Delete bad mixes or old project files

I just started using the Garageband app on my iPhone. I love it! I'm probably overlooking something simple, but how do I delete files that I have exported. I did a few mixes of a tune that I want to delete. I can see them in iTunes, but don't know how to delete them. I'd like to be able to do the same for Garageband project files that I exported. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Highlight a file in the file sharing area. Press delete on the keyboard.
Yep, I too searched in vain for an icon or context menu, but delete does the trick.

  • Old Project Files

I currently have final cut pro HD, but found some old project files that I would like to re-edit that I created using Final Cut Pro 3. Unfortunately the project files just show up as a "Unix Executable" file and if I try to open them in FCP it says "Wrong Type". What can I do to update these project files so I can open them again?
    Thanks

  • Will I lose my old project files etc with upgrading to FCP 2

    Hi
I think after upgrading to Leopard with FCP Studio 1 not able to use compressor or DVD Studio Pro to burn. I think I need to upgrade to Studio 2 as my only logical answer without major problems. If I upgrade from 5.0.1 PowerPC version to Studio 2 will my old projects be moved over to upgrade no problem?
    Thanks
    Jason

Thanks for the reply guys! Do any of you see another solution to the problem of leopard and using the older apps? I guess it is better to start new after installing leopard. Lastly do I need to trash the old FCP 1 before install of FCP 2 or does it just upgrade it?
    Thanks Jason

  • Trouble updating old project files...

I'm running into mulitple issues trying to update an old project for a client....
The previous project was created in MX2004 and while trying to import the project into 11.5, I'm hitting all kinds of walls.
    1. Previous developed integrated INM Impressario into the project, and from my research, it seems that may have been discontinued.
    2. When attempting to update the movie and casts, Director is bringing up error messages  "Problem writing...." and "Having trouble saving..."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used the Impressario Xtra a while back with Director 11.5 without any major problems.
It seems likely that you trying to use version 3 when you need to use version 4.
You may need to remove the Impressario parts of project before updating and then redo them.

  • Advice before flushing drives of old project files

I'm sure it's a dumb newbie question but be gentle please. What's the difference, in terms of underlying files that must be retained, between a disk image, a QT movie, and Video_TS - Audio_TS ?
I'm done and just need to retain what is necessary to make another DVD if aunt Minnie loses her copy of the kids Christmas 1979.
The .mov is 13.9 gigs, .img is 3.4 gigs, no question about those, but its hard to determine a total for Vido_TS without knowing if it's free standing or requires other files.
    Dual 2.0 G5 4GB ram   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   FCP 4.5 HD, QT 7, DVDSP 3, 900 mb assorted drives

    John,
If you need to retain the working files for the project, if you will ever want to change anything on it ever again, then you should save your m2v files, menus, and whatever else you've included. You can try and back them up on a DVD or on a drive.
If all you want is the ability to create a duplicate in the event of loss or damage to the original, then you only need a copy of the DVD (yeah scratches are possibility) or the _TS folders (AUDIO AND VIDEO) copied to a hard drive.
To burn copies of the _TS folders from your drive, you can either:
    1. Insert a blank DVD, drag the _TS folders to the disc and click burn.
    2. Open TOAST, drag the _TS folders into the disc, click burn.

  • Old iDVD files?

I have several files from an old backup (around 7-yrs old)
    chickens.dvdproj    274.5MB
    My Great DVD.dvdproj 34.8MB
    crystal.dvdproj 427.1MB
I'm not likely to ever reopen them, I do not even have iDVD to check them on my new iMac, though I want to make sure I'm not deleting anything important.
    1. Way back when I worked on these projects, did I copy my files into iDVD or did I move my files into iDVD? In other words, I want to make sure that my original source files would be somewhere else on my backup and not moved and embedded into these iDVD files. If they were embedded/moved into these files than I would not want to delete them.
    Thanks.

The project files will contain versions of videos added to the project.  However, the audio for those movies are stripped from the file leaving only the video.  However the files in the project package only contain the video portion of the movie file.  The audio has been stripped out and stored in an audio file that I've not been able to crack.  This screenshot is from a project with 1 iDVD slideshow from stills and 3 movie files.
The movie files are circled in the iDVD menu as well in the MPEG folder of the Resources folder.
Open one of the packages and see if you can recover anything that's worthwhile.  Unless you added media files to the DVD-ROM portion of the project
there won't be any usable files that can be recovered.

