Delete duplicate images and install images from digital photo card

Just installed Lightroom 4, more than 60000 images were imported. Many of them were duplicates, triplets and so on. I want to have a clean, unincombured library. Should I delete the 60000 images and reinstall the images from my photo digital cards or use the slow process of "X" out the unwanted images? I would like to start improving my images vs removing the unwanted images.

if you just starting to use Lr, I would drop the entire import / catalog and use some external program to find the dublicate image and delete them.
Or if you have all your images on cards, I would copy them to the hdd in seperated folders and rearrage them inside Lr.

How do you expect anyone to help when we don't know a darned thing about the file, abut your setup, exact version of Photoshop and your OS, machine specs, etc.?

Before image and after image is not updating correctly with 2LIS_04_P_ARBPL

I am facing problem with the posting date extraction from the extractor 2lis_04_p_arbpl. I am getting incorrect before image and after image. Please let me know how to solve this problem.

Hi,
It is difficult to check this in the Source System and there is no direct method. I can give you a workaround which we did analysed for some of delta datasources.
Steps to be followed sequentiall once the step is successful:
1. Create a Production order or something.. Note down the number.
2. Check the datasource whether you get the same Production Order as delta
3. Now do whatever confirmation etc . for the same Production Order
4. Check the datasource (RSA3) and see wat it extracts.. might be multiple records..
In that case just see the sequence of records.. and the changes each record has brought in.. hope this way we can simulate the delta datasource realtime..
And if you find the sequence or somthin is correct and in BW is not updating properly then it is our fault to dig and find out further.. If the issues is at the RSA3 itself, then u can raise an OSS Message as a Bug.

Placing OS image and Data image on right partition

Hi ,
We are facing issue in placing right image at the right partition.
We have OS image and data image. We are formatting and partitioning HDD as 40% (OSDisk) and remaining 100% as (Data). Both paritioons are active and selected as primary.
Then in installing operating system step, i have selected place image based on variable 'OSDisk'
and Data image is also slected to be placed based on variable 'Data'.
TS finishes without any issues but when i login to the machine i can see that OSDisk has become 'D' Drive and Data Drive has become 'C' so it shows C drive with label as 'Data' and D drive is label as 'OSDisk'
I want to place OS on C drive and Data drive should always be as 'D' drive.
I have tried another method and this time i tried to install OS as 'place based on stored variable i.e. OSDisk but install data image as next available partition but with this placement OS never boot after restart and TS eventually fails.
My aim is to make 'C' drive contain OS image and 'D' Drive to containg data image content and not the otherway around as it is happening with current test.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes it is Config manager 2012 R2 but image is actually not source media install.wim. It a custom captured image through MDT2013. Image has 1 partition only.
However I tried the above solution but drive letters are still not coming correct for OSDisk and Data Drive. Data is coming on 'C' drive and OSDisk is coming at 'D' drive.

LO Cookpit: what is "Before Image" and "After Image" related to Delta ?

Someone mentions "Before Image" and "After Image" which is related to Delta method in source systems. Someone know what they mean?

Before Image and After Image are different Record modes present.
Before Image :
Lets assume the data present in the Cube and ODS is
Doc No --Mat Type --- QTY

Now let assume that the data has changes and the quatity has to be changed from 10 to 8.This can be done in different way depending on if we are using a Cube or ODS.
If its a Infocube . i.e it is additive so we can send the before image and the after image together
Eg:
Doc No -
MAT type -
QTY
120--M01--
-10
120--M01--
8
If the Data Source sends both the before image and the after image, this combination can be loaded in any cube or ODS target. For ODS targets, if Overwrite setting is made, then only the after image(the last one) will make it to the Activation queue table of the ODS. If the ODS is set to Addition then both before and after image are needed to make a correct load to the target.

I don't believe I did move or delete my catalogue. Where can I look for my catalog file. Why does my Lightroon now contain more images and ones I don't want on it, without my physically importing them?

ITunes 10.2 Upgrade fix temporary. Fix to iTunes 10.2.2 by uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and install AMDS from 10.0. Worked only to fail in 5 days. iTunes back to very slow to open and will not see device (iPhone) connected. Sorry

I was one this site for 20+ Days and found a fix for 10.2.1 when it failed. I Uninstalled all, following other attempts that failed, then installed latest Version from Apple iTunes 10.2.12. I then uninstalled Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) and installed AMDS from the older 10.0 version of iTunes. Success it worked. Today, I am now back to old problem, iTnes takes very long time to open and fails to see my device when connected (iPhone). I really only have iTunes for my iPhone no extensive library a few hundred CD's in music location and no podcasts. I have less than 6 moveis and want to update them now. I am willing to lose all in iTunes library if need be just to get computer to see G3 iPhone with iOS 4.2 and let me synch once again. I like security of backup too. It older iTunes may now not support, that too is OK. I still want to get the 3GS (no 4G desires, yet) and do not care if any of it is the latest from Apple as long as it works.

Your basic suggestion actually worked for me. But this is what I did for others who are having issues removing/installing etc.
1. Download the latest iTunes 8.2. You should end up with a file iTunesSetup.
2. If you dont already have WinRAR, download free copy from http://www.rarlab.com/ and install.
3. Right click on iTunesSetup and choose "Extract" to somewhere you know. eg C:\itunetemp
4. Open up folder where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi
5. It should ask you if you want to repair or remove... choose remove.
6. REBOOT your PC.
7. Go back to where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi and go through the install.
8. Plug in your iPhone.
If all is well iTunes should automatically start and start syncing your iPhone.

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if you can then update the app.
If you do delete the app then you should be able to re-download your ibook purchases via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app. But in case some of them are no longer available in the store and/or you have PDFs or epubs in it, then you could first connect it to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) which should copy them over to the Books part of your iTunes library so that you have your own copy of them and can sync them back (even though they aren't iTunes purchases it should also copy over any PDFs or epubs that you have in the iBooks app)

If it's in the purchased page and doesn't download, you should contact Apple.

When I try to sync photos, I followed all the steps, picked one folder. When I hit "apply" I get this error message: Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad. This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad. What have I done wrong

I have the same problem. I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad - clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad. WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

Finding duplicate files is something a lot of people do. I do not understand why Apple hasn't built it as part of Smart Folders? It would have taken a good coder only 1 hour of work to do that!

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.
