Delete mailbox only, not AD account

There is an AD account named Domain\User1 which has an associated mailbox (User1).
I would like to delete the mailbox ONLY, not the AD account. I will then recreate a new, blank, mailbox for User1.
Does anyone know how this is possible with Exchange 2007? With 2003, you could delete a mailbox only via ADUC, but can't see a way to do this in 2007 EMC.

Hi,
From your description, you should disable the mailbox and it will keep the user account and without a mailbox. And when you remove a mailbox in EMC, it will remove the user account in ADUC.
Here are some articles for you. Please see,

  • TS3276 There are two User accounts on my iMac. The two Users have seperate email accounts.  Both email Mailboxes show up in each Account.  If I Delete Mailbox from in User account, does it delete the Mailbox from the other User account at the same time?

There are 2 Users on my iMac.  Each User has their own email account.  Both account Mailboxes show up in each User's account.  If I delete a Mailbox in one account, does it delete the same Mailbox in the other Account?

If you click the - sign in Mail preferences, it will delete that mail account. If you just delete the Mailbox, that will just delete the Mailbox.
Each user can put their own email account information in Mail when logged into their User Account.
If you don't want the other user's mail account to show up in your mail application, then make sure the other user's messages are available to them when they are logged into their account and delete the other user account from Mail in your User Account. The other user can do the same when logged into their user account. Any messages stored in one locally will have to be transfered to the other's user account if it's not saved in their user login.
In addition, instead of deleting the account at first, highlight the account and open the Advanced Tab and disable the account. That email account will dissappear from Mail. Once you decide that you don't want the account, you can delete it. If you need to get back to it to transfer messages, just re enable it.

  • Deleting mailboxes in my email account.

I Can't delete a mailbox that I created in my email account. When I go to edit and select the mailbox/folder it comes up with the option to delete and when I select it it boots me out of my email account?  Sends me to my home screen. Kinda strange.

If your PC is connected to your iCloud account anything you add, alter or delete from the account is replicated everywhere that is connected to the account.
There is only 1 data store, not separate ones for each device.
The best way to do it is at the server itself (www.icloud.com)

  • Where do Deleted mailboxes go.

I deleted a mailbox because I thought the messages would be saved in the new smart mailbox I had just created. Well that wasn't very smart of me because they didn't stay and now all those messages are gone and I can't find them. I was wondering if anyone knew where these messages went. I had messages back from August in there and where they are imported from only keeps six months worth. Can anyone shed light on if I can get these Messages back?

When deleting a mailbox, the mailbox is deleted from the hard drive after selecting OK at the warning message.
A Smart Mailbox is only a virtual mailbox which contains a pointer to the original message in the originating mailbox only - not a copy of the message. Depending on the Smart Mailbox criteria, it is possible for a particular message to be available in a number of different Smart Mailboxes. Deleting the original message from the originating mailbox for a message that is available in a Smart Mailbox will also remove the message from the Smart Mailbox.
Instead of creating a Smart Mailbox for this purpose, select New Mailbox instead which creates an actual mailbox.
To try to recover the deleted messages will require using a data recovery utility such as FileSalvage with no guarantee and the more you use your computer and access the hard drive, you lesson your chances of recovering this data by any means.

  • Please, help!!!!! How can i delete Angry birds not only from my device (iPhone 4), but from my iTunes account, too? I am a new user.

I am a new user of iPhone 4. I have problems with "Angry birds". I heard that i can fix the problem by deleting the application. So, the question is : How can i delete the game not only from my device, but from my iTunes account, too? Please, help!!!

You can just tap and hold any icon to put into Edit mode.  There you can delete.
Or you can just tell iTunes not to sync it.
To remove from iTunes just click on it in list and press delete.

  • How do I delete an email from my iPhone 4S, but not have the email deleted from the actual email account?

I just got my iPhone 4S and when I delete my email from the phone, they are also deleted from my email account on the computer.  When I had a Blackberry, there was an option to delete from the phone only or delete from both.  Does anyone know if this is possible with the iPhone and if so,m how I do it?  Thanks.

Not sure what email you are dealing with but when I go into the setting for mail and choose one of my accounts I can go to the Advanced settings for that account and click on "deleted mailbox". Leave the setting for "On My iPhone" to Trash. Under "On the Server" you can change where the messages go. Default is probably set to "Trash". Change it to "Saved" (if that folder is there) or create a new folder in your email client (access it from a computer and see if you can add a folder. Then check setting on your phone to see if the new folder shows. If so, then have the emails go to that folder. I would think this should work the way that you want. Just test it out and see if that works.

  • Removing "Not Deleted" Mailboxes from a Database

Before I go anywhere, let me explain what I mean by "Not Deleted" mailboxes - We will be deleting and recreating a pair of databases this weekend. A s part of this process, we move all mailboxes from these databases to the other 22 mailbox databases
in the corporation, leaving our databases empty.  We then run a command to find the soft-deleted and disconnected mailboxes and handle them (remove the former and reconnect the latter so we can move them to another database).  When I ran this script
on one of the two databases, I found that the database had two supposedly live mailboxes on it.
So I ran Get-MailboxStatistics -Database and got info about these two mailboxes.  Neither shows as being SoftDeleted or Disconnected, and neither has a DisconnectDate.  So they should be live mailboxes, with an AD account.  So I checked them
and found one had an account - but was on another database on a totally different server (in fact, in the other DAG).  And the other belonged to an account that was deleted last November.
So, these two mailboxes appear to be zombies, with no life and no soul, but doomed to foil my plans to delete the database gracefully - they are all that stands between me and the success of my mission.  Now, I know I can take the database offline,
delete the database files, and bring them back online and that will kill these zombie mailboxes, but I was hoping someone had a way I can delete them gracefully so I don't feel like I've just used a sledgehammer on my servers.  I tried Remove-StoreMailbox,
but it requires that the mailbox have a status of either SoftDeleted or Disconnected - and from what I've read online, those are the only two accepted options.
So I come to you for possible guidance - keep in mind that these are totally unnecessary mailboxes and I have no qualms about deleting the database if that what it comes down to.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  Thanks ...
    Will

