Delete Navigation Attribute fronm Cube

Hi
Are there any complications if I delete (de-activate) a Navigational Attribute in a cube ? Do I also have to delete all data in the cube and re-load it after doing the deletion ?

Hi John,
Yes you will have to Delete the data from the cube first.
Then Delete the Navigational Attribute.
Then Reload the data into the cube.

  • Navigational attribute in Cube

    Hi Gurus,
I want to understand one point before I am going to perform a small enhancement.
I need to set a navigational attribute in a cube(before it is not checked on "I/O") meaning make this navigational attribute behave as a char., but this cube contains data already, my question is :
can I make this change ? if yes any other additional effort?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ryan,
The attr needs to be marked and activated as Navigational Attr in the parent char first. Then you can mark it as nav attr in the cube (which contains the parent char). Does not matter if the cube contains data...you can do this activity in a cube with data. Remember to reactivate the cube's update rules and any multiproviders that it is a part of after you make this change.
    Hope this helps...

  • Delete navigation attributes - error when reactivating MPOS

    Hi Gurus
I have deleted some navigation attributes, and when I try to reactive the MPOS I get an error - however logging has not been switched on initially so I cannot see what's wrong. I have tried to run all possible consistency check on the MPOS, none showed any error. Have you encountered somewhat the same issue?
I hope you can help me
normally you have some good answers
    Best regards,
    Anders Thinggaard

Are you atleast getting any error messages on the screen when you try to activate the MPOS? How do you know you are getting an error?
Let us know the error messages which will be helpful in diagnosing the problem.
    cheers,

  • Transports issue regarding navigational attribute

    Hi,
I used to have some navigational attribues in somecubes and Multiprovider but as per the latest requirement from the customer again converted them as display attributes in masterdata so that automatically removed from cubes and multiprovider with out even our interventions as we know..
So assigned to transport request and transporting into further systems then we r getting error as
"Navigation attribute XYZ  does not (actively) exist
    Message no. R7748"
but when i do check of cube it does not give any error but when i am transporting it is again loooking for those navigational attributes in target system..
I am not sure why it is giving problem like this ...Just i am guessing is it because i did not remove navigational attribute flag first from cube instead of just master data directly ...but that should not be a problem as per my knowledge...
Can any experts reply to me asap if you come accross this kind of problem ....
    Thanks & Rgards,
    BRK

Editted as I understand the solution now.
If you want to delete navigational attributes from a multi provider, cube and master data it needs to be done in the order:
    - remove navigational attribute from MultiProvider
    - remove navigational attribute from Cube
    - set navigational attribute to be display attribute on InfoObject
If you don't follow this order e.g. just set navigational attribute to be a navigational attribute on master data then you get problem where every time you transport cube it says nav. attribute is inactive even though (as far as you can see) the nav. attribute does not exist.
btw, if you have dug yourself into a hole then you need to re-create the navigational attribute on the InfoObject and then add it back to the cube and multiprovider - transport this and then follow correct order.

  • Navigational attribute issue-time dependent

    Hi all,
I am working with 0PA_C01, I included some additional navigational attribute(time dependent )to 0employee, but when i am checking all these navigational attribute at cube level or Report  , i can find only the latest values ,for eg i added  Designation as a time dependent navigational attribute for 0employee, and the designation for a employee is changing after 12.2008 from VP to SVP ,at the cube   and also in the report  i can find only the latest designation for all the calmonth ie before 12.2008 also  as SVP .
I checked  the the time dependent Navigational attribute option to make designation as a time dependent navigational attribute ,and also ran the attribute change run .
Can anyone suggest some information to fix it?
    Thanks
    Sandhya

    Dear Sandya,
Results correct only in your report. Time dependent attributes displyas data based on keydate. if no key date specified, system takes current date as key date and displays data.
So in your case latest data displaying. If you want to see any historic designations, you need to specify key date, which shold fall into that particular range.
Create a User entry variable for keydate and use.
    Key date
Each query has a key date. For time-dependent data, the key date determines the time for which the data is selected.  The default key date value is the date on which the query is executed, that is <Today>.
           1.      Click on the Key Date field. A dialog box with a calendar appears for you to select your key date.
           2.      Select a date from the calendar. If you select 01.01.1999 for example, time-dependent data is read from the 01.01.1999.
    Note
The key date applies only to time-dependent data.

  • Adding navigational attributes to a cube

We have upgraded to BW 7.3. Previously when we added navigational attributes to a cube we need to activate the update rules from the ods but now it appears that we don't need to do that anymore. Is this the expected behavaior?  We are using the 3.5 update rules.
    thanks

    HI,
If you are using 3.5, after selecting nav attr in the cube, the cube structure gets deactivated. The dependent update rules also gets deactivated. You will be forced to activate all again.
In BW 7.3, SAP would have given privilege to add without activation. It is good for us. So nothing to worry.

