Deleate missing files from catalog

With DSLR cameras we shoot tens of thousands of pictures a year and delete hundreds from our hard drives over time.  So how do you delete hundreds of missing missing files that still exist in the catalog, which cause the "Reconnect Missing Files" screen to show?  Does a setting exist to remove all missing files from the catalog?

In PSE11, do Find >> All Missing Files and select all and delete.
Thanks

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
The iTunes folder is normally inside <User's Music>. I get the idea that things are different but I don't have a clear picture yet. I think you've somehow managed to get the media folder pointed at <User's Music> instead <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media. A screenshot of the iTunes > Edit > Preferences > Advanced might help confirm. Once we know what is going on it should be possible to make suggestions as to what to do next.

  • Missing files in catalog shared between Windows and Mac

I switch between using Elements 12 on a Mac (Mountain Lion) and a Windows 7 machine while managing a common catalog.  The catalog and media are stored on an external USB 3.0 disk drive attached to whichever machine I am using to work.
This setup works fine except that on computer #1, the Organizer “loses” media files computer #2 has worked with, and vice versa.  The problem seems to be in the way Elements stores the media file location.
    Example:
My external catalog and media drive is named “JS” and assigned drive letter G: on the Windows machine.
    File “IMG_0310.JPG” is stored in directory “2007 08 18”.
On the Windows machine the location seen in the Elements Organizer Information panel is “G:\2007 08 18\”.
Using the Mac, Elements reports the file as missing, finds it, and changes the file location to “\Volumes\JS\2007 0818\”.
Returning to the Windows machine, the problem repeats itself and corrects the file location to use Windows-style path names.
This wouldn’t be so bad if Elements was faster reattaching missing files, but the search for the first few reconnects takes a very long time and the whole process grows longer the more work I did on the other machine.   This is a major annoyance and time drain.
Elements documentation promotes the use of an external drive for sharing.  Someone else must have run into this same problem.  Is there a way to configure Elements to overcome the file location problem?
    Thanks!
    [edit]
I realize PSE 12 is new and many are still on PSE 11.  Is anyone using PSE 11 experiencing this issue?

    Thank you for the response!
Looking at volume_table there are indeed two entries for the external drive (rows 3 and 5):
The Windows entry on row 3 shows the correct volume serial number in decimal as assigned when the drive was formatted.  The hex version is 7A85-0647.  The Mac entry on row 5 shows a serial number that doesn't make sense from a Windows or Mac perspective.
This is interesting but I'm not sure what to do with this information.  It may not be a bug.  It would make sense from a development viewpoint to use the serial number to uniquely identify the drive and have separate entries for each OS tied together by that serial number, allowing the drive path to differ by OS.  Although, in this case the serial numbers do not match.  Maybe the Mac and Windows versions of PSE 12 are retrieving two different serial numbers and therefore do not see the drive as the being the same, which would be a bug.

  • Remove files from Catalog

When I delete files from my harddisk, in PSE 7 they will be marked as missing files.
How can I quickly select all missing files in my catalog and remove them from my catalog?

You can filter for the raw files. If you can't see the library filter above all the thumbnails press the backslash key.
Choose text and in the search box type the extension for the raw files e.g. NEF, CR2, ARW etc. You can then select all the results (Ctrl+A) and delete or remove. Removing lets you clear the images from the catalog but keep the files in the folder on your hard drive, unless you confirm you want to delete them permanently to the recycle bin.

  • How to reconnect missing file from iCloud on PSE 12?

I placed all my photos in the iCloud and also copied them to a flash drive and removed them from the hard drive. Now Organizer asks to reconnect missing files. The drop down menu in Browse does not list the Cloud as an option. How do i reconnect from the Cloud?
    Thanks, Barb
I am using a MacBook Pro with Yosemite

You will need to keep the flash drive connected. PSE will contain links to it and the images.
Otherwise you would need to copy the files to a folder in Pictures on your internal drive or an external hard drive.

  • Recover missing files from FAT32 SD card?