  • Need someone on PC to open and save Pro 1.5 project file in CS3

I am trying to salvage one of my old project files from when i worked on a PC. i can't do this because CS3 for Mac won't import old PC project files.
If anyone would be so kind as to accept my small project file and save it in Premiere Pro CS3 on their PC i would be much obliged.
    -Dave

    theaveragedave,
On the Mac, the Project file will *usually* appear without any file extension. Instead there will be one, or more, "helper/locator" files. These will usually be the filename, but with "._" (or similar) prepended to it. These are of no use to a PC.
All that I did was Copy the Project files to a new folder, and in it, added the ".prproj" extension. All opened fine. (Actually, since this was a pre-Pro version, I think that I added ".proj," but you would use ".prproj.")
If I were going to "convert" the Project, I'd gather up all Assets, keeping the folder structure exactly the same. Gather up the Project files (renaming, as is necessary), and furnish all of this to the person doing the conversion. This *should* keep your Asset Links working*. The other option would be to just convert the Project file, but then you will have to manually re-Link every Asset. If one gets lucky, and the Assets are stored in one folder, PP *might* be able to have you locate the first missing Asset, and then automatically locate the rest. I hesitate on this last comment, because you will have converted the Project, so things do not always work 100% the way they would otherwise. I had to do a lot of re-Linking, but I was jumping several versions and from Mac to PC. Still, once the Assets were re-Linked, all has worked perfectly.
Good luck finding a PC operator with CS3. Should not be that hard. Wish I could help you more, but CS2 won't cut it, for what you need to do.
    Hunt
    * Keeping the drive letter the same will be a big step to keeping your links. Let's say that you are working on your D:\ drive (sure that Mac would call it something else), and you copy over to an external. I'd have the PC operator copy the Assets (with folder structure) to their D:\, just to keep the Links. Does this make sense?
PS one little consideration is Mac's not using NTSF HDDs and the file size limitation of Fat-32 HDDs. However, you already have your Project and its Assets on a Mac, so this is probably moot.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashes when loading project file

Hi guys, any help on this is much appreciated as I have a job due in 18 hours and I'm in big trouble if I can't fix this.
I've been editing a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (updated to the latest version) and when I tried to access the same file today it is giving me the error message:
'Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.'
I had saved other version files and they all seem to be working properly so I know it's not my HD that is corrupt. In fact my suspicion is that it has something to do with a blur effect i'm using. The only problem is, I can't even access the file to delete the effect as the project file won't open.
    Information about my computer:
I am using a Macbook Pro
    OS X version 10.9.4
    2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory 16 GB, 1600 MHz DDR3
    Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • How to update project files in Archive ?

    Hi there,
When we start up our 10.0.6, it will ask us whether we want to update the project files.
For effieciency purposes, I moved a lot of my project files to an acrhived folder so that FCPX doesn't search for it when loading.
Thus, I believe, the projects files in the archive folder will not be updated. So, how will these be updated ?
    Thanks

OIC, so when the FCPX is launched, it will come out with a message asking you to update whenever you move an old Project files and/or Event files to the "correct" folder ?

  • Can't open FPC 5.1 project file over 20 MB

    Hello,
I just upgraded from a dual 2.7 G5 with FCP 5.1 (Studio 1), to a 2x2 GHz dual-core Intel Mac Pro with 5 GB RAM. I upgraded to the FCP Studio 2, with FCP 6, at the same time.
This is the problem I'm having: I cannot open any FCP project file over about 20 MBs. I can open any up to and including one 19.3 MB file. I've tried ones that were 250k, 1.5, 4, 7, 11MB, etc. However, I cannot open a 22.4 MB project file, or any larger ones (going up to about 55 MB). These are old project files that I can open just fine on my old mac.
Is this a known issue? I was unable to find any similar posts on the forums. Any help on this would be great.
    Thanks

here is a link to a snippet of the program to give you an idea of the depth, the treatment is similar throughout the 9min20sec.
    digital-image.com.au/videos/Spectacular_V19.mov
    Workflow...
    Project contains variety of elements
    DV captured from tape
DV from MPG1s converted in MPEG streamclip
    still images
    masks using "Travel Matte Luma"
sequences & vision created in motion, both projects and exported vision on timelines.
text created in Live type, so animation footage included.
    Lower third banners, jpegs
    audio as AIFs
all the usual bit and pieces.
Contains about 19 version of this sequence, plus 4 other sequences which are basic transitions with 1/2 doz versions of each.
So each time I look at making amendments or significant changes to a sequence I will create a duplicate and increase a version number. The project is backed up regularly, unfortunately in the migration from the G5 to the MacPro all of the auto saves were ditched... However if I do any major revisit I create a duplicate of the project, so in the move from the G5 to MacPro I went from V4 to V5, knowing that it would want to update the project file from FCP5x to FCP6x.

  • Finalcut pro project file

    Here's a question:
I am currently working on a project in FCP 7. All my project files are stored on external drives. After finishing yesterday. I closed the project file and saved it as usual. Today i tried to open the project file that I had been working in the day before, alas it won't open, it won't open in autosave as well, hmmmm. All the older project files open up even from the same drive, If I open an old project file and save as new it opens up. The current one is the only that won't open just the beach ball and bang it quits, could this one project file be corrupted?
    Thanks,
    Stuart

  • How do I read a Premiere 6 project file?

