Delete from HD bypassing recycle bin

LR v1.1 & Vista.
Files deleted using LR's delete from HD are not being placed in the recycle bin but instead disappearing completely? Is this the designed behavior?
If so, I don't find this to be desirable.
If it isn't the designed behavior is it a bug?

>>Are you sure you told Lightroom to remove the files as apposed to simply taking them out of the cataloge?
Yes.
>>Can you check in the folders where they started and confirm they aren't there?
They are not located in the original folder on the HD.
Update: Go figure, after asking for help it I managed to find the files in the recycle bin. Honestly, I didn't find them there yesterday. Oh well. Thanks for the help.
**However**, while I have your ear... :)
Empty folders that are deleted in LR are not actually deleted from the HD--only from the catalog. Is this the designed behavior? If so, is there a way to change it?

  • My recycle bin isn't working, files are "permanently deleted" bypassing recycle bin

Hi... I have a Dell Laptop which is running Windows 7. Whenever i try to delete something, the dialogue box asks "would you like to permanently delete this file?" and seems to totally bypass the recycle bin.
I tried right clicking the recycle bin icon to change properties. The options for "Custom size" and "Don't move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted" are UNCHECKED but are also both greyed out and cannot be changed!
"Display delete confirmation dialog" is not grayed out, and is checked.
I tried to fix the Recycle bin settings from command prompt by running : rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin. It didnt help
I am deleting files from the local drive.
    I have tried creating a
new user account but the issue was not fixed. The laptop is in a domain. The above issue doesn't occur in safe mode. I tried to find out if a service or startup item is causing this but was not able to locate any. I have ran SFC scannow
    and checkdisk, it didn't help.
There is no group policy which is affecting this.
Is there any fix for this issue??

Check for a key called "NoRecycleFiles" in
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
If present, try setting the value to 0. Alternatively, delete it.

  • How can I send deleted emails to the recycle bin vs just deleting them with my eamail system?

I have a program that when I empty the recycle bin, it also wipes the allocated space to delete the files totally from the hard cleans the hard disk and gives me space. Space that I need. I get a lot of emails that are large. I don't know if deleting them with "yahoo" opens up space. But using this program with items in the recycle bin will. I have Windows 7 on one computer and windows xp on the other. I need to clean up both computers the best I can so there is space for me to install other items that are rather large sized. Please help. Thank you.

Are you talking about files from webmail? If you clear the browser cache, does that not free up some space?

  • Can you recover iteam from an emptied recycle bin

Hi, I emptied my recycle bin this morning, but I forgot about some pictures i needed to restore. I would really love to get those pictures back. Its 6.4Gigs of my latest work. Is there a possibility of getting those pictures back. I will really appriciate to get those pictures back. Thanks
    Solved!

Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!
    I came across this.

  • How to restore a site deleted from SharePoint Designer 2010

    Hi All,
I have opened a test server site in share point designer 2010, & deleted that particular site in SP designer 2010,can anyone let me know how to restore the site by using SharePoint Designer?
I followed below mentioned procedure to restore the site using SharePoint Designer
Open SharePoint Designer, File tab, Sites under File Tab, Open site, specified the URL of site,opened..
It is getting connected to the Organisation network & showing "path does not exist, check the path and try again".
Whether, Is it possible to restore the site deleted from share point designer in site collection recycle bin. or
Is it possible to copy the site from Production server to test server.
Waiting for an response at the earlier.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Badri

    Hi Badri,
1.You could not restore site deleted from SharePoint designer in site collection, you can only restore the site deleted from
UI in site collection recycle bin, deleted from end user recycle bin.
2.You can export the site from production server, then import it to test server.

