"Delete Keyword" reports nonexistent photos

iPhoto 7.1.1 ('08). Cmd-K, select Edit Keywords, select Movie, hit Minus to delete. iPhoto says 4 photos will have the keyword removed. That's strange, I don't know of any Movie photos. So I did a Search for keyword Movie: zero. I did a Smart Album of Keyword Is Movie: zero. (For what it's worth, I have no hidden photos anywhere in my library.)
I exited iPhoto, restarted with Cmd-Option, rebuilt library with every possible thing checked off. Still get the mismatch in quantity of Movie keywords between Delete and Search/Smart.
So why does Delete Keyword think there are 4 Movie keywords when there are none? or alternatively, if there really are 4 such photos, how do I find them?

Thanks for the reply, Terence Devlin. I'm still not sure what it all means.
When you import a Movie, the keyword is applied to it automatically.
Understood. In the past, I have imported a movie or two by mistake (occasionally I accidentally bump the control on my camera that puts it into movie mode). But I deleted those movies; or at least, all the ones I could find.
The photos referred to may simply be a typo referring to the Movies themselves.
I'm sorry, I am not able to figure out what you mean by this sentence. Perhaps you could try rephrasing it? "Typo" means a mistake in data entry (a mistyping) but there was no data entry involved here (I never manually assigned the keyword "Movie" to anything). Rather than an error in data entry, do you perhaps mean a mistake made by iPhoto? That would be a "defect" (or "bug" to use the programmer's euphemism) rather than a "typo." Or do you mean something else.
Do you have movies in the Library?
As I said in my original post, not to my knowledge. If I am to believe iPhoto's keyword-search function or its Smart-album-creation function, then I am correct that there are no movies. But if I am to believe iPhoto's delete-keyword function, then there are a few movies--but how the heck can I find them if neither keyword-search nor Smart-album-creation will identify them?

  • LR2-How delete keyword tags

In LR 1.4, I was able to delete keywords from multiple photos by:
    1. Highlighting the photos
    2. Deleting the targeted keywords from the keyword tags panel.
This is consistent in the LR2 help files: "With photos selected in the Grid view or the Filmstrip, do any of the following: To remove keyword tags from photos, select one or more keyword tags in the Keyword Tags area of the Keywording panel and delete them."
However, this does not work in LR2 on my Vista machine. I can delete keywords from individual photos but if more than on photo is highlighted, the keyword is removed from the first file only. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Thanks in advance, dave

You must be doing it in something other than the grid view. If so, then the this behavior is correct.

  • Delete same keyword across multiple photos?

    Greetings,
I have a single keyword that I want to delete across hundreds of photos. Is there any way to do this? I have tried to select a handful of them, go to metadata > keyword, but it only shows the largely highlighted single photo.
The photos have many different keywords, so I can't copy and paste stamp, I really need to target this specific keyword and delete it from them all.
Does this make sense? Is there no way to do this Aperture?
    -i

Select images, Type in the Keyword you WANT to delete in the Add Keyword field at the bottom of the window (next to the keyword buttons) then - Shift-Apple + Return to Delete that word.

  • Can I restore deleted keywords in Bridge CS5?

I accidentally deleted a long string of keywords in Bridge and I don't even remember what they all were. Any way to get them back?

Not that I know of.  HOWEVER, if you did not delete the keywords on the photos, when you visit a folder with those deleted keywords it will write them back to the list.  If they are itacalized, they are temporary, or right click on them and choose persistent.
The filter tab should show you what keywords are the current folder.

  • Delete Keywords in Bridge? Re-import into Lightroom?

When I started trying Lightroom three weeks ago, I imported a few folders to learn with and created a keyword hierarchy.
Then when I imported all my photos, the keywords assigned in Bridge came along for the ride, giving me something to do with my time straighten it back to the structure I had created.
I use Bridge for renaming. Renaming my photos with the date first is a priority right now to help straighten out a mess of scanned photos not organized by date. It's been a slow process but necessary and I find it much easier to do in Bridge.
So now I know renaming files outside of Lightroom creates a problem. What will happen if I get rid of my Lightroom catalog; delete all keywords in Bridge (not a problem since I'm right now working in folders for renaming and can easily delete all keywords in the folder); then import all the renamed files into a new catalog in Lightroom.
Will the files keep the keywords written to them before in Lightroom even though I deleted keywords in Bridge? Or will I be deleting all keywords and have to start assigning them all over?
Hope this makes sense, I'm afraid to do anything right now!
    Peggy

