Delete/edit playlists without iTunes?

Is it possible to delete or edit playlists directly on the iPhone without using iTune? I have 3 playlists:
On-The-Go 1
On-The-Go 2
On-The-Go 3
I want to delete/edit them without syncing with iTunes. Can it be done?

You cannot delete the On-The-Go # playlists because they have been synced with your computer and copied back onto the iPhone. For those, you will need to have a computer to delete/edit those playlists. You can erase the contents of the standard On-The-Go playlist (before it has been synced and assigned a number) on the iPhone by going into the playlist, selecting Edit, and choosing Clear Playlist.

The tutorial states that there is a button on the bottom half of the screen that should allow for this, like there was in

Thanks for your response...The problem is that I do not have that button under the button for the Itunes store.
I have inserted a screenshot to demonstrate this, but it might be too small to see properly.

Deleted iPod Playlist but iTunes shows iPod with same capacity as before!

Can you help out? I wanted to free up some space on my iPod, so I deleted one of my Playlists through iTunes, however, although the Playlist has successfully been erased, shown capacity has not! The playlist was ~2.5GB, but my iPod's capacity meter has not changed at all!!
What's up?! I would love the extra capacity please (my iPod nano 2G is the 8GB version)!!

Indeed you deleted the playlist but not the songs... you can check on the "Music" tab that all the songs remain in your ipod... if you want to delete songs you have to do it from this "Music" tab... deleting the playlist doesn't delete the songs inside

WHen I plug one of my ipods (4th gen.) into my Mac it deletes most of my iTune playlist libreary and I donn't know where they go or if I can get them back.

It appears you have some boxes checked incorrectly. iTunes ill only sync the iTunes you want 9excpet sometimes it fails to sync some items). iTunes does not sync not marked/checked to sync to the iPod.

I am having a problem with iTunes deleting my playlists since iTunes Radio came online. Help!

First of all, I'm a music teacher and loyal to iTunes. Last week I came in and turned on my computer and opened up iTunes. I keep my entire library on an external drive due to the volume of songs I have. When I opened iTunes, it popped up with the iTunes Radio icon and started going through my preferences and playlist. Next thing you know, iTunes is stuck (frozen). I did a control-alt-delete and closed iTunes that way. This happened about 4 times before I thought, well, maybe I don't have the most recent version of iTunes, so I downloaded the latest. After I did this, ALL OF MY PLAYLISTS DISAPPEARED. A music teachers worst nightmare. Years of sorting music into categories and lesson! UGH!!! Some of the CD's I had imported also disappeared. So I did what any person would do. I poked around trying to find where they had gone, to no avail, then I started all over again rebuilding my playlists. Anyway, things were running normally until yesterday. I opened iTunes in the morning and it ran fine. In the afternoon when I opened it again, the same thing happened all over again. What should I do. Is there a way to retrieve the playlists? Can I disable the iTunes Radio? This cannot happen again!! Help, friends who are smarter than I! I'm about ready to convert to Google Music. (I know.... I said the name which shall not be spoken.... sorry.)

How to delete/add playlist in iTunes?

I have a new iPod Nano and have sync'd and registered it with iTunes on my Mac. However, there isn't any way to create or delete playlist under the iPod Nano icon in iTunes. Anyone have some suggestions on how to do this?

How to browse my playlists without itunes switching to them automatically?

I remember in an older version of itunes I could be playing an album from eith the "music" tab or from one of my smart playlists on shuffle, and then while the album was playing I could browse my other playlists, or if I was playing from a playlist I could browse my music. Now though, after I updated to the newest itunes, it will automatically shuffle from whatever I am browsing currently, even if I was playing from a playlist originally.
I understand that a way around this is to just drag the album into the top bar to make a playlist, so that those songs will go before whatever I am browsing, but this does not help when I want to shuffle from a playlist while looking through my collection.

Enable the sidebar with CTRL+S.
Locate a playlist.
Click the shuffle playlist tool at the top.
Browse around your library.

Editing playlists in iTunes

My music folder from PC has many folders within folders. I want to copy these into iTunes in a similar way, but it would cause toooo many playlists. Is there a way to do sub playlists within playlists.
Also, how can I remove the default checkmarks on every new file added to a playlist? It seems that every time I play something, if there are checkmarks, iTunes goes to a random one and plays. I want iTunes to stop and shut up when a song is finished. Is that too much to ask?

I deleted my contacts and do not have access and never downloaded itunes. I do have an icloud account, however. What to do to retrieve my contacts?

I deleted a gmail account that i was using for icloud, then created an icloud account not knowing that my contacts were linked to the gmail. I saw my contacts online at icloud. Anyway, i figured it out by deleting my new icloud and signing back in with the gmail.

- Wait for iOS 5. Howevr, that will require a computer to install it.
- Completely erase your iPod by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase Content and Settings. However, I thin that requires that you connect the iPod to a computer to reactivate it.

Purchased Song to Playlist Without iTunes?

Is it possible to add a purchased song on the iPhone to a playlist just using the phone? What if you don't have access to a computer, are you stuck with the song in the main list?
Would be nice to be able to just "slide" it over to a list is all.

You can only change on-the-go playlists on the iphone.

Ever since the last download, I am unable to edit my playlists on itunes. When my phone is not plugged in, my playlists that are on my phone are not on itunes but my songs are. Only the default playlists show up. How can I get all of my playlists back?

I usually create and edit playlists on itunes and then sync my phone to update my phone. Ever since the last upgrade, I can't do this. When I open itunes, my playlists are not there, only the songs and the default playlists. Deleted playlists in itunes

i mistakenly deleted my playlists in itunes. they still exist on the ipod. is there any way to transfer them back to itunes from the ipod. i'm worried that when i next synch the ipod it will wipe my playlists from the ipod too. or do i have to manually recreate the playlists in itunes. i'd be extremely gtrateful for advice. thanks

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down Control-Alt if you are using iTunes 7 (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.

Cannot delete movie file from iTunes

After converting movie file via Quicktime and adding it to the iTunes library, I am not able to remove it anymore. If you try to delete it, it crashes iTunes and after that all desktop icons are frozen. The movie does not play in iTunes, you cannot edit its info without crashing iTunes either. Movie plays in preview pane in Finder....

Try deleting the file without iTunes running.
When you next open iTunes it should then be marked as a missing file and you should be able to delete the entry from iTunes.