  • Master data values(navigational attributes) are not turning up in the cubes

    Hi all,
I have a cube, which contains 0cust_sales as master data and i have clicked on the navigational attributes of 0cust_sales like customer grp1, 2,3,4,5 etc
But then i have the 0cus_sales number 6100034 with all the navigational attributes turning up when i look up at the master data in the quality system.
But then for the same customer number i can see the customer number but no navigational attributes are turning up!!
I have activated master data and the master data contents are active!!
Can anyone pls update me on this!!
    Thanks
    Pooja

    Hi
It is not part of dimension only 0CUST_SALES is part of dimension,
And ocust_sales-customer grp1, 2,3,4,5 are navigational attributes in the info cube. I have just included them as navigational attributes enabled in the info cube.
And when i loaded the data for customer say 6111035 from the ods to the cube. I can see the data for customer 6110035 but cant see the navigational attributes getting populated.
But when i look at the same in the master data for 0cust_sales i can see the values for the navigational attributes too!!
    Thanks

  • Navigational attribute in selection screen gives no applicable data

    Hi Gurus
In the report i am using the navigational attribute in the selection screen.e.g Brand (attribute of material)
My problem is whenevr i enter value in the navigational attribute (brand)  in the selection screen and execute  its says no data found.
If i do not fill this parameter and fill only the parent attribute (material)  in the selection screen  , then i can see the results and from its properties  (drilling down )i can see the values of brand .
If the values of brand exist why via selection screen its not giving vales, However Via material i can drill down and see brand values.
I have done all the necessary steps to make this attribute as navigational.
On top of this i have this same navigation attributes as one of the characterisitc in the cube.
    Thanks
    DD

    Hello,
I've the same problem... for new nav. attributes for 0Material.
Settings for nav. attibutes in BEx Q.D. are OK.
    But in BEx Analyzer:
1- not display all values for this attributes. Some values are displayed, some don't.
I try display it with and without selection screen.  The result is the same.
2- I try to display (normal) attributes - not nav. In this case everything is OK.
But I've 2 columns: normal attribute for all values and nav. attribute only with some values...
    (the query is something like: 0Material + 0Material_NOTnav_attr + 0Material_NOTnav_attr)
    It isn't a normal...
I don't know... Maybe it's depend of the time?
I can't clear all master data for 0Material, because they're used in some cubes. I had old characteristic without nav. attr. but with master data. I added nav. attr. in 0Material and activated it. Next I load master data (full method). Then I added nav. attr. in infocube, activated it, delete and load data into the cube (Init + Delta).
If I display data for the cube in RSA1, I can see nav. attr. for all records. I can't see it in BEx Analyzer...
    Can U explain it?
    Thx,
    MSzN

  • Navigational Attributes as Selection Criteria in Infopackage?

Is it possible to use navigational attributes as selection criteria in the infopackage?  I have the MRP cube that only does full loads.  I would like to ONLY load the material type FERT (finished goods).  0MATERIAL has 0MATL_TYPE as a navigational attribute.  I would like to put 0MATL_TYPE in the selection criteria in the infopackage.
If this is possible, please let me know.  The only other way I have come up to do this is to load in one cube and then use and APD to load into another cube.  I would like to avoid this if possible.
    Thanks,
    Brent

    Hi there,
    you can try this:
create a routine in 0material infoobject.
And put this code in the routine after the part where this appears:
    *       Insert source code to current selection field
*$*$ begin of routine - insert your code only below this line        *-*
    data: l_idx like sy-tabix.
    read table l_t_range with key
         fieldname = 'MATNR'.
    l_idx = sy-tabix.
after the *.... delete all the code there and insert this one:
data: i_table like /BI0/PMATERIAL occurs 0 with header line.
      data: t_range TYPE rssdlrange.
    select * from /BI0/PMATERIAL INTO TABLE i_table
      WHERE OBJVERS = 'A' and MATL_TYPE = 'FERT'.
      clear t_range.
      t_range-IOBJNM = '0MATERIAL'.
      t_range-FIELDNAME = 'MATNR'.
      t_range-SIGN = 'I'.
      t_range-OPTION = 'EQ'.
      LOOP at i_table.
        t_range-LOW = i_table-MATERIAL.
        APPEND t_range to l_t_range.
      endloop.
    p_subrc = 0.
Save it and execute the InfoPackage. It might take a while to execute the infopackage.
    Diogo.

  • Performance - navigation attributes

    Hi,
we have a very bad performance with our reports, because we use many navigation attributes. So I want to disable those we don't need.
My question is: Do I have to delete the nav flag in the InfoObject where this navigation attribute was created or is it the same effect for a better query performance when i only disable the navigation attribute in the InfoCube and in the MultiCube (and keep it in the InfoObject active)?
    thx
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
You only need to remove the nav attr from being used in your queries. If it is difficult to control that (due to many users creating their own queries) then you can uncheck the Nav Attr in the cube or mulitprovider. No need to change it at the InfoObject level.
    Hope this helps...