    Peggy,
I think that if you are creating a new Ligtroom catalog, and importing your photos, that they will reflect what you have done in Bridge.
But, to confirm that, I would suggest that you do a small test first:
Start Lightroom, create a new catalog, import say 5 photos and see what Lighroom shows as keywords. Select a photo in Lightroom, change its keywords, save the changes and see if Bridge shows the change. Do the same then in Bridge, and Lightroom should show an icon at the top right of the frame in Grid view. Right-Click on it and "read metadata from file". The keywords should show the Bridge changes.
I think you will see that Keywords operate fairly well between both programs. (If I had the time now I would have experimented for you, but I thought that suggesting something would be faster and work better).
I think that when you have finished all your keywording in Bridge, you can safely create Lighroom catalog and import all you photos, and the new Bridge keywords will be there. (None of the old Lightroom catalog keywords should show up).
p.s I am not atall sure of the syntax in Bridge for entering Parent-Child keywords, but Lightroom's syntax is Child>Parent. I had to think about the Lightroom syntax, because I always think the > is the "greater than" symbol in maths etc, but now I look at as a branching from Parent to Child. Amazing how the little things become " gotchas".

  • Aperture will not assign keywords to multiple photos

Recently I have not been able to assign keywords to multiple photos simultaneously. I also have the same problem when I try to copy adjustments and stamp to multiple photos. Only the one with the main selection is processed. Is this a bug in the newest Aperture (3.4.5)?
    Edit:
Sorry, I found the solution and wasn't able to delete the question: The problem was that the Primary Only button was active.
Message was edited by: Ernst Vikne

You may have the "Primary Only" flag set. Then keywords, ratings, etc will only be applied to the primary selection. Turn it off in Aperture's "Edit" menu: Edit > Primary Only or press the button with the framed "1".

You may want to have a look at this User Tip:                  Keywords or ratings are applied only to one of the selected images - why?

  • Deleting keywords in filter HUD

I have many keywords in my aperture filter HUD that I want to delete -- like typos and keywords I no longer use. I know how to delete them from the keyword HUD, but I can't figure out how to delete them from the filter HUD that pops up when I try to create a smart album. Can anyone tell me how to delete keywords from the filter HUD? Also I have duplicate keywords from importing from iphoto, so the filter HUD will list as separate keywords: soccer (iPhoto) and soccer. I would like to have just one keyword for soccer.
    Thanks for the help.

Thanks, but my Mac doesn't have a backspace key and delete doesn't work. Is there something else I should be pressing?
William was referring to the Keyword HUD (and on my MBP, "{fn}+{delete}" equals backspace). There is a "Delete Keyword" button in the tool-strip located in the bottom border of the Keyword HUD.
Kirby, I understand that your suggestion will help me get the right keywords in the right places, but how can I delete keywords in the filter hub?
This is not how Aperture works. Use the Keywords HUD to manage Keywords. The Filter HUD dynamically shows Keywords. You cannot add, delete, move, or in any way administer Keywords from the Filter HUD.
Even if there are no photos to which that keyword is assigned it still appears in the filter HUD -- I have used smart albums to find all photos assigned to a keyword and deleted the keyword from each one so there are no photos that have that keyword, but it still appears in the filter HUD.
    1. Make sure you aren't filtering your view in any other way. Be sure to flush your entire trashway (rejected, Aperture Trash, system Trash).
    2. Sometimes Aperture takes several moments to catch up on changes. You can force a re-filter by selecting another Keyword, then re-selecting the one you want. I don't know if this forces a refresh of the Keywords in the Filter HUD. You might have to make another selection in the Library tab of the Inspector, then return to your previous selection and re-pop-up the Filter HUD.
    3. If you want to remove all instances of a Keyword, delete it from the Keyword HUD. There is no reason to hunt it down and remove it from every Version to which it is applied.
    4. Regularly, and especially if you migrated photos from iPhoto, you will end up with two Keywords with the same name (they are located at different levels of the Keyword hierarchy. Use the Keyword HUD to merge them (by dragging and dropping). "Dog", "Animals>Dog", and "Animals>Domesticated>Four-legged>Household>Dog" are each distinct Keywords to Aperture.

