How do you delete a group from Contacts?

Thank you John.

I just posted this fix to another thread and thought it might be useful to post to all of the threads I read trying to fix the problem. Here it is:
Having the same issue over here with Mavericks 10.9.1 on a new Macbook Pro/Retina. Just now found a workaround/fix/whatever:
    - click on your group in the group pane of the address panel
    - click anywhere in the name pane and select all (command + a)
    - click the "To:" or "Cc:" or "Bcc:" tab right above the group pane at the top of the address panel window.
The names of all of the individuals in the group will appear as an expanded list in whatever field you clicked. It takes a second or two to happen.

  • Mail filling in groups from Contacts

There is a problem with Mail filling in groups from Contacts in a way which didn't happen to me before Mavericks.
When I now type in the first letter(s), Mail tries to auto complete, but when I have the right group in the "to" bar and press the enter-key the name disappears.
When I type too fast for mail auto complete to keep up (already typed the whole group name) and press enter, nothing happens, the name of the group isn't replaced by the people belonging to that group.. The cursor just keeps blinking berhing the group name.
I take it this is a bug, not by design...
Already filed a bug report at apple.com/feedback

The app Mail2Group, both paid and lite, makes it easer to mail to groups. There is no other good workaround except to copy addresses to a master group list/document and copy and paste.

  • How to delete "group" from phone contact info?

I used my Mom's computer to update my iPhone. Unfortunately, it added all her address book phone contacts to my phone book. I deleted all her contacts, but it won't let me delete her "groups" from the group list--even though the groups are "empty." Any way to delete her groups from my iPhone?

I wouldn't have been condescending had you included that you no longer have your own computer with your original post or with your reply to my post and thanked me for replying and trying to help. Those that answer questions and offer suggestions here volunteer their time to do so. Not only did you not thank me for trying to help - someone should have manners when being helped regardless if the helper is being paid to do so but even more so when the helper volunteers their time, you didn't even read what I provided very carefully. Bad enough not having any manners when asking for help, but you should at least read what is provided somewhat carefully.
That being said, I'm not wanting to make you feel stupid. I appreciate at least minimal manners and a thanks on your part. Please don't answer if you are going to be completely mannerless with someone who is volunteering their time to help you.
Now I have a new issue...is there any way to recover my missing/deleted contact information?
Since you synced your contacts with your Mom's Address Book, your iPhone contacts should be available in your Mom's Address Book and your Mom's contacts and Address Book Groups should be available on your iPhone.
    Is this not the case?
Were your iPhone contacts replaced/deleted with your Mom's Address Book contacts?

  • Deleting a Smart Group from Contacts Problem

I upgraded to Mavericks this week, and have run into a problem where I can't delete a SmartGroup from Contacts. I highlight the group, hit the delete key, confirm that I want to delete the group, but nothing happens. There are also a couple of Smart Groups that crash Ad

No joy. I tried this, and then also deleting that file plus AddressBook-v22.abcddb-shm, AddressBook-v22.abcddb-wal, and the various .abcdg files in Metadata. Once I launch AddressBook, all the Smart Groups are back, and new files are populated in Metadata.
What finally "solved" the problem is to go to my previous laptop, delete *all* groups, smart or otherwise, and export the contacts. I copied that export to the new computer, imported it, and so far all seems well. I'll recreate some of the groups, which is a bit of a pain, but at least Contacts seems to not crash now.

  • IPhone contacts - Delete group from iphone?

How do i get rid of contact groups from the iPhone (this one is named "Group Name"), that i deleted in address book?
This stems from a sync bug. When i created a group in address book named "Family", it showed up on my phone as "Group Name" with no contacts inside. I had to rename "Family" to "Familyy" and create a new group named "Family". I then dragged the contacts into it and deleted "Familyy". I still have that dead group named "Group Name" on my iPhone.
How do i delete the group from my iPhone? It doesn't exist in address book.

