Delete files problem in organiser PSE 7

This may have been answered in previous discussions but I when I delete old files from the organiser it sometimes, but not always goes back to the top of the organiser ie latest photos added. It sounds petty but after it has happened for the thirtieth time it becomes really annoying. Can anyone help?

Update almost never issues bug-fix updates, so to get fixes you have to wait a year and buy the next version, at full price (no effective discounts for upgrades).
Re new features in PSE 8, see this comparison:
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/upgrade/?view=compare
In the Organizer:
- The Auto-Analyzer seems like a silly toy that no one has reported finding useful; it consumes lots of CPU and modifies every single file in your catalog.
- The face recognition works pretty well but has some limitations.  Reactions here are mixed -- some people find it very useful, some not.
- The new Keyword Tags text box would be nice if it worked, but it crashes the Organizer after a couple dozen uses.
- Full Screen mode has slowed down considerably on large catalogs, making near unusable.
I like the new features in the Editor and find them worthwhile.

  • PSE not saving edited files to the organiser

    For no apparent reason my PSE 11 application seems to have developed an annoying glitch whereby part way through an editing process it stops doing as requested in the "Save" options, by not saving edited files as version sets of the original file in the Organiser. The files are saved OK to My Pictures and I then get advised that a file is available to import and I have to import each one, stack it with the original, and put the edited file on top. This is driving me nuts as I have about 1000 photos to edit. What is causing this problem? My only thoughts are that I have c.30000 picture files in the Organiser (but this hasn't caused any problems in adding new files)  and that the problem seems to have arisen since I started editing files directly from within an Album.
    Help

    It's the first time I see that bug mentionned in PSE11, but it's an acknowledged bug in PSE12.

  • [solved] Problem with ssd disk, deleted files don't free space?

    Hello.
    I bought some time ago an ssd disk on which i installed arch. After some free time I changed my laptop optical drive with standard hdd and moved /home and folder with data (mainly music collection) to standard drive. To my surprise my ssd was filled as it were before. My fstab from beginning have had TRIM option enabled:
    LABEL=root / ext4 rw,noatime,discard,commit=600,barrier=0 0 1
    tmpfs /var/log tmpfs defaults,size=5% 0 0
    tmpfs /var/spool tmpfs defaults,size=5% 0 0
    LABEL=karta /run/media/kaira/karta/ ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=0,commit=600,data=writeback 0 1

    LABEL=dane /dane/ ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=0,commit=600,data=writeback 0 1
    where the last three lines were added after second disk was installed.
    And now the great mystery for me:

    I executed also fstrim / command, but it changed nothing.
    Is this behavior normal, or maybe i didn't made something important/ my disk is damaged?

    Yes, I run this command as a root. I manage to repair this problem by mounting root partition in ubuntu live cd. I found folder which should get deleted, but it still was in filesystem. Unfortunetly I don't remeber, how i copy files. Propably i used rsync and forget to delete files. Now it's too late too check this theory, but I'm really happy with proper sizes:
    Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sdb1 118G 3.6G 113G 4% /
    devtmpfs 3.8G 0 3.8G 0% /dev

    tmpfs 3.8G 3.9M 3.8G 1% /run
    tmpfs 3.8G 0 3.8G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
    tmpfs 3.8G 356K 3.8G 1% /tmp
    tmpfs 389M 0 389M 0% /var/spool
    tmpfs 389M 32K 389M 1% /var/log
    /dev/sda2 410G 25G 381G 7% /dane
    Lesson learned - never manage important system changes after getting up, without enough sleep time.
    Thank you for you're help, and sorry for wasting time with my mistakes.

    If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else.
    There are several ways to back up a Mac that isn't fully working. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Problem In Deleting file

    When I call fileone.exists()
    It is returning true.
    But I am unable to delete file even after calling fileone.delete();
    There are some tabs in Swings. From deletion tab I am trying to delete. But I am unable to delete.
    I tried to delete the same file from a simple Java file I am able to delete it.
    Is there any lock preventing me from deleting the file ?
    Any help is appreciated.............

