Delays when replying or forwarding an e-mail

I just recently bought a MacBook Pro and have been using Mail.app. Whenever I attempt to reply or forward an e-mail, I get the color pinwheel for as much as 30 seconds before Mail displays a new screen for entering the address of the recipient. I used Mail.app a long time ago and don't remember this every occurring then. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations (Parallels in particular, if you have that installed) and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.

  • Can't reply or forward gmail in Mail 6.0 (only write!)

After having done some SMTP-server editing on my MacBook Pro I have problems with Mail 6.0 using Mountain Lion.
I've 4 accounts connected to the application of which 2 are gmail accounts with IMAP.
The problem is that after the editing I can't reply or forward any mails using the gmail accounts, only write new messages with them!
I've tried a few things. Clean OS install, Time Machine restore and different account settings from the web.
None of them seems to work. As of now I either have to send through my web browser, iCloud or an Exchange account.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also having email issues.  I used to be able to recieve and send mail through our outlook server.  Now I receive messaes, but cannot send.  It immediately reports it got an error trying to send and the message is stuck in my Outbox.  I tried dropping the user account and recreating it.  Interestingly, when I filled out all the login data, it said it could not verity my outgoing mail settings.  I did have an error.  I fixed it, and when I saved, it saved fine.  However, I still cannot send emails.  I got this phone to use for work, and this is killing me.

  • T'bird 31 hangs when replying to a multiple thread mail

I updated to version 31 today. Ever since, when replying to emails that have several threads (2, 3 or more responses attached) the send button hangs up. If I wait long enough, or fiddle, it may go to draft. Why? What can I do to get these sort of threaded replies to send like an original bare basic mail?

  • Since installing Mountain Lion my Safari will not access my contacts list when wanting to forward an e-mail or send a new one. Why?

Since installing Mountain Lion I am unable to access my contacts list in Safari to forward an e-mail or send a new one. The Insert contacts link above the address box is not active and will not access the Contacts List. How can I fix this?

Can you open Contacts and edit, insert, and delete cards, or does it fail to work, also?

  • IPhone4 when replying or forwarding mail messages i get a message that says Cannot Send Mail address rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying

When forwarding mail this is what i get
    Cannot Send Mail
A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipent _________________(email address) was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.
Never had this problem before so not sure whats going on. Appreciate any help out there.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your SMTP server. Try going into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>select the email account in question, go to the Outgoing server (SMTP) and check the settings. It may be you do not have a username and password in one of the areas. The phone may say optional in a couple, but it is usually mandatory. You can also try a reset on the device, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. If neither of these work, then you will need to delete the account, then delete the SMTP server, then add the account back, ensuring you use your username and password everywhere, even when it says optional.

  • Long delay when replying with a fault from a mediator

    Using version 11.1.1.3.0 --
I have a very simple Mediator, which executes in about 50ms as expected in non-fault cases, but when returning a fault, it consistently takes approx 6 seconds.
The Flow Trace shows the Mediator completing 6 seconds after the BPEL component completes, but the Mediator completes in 53ms in the Audit Trail. So where are the extra 6 seconds going?

    Hi,
Please take your time to collect some information for troubleshooting:
Does this issue occurred on all outlook clients?
Please try to disable any anti-virus software to check this issue.
Are there any 3rd part mail scanning software?
    Thanks,
    Best Regards.

  • Outlook crashes when replying to email sent from Mail

Two of my staff are reporting that when they send email to people using Outlook, the recipient's outlook crashes when they try to reply.
Has anyone experienced this? i've checked smtp servers, corrupt fonts etc.
it seems to happen inconsistantly (i use outlook myself and have no problems).

Frank thanks for bringing this post back up. I thought for sure it would go unnoticed. It seems to me that there is currently nothing the Geniuses can do about it - and because they claim it's an Android issue I doubt this will be addressed in the next iOS. Unless Android sends an update to their users fixing the problem - if it is an Android problem after all - then it looks like we are left to finding a solution on our own. Like I said previously, the only workaround I found is by "forwarding" the email and then manually entering the sender's address.

  • How do I select a sender when replying/forwarding email on z10?

    Current setup:
I have a Gmail and two other accounts. All mail from two other accounts is forwarded to Gmail.
I set up all three accounts on Z10.
When composing a new email, I can select any of the three accounts as a sender.
When replying to / forwarding a message, the sender is always set as Gmail, regardless of which address the message was sent to.
    Question:
Is there any way to select a sender for reply/forwarded message on Z10 from the list of email accounts?
Please do not offer to switch off forwarding; I am not going to check three emails on other computers I use to work with emails.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Currently, you can't change the sender when replying or forwarding. It will use whatever account the mail came from on the device.

  • Using Firefox 4.0.1, I am unable to "Compose", "Reply" or "Forward" messages in Yahoo Mail. I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer.

Clicking on "Compose", "Reply" or "Forward" in Yahoo Mail does not do anything. I troubleshot the problem with Yahoo directly and they feel that the issue is with Mozilla Firefox. I do not have this issue when using Internet Explorer. Other buttons in Yahoo Mail, such as "Delete" and "Move" do work.

I had the same problem and discovered it went away when I disabled the AVG Do Not Track extension on firefox.

  • An Extra Space at Top When Replying in Mail?

When replying to a message in Mail the blinking cursor is literally right above the "On Jun 2, 2006, at 12:58 PM, Wesley wrote:", is it possible to set in the preferences or somewhere so that the blinking cursor is two spaces above the "On" date?
    Thanks.

Does anyone else have a double space at the top when replying?

Did you do this in the compose window, that is, the one you use to write or when replying or forwarding?
It's also available under '''View|Contacts Sidebar''', again in the Compose window only.

  • Change "Reply" or "Forward" prefix format

Hello. I have recently changed from Windows to Mac, and as most of you guys are probably sick of, there are some "changes" I don't want. More explained, I would prefer the "Microsoft way".
When replying or forwarding a message in Apple Mail, you get a prefix just before the original message:

I like the above so much better! Just for your info, the "Sender" and "Recipient" parts are links to the respective person's e-mail addresses used to send or recieve that message. In Apple Mail, there is no link, so I don't really know who sent the message.
Is there a way to customise Apple Mail's prefix?
