Delete Logic Studio 8 after upgrade to 9?

I just upgraded Logic Studio 8 to 9. When I now look in my Applications folder, I see:
Logic Node 8.app
Logic Node.app
Logic Pro 8.app
Logic Pro.app
Also:
MainStage1.app
MainStage.app
Should I have uninstalled 8 prior to installing 9? I want things as cleaned up as possible.

As we say here 'The only one thing for sure is Copernicus's death'. You can of course delete the L8 related apps to make room on your disk with no harm to your installs, but... If you encounter problems with older projects behaving oddly with l9, don't blame us. Leaving the apps will do no harm or problem, as Mike said. I found that autofilter sounds different in one project opened in L9 and L8 for comparison. For now, that's the only issue I encountered. If I were you I would have deleted something else instead. For example look in your mail folder and clean it up (don't forget to rebuild mailboxes afterwards). Mine oscilates by 1GB but when I find some time I bet it can be reduced by half.

Cannot delete file on win7 after upgrading to Lion

After upgrading Lion OS X, I can not delete file on Lion partition from win 7. It always says "This file is too large...".
Also, My 2 HFS partition will not show on win 7. How to solve it?
I did upgrade BootCamp to 3.3

What your going to need to do is c boot and install OS X (10.6) from the disk, onto a blank external drive (format the drive first in Disk Utility: GUID OS X Extended (J))
Once 10.6 is installed, hold the option key and boot from the 10.6 external drive, go through setup with your same user name, and Software Update to 10.6.8
Then download and install DataRescue ($99) onto the external 10.6 drive and attach another blank external GUID OS X extended formatted drive and run DataRescue to recover your files to that drive. There will be a lot.
Data Rescue will read the 1's and 0's of the files themselves regardless of what your partition map says, before they are overwritten.
After that's done, access the second external drive and pick though the files to recover.
Once you have gotten all your data, you need to install all your third party programs on the external drive from original sources and update. Then move your files you've recovered to it.
Once that' is all done, erase one drive and download Winclone, and clone the Bootcamp Windows to the empty drive.
Then use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero the entire internal drive of all partitions and everything. (select the drive makers name and size on the far left) Format GUID OS x Extended Journaled like always.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the 10.6.8 external drive to the internal drive, disconnect the external drive and boot from the internal drive and then install Lion on the internal drive. You can hold option key, click on Purchases to download Lion again.
Use Bootcamp to set up Windows partition, then follow Winclones directions to clone Windows back into the Bootcamp partition.

Invalid data from serveral fact logical table sources after upgrade to 11g

We have a situation after upgrade from 10g to 11g. Answers' querys works fine in 10g environment, but in 11g, generated SQL is not correct.
Our example is something like that: we have orders fact table, customers and time dimensions. Customer have an hierarchy like: Customer Total -> Customer Country -> Customer Region -> Customer Detail (each level in one different physical table).
Order's logical table source has two table sources. One sets to Customer Country level, second one Customer Region level, both with different WHERE clauses in Content tab inside LTS configuration. Both at same level of Time dimension.
The issue is that, at dimension level, SQL is getting correct table to resolve Customer data (Customer Region level), but then, is getting the WHERE clause sets in LTS set to Customer Country level, so we are getting error data. Priority is the same to both LTS at fact table, sets to 0 (default).
How to know the way Oracle BI Server takes one LTS instead of another one? It's supposed to take the LTS defined at the same granularity level... but is not correct this case.

Can you try one of these options:
Try to set the priority group of lowest granular dimension to 1
or disable the LTS that is getting the where clause and check if it works fine and then enable again.

How to delete songs, photos, etc, after upgrade to iPhone 4.3.1?

After upgrade to iPhone 4.3.1 it is not possible to delete songs or photos as I did it before: selecting the songs to delete and clicking the "delete" key in the MAC keyboard.

Deleting old Apple Apps after upgrading to Mavericks

After upgrading to Mavericks (so far, so good) I noticed that old Apple Apps were still available.
What is the best way to delete the apps and their associated files (without causing any problems with the new versions).
I am trying to make sure I can create more space on my hard drive by deleting the old apps.
By the way - some of the apps are from iLife 09.

You will need a copy of the Maverick installer.
Use Pacificst to " Open Apple Intallers"
The go to Contents of Mavericks->Contents of EssentialSystemSoftware->Contents of Essentials.pkg->Applications
Then Click on the programs that don't seem to be working and insall. This helped me update certain applications that weren't working such as App Store, Font Book, Mail, and any others.

Recovering Logic Studio Serial After Reformat?

