Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.
Still want more, Restore in iTunes, setup as New.

How do I delete apps from the bin. They won't delete! I have deleted them in iTunes, they went into the bin but they won't delete from there. They are from another user account. A messege comes up and says I don't have permission to delete them, and they are locked. How can I tackle this please anyone? Thanks!

If you intend to ever sync your phone with your Macbook then you can't delete the app from your Macbook, otherwise the apps will also delete from your iPhone (as you've discovered).

If you plug in your iphone, click on it in iTunes, and go to the apps section, it should be checked to sync apps if you want them to show up in iTunes as well as your iPhone. Once synced they will show on both.

My son has recently become interested in the toddler apps I have on my phone. Unfortunately, he also plays outside these apps... he knows how to use the home button and swipe and has zero concept of what the actions and consequences are of what he is doing. @carrie10471 I certainly don't think you need parenting advice - I have the same issue and I just found under Settings, then under General, then under Restrictions, you'll have to set a pass code but then you'll see something for deleting apps - turn that off and you'll notice you can't delete apps anymore. You can easily turn it back on whenever you want. Just remember that pass code. I watch my son when he uses the IPad but it takes like 2 secs to delete an app - so I like this feature. Good luck :-)

I just carefully chose 30-35 apps to get rid of via iTunes, hoping it would sync to my devices, only to find I have to repeat the process on my iPad, take notes, then repeat it on my iPhone. You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn't delete it from your iTunes library.
To remove items from a device other than an iPod shuffle, first make sure that iTunes is set up to manually manage items.
1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
2. When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad icon appears in iTunes, select it.
3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary tab and make sure "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music" is selected.

This was not helpful in any way and I am still unable to delete apps on my devices in a global, iTunes based way. Each device still requires its own independent process.

Match was off. I made all of the changes and then went through the "Turn on iTunes Match" option. I now have deleted some tracks, edited the Metadata in CDDA, and then added it back. This worked fine, but it is not a good solution.
I just tried making some edits and use the "Update iTunes Match" and that seemed to work. It looks like the real answer is that Match must be up and operational, then you can make changes and run the Update to incorporate the changes. However, if Match has a problem then Signing Out and back in to your store account and going through the process of Turning On Match (were you get the questions, "Add this Computer to Match" will overwrite any changes.
Since this relies on the stability of iTunes, I won't be making a lot of changes between updates.

Regarding your first question, I believe you have to delete them from each device --- unless you first delete the app from iTunes, then sync your i-device using iTunes.
Regarding the second question, the key is to delete the app from iTunes on your Mac. That would end the undesireable behavior.

If you are syncing to the same computer that you always sync to, and have each of the items in itunes that you want synced then you shouldnt have an issue. The only way you would have an app come off your phone is if you uncheck that app from syncing in th apps location in itunes.

Using XP 32bit with iTunes 11.1.3.8 and ios 7.0.4 on ipad 3, when deleting an app and syncing using the usb cord,
I have to do twice, so once in itunes library the other time in device app tab., this to have "aligned" same pc same ipad.
If I do only one of the two steps the deleted app remains still or on device or on iTunes library.
So how to delete and sync the device only with one step (with iTunes 10.6.3 this was possible) ?
If it is called sync it has to do sync or not ?

You can also *Transfer purchases from device* to copy all your purchased content into the new library. If you've got media on the phone that wasn't backed up from the old machine then you should probably take a look at this post from Zevoneer for options on moving your data back to a computer.