I upgraded MacbookPro 2009 from 10.6.8 to Yosemite 2 weeks ago. My iphoto is now a nightmare. i went to our local apple retailer but they could not help either. Perhaps someone can help. Beforehand the OS upgrade I made a backup copy of my Iphoto library onto an external hard drive. Lets call it BU with 50GB. I also deleted half of my photos from the default library on my laptop, lets call it DE, now with about 20GB, to gain space. I then upgraded to Yosemite.
I have also installed since a long time Iphoto Library Manager 3.8.6. (this may be the cause of the problem as it was not upgraded and perhaps thus not compatible with iphoto 9.6 which I have now after the upgrade to Yosemite) It all worked fine before the upgrade, switching in iphoto between the two libraries DE and BU.
It also worked fine after the upgrade for a few days. At one stage Iphoto asked me to upgrade the iphoto version as it otherwise could not read the photos when I tried to load the BU library into iphoto. I did click yes to upgrade iphoto. As a result I became a brand new but totally empty library, no photos.
BU was still on the external disc, however the "Master" file was empty. We fortunately discovered all photos were in another file called Old Master, also under BU. We made another copy of the Old Master file onto the external disc. Lucky we did, because shortly afterwards we could not open anymore the BU file thus had no access to anything in there. Now I have 17000 photos in a file called Old Master on my external disc and another smaller library  DE on my laptop. When I tried to import the photos from Old Master into a new iphoto library it was very messy. All events dates were mixed up, many photos were imported twice. I have no idea whether all my 17000 photos have been imported.
Can anyone suggest what is the most time efficient way? How do I best import my 17000 into a new library ensuring I don't loose any in the process. I do not wish sorting through 17000 photos for a week or so. Shall i also get a new iphoto library version now? Thank you for anything that may work.

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • Deleting Discoverer report from Admin

    Hi,
We have exported a discoverer report using Admin from a database D1.
Then imported that report using admin in another database D2.
But i couldn't see the report in the desktop of database D2....don't know why....
Can anybody sugggest a way to delete this report from Admin of database D2 ?
    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.
Actually we were not able to see the report in the desktop though we tried in different ways.
So we did the following to delete the report from Admin using command prompt as follows
    dis4adm.exe /connect <eulowner>/<eulowner password>@<database> /delete /workbook "<workbook name>"
where "<workbook name>" is either "EUL Data Definition" or "Query Statistics".

  • How to delete a report from SAP BO?

is there a way to delete a report from SAP BO that won't be right clicking on it, organize, then delete. Something from the database because I have a report that for some reason has more than 2 million iterations trying to run and is making my server to crash and preventing that other scheduled reports to run.

Following is an excerpt from the above KBA Janos mentioned.
Important Note: It is strongly recommended to take backup of your CMS database and Filestore before performing the steps mentioned below.
    1.Navigate to http://<appservername>:8080/AdminTools
    2.Login with administrator account.
3.Use this query to find number of pending instances (Name and ID of instance) in your environment:
    4.SELECT SI_NAME, SI_ID FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS=9
5.Connect to the CMS System Database with the proprietary database client (e.g., SQL Plus for Oracle).
6.Execute the SQL statement to delete all pending instances in your environment.
For SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1
    DELETE FROM CMS_INFOOBJECTS6 WHERE SCHEDULESTATUS=9
For SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.0
    DELETE FROM CMS_INFOOBJECTS7 WHERE SCHEDULESTATUS=9

  • How to delete more than one photo at a time

Apparently there is no longer an iPhoto trash. So you don't drag photos to the trash. Instead you hit the delete key and then a second click on delete when you get the message "Are you sure you want to delete this photo." Has anyone found a way to delete more than one photo at a time, though? This is really a hassle if you have just imported 500 photos and are going to end up deleting 450 of them.

I didn't say use the command key and delete. I use the command key for selecting random photos. Then I right click and choose delete from the contextual menu.
I always use right click, but the command-delete does work also in that album.
Depending on what album you are in, there are different menus. In a user created album, the right click would show "Remove from Album" & "Delete Photo". I noticed that was the same for Last Import Album. But at the same time, under image, you will only have Remove from Album. If it is a system album, you will only get the delete menu from either the right click or from the menu under Image.
What you have to remember is if it days delete the photo, it will completely delete it from the library and all albums. If the menu says Remove From Album, then it will only be removed from the album you are in.
In PhotoStream Album, you get only Delete Photo from the right click menu, but under image, you get only remove from album. So if you want to remove an image from PhotoStream, you have to use the top menu so it won't get deleted from the library. If you want to remove a photo completely, you would use delete and it will be removed from the library and photo stream.
So, there are different processes for the different albums. I don't know if that is intentional or just oversight. That may change in the future.
