Delete infoobject from Infosource

Hi,
I would like to delete an infoobject from the infosource 0vendor.
In the comm. structure I see that the icon to "delete row" is grayed out.
How can I delete?

Hi,
Go to change mode then all the lines will be in white
then select the entire row
and there will be a -(minus) button delete as u required.
Note> if it is standard it is not good practice to disturb the 0vendor that object may used in different places.
u see that functionality based on that u should take the decisuion.

Deleting infoobjects from Dimension in Cube

Hi All,
I am trying to delete infoobjects from a dimension in a cube. My constraint is that I cannot delete all the data in the cube. This dimension is a new dimension which I had created 1 month ago. So, I deleted all the requests which I had loaded after creating this new dimension, so that this Dimension table gets emptied. I have also adjusted the dimension from RSRV. The dimension table is now empty. Still, I am not able to delete the infoobjects from this dimension or delete the dimension altogether.
Any pointers to this will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
I had thought about remodelling. I can do it in Dev and make the changes, and transport them to Q. The constraint is that in Q there are 2.8 million records and I don't want to delete the data in Q. In case the transport fails, I cannot use remodelling in Q (to do this we will have to open up the system; not recommended).
I can selectively delete only those requests which contained data in the new dimension. But I think the same issue will occur as in Dev currently (even if the dimension table is empty, deleting a dimension is not allowed).

How to remove existing infoobject from infosource?

I was added one infoobject Z01 into DSO ZDSO01 and Infosource 2LIS_08TRTLP
, and did mapping in the transfer rule. Now I removed Z01 from DSO ZDSO01, but I'm unable to remove Z01 from infosource.
System show me error message like:
The InfoObject ZO01 is still used in the following places: In routine xxxxxxxxxxx of the update rules for Data Target ZDSO01 InfoSource 2LIS_08TRTLP
Anyone know how to remove Z01 from DSO ZDSO01 in my case.

Hi,
I tried replicating your scenario and got the same error like you. I guess you did not follow the below mentioned steps in sequence.
1) Delete the infoobject from DSO and activate it. This would put your update rules in revised status.
2) Reactivate your update rules.(if you dont perform this step, system automatically compares with the last activated update rule, where your infoobject was used, therefore it gives the error)
3)Remove the transfer rule for this infoobject.
4) Delete the infoobject from communication structure.
This should work.

Delete infoobject from an infocube with data

I have just added an infoobject to an infocube which has data. Now, I need to delete that infoobject and I think that if the infocube has data I couldnt delete the infoobject.
How can I delete the infoobject without removing the data?

Hi David,
deleting an infoObject from an database table is everytime difficult. The correct solution depends on different requirements:
How many datasets are in the infocube - how large is the cube.
Can you reload the data from a source or an DSO
Does your release support remodeling.
The best solution would be - delete the data, transport your change of datamodel to prod system and reload the data. The second solution could be: create an copy of the actual infocube, load the the data from the original cube to copy, delete the data from original cube, transport your changes to prod system, load the data from copy to "new"original cube, delete the copy.
You can also try to use the remodeling function. But there is no guarantee that this will work correct. We made some good and some bad experiences with this tool.

Take an approval to open the production system. While you delete the infoobject , it will ask for transport request to save under.

Unable to Delete the InfoObjects from Communication Structure..

Hi all,
I want to delete the extra InfoObjects from the Communication Structure for 0VENDOR. I am in InfoSources section of RSA1 and double clicked on 0VENDOR InfoSource and 'InfoSource 0VENDOR Change' screen is displayed, but 'Insert New Row' (button with + sign) and 'Delete Selected Rows' (button with - sign) are in GRAY. Since it is in GRAY, we can not make any modifications to it. The Source System is R/3 Dev.
When I expand 'Transfer_Structure/Transfer_Rules' below the Communication Structure the Source System points to PC file. Next, I have changed the Source System to R/3 Dev and DataSource to 0VENDOR_ATTR and still unable to make modifications to Communication Structure.
What is wrong with it? How can I make deletions, PLEASE?

I am in BW Dev box and checked other InfoSources with R/3 Dev as SourceSystem and buttons are in GRAY only.
There is 0VENDOR_ATTR InfoSource with different SourceSystem assignment (R/3 QA Box) and the buttons are not in GRAY. It means I could make modifications to this Communication Structure.
Why I am not able to make modifications to 0VENDOR Comm. Structure, PLEASE?
Note: I have started installing the Business Content for Project Systems 0PROJECT_ATTR and stopped that transaction in the middle of the process on Friday. Is it caused some damage?