I had Premiere 6 on an old Mac a few years ago, and created a project using footage of an event from two MiniDV cameras, one stationary and one mobile. Edited them together into a seamless video using the stationary footage as my base and cutting to the mobile (video only) when it had a better shot. But I never printed this project to video.
That old Mac is now gone, and my new one won't run Premiere 6. I have a copy of Final Cut Express and would like to recreate my project in it (still have all the source clips). I figure that I should be able to take the in and out points listed in the Premiere project file and use them to quickly set up the same timeline in an FCE project that I had in my Premiere project, but I haven't been able to figure out that information when reading my project file in a text editor.
Does anyone have a resource for interpreting the contents of a Premiere project file?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Paul,
The Project file (PROJ, IIRC, though probably without that actual file extension on the Mac) is XML with links to the media, and then instructions for Premiere. Actually "reading" and making much sense out of it, will be difficult, but you should be able to Open it in most document viewers. On a PC, one can use NotePad, but as the fiile will not have a recognized file format, one must use the All Files dropdown. Not sure about Mac document readers, but it should be the same, or very similar.
Now, and likely not of much use to you, those old Project files can be Opened in later versions, but with limitations. As Pr 6.5 was the last version that was X-platform, until CS3, there is a big gap (Pr 7.0/PrPro 1.0 and PrPro 2.0), and IIRC, Mac CS3 of PrPro could not Open the old versions. The workaround was to befriend a PrPro PC CS3 user, who could Open the old version, and then just Save to a CS3 PRPROJ file, that later Mav versions could handle. Several later Mac users, had to use that workaround, and at the same time, also made friends with some PC users. Not sure if there are any newer workarounds.
Also, I cannot recall when Adobe added more support for going from/to FCP and PrPro, but I doubt that even if you had Mac Pr 6.0, it would offer many useful options. Others will have to fill in the blanks there.
Wish that I had more to offer, but my exploration of older Pr Mac Project files was limited to Opening them in PrPro 2.0 on my PC. Most Opened just fine, with but a few minor exceptions (some Transitions failed to translate, as did a few 3rd party Effects. PrPro was kind enough to point those out, and even give me the TimeCode, plus the name of the missing Transitions, and Effects. That does not help you though.
Good luck, and maybe you will be better at reading those XML instructions, than I  have been. Other than finding missing/broken links to Assets, it all looks like Greek to me.

  • Difficulty opening old projects.  Disk too slow, bad files, etc...

Recently I've been trying to update old song files. I have a bunch of projects from Logic 6 that have trouble in Logic 7. I get tons of "Disk too slow or System Overload" errors and Logic Crashes quite a bit as a result. The songs aren't overly processor intense, so I think something else must be the problem. When trying to move song files into a new project folder, I get "bad file" errors. The audio files will play, but it seems the computer may be having trouble playing them. Anyone have any experience with this?

  • How can I delete a corrupted old sessionstore file (it's affecting my restore session feature)?

On 2/29/12, Windows reported that sessionstore-38.js was corruput and unreadable and requested I run CHKDSK. I run it but this file was not deleted. Also, it has resulted in my Firefox session restores to be "frozen" (same windows and tabs) to back on 2/29 when this bad file situation started on 2/29/12. I've even tried using new sessions but Firefox constantly reverts back to the old set of windows and tabs from 2/29 whenever the session drops. Help me please!!!

Numbers in sessionstore file names can indicate that Firefox had a problem replacing your old session file with a new one.
The quickest way to open your profile folder is
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Open Containing Folder" button
Once the folder is open, you might need to close Firefox before proceeding.
Please read the solution from cor-el in this thread before deleting any files: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/901885 session restore issues | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help].

  • Using iDVD project file after deleting original iMovieHD

I've been using iMovieHD and iDVD to convert my home movies from miniDV tapes to DVDs. I've been putting two one-hour tapes together into one iMovie and then creating an iDVD project with themes, chapters, etc.
Each two-hour iMovie file takes up >20 GB. Before I burned my DVD, the iDVD project file took up only a few MB. After I burned the DVD, the file size grew to >4 GB, so I figured (erroneously, it seems) that this new file package contained all of the information needed to keep burning DVDs. Threfore, I deleted the original massive iMovie file and kept only the iDVD project file.
Now every time I try to load the iDVD file, the program lists all the missing files and, other than my themes and chapter titles, there is nothing left of the original project.
Am I missing something here? What's taking up all that space (4 GB)? Am I completely screwed? Is the only way to make new copies of my project to copy the DVD that I made?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Jay,
As John has said, you should have created a Disc Image of your DVD project before deleting the iMovie file. When working in iMovie/iDVD you must not delete ANYTHING that is in the project, not even the iMovie trash can, which often mysteriously fills up with "stuff", until you are sure you are finished editing and then have saved a Disc Image to burn further DVD's from. The files you deleted from iMovie were the reference for the file you were using in iDVD. Without that iMovie file, your iDVD project will only show what was created there, like your theme page.
Sorry that's bad news. Your options now are re-create your iMovies from your tapes, OR, rip the DVD you have back to your Mac to burn more DVD's.
