Delayed write failure with iPad - please help
Hi, I have an iPad (original) that I picked up used recently. After a week or so of use, I'm now getting a "Delayed Write Failure" whenever I connect it to my PC. Here are the details:
1) I am not synching music, only email, apps and photos.
2) when I connect my iPad, I get a delayed write failure on F:\$Mft. (F is one of two external USB drives I use). Once this error happens my "F:" drive is no longer usable. The drive itself still shows up in Windows Explorer but it will not show the folder structure,
3) I need to shut down my computer, unplug my "F" drive, let it sit for a few minutes, then Re-boot my PC and re-attach my F: drive to get it operational again.
4) After this happened the first time, and I was able to figure out how to get my F drive back to normal, I ran it for two days connected to a different USB port using a different USB cable and it worked fine. Then I used the old USB cable but the different USB port for another 2 days and no problem. I then went back to the original USB cable and original USB port for 2 days and still no problem. If I run iTunes with out the iPad connected there is not problem. Only when I connect the iPad does this problem occur, even before I ask iTunes to do anything like synch.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

sorry to tell you but you've done exactly the wrong thing trying to fix the problem. It's extremely unlikely that your problems were caused by a fault in the application itself. They were almost certainly caused by a bad preference file (may be more than one) in your home directory or an application conflict with something else like a bad plugin. Normally, it's easy to reinstall safari from the leopard install DVD. open the DVD in finder, go to optional installs and double-click on Optional Installs.mpkg. Follow the instructions and on the screen with the choice of software to install choose safari. after you are done you'll need to rerun the 10.5.3 combo update and possibly safari 3 update to bring safari up to the current version. This might fix it. However, because you used AppDelete it might not fix it as it may have deleted various necessary system files when you deleted safari.

- Try on another computer/network

If you are the original owner of the phone and know the Apple ID and password that were used to activate it originally, and if you have an existing backup to restore from, you can force it into recovery mode (which will completely erase it) and restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. When you do you will encounter activation lock, and will have to provide the ID and password used to activate it originally in order to activate it again. If you can't, you won't be able to activate and use it.

Delayed Write Failure - WinXP Pro
Mega865 with WinXP Pro & ATI 9800 Pro installed. Experienced delayed write failure to hard drive errors after installing ATI's 9800 Pro & Catalyst software. After much work, determined the problem to be the ATI drivers. This problem has been reported on other boards with various computers. Recommend you not install 9800 Pro which requires the ATI driver.
Cheers for the replys and tips. From searching around earlier in the week i gathered it was a common issue with various hardware combinations and no single solution. I regedited something or other as per microsoft website which had no effect (something to do with paging).
Yesterday i reformatted from dynamic to basic with 3 primary partitions. This had no effect on the problem.
The caddy (which is a sumvision)/maxtor combination seems happy to chuck files from the internal drive to the usb drive and back, but as soon as the external drive has to read and write at the same time, such as defrag or copy and paste, it throws a fit, activity light goes out and delayed write errors pop up.
Today the drive is back inside on the SATA bus and is merrily chucking files to and fro likes theres no tomorrow.
My current assumption is that it may be the caddy or something to do with the nforce chipset/drivers. -

Now for the intersting bit: TenFourFox, like Firefox, does not support most plug-ins. Unless you are prone to headaches (in which case don't) you can read about that here:

But there is a workaround!
Open TenFourFox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
Look/search (scroll down) for: tenfourfox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close TenFourFox, open it again, and Flash will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.
With SilverLight, Microsoft attempted to create their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be - but not to universal acclaim. You can read more about it here:

Hello I am using Ipad 4 and its charger is not working while I was using it few days before and it was working properly now it says that the cable does not support this Ipad Please Help me out.
Try a reset:
- Hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time. When the Apple logo appears release both buttons then try and charge again.
If issue persists try:
- Another known working cable
- Check the charging port for any damage or debris
- You could also use a dry soft bristle toothbrush and gently brush it on the port to clean it of any debris that could be in there -