    As you can see in many threads, people talks about a bug in some JVM implementations preventing files to be deleted even if you have closed any stream related to it. I tried many times to delete files to no success until I read some posts advising to use the System.gc() method to destroy any object previously closed (but presumably still existing).
    I tried
    System.gc();
    for(File iterator: arrayOfFiles)
    iterator.delete();
    but the result I obtained wasn't totally satisfactory, because the first files from the array of files weren't delete while the last ones were. So I thought that maybe the problem is the garbage collector had no time to "act" before the first files were deleted. My (not quite elegant, but effective) solution was to introduce a delay of 500ms between the garbage collector request and the first delete statement. I know you have no warranty about the garbage collector acting when you ask it to, but... Anyway, this is my code:
    System.gc();
    Thread.sleep(500); // delay to allow the garbage collector to do its work before any deletion is attempted
    for(File iterator: arrayOfFiles)
    iterator.delete();
    As I could see, it works 100% the times I tested it.
    I don't know if this "solution" was mentioned before or not but, in either case, I hope this helps someone.

    Really having problems with organising documents in pages. For example, deleting pages deletes the whole section and I cannot insert a section break as its greyed out & sending an object to background deletes several pages and trying to insert a text box autmatically creates new pages- what the **** is going on??? Is this programme really this badly thought out? I thought everything apple was supposed to be intuitive!?!?!? Help.

    You can not insert a section break into a textbox.
    You appear to have a lot of objects with wrap set, that once you take them out of the flow of text (by sending them to the background) causes the text to reflow and contract into fewer pages. Pages is almost unique in the way it forms up pages in Word Processing mode only so long as there is text on them.
    I suspect you probably have hammered away at returns, spaces and tabs as well to position things, which only works to add to the mess.
    Download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf available under the Help menu and swot up a bit on how it works.
    You may find this a usueful resource as well:

    PS There is quite a lot of programming in OSX that is far from "intuitive". Pages is easy at one level, when using the templates, otherwise it can be quite frustrating.

  • Problem deleting files

    hi
    one week i'm trying to figure this problem out, and i'm quite desperate...
    i'm trying to delete files that i extracted from a ZIP archive. But i have an error message saying they can't be erased.

    How do I delete files on my iPod second gen?  This is a NEW problem I have only had with the latest version of iTunes.  I have not changed libraries.  All files are grayed out.  I have already read related posts in the iTunes community.

    Thanks but I had already read this, and it was no help at all.  Under the Summary tab, "Options", there is no check-box to manually manage my stuff.  I suspect this is because it is a 2nd gen iPod, with ONLY manual management.  The only way to delete my stuff seems to be to reset the entire device.
    I like to listen to podcasts.  What is particularly frustrating is that the 4th gen shuffle CANNOT play podcasts, but ONLY music, which I discovered after a lot of research and multiple visits to an Apple store.  So I have to resort to an older version of the shuffle to play podcasts  And now with the latest version of iTunes there seems to be no way to delete any podcasts on the older version.  Apple just makes it harder and harder for us podcast-lovers, driving us away from Apple -- driving me away from the entire brand and from ALL Apple devices, not just iPod.

  • Toshiba Gigastore 250 GB: Problems to delete files

    Dear all,
    I can't delete files from my Toshiba Gigastore anymore. Every time I try, the following message appears: "Cannot delete. Access denied. Source is probably still open".
    However, the files are not in use when I try to delete. I tried to delete after a reboot, and tried as admin. Nothing works.
    The problem started to occur after the Gigastore got disconnected from the computer (hot plugout).
    My OS is W2K SP4 (with the latest security updates). The GigaStore didn't run properly from the beginning, as it is not possible to disconnet the USB when the system is running (this problem is known and described in the user manual).
    Howe can I overcome the problem without reformatting the drive? Maybe it is possible to boot linux and delete files on the GigaStore? Is that advisable, as linux doesn't seem to go along well with NTFS?
    Many thanks in advance,

