Delete MailBox using Exchange 9.1 Connector

Hi,
We are using the following configuration:
OIM 9.1
OIM CP 9.1
Exchange 2007.
AD
Provisioning a Exchange RO to a user which has AD RO, will create a mailbox in Exchange.
How can we delete the Exchange mailbox when deprovisioning the Exchange RO ?
Thank You,
Ionut

Certified OIM version for this connector version is OIM 9.1.0.2

• Is it supported to connect Exchange 2013 Mailbox using Exchange 2010 CAS in Co-existence?

Hi Team,
I am in the phase of upgrading Exchange 2010 to 2013, and introduced 4 MBX and 2 CAS of 2013 servers in co-existence.
Only one production mailbox of 2010 moved to 2013. The owa of the mailbox moved to 2013, is working OK internally coz only internally configured, but when I configure outlook using 2010 settings, it got configured but when I open outlook it doesn't
open and throws an error of some "cannot open set of folders".
Is it supported to connect Exchange 2013 Mailbox using Exchange 2010 CAS in Co-existence? because I havnt configured 2013 CAS servers yet.
Kindly share some KB or tip. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

I'll change Adam's wording slightly - you *MUST* install a CAS 13 server into every site where there is a MBX 13 server.

• PowerShell Report of Deleted Mailboxs on Exchange 2003

Preparing for Migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010/13
and or Office 365, you'll need to find "Deleted Mailboxes".
Since PowerShell doesn't have any Calls direct to Ex2003 for this, we have to pull WMI objects.
This Script will pull all the Deleted Mailboxes from Ex2003 from your Ex2010 Native or Hybid Server.
$now = Get-Date #Used for timestamps
$date = $now

• Core roles installed on one virtual server for roughly 200-300 mailboxes using Exchange 2010?

For a customer who is looking at keeping costs down, they are wondering whether setting up a virtualized Exchange 2010 server with all the core roles installed would be possible. So the mailbox, CAS and hub all on one virtual slice.
The customer has around 200-300 mailboxes.
I know that its hard to give a guess for sizing, but I was wondering if a 4 core, 16 GB RAM build on Server 2012 would be sufficient, with the storage obvioulsy being SAN. I know this is dependant upon mailbox size and usage, but I don't have those
numbers unfortunately. Would the 4/16 build be sufficient? Too much?
Any further information around this would be great. Thanks.

Hello,
I recommend you use Exchange 2010 Server Role Requirements Calculator to design your environment.

• How to recover a deleted/overwritten mailbox in Exchange 2013?

We had a mailbox in our exchange database 1 called, example, [email protected] And I had to create another mailbox called, example, [email protected], which I created in the same database. This either deleted or overwrote the first mailbox (@abc.com)
Now, mails sent to the first mailbox are undelivered and cannot login to webmail either. Is there a way to restore that mailbox? What are the steps to recover/list deleted mailbox?

Hi
It is not possible to create 2 mailboxes with same alias in a forest . Each mailbox should have unique alias name which in turn would have an AD account for the same and will be associated only with one mailbox.
Just check if the old mailbox is showing up in the disconnected mailboxes and you should have created a new mailbox by mistake.

• Who has full access on all mailboxes in Exchange 2010 using Powershell ?

Greetings,
Could you please tell me how can i know Who has full access on all mailboxes in Exchange 2010 using Powershell ?
Thanks.

This is going to depend greatly on WHICH inherited permissions you plan to delete - there are some that you can never delete if you want the system to function properly. Now, that being said, let's look at some example permissions. First, here
are some permissions on a standard mailbox:
Identity             User                 AccessRights
IsInherited Deny
users.corp.... USERS\btwatcher    {FullAccess}
False       False
users.corp.... USERS\svcactAdmin {FullAccess}
True        False
users.corp.... CORP\Domain Ad... {FullAccess}
True        True
users.corp.... CORP\Enterpris... {FullAccess}
True        True
users.corp.... CORP\Organizat... {FullAccess}
True        True
users.corp.... CORP\adminact    {FullAccess}
True        True
users.corp.... CORP\esswin       {FullAccess}
True        True
users.corp.... USERS\svcactEncase {FullAccess}
True        False
users.corp.... CORP\Exchange ... {FullAccess}
True        False
users.corp.... NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM  {FullAccess}
True        False
As you can see, the first is not inherited. All others are, and two are from service accounts (svcact...). Also, some are Exchange system permissions, some are denies, and some are just administrative accounts. Once you determine which
you wish to remove, the SIMPLEST way to set the permissions you want is to open the account properties in ADSIEdit, and go to the Security tab. Here, click the Advanced button and find the inherited permission you wish to remove. ADSIEdit will
show where the permission is inherited from - you will need to go to that container to remove the inherited permission. You can also grant inherited denies at the same level(s).
Now, something you will need to understand is that if you hope to remove permissions granted to domain administrators, the system will replace them - these permissions are required by the system and can't be modified permanently.

