Delete my Iweb pages off of a former .mac account

I started a free trial of .mac and published my site on it. I then realized I wanted a different .mac name so I started another account free trial with a the plan of buying it in the near future and now my web page via iweb is on both. I am gonna let the first one lapse and go away but, I would like to get my web page off of it if possible. without deleting it from my new account. I am going in circles.. please help if you can, and I apoligize ahead of time if this is a stupid same ole same ole subject.. thanks everyone.

At the bottom of your screen is the Dock. Click on the blue left-most icon - that's the Finder. Then at the top your screen you'll see a Go menu item. Click on it and move your mouse down over iDisk... Then move the mouse over to the right and choose "Other User's iDisk..."

  • Deleting old iWeb Pages

    Hi there.
I've used iWeb from more than one computer with different iWeb domain libraries in the past. Deleted all the old pages & sites I don't need via iWeb but loggin on to me.com shows a lost of old pages that are still up there. Some from even very old iWeb libraries.
Tried manually deleting these stray pages via ME interface but can't delete files that way. Any advice on how to reset and clear my iWeb pages on the ME iDisk?

From Finder press Shift/Command/I to go to your iDisk. Enter your login credentials if necessary. From your iDisk you can view your published files. Select the folders/files you'd like to delete and press delete.

  • IWeb page didn't publish to .mac

I created a web site in iWeb and chose command "publish to .mac" when it was ready. I got an error message saying it didn't publish, but not why. (Yes, I already have a .mac account.)
The page also does not appear under the URL http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]. (With the latter part filled in correctly, minus the brackets.)
Worst of all, I cannot find the original iWeb site, only the index copy saved as a Safari file, so I can't attempt to republish.
One, where did my original work go?
Two, why didn't it publish, and what can I do to fix it?

To see the problem go to http://web.mac.com/robruhn
I don't seen any problem. Perhaps it is just your local browser cache? Try clearing your cache and using another browser.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how the pc
    user can form the link?
http://web.mac.com/robruhn should work just fine, unless the person at the other end is mistyping it or something. I would suggest that you get rid of the space in your site name and republish, as that might cause problems for some systems (i.e. change Site 3 to Site3 or Site-3 or Site_3).

  • My iweb pages were created on another mac--what now?

A friend helped me create a web site. But he did it using iweb '08 on his Mac and using (I think) his .mac account. Now we're trying to move what he did onto MY mac.. The files are on my computer now and i have iweb '08. Here's the problem: although I can view the pages if I click on them, they're not opening up in my iweb. Does this mean they're not really publishing under my name and won't work with my e-mail and domain? Do I have to create the pages again, and start from scratch on my computer?
    Thanks . . .

I appreciate the response, but it's still not working. Here's what I did: got a folder called "sites" from my friend which included something called html.index and another folder with several sub folders that I believe are the nuts and bolts of my site. I took the whole thing and placed it in Library/applications support/iweb. But when I open up iweb, all I see is the program's default template page.
Did I copy the wrong thing? Do I need to go into a different menu of my iweb to find my stuff?
    Thanks, again, for your help . . . .

  • IWeb pages not updating correctly on .mac website.

I have changed one of my pages in iWeb. This page was a photos page. I tried to put a movie at the bottom of the page and it didn't work right. When you load up the page it looks like there to be a movie there but it doesn't play. So I decided to remove it. I removed it in iWeb and published the update to my .mac account. When I go to view it the movie is still posted on my website.
Anybody know how to fix this problem?

depending on which browser you use you will find it here:
SAFARI: Open Safari, then choose "Safari" from the silver-white bar at the top and choose to "Empty Cache..."
FIREFOX: Open FF, and then from the bar at the top choose "Extras" and then "Clear Private Files." then from the pop-up choose to to clear cache. do this twice.

  • TS4058 HELLO I WOULD LIKE TO CREATE AN IWEB but I cannot create a .mac account help please?

    Hello,
I am having trouble trying with publishing my iWeb site however I am taking to log in screen for the .mac account and cannot log into it. I am not sure if I have one created. I created one through iChat I believe but it is still giving me an invalid account name or password after submitting the website to be published. Can anyone help please? I am currently using a Macbook 2008 series with Leopard 10.5 OS... thank you, Sahara

iChat and MobileMe are NOT the same thing.  .Mac does not exist and has not now for several years - it is MobileMe instead, but unless you already have an account which is sounds as if you don't, then it is too late. You can't get one now.
If you want to publish your site, then you'll have to find a domain name registrar and register a domain name of choice and then purcahse hosting too and then you can publish by publishing to a local folder and then uploading using an ftp client such as Cyberduck.
Start by taking a look at http://www.godaddy.com or http://www.hostexcellence.com where you can register a domain name and purchase hosting.
MobileMe will no longer exist as of 30th June this year - it is going and iCloud has taken over, but will not host websites so everyone on this forum is having to search for alternative hosting.
Perhaps do a search of this forum for the relevant topics.

