News but the system copies /documents/News/Corp News too. Can I avoid this?
    Rgds

    Hi,
    1) the minimum interval possible is 5 minutes (unfortunately the UI doesn't show this )
    2) What you can do is the following:
Setup the offer component on the ICE Syndicator
    - content path = "/documents/News/Corp News"
    - target path = "News"
Configure the subscription on the ICE Subscriber
    - target path = "/Corp News"
    It will create a folder "/Corp News/News/..."
But you cannot avoid the text "News" (or whatever text you typed in target path). If you don't type anything into target path, it will always default to the same value like the content path.
    Kind regards,
    Ralf