Deleting data from a cube

Hi,
I added a info object to a dimension in a cube. now i want to delete the info object from the cube. But since the cube has data in it, i cannot do it unless i delete all the data from the cube. When i select 'delete data', i'm given 2 options, delete fact table only and 2nd option delete fact table and dimension table. what is the difference between the two and what option should i select.
i then need to load the cube back from ODS. the cude right now is setup in the proce4ss chain to do a delta load every day. would this be affected after i delete the data and load it again from the ODS?

The way I understand your question is...
1) You have data in the cube from which you have to remove an infoobject
Ans: To acheive this, you have to delete the data from the cube
2) You have deleted the data and then deleted the IO, activated the cube and the update rules from the ODS which feeds this cube
3) Now you have to reload the deleted data from the ODS. But you already did an init and you are loading delta's from this ODS to the cube through process chain.
Ans: As you've already deleted the whole data from the cube, do a full load from the ODS (you can do this even when delta initialization is done) to your cube by creating a new infopackage under the export datasource of the ODS. This will capture all the records from the ODS. Then to be on the safe side so as not to load any duplicate records...go the infopackage that you've used to do the full load (you can even create a new Info package)...SCHEDULER -> Initilization options for source system -> Delete the existing INIT -> Then do Init again...
Leave the delta infopackage as is and let the process chain take care of the deltas from now on...

Unable to find the timestamp in SPRO-"delete timestamp for infosource"

in system BIT.
issue: unable to find the timestamp in SPRO-"delete timestamp for infosource" in ECQ, for a load which i did in BIQ and getting error that init was already done but request was deleted from target.
for cube 0CFM_C10, i did init load from 0CFM_POSITIONS flow , was fine
next init load from flow 0CFM_DELTA_POSITIONS, some issue,
got messaget that init was already done but request was deleted from target.
so i deleted req from infopkg-scheduler-init options for src system - here deleted the req.
did load got same error again.
next in ECQ, SPRO- "delete timestamp for infosource", for this option when i search, i am getting msg that "0 timestamps deleted for infosource".
why is that i am unable to find the timestamp here in SPRO in ECQ? any other solution ?

did the load ,
init load via 0CFM_DELTA_POSITIONS flow, successful :   so that error got solved.
delta load via 0CFM_DELTA_POSITIONS flow, getting another new error and message below

Increasing the length of Infoobject from 60 to 240 characters

Hi...
I want to increase the length of the infoobject from 60 to 240 characters, because that particular field in R/3 has texts with length 200 characters.
I want to create 4 infoobjects each of length 60, breakup the texts coming from R/3, in transfer rules, by writing the transfer routine for each infoobject stating, first 60 char of the r/3 field into the first infoobject and so on.
Did anyone write such routine? If so, can u provide me with the code?

Hi Sai,
I usually prepare data before load cutting long texts into parts (in case of flat files I use Access for it, for DB Connect create a view).
But for future usage it would be usefull to do it in a routine.
The task seemed to be very easy, but some important nuances have appeared.
Note: I always prefer to keep parts of the long description in the long texts of separate chars. The reasons for this: Possibility to use time-dependent texts and texts with lowercase letters without problems with SIDs.
So, I use one main object with child objects (which keep parts of the text) as attributes. The long text of the main object keeps the first 60 (or 59) symbols of the long description. In this case I create either main or child IOs not as CHAR 60, but as another type depending on the key field of the incoming description (for example, for a material description it may be its code). In the codes below I use 0ADDR_LINE1 - 0ADDR_LINE4 standard IOs for description parts in order not to create 4 objects of CHAR 60 which I will not use.
So, here is a result.
For simplicity I assume that I have only 4 IOs like 0ADDR_LINEx and one IO as a main char.
1. Case of load from flat files
- Create a flexible infosource.
- Put there the main char and 0ADDR_LINE1, 0ADDR_LINE2, 0ADDR_LINE3, 0ADDR_LINE4.
- After assigning a source system the transfer structure is created automatically.
- Since in the comm structure (which the system uses as a template for creation TS and TRs) the 0ADDR_LINE1 char has a length 60, we need to increase the length of this object upto 240 symbols in the TS.
- Main char and 0ADDR_LINE1 wil have 1:1 mapping in transfer rules.
- Mapping of the other chars depends on type of routine we use
- In case of a start routine, all other chars are to be mapped as 1:1 also. Its important, because in the start routine (which works BEFORE the work of routines for particular chars) we create values for them and 1:1 mapping is placed these values into IOs. If these IOs are not mapped, then regardless of existing data for them in the data package, theyll not be updated at all.
The start routine code:
FIELD-SYMBOLS <fs> TYPE TRANSFER_STRUCTURE.
LOOP AT DATAPAK ASSIGNING <fs>.
<fs>-ADDR_LINE2 = <fs>-ADDR_LINE1+60(60).
<fs>-ADDR_LINE3 = <fs>-ADDR_LINE1+120(60).
<fs>-ADDR_LINE4 = <fs>-ADDR_LINE1+180(60).
MODIFY DATAPAK FROM <fs>.
ENDLOOP.
* abort <> 0 means skip whole data package !!!
ABORT = 0.
As an alternative its possible to create routines for ADDR_LINE2, ADDR_LINE3 and ADDR_LINE4.
The code is very simple:
RESULT = TRAN_STRUCTURE-ADDR_LINE1+180(60).
* returncode <> 0 means skip this record
RETURNCODE = 0.
* abort <> 0 means skip whole data package !!!
ABORT = 0.
This is for ADDR_LINE4. For the other IOs the offset will be 60 and 120.
2. Case of loading from R/3 or 3rd parties systems.
Routines for ADDR_LINE2, ADDR_LINE3 and ADDR_LINE4 is a straightforward solution. In case of a start routine, the source system should supply besides the long description 3 additional dummy fields with length 60. And mapping will be 1:1 for all fields.
The rest is simple inserting main and child IOs as data targets, creating update rules for them with proper mapping to incoming from a comm structure ADDR_LINEx values. Value of main IO should be set as a key field for all IOs.