I got back from a trip and used the SD card slot in my MacBook Pro to import my photos -- first into Aperture, and then using Image Capture to make a second copy as regular image files. Then I used Image Capture to delete the files from the card.
So far, so good....except nearly 300 photos have are missing -- the last 300 I took on the card. If I look at the card in the Finder now (it's FAT32), there aren't any photos on it. But there is still over 3GB of data, suggesting the missing photos' data is on there somewhere.
Any suggestions for how to recover it? TechTool Pro doesn't see the card at all (maybe doesn't support FAT32?).
    Thanks.

You can follow the way to see how to recover deleted files from sd card. Connect the data cable for the card reader to an empty USB port on your computer. Insert the SD card into the external or built-in card reader. Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop, then click "Open." Highlight and select the deleted files on the SD card you want to restore to the device. Right-click one of the selected files on the SD card and then click "Restore." Besides, you can also use Data Recvoery to restore your data even your SD card is damaged.

  • Why do I have Missing files from LaCie to Elements 9 Organizer on Mac

I am a new Elements 9 user and have a Mac OS 10.6.5.  I have attempted to load all my pictures from a LaCie external hard drive into the Organizer, but when I look at them in the Organizer very many of them indicate that the files are missing.  I have not renamed the files, nor have I moved them since they have been in the LaCie.  What in the world am I doing wrong!!!???

When I first moved pics into the Organizer, some were in folders on my laptop, some in the LaCie, some on the desktop etc.  I did subsequently move all pics into the LaCie from the various places, and then moved them again into the Organizer.  Maybe that confused the situation.  Should I remove all images from the Organizer and then  get all files from the LaCie once more?

  • Missing files from timeline

Yesterday I had completed a 5 minute video project and I exported it. Realizing I wanted to change something in my timeline, I went back, changed it and tried to export my movie again. But this time I got a "general error" pop-up. I undid my most recent change and suddenly a few of the files in my timeline went 'offline'. I tried to reconnect the files but found the original files (located in an external drive) were gone. They must have been moved/deleted or renamed somehow by the computer or Final Cut. The audio from these missing files still plays within my timeline, and other files from those same folders remained intact.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I really hope this is an easy fix.

Your system seems to have lost track of where the audio files are, or what format they are. Without knowing more about your particular case, it's hard to say precisely what is wrong. But it shouldn't be too hard to get it to re-recognize your files.
-Did the files import and play properly previously in FCP?
-Did you move the original files or resave them in a different format (such as converting them from MP3 to WAVs?)
Try saving a new copy of the files to a different hard drive on a top-level folder in a format we're certain works in FCP, such as MP3 or AIFF. Then try importing those files; if they work and play in FC, you then should be able to just reconnect to those files. Be sure to throw out the newly imported versions first.

  • Some missing files from itune

I downloaded iTune 5, and I don't know what went wrong, but I couldn't use iTune.
I tried to reinstall, and install again...but now I get the msg "some files are missing reinstall itune...
I tried to install from CD I got when I bought ipod mini, but still the same. I wonder how I can get those missing files...

With respect to the hardcoding of 127.0.0.1:8888 it is how it was intended.
If you go through the setup and deployment guide for the PIP, and follow through the steps in page 19 (Section "Configuring Integration Files"), you'll find that we include a utility in the PIP that handles substitution of the server names/ports .. one of the first steps is to setup your deployment server values in a file called CRMIntegProcessParameters.xml, where you specify your server values, after which running the utility substitutes the server-names and ports.
With respect to the missing files, again I don't see the issue. the files are included in the posted zip file in which the PIP is delivered. I just reconfirmed opening the zip file and reextracting the file reported as missing .. and it is present.

  • Missing files from photoshop elements 6

I AM NOT ABLE TO PRINT, DURN TO CD OR TRANS TO USB SOME OF MY PICTURES IN MY ORGANIZER.  CAN NOT RECONNECT BECAUSE THERE IS NO FILE TO BE FOUND WHEN I TRY RECONNECTING.  I WAS TOLD 1ST FIND FILE I DID THAT.  2ND FIND PATH THIS I DON'T KNOW
HOW TO DO. AND I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE ABLE TO RECONNECT.  IF ANYONE HAS THE ANSWER THANKS.

