Delays in Opening Acrobat X, and delays in printing pdf Docs

What do you need to do to speed up the opening of the program, and speed up the printing of pdf docs?

Michael,
Thanks for the return note.
The biggest issue (length of time) is just opening the Adobe program…last timed at 27 seconds.  The problem started when I purchased the X edition.  I have also recently upgraded to Windows 7.  Never had the problem before.  Not sure what you mean by problem with fonts…I’m rather “challenged”.

Dan

  • FF will no longer ask me before trying to open Acrobat files, and will not ask me to save them either. How can I restore the ability to see pdf's with FF?

I have Acrobat 6.0 Professional installed on my PC (Vista-64) and after the last FF update, it will no longer open or allow me to view pdfs. "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again."
Under "Options" I set my preference with pdfs to "Always Ask" but the documentation on FF states that it will attempt to open the file first, before asking me to save it, which basically means that it will never ask me to save it - just ask me to exit the browser and Acrobat. I have not been able to access PDF content on FF since, and will have to change to Chrome this evening, since I utilize pdf content often.

  • Acrobat Distiller 9 Error - Cannot Print PDF

When I try to print PDFs from any browser or piece of software, try to open Distiller directly, or even scan to PDFs, I receive the following error:
Unable to create the temporary folder.
Error: 5 - Access is denied.
I have had no problems until Monday with this.  I did not install any new software.  I have done the following:
Scanned the computer for Malware (Malwarebytes) - 0 threats found
Scanned the computer for regular virus/registry issues (AVG 2013) - 0 threats found
Repaired Acrobat 9 PRO installation - no change
Rebooted multiple times - no change
My computer runs Windows 7 64-bit, and I have Adobe Web Premium CS5 (which comes with Acrobat 9 PRO).  I currently do not have access to the installation discs, as I just moved.

jlk2011 thanks, I found your thread, and it worked!  I'm sharing what I did here and then closing the thread.
By holding the Windows key and R down, I typed %TEMP% into the Run field and hit Enter.
I found a temp folder name Acrobat Distiller 9.  I deleted the folder.  I then created a new folder with the same name, and I was immediately able to print PDFs again.  The issue was resolved.

  • Splitting and glueing back together pdf docs

    Hi,
I wish to cut and then repaste back together a pdf doc? How do I do it?

You can simply delete  and reorder pages in Acrobat. Anything beyond that is not something one would do with a PDF. It's by no means an editable format and from text formating changing to images getting rasterized during copy&paste operations there could be a million things that mess up your documents to a point they become unusable. Any such operations would be done on the original source files in teh programs that created the PDF, whichever those may be.

  • Problems opening Acrobat Reader 11 to edit a PDF

When logging into Adobe 11, I get an error message that says trouble signing in, yet my name is displayed in the top right corner.  I have logged out and signed back in but Adobe 11 is not working.  In addition, when I try to open a file with Reader, it never loads.  Any pointers on how to proceed?

Nobody can help you without system information or other specifics like what PDF you are trying to open/ view.

  • Acrobat 8.1.2 cant print pdf no error

My husband has an emachine desktop with HP Deskjet D4160, 512 RAM and Adobe reader 8.1.2 ... I have a Sony Vio desktop, 1.5 gig RAM, a second printer same model, and the Adobe reader 8.1.2. The 2 computers are not networked. Both of us are using windows XP operating system. We both have the same problem since we installed Adobe Reader 8.1.2, we are unable to print any pdf file. We do not get any error messages.
After we select print, you can hear the printer click a couple times as though it was getting ready to print, then nothing. There is no printer icon in the tool bar showing that the printer has anything pending. If you open up the printer it also shows Printer is ready with no pending documents. Again, it does not show any errors or warnings.
I have searched the forum and knowledgebase, found some suggestions where people had an error message to report. I tried what was suggested there including changing going into "Comments and Forms" ... Document and Markup, then changing that to just Document. Didn't change anything.
This is getting pretty frustrating have both computers with the same problem and have PDF documents that need to be printed. I sure would appreciate some ideas on how to correct the problem. OH .. I also checked for updates from Adobe and we are current, both computers have Service Pack 2 and are current with updates. Windows XP is also updated several times a week with any current patches or updates.