Load from InfoSource 0EMPLOYEE failed

Hi all,
My source data contains some special characters in field TRFKZ.I maintained special characters using RSKC.
Now when I load data uptill PSA it gets uploaded.but when i try to upload it to the infoobject level,it gets failed.
The monitor message suggests Load from InfoSource 0EMPLOYEE failed.
Please BI Experts,help me to understand the neccessary steps to be taken from my side.

Click on the long text or question mark box next to error logs. It will give you the particular record and character for which it is failing.
Once you get the record go to PSA and check the data in PSA. Sometimes PSA doesnt show all the special chartacters , you need to go to SE11 , enter the PSA table name , go to your record and change the display settings to "SE16 Standard list" From Diaply --> User Settings.
HAve experienced few characters which are not resolved by RSKC hence have to write a routine to fix them or ask ECC team to fix the data.

Deleting Keyfield from DSO

I have created a DSO with some key field selections now i want to delete one of the key field from the list. But when i drag it back i don't get any opetion to remove it from the list. I need to remove that field to load the data into this DSO. Can any one please help me how to remove this field.

I want to see data in BW Statistics: Deleting Data from InfoCubes.
I am working on BI 7.
I have set the infoprovider in Tcode RSDDSTAT.Marked 2 Infocube statistics ( X) and OLAP(2).
Already activated the BI Statistics.
I am deleting data from one of the cube . But when I go to cube 0BWTC_C11(BW Statistics: Deleting Data from InfoCubes)
It is not showing any data .
I can't see any data in RSDDSTATDELE table also
Do I need to do any other setting ? Am I missing any steps?
I need to dislay the log for deleted request /deleted data ?
I need to display the log for deleted infoobject/infopackage also? Where can i get this ?

I can not able to see in the report also . I have tried 0BWTC_C10/0BWTC_C10_Q251 to 254.
Whenever I am doing to delete it individullay it goes to table SDDSTATDELE .But whenever I am deleting whole data from cube or request ID it is not updating table RSDDSTATDELE.( which is further used to get data )
I got this from SAP help .
The characteristic can have the following characteristic values C,N,D and T:
C (Choose): The system automatically chooses the best delete mode. This is N or D.
N (Create New): If over 10% of an InfoCubes data records are to be deleted, the system replaces the InfoCube fact table with a table with data records that are not to be deleted.
If you want to delete more than 10% of the records, the system creates a new table, copies the data records you want to keep to the new table, deletes the old table and then renames the new table.
D (Delete): If you want to delete less than 10% of the data records, the system deletes these individual records directly from the InfoCube fact table.
T (Truncate): If you want to delete all data records, the system deletes all data records from the tables, but retains the tables in the database.
So how to see these records? I am doing full upload to cube 0BWTC_C11(BW Statistics: Deleting Data from InfoCubes).
Before this do I need to extract data for other CUBE also.

0PROCESSKEY is not mapped from InfoSource

Hi,
I see that there are InfoObjects 0BWAPPLNM and 0PROCESSKEY are there from the InfoSource. I see that BWAPPLNM is mapped 0BWAPPLNM but BWVORG is not mapped to anything at all on the BW system.
When I ran RSA3 to see the values for BWAPPLNM and BWVORG from R3, I see the values SD for BWAPPLNM and 101 for BWVORG. However, the data going to BW is transferred but not added to the IC.
Would I have to map BWVORG to some InfoObject from BW side to make this adding records to IC to work?