There were two active mailboxes showing from the "Get-MailboxStatistics -Database <database name>" command, even though the database showed no active mailboxes when running "Get-Mailbox -Database <database name>" command.  Neither of these
had a disconnected date, and neither showed a value in the Reason field.  Now for your answers:
    1.  One of these mailboxes showed as being on another database, same GUID, etc, and was able to be accessed on that other database.  However, Get-MailboxStatistics - Database <database name> showed that it also existed on this database.
We couldn't connect an account to this mailbox, nor could we delete it - the command (below) said the mailbox was on another database (which it was).
    Connect-Mailbox -Identity <mbx GUID> -Database <name of the database we wished to delete> -User <account SAM account name> -Alias <account SAM account name> -Shared -DomainController <domain controller>
    2.  The command was what I show above.
Post Mortem:  Since we had to delete the database, and since neither of them were needed, we just went forward with our work.  I was hoping we'd be able to remove these mailboxes gracefully, but none of the tools we had available worked for the
    job.

  • HT201320 I am the added e-mail on my wife's iPad.  I can not delete any mail in trash?  Thus Trash is collecting in bin.  I can delete trash in her Mail account?

II'm having trouble deleting messages in trash bin in mail, only on the added e-mail account.  The primary account functions fine! I note several users are having the same problem!

    Hey BSK_AplSprtCm,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your Mail account. It sounds like you may need to configure which mailbox is your Trash mailbox. To do so, see the following:
Mail (Mavericks): If messages aren’t stored where expected on the mail server
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14957
If there’s another mailbox on the IMAP server (for example, Sent Items) that contains the messages you’re looking for, you can have Mail use that mailbox to store messages. To do so, select that mailbox (listed under the account’s name and icon) in the Mail sidebar, choose Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For, then choose Drafts, Sent, Trash, or Junk, as applicable. You can select any mailbox on your IMAP server to store draft, sent, deleted, or junk messages. If Mail can’t upload messages to a server mailbox, copies of the messages aren’t saved.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I have deleted accounts via preferences Mail,Contacts etc however mailboxes still show in mail app and i am unable to delete them (Delete mailbox is greyed out)!

    Hi,
Ive constantly had problems with mail app since upgrading to mountaion lion. 8/10 time i have to force quit mail but thats not the main problem. I have been trying to delete all my mailboxes however the "Delete Mailbox" option is always greyed out therefore I went to system preferences>Mail,Contacts..., then selected the accounts and clicked " - " and deleted the accounts successfully.
Weird thing is that the mailboxes still show in mail app. I have no accounts showing in preferences as i have deleted everything but when i open mail app, everything is still there.
Anyone have an idea, what is going here? Wish it could be like windows, just uninstall and install the app again -_-
    Thanks in advance!

I found this link for a similar problem someone had with a Lotus Notes account. I used it to resolve my issue with a different email account (basically followed the same steps, and then looked for the particular account I needed to delete)... hope it helps!

  • Mailbox Export Started then Account Deleted - Export still InProgress

We had a user whose email export process was started but then the account was deleted before the export finished. Running "Get-MailboxExportRequest" displays this:
    Name                 Mailbox         Status
    MailboxExport1                       InProgress
I cannot "Remove-MailboxExportRequest" because the Mailbox does not exist. The Exchange 2010 server has been rebooted but this lingers.
Is there any way to stop this and prevent it from starting again?

    Hi,
Do you use the following command to remove the export request?
    Get-MailboxExportRequest | Remove-MailboxExportRequest
If not, please run this command to check result.

My Outlook 2011 is synchronising with an IMAP account and deleting old emails not on my ISP's database. How to I stop synchronisation, and only download new emails?

The "LocalAccount" is "On My Mac" and doesn't correspond to an account on a mail server. That all I can tell you from the information provided.

  • Can't Delete A Message: Destination mailbox does not exist

Got a spam email today and Mail won't let me delete it. Clicking Delete grays the message, but it won't move to the Trash. If I try and drag it manually, I get the error message "destination mailbox does not exist."
And it's right: the To: address is a fake one and NOT one of my accounts.
Anyone know how in the world I can get rid of this message?

    Hi Ernie,
Thanks for your help. In the end, my solution was to delete the GMail account completely from Mail.app, recreate it and let it synchronise my mail back from Google (I have Mail.app set to leave messages on the server, for GMail). I now of course have all the 'correct' emails back in Mail.app, without the ones I could not delete.
I can tell you, though, that there were indeed no other files in the old INBOX.mbox folder other than the ones you mentioned. What other files might there have been?

  • If I move a mailbox from my imap account to "on my mac" can I safely delete the folder from the mail server and still be able to read the messages?

If I move a mailbox from my imap account to "on my mac" can I safely delete the folder from the mail server and still be able to read the messages?

    You certainly can.
Be aware that the emails you move to local storage ("on my Mac") will be the only copies that remain.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