I just reformatted my macbook pro. I did a clean wipe of the hard drive. I went to reinstall logic studio and realized that I have lost the installing your software booklet that contains the serial number. I have all the discs and other documentation, but not the one that I need. I don't remember if I registered the software when I first installed it, but I have a feeling that I didn't. I have looked at the information about getting a new serial number from apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861), but I don't have the proof of purchase anymore either. It seems like I might be out of luck. Is there anyway to use some kind of software to recover the serial from before I reformatted the computer? I know that you can see the serial in logic when you open it so maybe there is some way to recover the file that contains the serial? I just reformatted yesterday and haven't installed much on the computer yet. Any solutions that don't require expensive programs would be preferred because I don't have the money to spend on that right now (or on a new copy of logic if I can't recover the serial )

No, you can only recover it from a backup. Copy the file /Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID back on the computer. This will only work, if the computer is the same. You can't use it to transfer a license to a new computer.

Time Machine deleted all my backups after upgrading to Yosemite!!!! Help!!!!

Hi all! I'm in deep, deep trouble!! I was on Lion, and had all my backups on an external hard drive done by the Time Machine.
So after I did a clean install to upgrading to Yosemite. So I was left with my Imac with nothing on it, Yosemite, and the applications that I've been installing manually.
However, Time Machine starting backing again my Imac with Yosemite, and decided to delete ALL BACKUPS of when I was with Lion!!!
Now I'm only have my new Backups(3 days old), and ALL MY WORK IS GONE!! (About 1TB of precised organised info!!!)
I tried a software called Data Recovery and whilst is recovering only a 50% of all deleted data after a scanning, now its retrieving that info with new names i.e. 0001,0002,0003 and organising depending on name of extension i.e: PDF,JPEG...therefore becoming totally useless as it will take literally YEARS to put it back the way it was.
Please HELP, I don't know what to do!!!

Logic not working after upgrade to Snow Leopard

I resisted upgrading to Snow Leopard while working on a few projects and just did yesterday. As feared, Logic is not working. It goes through the opening sequence and then when I try to open a project it crashes. I;ve tried rebooting. Same problem. Any ideas? Do I need to reinstall Snow Leopard? Or am I faced with reloading Logic? Any local caches I can delete to try and reset it on next start? Thanks so much.

Delete and Re-install after upgrade from single app to full cloud suite?

Hi, I recenly upgraded to the full creative cloud membership from a single app subscription of Illustrator last month.
I opened an illustrator file today from the single app installation and recieved a warning that I no longer have access to the program. Do I need to delete this version of illusrtrator and re-install from my new creative cloud suite membership? Or is there a way to register the current downloaded version of Illustrator with my new full suite subscription?

You don't need to uninstall illustrator from your computer.
You can simply launch the program ---> it will give you a pop up that your subscription is expired or the trial is expired ---> in the same window there will be a button 'License this software' ---> click on 'License this software'
---> Sign in with your Adobe Id on whihc you have the full creative cloud subscription ---> your subscription will be activated.
You can install rest of the products.

Deleting of older version after upgrade

I have upgraded to PrPro 6.0 and also to Creative Suite 6.0. In order to save disc space, it is possible to delete the older e.g. CS 5.5 versions without "penalty"? Or are there still some files embedded which the newer version requires?

It is safe to uninstall the older versions.

Should I delete iChat Icons folder after upgrading to Mountain Lion?

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I see an IChat Icons folder alias in my Pictures folder.
Is the original file folder that it references used for anything in Mountain Lion? For example, can Messages access it?
Should I delete the alias and the original now that I have upgraded to Mountain Lion?

I am booted into Yosemite and the version there called Messages 8 (It is also Messages 8 in Mavericks but they are significantly different)
I see this and I think the labelling has changed
This is the lower end of Defaults.
At the top of the Apple User account selection. (see below)
That is followed by the iChat Icons selection. That is the Flags, Flowers and Fruits, guitars, planets and masks plus the Pokemon like ones and the gems
I have always found it defaults to the Recents "folder".
I am struggling to remember how it was in Messages 7 in Mountain Lion.

Deleting older software versions after upgrade

I've upgraded from CS5.5 to CS6...this is actually my 2nd or 3rd upgrade. It looks like all the older versions are still on the machine. Does installing an upgraded version still need all or parts of the older versions to work or can I uninstall the older versions of adobe software?

You are welcome to uninstall the older versions of the software using their uninstallers. You may need to set back up your file associations if you do so though. If you need additional information on either of these items then please post which operating system you are using.

Deleting extraneous second library after upgrading to iPhoto 6

Hi.
I recently upgraded to iPhoto 6 from iPhoto 2*. When using iPhoto 2 I had to create two separate libraries for my photos because of issues with extreme slowness and crashing, but I've successfully been able to place all of my photos in one library with iPhoto 6. What I'm wondering is if there will be any problems if I trash the now unnecessary second library (I recopied the photos to iPhoto 6 from an external hard drive, so the second library is still full and wasting memory).
I realize this is probably a really stupid question, but for some reason I'm nervous about ditching it (probably the result of reading so many tales of woe on this board from people who messed with their library folders too much).

If you're sure that all the photos are in the big library... then there's no problem. But here's a test - move the unwanted Library Folder to the desktop. Now launch the one you want and see does all work well. If it does then trash away!
