Delete old files on my video ipod

I am a new ipod user and have a video ipod. I have been downloading podcasts to my ipod for a week or so. Even though in my itunes I keep only the newest episodes, my ipod retains all previous episodes. However, when I go to my ipod in the source list, all the podcast items are de-highlighted and I can not select or delete.
Can someone point me to a way to delete old files on my ipod?

Try this:
In iTunes click on "Podcast", you don't need to have your iPod connected.
Highlight the file you want to delete and press the DELETE key on your keyboard. It will ask if you want to delete the file. If you want to just remove it from your iPod and want to keep the original file on your computer select "Keep Files". If you want to remove from both, select "Move to crcycle bin". This is for PC. If you use a Mac the wording might be slightly different but the principle should be the same.
When you're all done deleting, connect your iPod and the podcasts will be automatically removed from your iPod.

How much data is being backed-up from each Mac? (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room. Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't. Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).

Time Machine SparseDisk Fails to Delete Old Files

I'm running Time Machine on the new 7.3.1 patch and have finally filled the drive. At first everything was going smoothly until I realized that Time Machine is not deleting old files to make room for new ones.
I found this out when I realized Time Machine stop backing up to it because the drive is full. Why is the sparsedisk not getting smaller or making room for newer backups?
Is it because this feature is unsupported?

Delete old files

Hello,
In usual when I create scenarios with file (Inbound or outbound) I sand backup file to backup folder.
I'm looking for easy way to create scenarios or something else that clean the backup folders.
I'm looking for process that clean the older files, for example I want to erase all the files that older then 3 month.
Do you have any idea?

How do I get Time Machine to delete old files?

On threads for earlier operating systems I've seen similar questions, and it seems Apple hasn't resolved the problem that although Time Machine says it will delete old files when the disc is full, it doesn't do it, even though my hard drive has only ~300 GB of files on it and my external hard drive has 1.5 T, it does nothing to delete old files automatically. This hasn't always been the case. The first few entries were deleted awhile back, freeing space, but that has stopped happening. Any suggestions? Do I have to start with a fresh external hard drive?

after full backup.
we use below syntax to delete old file.
delete noprompt archivelog until time '(SYSDATE - 10)';
However, we get a message that file is used and delete failure. ramn stop process.
my question:
does the old archivelog file is deleted ot not?
If the old archivelog file is delete, do we have any command like sql rollback to recover it?
any other commane to recover mis comman in ramn.
or we must recover it?

archivelog from this archivelog backupset.

Incompatible files on my video ipod

Any one got any ideas, I accidentally saved a tv recording from my XP media centre onto my video ipod, and I cannot deleted it!!
I've tried restoring the OS which would erase all files, but I get the error message 1428??
Any help appreciated.

Error Message: Corrupt file/folder on Video Ipod

As of this morning I can't update my video ipod via the latest version of Itunes. It won't allow me to sync podcasts, put music on or even video. The error message is: File or Folder Corrupted.
Has anyone seen something like this before? It played fine last night. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!

Manual delete old files before package installation?

This is more a general or best practice question.
I installed a python program (gnoduino) manually some time ago using:
python setup.py build install
I found out that this program is available via AUR and it would be comfortable to use the AUR version.
So what should I do now. Manually delete everything that the python installer installed, with hope not to forget anything. And after that install via AUR?
Or leave it installed and start the install process via AUR and "overwrite" the old files?
In the first case: How do I delete everything?

And I know that the python files reside in "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gnoduino".
Delete these files and I'm fine?

Best practice would be to rebuild that package and uninstall, or use the built but not installed copy to locate and remove the files.
Bad practice and also my method would be to install with the -f flag and overwrite it.
However this could lead to breakage and more work if it goes wrong.

CS5 Bridge - Windows. Can't delete old files

I have no trouble deleting new files but have tried every method and old tif and psd files refuse to delete. Can it be because files uploaded on CS3 can't be deleted using CS5?

I know that some files will leave bits and pieces around after I have put them in the trash and clicked "empty trash". How do I permanently delete these files? Once you delete something it's gone ...at least as far as the system is concerned. You can use 'Secure Empty Trash' from the Finder drop-down menu to more thoroughly delete something. If an item is still lingering around ...perhaps you only deleted a part of it and it may have extra files in other locations.

After accepting update to my time capsule, I can no longer complete a backup because there is not enough space. I tried deleting old files, but it doesn't seem to work. Any advice:

How much space is there according to airport utility?
TM can be fussy.. Do a factory reset of the TC and give it a new name. Use short, no space and pure alphanumeric type names..
And reset TM. See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Then set up TM again to the TC and see if TM will start .. the reset will not hurt the backup and TM can still find it on a renamed TC.

BDB Never Deletes Old Files

We've been running a BDB with 3 tables, 2 of which are approx. 25MM rows, and a 3rd that is 1.5MM rows. The entire DB is now up to over 40GB, and consists of 449 files. We have not adjusted the default setting for the cleaner to clean up files that are under 50% utilization.
Of our 449 files, about 250 of them are the original files written back in October of 2010. Very few, if any, have been removed. Then, after this group of October 2010 files, the next oldest file is March 2011

The file name is also far far beyond the end of where the initial file set ended. This doesn't seem right to me at all. I would expect that we would have files dated throughout the entire range of dates from October 2010 thru now. However, it seems that our October 2010 files never get replaced, but our new files do get replaced relatively routinely (how else can we explain no files from November, December, January, February?). Considering new files should be mostly, if not all valid data, I would think our old files would be much more apt to cleanup than our new files. So, can anyone clue me in to what I should be looking for to explain this phenomenon?

Ran DbSpace, and suspicions seem to be confirmed. Of the 250 October 2010 files, the first 163 are over 80% utliization. This I can understand, b/c the first table loaded has small records that are rarely updated. However, the next 90of the 250 October 2010 files are below the 50% utilization mark, and have not yet been cleaned up. Furthermore, there are many files after the October 2010 files that are well below 50% utilization. Thoughts?