  • Items not moved to Second Stage Recycle Bin

    Hello,
Trying to do some digging into SharePoint 2010 Recycle Bin.
I've noticed that although items, when deleted, are being moved to the First Stage Recycle Bin, if they are deleted from that location they do not seem to be moved into the Second Stage Recycle Bin.
I think I am correct in saying that in order for items to be purged from any recycle bins or moved from First Stage to Second Stage the Recycle Bin Timer Job needs to run for that particular Site Collection.
Although I have manually run this job, and it returns a success message, the items still don't appear in the 2nd Stage Recycle Bin.
What I have noticed though is when I run this Timer Job it only reports as running on the Application Server and then twice on one of the Web Servers. The other Web Server isn't mentioned in the Time Job History at all. I'm not sure whether this is the key
to this issue but would appreciate any advice...........

Solved it! And the answer is pretty stupid.
Basically when you browse to the Second Stage Recycle Bin you go to a URL ending in
    /_layouts/AdminRecycleBin.aspx
This is actually the "roll up" view of the First Stage Recycle Bin. If you have the left hand navigation enabled it's listed as "End user Recycle Bin items"
If you change the URL to:
    /_layouts/AdminRecycleBin.aspx?View=2
Then this is the Second Stage Recycle bin. Again if you have the left hand navigation enabled it's listed as "Deleted from end user Recycle Bin"
Because the template I had applied to this site has removed the left hand navigation I didn't realise which bin I was really looking at. Once I had amended the URL all the items were there in the Second Stage Bin.
I'm still a little confused about the Recycle Bin Timer Job as this seems to run on different servers in the farm depending on which Web Application's Time Job you are running.
Hope all my testing helps someone!

  • I accidentally deleted a song and it's in the recycle bin.  How do I get it back in my music library?

I have a deleted song in the recycle bin that I'd like to restore to my  iTunes library.  How do I  do this?  Thanks for the help.

Its worth adding that if you deleted the song using iTunes, you will need to add the track to your library with File>>Add file to library" after restoring it from the recycle bin.

  • Files deleted permanently, not showing up in Recycle Bin

Good day. We have quite an interesting problem at my workplace. Few computers started showing this symptoms, files are not deleted to recycle bin, but instead deleted permanently. I'll try to detail the problem as much as possible and include all the solutions
I've (and my colleagues) tried so far:
Recycle bin properties are not the problem. We have a Domain structure and there is a policy that user's desktop files are stored on the D disk instead of System C. When I try to delete a file from the user's folder (Start Menu > User), files is deleted
appropriately, to the recycle bin, from any other location it's deleted permanently. When I log in with my username, everything works fine (probably because our (IT Support) policy does not store desktop files on D drive). I've tried the "RD /S
/Q C:\$Recycle.bin" command on both C and D drives and it did not help. When a file is deleted from user's folder, for some reason it's stored on both C and D drive recycle bin folders. There
is no Malware/Malicious Software/Viruses on these computers.
This is the most information I can provide for now. If any further details are needed, please specify them.
    Thank you in advance

No, files/folders are not huge at all.
$Recycle.Bin does indeed exist on D drive, but running RD
    /S /Q C:\$Recycle.bin command
on D drive deletes $Recycle.Bin folder but it does not come back like on C drive. I really
doubt malware is the cause, I scanned few PC-s with Malware Bytes and some other programs too and they did not return any results.
Our administrators found out that deleting the partition D and then creating it solves the problem, but that'ss impossible to do on all the computers, because there
is quite a lot of them to say the least.  Could there be any workaround other than deleting partition?

  • Reset ALL Default Settings - Specifically Delete to Recycle Bin

Good Day. When deleting music from my library I also want to delete it to the recycle bin but unfortunately I checked the box to not show & not move to recycle bin when deleting from library.
How do I fix this? Tks...//jmc

you can reset all your preferences to their defaults by rebuilding both sets of preferences files on the PC.
for instructions on Vista, see the "Remove iTunes Preference files" section from this document:
iTunes for Windows Vista: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
(in your situation, try moving both sets of preference files out of their default locations before relaunching itunes.)