• Exchange 2010 Send Connector to postfix (v. 2.11) smarthost uses STARTTLS and cannot connect

and if you take a look at the lines in bold you will see that mails can be delivered over TLS to that very Exchange server (the mailboxes are on that server)...
To summarise:
exchange --> postfix with TLS = session disconnected (and everything seems to be initiated by the exchange server -if I read the logs correctly)
postfix --> exchange with TLS = works
any further hints?
Thank you very much in advance,

• Deleting the old Exchange 2007 mailbox entry safely from ADSI Edit ?

Hi,
I'm having problem with the old Exchange maiilbox 2007 CCR cluster name still showing whenever I use the Powershell script:
Get-MailboxServer | Select Name, AdminDisplayVersion, ServerRole, ExchangeVersion, IsValid, ExchangeLegacyServerRole, DistinguishedName
Can anyone please assist me what to backup first before so that I can safely remove / delete the following highlighted entry from my domain controller:
Is that the correct location where I can safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry ? All of our Exchange Servers are 2010 SP2.
There is also the computer object named MAILBOX when I do the search in
Active Directory Users & Computers console.
So can anyone please clarify if this is the best and safest way to do without causing any email downtime ?
/* Server Support Specialist */

Hey there,
You need to ensure that you have the following backups in order to proceed with the decommissioning process:
1. System State Backup of your Active directory
2. Exchange Database Flat file Backup
3. Run ExBPA Report and Export the Report for future reference.
4. Go to Registry Editor and Export “My Computer” as Registry backup.
Yes you are at the right location to safely delete the old Exchange Server mailbox entry .
The best & cleanest way is to delete the whole server object. This wouldn't break your Exchange 2010 configuration. But make sure you don't delete the “Servers” folder itself.
Feel free to revert back for further queries
Thanks

• Using Exchange Web Service (EWS) Streaming Notifications for a shared mailbox in Exchange Server, works or not?

Hi,
I am planning to develop an application to use EWS managed API streaming notification for listening the new email event of a shared mailbox. Will it will work or not? I knew it works for a personal mailbox, where the authentication of EWS can be performed
with the associated Active directory account. For the shared mailbox in Exchange Server, is there such an Active Directory account associated?
Thanks,
Richard

>> Are you saying that if an Active Directory account has the access to a shared mailbox, and then this account can be used for creating the Streaming subscription for that mailbox
Yes that's correct (try it yourself with the EWSEditor)
>> In other words, the way how Exchange Server works is that the new messages like new emails are automatically sending to all of the AD accounts which have the access to a mailbox.
Not sure what you mean by this ? A Shared a Mailbox is just like any other Exchange Mailbox if you have rights to the Folder then you can create a subscription against it. There is no automation involved.

• How to use Powershell to set delegate for user mailbox in Exchange 2010 and Office 365

Hello,
Can you please tell me if I can set delegate for user mailbox in Exchange 2010 or Office 365 using Powershell?
If I can, then how can I do that? (which Powershell commands for setting the delegate?)
Many thanks, and have a good day!

Hi,
If you wanted to add a delegate to possiblly a large number of users or you do this during mailbox provisioning. So the following script will use
impersonation to access another users mailbox and add a delegate.
$mbtoDelegate = "[email protected]"
$delegatetoAdd = "[email protected]"
$dllpath = "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Web Services\1.0\Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll"
[void][Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile($dllpath)
$service = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeVersion]::Exchange2007_SP1)
$windowsIdentity = [System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent()
$sidbind = "LDAP://<SID=" + $windowsIdentity.user.Value.ToString() + ">"
$aceuser = [ADSI]$sidbind
$service.AutodiscoverUrl($aceuser.mail.ToString())
$service.ImpersonatedUserId = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ImpersonatedUserId([Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ConnectingIdType]::SmtpAddress,
$mbtoDelegate);
$mbMailbox = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.Mailbox($mbtoDelegate)
$dgUser = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateUser($delegatetoAdd)
$dgUser.ViewPrivateItems = $false
$dgUser.ReceiveCopiesOfMeetingMessages = $false
$dgUser.Permissions.CalendarFolderPermissionLevel = [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateFolderPermissionLevel]::Editor
$dgUser.Permissions.InboxFolderPermissionLevel = [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateFolderPermissionLevel]::Reviewer
$dgArray = new-object Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.DelegateUser[] 1
$dgArray[0] = $dgUser
$service.AddDelegates($mbMailbox, [Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.MeetingRequestsDeliveryScope]::DelegatesAndMe, $dgArray);
Hope this helps.