  • Selection generated with Navigational Attribute and store forecast profile

    Hi,
Our business has a requirement that will require for the solution a Forecast Profile to be stored against a selection which was generated with a navigational attribute in the selection. I have found two SAP Notes 329707 and 394076 shown below which point to BAdi /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5 method SEL_CHANGE to do the job. Can anyone help me in understanding what coding we need to do within the BAdi to get this to work. Does anyone have an example?
    SAP Note 329707
    Method:
        SEL_CHANGE  (as of SCM 4.1)
This method can be used to change the selection to be stored in
in the generated selection table. Navigation attributes can be
removed, such as the function of assigning a forecast
profile to the selection can also be allowed for selections with
navigation attribute without a basic characteristic.
        Parameter
         IV_PAREAID      Importing  Type /SAPAPO/TS_PAREAID
         CT_SELECTION    Changing   Type /SAPAPO/TS_IOBJ_SELECTION_TAB
    Sample code:
        DATA: lv_tabix     TYPE sytabix.
        DATA: lt_chars     TYPE /sapapo/dm_int_chars_tab.
        DATA: ls_chars     TYPE /sapapo/dm_int_chars.
        DATA: ls_selection Type /SAPAPO/TS_IOBJ_SELECTION.
        IF iv_pareaid = 'PAREA1'.
          CALL FUNCTION '/SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_SINGLE_GET'
            EXPORTING
              iv_pareaid   = iv_pareaid
            IMPORTING
              et_chars     = lt_chars
            EXCEPTIONS
              not_found    = 1
              OTHERS       = 2.
          CHECK sy-subrc EQ 0.
          LOOP AT ct_selection INTO ls_selection
                              WHERE iobjnm NE '9AVERSION'.
            lv_tabix = sy-tabix.
            READ TABLE lt_chars INTO ls_chars
                                WITH KEY iobjnm = ls_selection-iobjnm.
IF sy-subrc EQ 0 AND NOT ls_chars-atrnavfl IS INITIAL.
               DELETE ct_selection INDEX lv_tabix.
            ENDIF.
          ENDLOOP.
        ENDIF.
    SAP Note 394076
As of Release SCM 4.1, you can use the method SEL_CHANGE of the BadI /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5 to process the selection before saving it to the generated selection tables. This allows you to save selections with navigation attributes, for example, where the selections do not have a specified basis characteristic. You simply need to delete the navigation attributes from the selection.

Is all the Navigational attribute checked for display during cube creatiion?

  • Qn on navigational attributes

    Hello
I have added a navigational attribute to an infoobject, have loaded data in it, and can see the navigational attribute populated.
I have then added the navigational attribute in the cube. The cube is loaded by a DSO.
My qn is - do I need to turn the nav attr on in the DSO as well, and do i have to delete data in the cube and reload, or is loading the master data enough?
    Thanks
    Puja

    Hi,
Loading the master data is enough. Make sure that you turn on the nav attr in the cube though for the data to appear in the report.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Navigational Attributes

    Hi All,
I am creating two new navigational attributes of 0MATERIAL..
One of these navigational attributes should have text and one of them is numeric.
Since I want both of these as navigational so I am not creating the numeric one as KF as I believe if we create an attribute as KF then it is only display attri.
I have decided to create two chars. Create and load their master data (external loading). And check them as navigational attr of 0MATERIAL.
Do we need to delete the entire master data from 0MATERIAL and reload it along with the master data of its new attrbiutes?
Also, what will be the effect of adding these new nav. attri to a char on the cubes that have this characteriatics.
    Regards,
    Sharmishtha

    Hi SB,
As far as I understood you are planning to add few chars (which have their own master data) as nav attrs in an info-object. The stesps would be as follows:
    1. You need to change the extractor and datasource in R/3 and add the additional fields.
    2. In many case the fields are populated using a user exit on the R/3 side.
    3. On the BW side add the new chars as nav attrs in the info-object, make them navigational and activate.
    4. Now replicate the datasource and map the new fields of the datasource and the nav attrs in the transfer rules and ctivate.
    5. Now load the info-object and thus the new nav attrs get the values populated.
    Hope this helps.
    Bye

  • BI-IP / Formula navigation attribute

    Hi,
i have the following problem and hope somebody can help.
I have a BI-IP planing function (Fox-Formula) which simply copies the keyfigure Amount from the characteristic company (#) to the characteristic company (8703).
    { KI_LCCUR, 8703 } = { KI_LCCUR,# }.
this characterisic has also a navigation attribute headquarter.
when i run the function the following error message appears:
8703,# is invalid: Valid is 8703,DE. Characteristic "ZCompany"
which means  to me the master data for charactersitic company 8703 and its attribute Headquarter # is not valid, which is true. But what do i need to do in order to use the right combination 8703,DE?
Is there a way to make fox formula to find the right value for the attribute? is there a way use navigation attribute in fox formule?
Thanks for your help in advance!
    Mike

    Hi,
The problem can be due to the mapping in the cube.
    Please reactivate your cube.
If you are using a multi-provider, then please check that the navigational attribute is defined in all the cubes in mulitprovider.
    Regards,
    Amit
