How do I delete emails from iPhone 5 but not from server?

If its a POP account try this:
Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts and Calendars
Tap on your mail account
Scroll to the bottom
Tap on Advanced
Tap on "Delete from server" and set it to "Never"

I have had email from my ISP (Plus.net) that I'm over their "email limit"
Apparently after I download the emails to my Mac they are not being delted from the server.
So I try to google an answer and they say "Go to Preferences > Account > Advanced and select the third option "delete email from server" or some such.
However... when I go to Preferences > Account > Advanced etc no such option exists
I have "Keep copies for offline viewing" - the exact opposite option and doesn't help me at all!!!
If I select "don't keep copies" the whole inbox disappears!!! And I'm thinking: what is the point of an app that deletes all its data?
Anyway I only have a few days before Plus.Net kicks me off their service...

Imap accounts should be in sync with their server (the website) so anything you delete from Mail should be deleted from the website. Yours appears not to be working.
Check whether (in Mail) 'Store Deleted Messages on Server' is selected or not.

My deleted emails on iPhone 4s are not being deleted from server

I'm facing a problem with my iPhone 4s when deleting emails. Unfortunately, they are not being deleted from the server. I tried setting the account in pop and imap with settings to delete from server and trash ticked. Still they keep on appearing in Outlook which is a double work to do. Please advise.

I'm no expert by far, but have had issues with this before.
IMAP should allow your iPhone to remove messages from the server.
But have you made sure both the iPhone and Outlook are connecting via IMAP?
If your iPhone does remove the messages from the server, but your computer is using POP, then the computer may download the email before it is removed form the server by your iPhone.
This was my issue, that my computer had already downloaded the message, and POP does not check later if it is deleted.
If you delete a message from Outlook does it disappear on the iPhone?
Alternativly you may need to check the email server settings.
Who is your email provider?
They may be able to check if IMAP allows you to remove emails.

My IPad is deleting emails from server; how do I stop it?

I have an IMac and an IPad; my wife has a Microsoft system. All are on a network with Apple router. Just in the last week or so, when I delete emails from my IPad, it deletes them from the ATT server, whether they have been read on the other machines or not. How can I get the messages to stay on the server? Thanks for any help!

If yur email account is an IMAP, you can't. It is working as designed. Only delete a message from any device when you actually want it deleted.
If you are using a POP account, you can fix that in settings:
Settings app > Mail,Contacts, Calendars > [the account in question] > Advanced > Incoming Settings > Delete from server > set to Never.

Iphone 5 is deleting emails from server since upgrade to 7.02

since upgrading to ios 7.02 (iphone 5) my emails are being deleted from the server even though it is mark never.
Have lost a huge amount of emails especially as I went through the fiasco when the first upgrade decided to downlood all my emails from the server including the older ones. (Now these are not available on the server since the 7.02 upgrade).
Emails have also been deleted from my mac which is synced some how.
I used to keep my inbox on iphone 5 lean and my inbox on imac complete but it not seems that I can not do this.
This is crazy.
I use this for my business and losing important emails is not funny.
ps No more upgrades for me. (Phone or Software - will be looking elsewhere when changing phone)
How can I stop this happening and how can I get my mail back?

Thank you for your response.
It seems that others have been hit with this issue.
I note the issue of the old emails being downloaded because the server after the upgrade thought that it was a new device.
I resolved this by deleting the old emails from the phone. (ios7.1) which did not delete from server even though as you stated imap configuration is designed to do this.
The reason that it did not delete from the server is that I set my email account on the iphone 5 to never delete from server.
Which is what I want as I wanted to keep the old emails on my server for reference ( I even pay extra to my hosting company for the extra storage of emails ) and not have thousands of emails on my iphone.
However when I upgraded to ios7.2 even though no changes to email acounts were made by me it deleted the emails from my imac and also from my server.
It seems that somehow the phone was being signed into the server as new device orginally when it was upgraded to ios 7.1 and even though I deleted the the thousands of emails from the phone it did not delete from the server as I had set the account on the phone as never delete from server.
When I upgraded to ios7.2 it seems that the phone remembered the old emails that were deleted and ignored the setting I had chosen to never delete from the server which resulted in the old emails being deleted from server which of course I did not want.
Some of the emails I needed went back as far as 2007.
The setting chosen to not delete emails on server after upgrade to ios7.2 is still ticked but seems to ignore it.
This is unacceptable that a phone upgrade can create this havoc. ( These are my business emails which I no longer have)
I have invested some £10,000 on apple products and this is how they repay me.
Will not be buying an iphone again.
Apologies for the rant Chris.
But many thanks for your effort in trying to come up with a solution.
I will just have to keep all my emails on my iphone until I change my phone.

Delete Email from Server... or Not...

I have yet to see a single person raise the same challenge I am having with email. So, I suspect there must be a feature I am not configuring properly... or something.
I have configured a POP email account. I want to be able to delete from the server AND just from the handheld without going back into the configuration menu. Is there a way to do this? Just looking for the flexibility to keep some emails on the server AND eliminate spam from the server so that, when I get to my email client on my laptop, on the email I chose not to delete from the server remains. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.

There is a setting on the iPhone for POP accounts that will remove messages from the server. If you check in Settings > Mail, tap on your POP account, and go to Advanced, you will see an option to "Delete from Server." You can use the option "When removed from Inbox" so that when you move spam messages to the trash, they should be removed from the POP server. You can also set the frequency to remove deleted messages off the iPhone so that the messages you have in the trash will be deleted.
I would highly recommend testing this process with some test messages until you find the settings that work best for you, so that you do not end up deleting important messages by mistake.