So should i assume that once something is on my phone, its there forever?
No, but as you provided with your original post, you are attributing this to a sync bug and if a bug, you must do something different from the norm to resolve it.
If you are syncing all Address Book Groups, not select Groups, all Address Book Groups should be available on your iPhone and be identical to the Groups in the Address Book on your Mac and should be kept synchronized. Something went wrong, due to a sync bug or due to something else.
How do i take something off?
If there is an address book group on your iPhone which is not available with the Address Book on your Mac, it should be removed via the iTunes sync process. If not, the instructions I provided should resolve it. If you are syncing direct with the Address Book on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, and Contacts is not available to select under the Advanced section below the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences for replace this info on your iPhone, something else is wrong.

  • Eliminating a Group from Contacts

How do I eliminate a group from my contacts?

Sorry, Patrick. I wrote that without checking, trusting my memory.
Select the Group you want to delete in the left hand window, pull down on Edit, and select Delete Group.
That will not delete the entries in that group. If you want to delete all members of a group and the group itself, first select all of the entries in the group and delete them. (Edit, Delete Card.)

  • I have a contact I no longer use and have deleted it from Contacts on my iMac and iPad, but it still keeps appearing in the To: box when I enter a similar contac, obote the iMac and iPad. How do I completely delete it to prevent this from happening? Thank

I have a email address I no longer use and want, so have deleted it from my address book on my iMac and iPad. It kept reappearing when I started to type a similar email address, so I was advised to delete it by going to Mail on the iMac...  Mail > Window > Previous Recipients... and Delete from there... which worked, and it now no longer appears in the To: box when typing a similar email address in Mail on my iMac.
However, even though I have deleted the same contact/email address on my iPad, it still appears when typing a similar email address in Mail on the iPad. How do I perform a similar action as I did on my iMac, to prevent it from reappearing?
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks, Simon.
    On the iMac..

The only way that I currently know of to remove old and invalid email addresses on the iPad is to restore back to factory defaults, which I assume that you won't want to do. You could try leaving feedback for Apple, and maybe in a future update we'll be able to edit them : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Is it possible to export a Group from Contacts to a spreadsheet? I have Version 8.0 (1371.2) on my Mac

How can I export a Group in Contacts to an Excel spreadsheet ? I've tried to follow the instructions but am going in circles:  I opened the Group, then 'selected" all contacts in the Group, then chose File>Export>Export vCard. Saved it to Desktop, but when I open the file from desktop, it appears that I'm Importing them to Contacts.... I just want a spreadsheet that I can import into Constant Contact.

    It's not possible.

  • Is your Mail extremely slow trying to send to a "group" from Contacts?

I can't believe how long this is taking to just add a couple groups from my Contacts into the To: area of a message in Mail.  I've never had this problem with my older 10.6.8 OS.  There are about 150 addresses in one group and less than 10 in another, yet, once I type in the group name, everything slows down to a snails pace in Mail and I can't type one letter without having the beachball of death start spinning.  This is ridiculous!  Is anyone else having these kinds of problems?  Generally Mail in Mavericks has been working well for me - the amount of spam has decreased tremendously, but this new issue is a big problem!
    Thanks for any insight,
    kt

I am climbing the walls with this.
I have to type the text of the mail, then insert the group.
Forgot about changing anything later or adding a second group.
It takes several minutes to change one character.
Activity Monitorshows "Mail (Not Responding)", CPU running 99.9%

  • Email group from Contacts

This may be a silly question, but does anyone know how to send an email to a Group from your Contacts?  Can't seem to figure it out in Mavericks.

But why should we have to type?  Previously you could just intuitively drag the group name to the "To" field and it would populate it.
That implies that you have both Contacts and Mail open. When you type the group name in Mail's TO field it pops up into a list within the first couple of entered letters, and then you just make your selection. Contacts doesn't have to be open.

..... But it does not work that way in the mail app on the iPad. There are third party apps that will let you email to contact groups - but not the built in Mail App.
Look at Group Email in the App Store.