Are you sure that you have not deleted files from your system ? Reconnect makes a search for these files on your sysem. If files are not available, then I dont think there is any option.
Did you have backup of those files somewhere else _

  • SubVI or controls not loaded - missing files from location misc.llb

When I try to load VI in Labview 2012, I get several errors for missing files:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI ELVISmx\misc.llb\subRecordEEPROMValues.vi
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI ELVISmx\misc.llb\subGetDevProductType.vi
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI ELVISmx\misc.llb\ctl_ProductType.ctl
Why am I missing these required files?
    Solved!

The VI you're using sounds like it's using those subVIs and they're not in those locations. This can be because of a custom install where the path is not that one, or it could be a version change and those files were moved. Did you make this VI? Has it worked before? Did you install NI ELVISmx? That might be worth a shot since those are the folders that it's looking in. Just make sure the version you download in compatible until your verison of LabVIEW.

  • Missing files from mountain lion software.

I have lost some files for mountain lion and don't have enough space to download it. I have backed up my files. If I changed my hard drive capacity will I be able to download the software?

Wow... quick responses.  After a LONG time and alot of troubleshooting, I have determined that my firwire ports are not working.  This is the process I went through to determine this.
Was running Mountain Lion and using Target Disk Mode to try and copy some files to another computer.  Plugged my computer (running in TDM) into another computer and found that my HD wouldn't show up.  Rebooted my computer and noticed that it wouldn't boot into Mountain Lion.  It would sit on the Apple Logo with a spinning gear.  After a while of trying to troubleshoot the problem, I then tried reinstalling Mountain Lion on a different HD (removed my internal one and replaced it with another one - the one I'm using currently, so I know it works).  I restored the Mountain Lion InstallESD.dmg image file to an external HD and tried booting from it.  Upon trying to boot from the external drive, I too found that I was getting the Apple with Spinning Gear.  Tried to boot to Lion and got the same thing.  I then tried to install Snow Leopard and after a long time, it did install, but took a LONG TIME to boot up.  Once it booted, I checked in the System Profiler and found that my firewire ports were not working (driver wasn't loading or something the like - I don't remember the exact error code).  I then deleted the firewire kext files as many others have done, and boom, it was very fast.
This brings me back to my original question.  How would I remove the firewire kext files from the InstallESD.dmg file so that I can boot into Mountiain Lion?  Once I am able to install the OS, I will then delete the kext files in single user mode.
I should also mention that I have found the BaseSystem.dmg file and am currently trying to create a copy of it without the kext files.  I guess the problem I am having is getting my computer to boot using the modified BaseSystem.dmg file located in the InstallESD.dmg file.
Thanks again to all of you that responded so quickly.

  • Missing files from Jdev Install

    Hi,
I have tried to install jdeveloper 11.1.1.1.6. And it seems to install fine but after comparing my install to a peers, and some build errors I noticed I was missing files in jdeveloper\bin. Most notably all of the ant*.xmls. The only files I have in that dir are rcu and rcuJDBEngine..not sure of the extension. I have tried the windows installer as well as the jar. Did full installs, accepting the defaults. Any ideas why this going awry? I am on Windows 7.
    Thanks a lot!

On Windows 7 the bin directory does have only the rcu and rcuJDBEngine files, but the JDeveloper runs fine. Is the other install also on Windows 7 and the same edition?

  • Missing files from creative cloud

Numerous files have gone missing. The folders are there, but there is nothing in them. Also, I've checked the archive folder, and it is also empty.

    Hi,
While we are still investigating this issue, we would suggest you re start the Creative Cloud and the CoreSync process. This can be done manually in Activity monitor on Mac or Task Manager on Windows. A system reboot would also do the same thing.
We hope by doing this, your data that was trashed locally will then be re synced from Creative Cloud and return your sync to a normal state.
    Thanks