• How to get list of Users[MailBoxes] in Exchange Server 2013 by using EWS Managed API

Hi all,
I need list of Users exists in my Exchange server 2013 , i.e Mail Box Users login name.
I was created Full Access permissions of all users to Admin user account, to access each user Mailbox programatically
i need the list of Mailboxes in exchange server .
MailBox  mailbox = new MailBox("user");
Please share your ideas

Hi,
We can run the following command in Exchange Management Shell to get all user mailboxes name and export it to a .csv file:
Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Select Name,Alias,RecipientTypeDetails | Export-Csv c:\Users.csv
If you want to retrieve the list of users by using EWS Managed API, I suggest you can ask a question in Exchange Development forum for more suggestion:

• How to use Javamail for accessing additional mailboxes -IMAP, Exchange 2010

hi,
I want to access a shared mailbox (NOT FOLDER) via Javamail API (1.4.5) using IMAP(s) with plain logon. The mailserver is a Exchange Server 2010.
User: user1 ([email protected])
pwd: xxxx
shared mailbox: [email protected]
Properties:
mail.imaps.socketFactory.port = 993
mail.imaps.starttls.enable = true
mail.imaps.socketFactory.class = javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory
mail.imaps.socketFactory.fallback = false
username = [email protected]
password = xxxx
I´ve managed to get access to the user1 - mailbox:
Session session = Session.getInstance(properties, new ExchangeAuthenticator(username, password));
session.setDebug(true);
Store store = session.getStore("imaps");
store.connect(imapHost, username, password);
--> this works just fine! But now i want to access the additional mailbox by changing the login-String:
[email protected]/shared_MB (user@domain/additional_MB)
--> unfortunately I´m getting an "NO AUTHENTICATE" message:
DEBUG: setDebug: JavaMail version 1.4.5
DEBUG: getProvider() returning javax.mail.Provider[STORE,imaps,com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPSSLStore,Sun Microsystems, Inc]

DEBUG IMAP: AUTHENTICATE PLAIN command result: A1 NO AUTHENTICATE failed.
javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: AUTHENTICATE failed.
I was able to get access with Thunderbird and also with the Exchange OWA-Client, so I think there is something missing in my code...
or is it just impossible to get access to a different mailbox using javamail and plain-auth?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks bshannon, that was a great idea!
I haven´t found an solution yet, but I have maybe identified the real problem:

744[7161040]: login succeeded
--> okay, so Thunderbird is using "old-style IMAP login" and is successful.
Unfortunately I have no idea what that actually means or how to use it in Javamail (is it even supported?). Any suggestions?

• Exchange creates a new logs even no mailbox uses the storage group

We are running Exchange 2007 with 4 storage groups. We have migrated most of our mailboxes to Office 365 (there two web emails need to configure SMTP relay on Office 365) and stopped Exchange backup. However, the Exchange data still increases
everyday because of the log files. In checking the those storages, no one uses storage group 2 and 3, but these two storages have a new log files every day. Why? How can we find out which mailbox uses them?
Bob Lin, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Install and Configure Windows, VMware, Virtualization and Cisco on http://www.HowToNetworking.com

An easy way to see what mailboxes are being used on your system is to check your message tracking logs - run the following:
Get-TransportServer | Sort Name | % { get-messagetrackinglog -Start "11/3/2014" -ResultSize Unlimited } | Select TimeStamp, Sender, Recipients, MessageSubject, EventID, TotalBytes, RecipientCount, RecipientStatus, ServerHostName, MessageLatency*,
ConnectorID
This should get you the information if mailboxes have been used for sending or receiving email. If you have any retention enabled in your system, this will cause messages to be removed from mailboxes. And there is the common daily calendar management
that the systems does. If you have the recoverable items and recoverable mailboxes in place, these will be removed over time. And finally, Exchange closes log files so that the database can be recovered to a certain point in time, regardless of
whether there is traffic on the database. So even if you have removed all access from your mailboxes, and in fact even if you have removed all your mailboxes, you will have transaction logs being closed.