    Hello,
    many thanks for your advice. The issue is solved now.
    Going through your replies, I investigated why the files could not be deleted. I found that something happened with my user rights since the hot plugout: The system just 'took' the 'write' rights from existing files. However, I was able to read and execute existing files, and write _new_ files.
    A subsequent login as Admin with re-assignment of 'write' rights worked fine. (However, I am sure that I have tried this earlier, but it did not work at the time).
    Again, many thanks for your help. Best regards,

  • Deleting Files off NTFS HDD problem

    Good Day,
    I have installed paragon on the mac to read and write on NTFS drives.. however, i'm having touble deleting files off my usb drive... when i delete, it goes to trash... then when i try to empty trash, it does not empty fully...
    when i try to go to windows to delete the hidden .trash foler... it does not allow as well... please help

    This is a problem with NTFS and Windows.
    Basically OS X creates a lot of metadata for files/folders and is why the Finder works and looks the way it does.
    The problem is OS X being unix hides most of these files using the '.' prefix. While this has no implication on the file system itself ie. NTFS has no problem with such naming conventions, Windows does.
    There isn't a Windows API yet created that will allow for the creation of files with '.' prefixes. Basically if you are in a Windows environment, creating such files is impossible.
    So why is this problematic, Windows doesn't know what to do when it encounters such files and it spits the dummy.
    Paragon seems to be a similar implentation of the Windows API. You can forcefuly delete files on a Windows machine with the command line using some obscure -option when deleting.
    Why not try MacFUSE with NTFS-3G it works great... just don't try and use it for anything tasking like, video editing. NTFS running on MacFUSE just isn't efficient enough.
    Cheers,
    Hubert

  • Problem with Read-only user being able to add and delete files and folders.

    The setup:
    Computer #1
    iMac (intel) running 10.5.5
    File sharing ON
    Sharing folder on external USB drive called 'iTunes' (but not the drive volume itself)
    Users:
    - Everyone = Read Only
    - Admin(me) = Read/write
    - UserA = Read Only (with account PW and username identical to local login for computer below)
    Computer #2
    UserA's iBook G4 running 10.4.11
    When I go to finder>network>iMac>connect it prompts me to login which I do and then select 'iTunes' folder which is visible and mounts successfully. I can see all files, access them all. Life seems great. Then I discover that I can also modify and delete files from the iBook, and create and delete directories.
    I'm new to networking and although I've setup and managed minimal networking tasks on PCs before, this is my first foray into the Mac networking world. Please help.
    What am I doing wrong? What haven't I set?
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry, I should have clarified this in the first email.
    When I login from the iBook, I am logging in under a read-only user (not as myself, who is admin on the iMac). The user on the iBook has only been given read-only permissions on the iMac yet is able to add and delete files.
    This read-only login/PW however, is the admin account on the iBook, but that shouldn't allow this person to write on the iMac so far as I understand things...right?

  • Problem with deleting files !!

    I want to delete file, but for some extensions it is not possible, how can I delete all files?
    I use
    myFile.delete();

    How about the return value from your delete call, is it "true"? What happens when you try to delete the file via your OS? Why do you seem to think that this behavior is specific to certain file extensions? Which extensions are you having trouble with?
    Sorry for all the questions. Just as a guess, I think the most common reason for a delete call not to work on a Windows box is because the file is in use by some other program - an editor, or maybe a web server. Trying to delete the file via the OS might give you a better idea of why it's not deleting.
    good luck

  • Problems deleting files with OSX 10.8.3

    Since updating my 2009 MBP to 10.8.3 I am asked for the admin password to delete files.  The files disappear, but are not sent to the trash or clear space on the hard drive. Now my MBP is running out of space on the start up disk.

    Just researched the fix for this and applied this and it seems to work:
    1. Go to Terminal ( Make sure your set up as Admin)
    2. Type sudo chown yourname .Trash
    3. Enter your admin password
    You may get a no such directory message
    Seemed to fix the problem