You may need to check the Reader forum. I have no idea why the problem exists, but it may be that it is something particular to Reader and not Acrobat. The link for the Reader forum is at the top of this forum.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 standard - crash when print pdf with watermark

it is the EXACT same issue as this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402928&sliceId=1
the problem is, the steps indicated here to fix the problem in solution 1, do not apply to STANDARD, even though it says it does.
    Solution 3 works just fine.
The problem is this, I do not want my watermarks at 100% opacity. Every solution I have found says "Select PDF Optimizer from the Advanced menu.
I do not see that menu/option anywhere in acrobat 8 standard. I need a fix for this issue, and printing a watermark at %100 opacity or getting a new printer isn't a solution.
Apparently if I could just run the pdf optimizer i could fix this issue, but its nowhere to be found.
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance

I believe the PDF optimizer is only in Professional. I don't have 8 on
my machine now. There may have been something under the file menu that
did some optimization called Reduce File size, but I don't know if it
will fix your problem or what version numbers had the option.

  • Safari is not displaying parts of web pages and will not print pdfs

I am using a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.3 and Safari 6.0.3.  Web pages are sometimes missing elements.  Pdfs often do not display correctly and when I try to print them there is nothing there.  This started to happen before upgrading to 10.8.3.  Any ideas on how to solve the problem?  I do not have this problem when using Firefox.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro will not print .pdf on HP printer

Help!  I have not been able to print a .pdf file from my HP Officejet J6480. Each time I sent the file to the printer it acts as if its going to print and then I get a paper jam error but there isn't a paper jam. I am using an HP TouchSmart 610 with Windows 7.

Several things to consider. You might try to print as an image. There have long been problems with the HP printer drivers also, so you might try to be sure you have the latest. One characteristic of a lot of HP printers is that the page size must match the paper in the printer, or the printer waits for you to fix the paper issue. So be sure the paper size stated in the printer is the same as your PDF, or at least the paper selection made in the printer menu.

  • Pressing F1 For Help Opens Old CS6 Placeholder PDF Doc

I don't have any CS6 applications installed anymore, but now only PS CC 2014 and Bridge CC. When I press F1 or select help from the menu, it opens acrobat reader and the old CS6 placeholder doc that does not contain any help info. How can this be corrected?

This can possibly be corrected, but I don't know how (preferences file?). I don't use the cloud, but I think it is even more connected to the internet than any other suite before, so this might just be a matter of setup. Is Adobe Help a part of CC?
Was is probably not installed or incorrectly? Perhaps in Adobe Help you can manage to open online help or local docs, which both should work in case you don't have an internet connection. I'd always prefer local docs.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3 and HP C410a printer scanning problems

I have an HP Photosmart Premium C410a printer.
    I am running Windows 7 (64-bit).
When I try to scan a multi-page document (more than 3 pages) from Acrobat 9.4.3 to Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3, the document feeds through the ADF and seems to be scanning fine, but the document never shows up in Acrobat.  The adobe window is frozen at this point and I have to close it with the Task Manager.  When I open Acrobat again and try to scan ANY document, I get a message saying that "another program already has control of the device" (even though I have closed the HP Solutions Center by now).  At this point, I have to restart the computer.
I have spent many hours on the phone with both Adobe and HP techs, and have been working on this problem for a month already.  Adobe tells me that their software is working fine and the problem is with the HP drivers or software.  HP tells me that their drivers and software are working fine and the problem is with the Adobe Acrobat software.  At this point, I am ready to junk the HP printer and buy another Canon, since I never had any problems scanning multi-page documents (20 or more) from Adobe Acrobat with my old Canon.
Does anyone know a fix for this issue, or can tell me exactly what the problem is?  The techs are of no help.

I checked out the discussions you suggested.  I am pretty sure that my problem has something to do with the TWAIN driver.  Is it true that Adobe does not support TWAIN in 64bit.  If so, what are my options?
I can scan from Adobe Acrobat 9.4.3 using the WIA driver, but I have to scan from the glass.  Since I have a need to scan many multi-page documents (10-20 pages), this is extremely time consuming.
    Thanks for your help.