  • Mail won't let me turn off Server Authentication for .Mac accounts

Greetings. Mail won't let me alter my server settings for .Mac. I am attempting to turn off "server authentication" so that I can use my .Mac account via mail through a hotel network, but every time I change the setting and exit the preferences screen Mail automatically reverts back to the previous setting. Ideas?

Set up a new account for that with account type either IMAP or POP (not .Mac) as you desire.

  • How to remove old iWeb pages off internet which are no longer in iWeb program?

This is my current looking website - www.pholife.co.uk
    which goes to - 'www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/Start.html'
when googling 'pholife tom bird' an older website under the same domain name appears in the search list before the pholife/start.html page
The old website and various pages -
    http://www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/pholife/Home.html
this website ^^^ was the same project as the professional looking one which i changed 6 months ago. If people google me, they will be led to a page which isnt the page I wish for them to see as it is ranked higher in the google search as it is older.
Some how along the line I removed the second 'pholife' from the URL so my new looking website has a different path I suppose.
How do i remove the 'www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/pholife/home.html' website all together, i have opened the package contents of iweb in application support but not sure where to start.
Lastly how do i remove the pholife/start so when people go to my website the URL is simply 'www.pholife.co.uk' in the URL bar, would it involve a homemade nav bar?
    Thanks in advance!

Connect to your server and remove the files and folders you do not want there.
In time Google will forget about them.
If that's too much, simply rename the folder of your old site and never mention it to anyone.

  • Iweb Pages not showing correctly on Mac

    Hi you experts..
My site when uploaded to the server shows up as it should using any browser BUT when I open Iweb on my Mac to make changes the pages do not appear as they should with some elements missing or not visible !! This is very frustrating when updating ( not impossible but not a fun experience either ).
Has anyone else experienced this strange behaviour ???

  • Can I use Migration Assistant to Copy files from one mac to another, but not delete the original files off of the original Mac?

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro Retina, and I have an old Macbook Pro w/o Retina and wish to use migration assistant. I still want to use the older Macbook Pro and keep all the files on it, but copy them and also put them on my new Macbook. What I'm trying to say is, can I use migration assistant to move files to a new Mac, while keeping the files on the old computer?

You can omit some broad categories, but you can't pick and choose individual items.
See Using Setup Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion (preferred method), or the similar Using Migration Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion for the gory details.

  • Using iWeb to publish to a non mac account

I guess the question is in the subject.
I'm just wondering if it is possible to use iWeb to create your website, but then send it to a different domain/server?

    nuorder72,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Easily done. Create a new folder on your desktop, and name it for your site. From the file menu in iWeb, choose File/Publish to a folder..., and select this new folder. iWeb will deliever your site, in it's own folder, and the index.html file needed for the site. You will upload both of these as they are to your server, using an ftp client.
Some good tips and more details on this can be found in these notes by Tom Gewecke.

  • IWeb and uploading to a different .mac account

where do I set the settings for the specific .mac account I want the web published to?
I have 2 .mac accounts and I would like to post to both .

I suspect that this is controlled by whatever details are provided in the Account pane for .Mac in System Preferences.

  • IWeb pages stall on loading.

    Problem:
When opening an iWeb page off the internet that I have created, Safari and Firefox constantly fails to load the entire page, forcing me to stop the loading and refresh several time to finish the loading.
The status bar says Loading "http://web.me......." , completed 19 of 21 items -- or something to that effect.
    What gives?

    What is your url?

  • But we can't find the iWeb page you've requested

    This is getting FRUSTRATING!
I have created my iWeb pages, clicked PUBLISH ALL TO .mac I get a CONGRATULATIONS message that it's loaded, I click VISIT SITE, and I get this bloody error message
"We're Sorry but we can't find the iWeb page you've requested" It's possible that:
    · The address was entered incorrectly. Check your spelling and try again.
    · The .Mac member of this name has either created a page and removed it or has never published an iWeb site.
    · There is no .Mac member of this name. If you'd like this member name for yourself, sign up for a .Mac account right now and have your own iWeb site in minutes.
Well, I don't know what the deal is. I have done everything I can think of, I am doing everything I am supposed to do! HELP!!!

Nope. Says does not exist. IT DOES! LOL... trust me.
    http://web.mac.com/kendles/iweb/Welcome.html
There is no site name between "iweb/" and "/Welcome.html, so that url can't be correct. What is the name of your site inside the iWeb app.

  • IWeb - do you need a .Mac account?

I have plenty of web space with my ISP - can I use this with iWeb or do I need a .Mac account? Thanks.

Just a guess . . . but the check to see that the startup page is the right name. It may be index.htm or index.html or default.htm. You can ask your ISP tech support.
If this is the case, I'd suggest you create an alias (or link) to the page that your iWeb is generating, so that you won't have to do that everytime -- you'd just have to copy the files.
    Hope this helps.