  • Recycle Bin keeps getting corrupted

    Hi Everyone,
Like many other threads here we are experiencing that the Recycle Bin is getting corrupted. We've already tried the basic troubleshooting like remove the Recycle Bin and disabling the Recycle Bin. However every reboot or at a point in time the Recycle Bin
gets corrupted again. Let me tell you something more about the environment to give a better view on the problem.
The problem is occuring on a Windows Server 2008 R2 which has been virtualized on a Hyper-V host which is a Windows Server 2012 R2. The VM exists of two VHDs (not VHDX). One for the OS (which is set as a IDE Device) and one for the DATA (which is set on
a SCSI Adapter). Both disk have the Recycle Bin enabled, but the corruption problem only occurs of DATA (F:\) disk.
We've tried the following approaches for a solution, however with no luck:
    Run the command:    rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin
Configured the Recycle Bin to directly delete files on F:\ (bypass Recycle Bin)
Executed a CHKDSK /f /r (online and offline [VHD mounted in OS of the Hyper-V Host]
Executed a SFC /scannow on the OS
And since all of that didn't give a solution, we've decided to copy all the data from the DATA VHD, except the SYSVOL and Recycle Bin folder to a brand new VHD. Set the NTFS as needed. Rebooted, worked for a day, same problem got back.
So after that we thought it has to be a process/software/service which triggered a delete and gets the Recycle Bin corrupted. So we started ProcMon to give us more insight. But this seemed a bad idea because we can't tell when or reproduce the problem so
    ProcMon generates to much information.
Now before I'm going any further on troubleshooting, I was wondering if there is anyone out there who experienced the (exact) same problem. Or someone that can give a push in the right direction.
Thanks for reading and many thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Joey
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

    Hi Joey,

You may run the command "rd /s /q Drive-Letter:\$Recycle.bin " , in your case the issue happens to F:\ then the command is "rd /s /q F:\$Recycle.bin "

  • File icon stuck behind recycle bin

Somehow a photo file got "stuck" BEHIND the recycle bin icon in my toolbar. No matter what I do, I can't seem to click and drag the file out from behind the recycle bin icon to then throw it INTO the recycle bin. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's been just sitting behind it for months now and I am too dumb to figure out how to deal with it (former PC user and soon to be exclusively PC user)

Hi morrisgal and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Either go to the Apple menu>Dock>Turn Hiding On or just hit the cmdaltD keys. Once the Dock is out of the way drag your file further onto the desktop, hit cmdaltD again and you Dock will reappear.
Another way would be to open a Finder window, navigate to Desktop within Finder, identify the file and drag it to the Trash from there or ctrl click>Move to Trash.
Don't be too hasty in becoming an exclusive PC user, I ditched PCs many years ago after staying up all night trying to disinfect my PC laptop from a virus, and yes, I did have AV software. It got infected before a fix had been released.
I've never regretted the move and leaving aside the virus issue I much prefer the Mac interface as well as the hardware. 'Here' is a wonderful community of fellow Mac users most of whom will go out of their way to help, just for the satisfaction.
    Whatever you decide, good luck!

  • Delete songs from itunes library, no option to keep file or move to recycle bin

    iTunes Version 11.0.1.12
I just finished moving my library to a different drive and all seemed to be fine until I started cleaning out some duplicate songs.  When I delete a song from the library, it does not ask if you want to keep the file or move to the recycle bin.  Only 1 window comes up asking - Are you sure you want to delete the selected song?.....and there are only 2 choices - Delete Song or Cancel.  "Do not ask me again" still shows in the window with the box.
In Preferences under Advanced, the path shows  - G:\iTunes\iTunes Media\iTunes Music.
I checked for other references to this but could not locate.
Would certainly appreciate some help - thanks

I have this question too - Help tells me option is there but it's not

Therefore, t there any way to just completely delete all the old backup data out of my Time Capsule from my prior Mac Laptop?
Here is how to do this:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click the Disks icon at the top of the AirPort Utility window
Click the Disks tab below the icons
    Click Erase
The "Quick Erase" option will only take a moment or two
Now you can backup your MacBook Pro. If you connect an Ethernet cable from the MBP to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC, the first backup will go 3-5 times faster than wireless.
Once you have the first backup done, you can use wireless for subsequent backups since they will only take a few minutes