I've bin looking all over the internet with regards to this question of mine. As I mentioned, whenever i download an email to my iphone, it seems to disappear from the server. I have several pop3 email account's installed to in my iphone and i have set them all to never delete anything from the server. But the moment i download the emails to my phone, the mails are all gone. I've bin searching everywhere... Please help... thanks in advanced

Delete emails from server when removed from phone inbox

I want my server (Verizon Yahoo) to trash and delete messages when I trash or delete them on my 5s. I have gone into my Verizon account on the phone, made sure Trash was selected rather than Archive, selected "Delete from server..."when removed from inbox"", restarted, etc. Everything else works in the account, and when I delete on the server, it is deleted on the phone. I want emails to delete from the server when I remove them from the phone's inbox. Supposed to happen, but doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't very clear, I guess. What I want to do is Trash or Trash>Delete emails on my iPhone 5s and have them go away from the inbox on my Verizon/Yahoo server. That does not happen now, even though I have set the setting on my phone to do so. All the stuff in my inbox on the server reappears the next time my phone inquires, including the emails I've sent to Trash (on the phone) and those I've Trash>Deleted there. Not too worried about permanent, real, NSA-type deletion, because that just isn't going to happen - I am worried about the poor agent at NSA who has to read my boring, mundane emails, though. I just don't want to see stuff I've Deleted from my phone's inbox come back to the inbox. Zombiemail!

Deleting email on iPhone 4, but doesn't delete on computer email-how to??

I just got an iPhone, so have lots of questions. Namely, when I delete emails on my phone, they are not deleted from my computer (MacBook). I don't know if this is a synching thing or what. So, I have to delete them twice, which seems silly.
I read something about an IMAP account, but not sure what that is or how to do it. Currently, I have a POP account through Verizon.

Delete email from server hotmail

I have a 3GS, I have recently updated to IOS 5. I used to be able to select whether or not to delete mail from the Hotmail server when I delete the mail from the iPhone, I basically use the iPhone as a preview device, delete them from the phone and deal with the emails from home. Since the update my phone now deletes the mail from the server and I cant find anything in the settings to change this......................am I correct or not? Help??

Hi - I am using a Ipad Air and am having an Email issue. When I delete on Ipad it automatically deletes on Server. This never used to happen. I have tried all the usual of changing the Advanced setting but still no joy. Any Ideas? BTW using BTinternet.

Deleting emails from server

I opened my email from a dektop computer and NOTHING was there. All emails are gone and not in the trash ! They were there yesterday. My husband was having trouble w/ a cell phone using alot of battery and he tried deleting a bunch of programs inclding getting emails on his phone this morning. Is this possible him doing that has actually removed them from the home computer ? Also, something else that is odd, I am missing 2 days worth of emails on my cell phone. But previous emails are there. I have never had anything like this happen before. I totally rely on the home computer to kepp personal emails. Can I retrieve the emails ?

If the cell phone is not configured to leave copies of messages on the server, then they will be deleted from Xfinity Connect.
Check your phone settings.

Delete emails from server after retrieving with IMAP protocol?

I am using Mail as my email program and have set up my account with IMAP.
When I use the POP protocol, I get the option to 'Remove copy from server after retrieving message'. When I set up Mail with the IMAP protocol, there is no such an option. The result is that my server inbox is slowly filling up and I manually have to login on my server to delete older messages.
Is there a setting to automatically remove retrieved messages from my email server using IMAP?

Still I would like to know if there is a way to automatically remove retrieved messages from the e-mail server. Would it help to automatically move my incoming messages in INBOX to a different mailbox in Mail.app? How would I set this up?

Blackberry Z10 has deleted all my emails from all my accounts...also it has deleted emails from server side (OS Rev. 10.1.0.4181)

It's happened a bad thing.
My Z10 (OS 10.1.0.4181) has decided to delete, from all my email account , each emails from july to today!!!! It's unacceptable!!! I have paid 700 Euro for a smartphone that delete my email?! It has deleted also emails from the server!!!

What type of email accounts are added to the BlackBerry Z10? Are they all POP3 and IMAP accounts? Also when a message is removed from the BlackBerry smartphone it will remove it from the mail server, this is by design.
Did you do any software updates recently?

How to sync apple air 2 email with iphone 6 but not delete from email client

My boss recently purchased a IPad air 2. How do I keep Ipad air 2 and iphone6 in sync? He want the emails to be removed from the other device if he deletes from one, but to not be removed from mail email client. I am new to apple products and have no idea how to make this work.

No, that is the way that Blackberry mail used to work. The Apple mail connects directly to the mail server. The use of multiple mail clients with POP accounts is a pain, and is not how that type of mail was designed to be used. Not sure exactly why he wants to delete the mail from the individual clients, but IMAP works so much better as it keeps everything in sync, and will reflect when mail is read on one client and will show it as read on others, if he finds it necessary to check mail on multiple clients.

I have desktop running Vista and Windows Mail and iPhone 4S. I receive email fine on the iPhone but when I read or reply or delete email on iPhone it does not "register" on the desktop that I have done so.

It seems like once the messages are received on each device they no longer talk to each other. They do not "synch" after intital receipt of message.
Please help.

If this is a POP email account that is normal as they don't sync but merely allow devices to retrieve messages from the server. You have to use an IMAP or exchange account to have changes on one device reflected on the other.
