Delete Old Network Name

I bought a new Airport Extreme and set it up with a new network name.  My airport express extenders wont join as they look for the old network name.  How do i delete the old network name?

You need to hold in the reset button on the AirPort for 10 seconds, then release and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart.
At that point, the device is back to to factory settings, just like it was when you first took it out of the box.
Now, it is time to set up the AirPort Express again......like you did the first time.

The wifi sync button is greyed out and it says that I will be able to sync once connected to <previous network name>
How can I change the default network I use?

    go to,
Settings > Wi-Fi > select your new network name and join the network (by entering the password for it)
you should now be on your new network
For completeness, you could delete your old network by,
Settings > Wi-Fi > click on your old network name > Forget Network
I hope that this fixes things for you.

  • This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of server

This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. I have a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.6.8. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of servers and trying to reconnect this way. These methods have worked temporarily, but the same problem keeps coming back. Most of the time my personal wireless connection does not even come up among the list of available networks. My fellow flatmates have PCs and both of them are able to connect to the network without problem.
The router is a d-link model DIR-615. I am not tech savy, so if any other information need to be provided in order to better understand my situation, please let me know.
    Please help me!

If I open the list of networks in a window it says "connection timeout," but if I just select it from the drop down it tries for awhile and then stops with no prompt. When I try to run network diagnostics it says "sorry, we can't connect to the internet" (or some solution-free variation of that)

  • Deleting old folder names

I am using Image Capture 4.0 to download photos.  When I plug in my storage device (camera, SD card, USB stick, etc.) Image Capture opens and along with the option to select the download folder, all the names of the folders (grayed out) I have used since I first started using the computer appear.  These are folders I no longer use, but to get to the actual area or folder that I want to download to, I have to scroll past a couple hunderd previous, grayed out folder names.  Once I get to the actual desired folder, I can download to it. But, those annoying, old folder names still appear on the hard drive. Anyway to get rid of them?  Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

When in Image Scan & you click on Scan Setup, what folder is that set to?
If that doesn't help, quit Image Capture & Trash this file...

  • How do I delete old network connections?

I'm adding some new computers to my network and have discovered a mess of old connections in the network preferences. I'd like to delete the old ones in order to keep things a neat and tidy as I can.
However, I can't seem to find a way to delete them individually.
Is there some way to see all your network connections in a list or something and delete those outdated or no longer needed? I can find them individually using network preferences, but even then there does not seem to be a delete feature.

    Hi--
You can delete locations in the Network Preferences. From the "Location" menu, choose "Edit Locations..." and you'll get a little box with your locations. There's a "Delete" button there. If the "Edit Locations..." menu item is greyed out, just click the little lock in the lower left of the pane to open it, supply your password, and you should be in business.

  • How do I delete old wifi networks from appearing in the wifi icon in the menu bar.

Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule and is up and running OK.
When I click on the wifi icon in the menu bar all my old wifi networks appear
which are then viewable by neighbours although the networks themselves are PW protected.
In system preferences>network>advanced I have deleted all my old N/Works allowing only
    my new one to appear.
How can I delete the old networks I no longer use from re-appearing in the list under the wifi icon?
    Alan

When you delete old networks in System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced, be sure to click the OK button, then click the Apply button in the next window that appears.
You also need to delete the old networks in KeyChain Access as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Click on the name of an old wireless network to highlight it
Click the Delete key on your Mac
Do the same for other old wireless networks that you no longer use, then restart your Mac.

  • Failover Cluster Network Name Failed and Can't be Repaired

I have an issue that seem to be a different problem than any others have encountered.
I've scoured everything I can find and nothing has fixed my problem.
The problem starts with the common problem of the cluster network name failing on my 2 node server 2012 file server cluster.  The computer object was still in AD and appeared to be fine so it was not the common problem of the object
getting deleted somehow.  At the time, there was no other object with that name in the recycling bin, so I don't think it was mistakenly deleted and quickly recreated to cover any tracks, so to speak.
Following one guide, I tried to find the registry key that corresponded with the GUID of the object, but neither node in the cluster had it in its registry (which may be part of the problem).
Since it was in the failed state, I tried to do the repair on the object to no avail.
We run a "locked down" DC environment so all computer objects have to be pre-provisioned.  They were all pre-provisioned successfully and successfully assigned during cluster creation.  The cluster was running with no issues for a month
or so before this problem came up.
When I do a repair on the object while taking diagnostic logs the following 4609 error appears:
The action 'Repair' did not complete. - System.ApplicationException: An error occurred resetting the password for 'Cluster Name'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Unknown error (0x80005000)
There appears to be a corresponding 4771 error with a failure code 0x18 that comes from the security log of the DC that states there was a Kerberos pre-authentication failure for the cluster network name object (Domain\Clustername$)
I believe this is what is causing the repair failure.  All the information I found related to security error 4771 was either a bad credentials given for a user account or the fix was to reconnect the computer to the domain.  I can't seem to find
a way to do this with the cluster network name.  If there's a way please let me know.
I've tried a number of things, like resetting the object, disabling it, deleting and creating a new object with the same name, deleting that new object and recovering the original, etc...
Can anyone shed some light on what is going on and hopefully how to fix it other than rebuilding the cluster?  I'm quite close to just tearing it down and building it back up but am hesitant because this cluster in currently in production...
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi,
I don’t find out the similar issue with yours, base on my experience, the 4096 error
often caused by the CSV disk issue, and the 0x80005000 error some time caused by the repetitive computer object in OU. Please check the above related part or run the validate test then post the error information.
Although I do have a CSV, there doesn't seem to be any problems with it and it was running just fine for a month or so before the problem started.  I double checked and there is no duplicate computer objects, maybe I don't understand what you mean by
    repetitive, could you explain further?
The cluster validates successfully with a few warnings:
    Validating cluster resource Name: DT-FileCluster.
This resource is marked with a state of 'Failed' instead of
'Online'. This failed state indicates that the resource had a problem either
coming online or had a failure while it was online. The event logs and cluster
logs may have information that is helpful in identifying the cause of the
    failure.
    - This is because the cluster name is in the failed state
Validating the service principal names for Name:
    DT-FileCluster.
The network name Name: DT-FileCluster does not have a valid
value for the read-only property 'ObjectGUID'. To validate the service principal
name the read-only private property 'ObjectGuid' must have a valid value. To
correct this issue make sure that the network name has been brought online at
least once. If this does not correct this issue you will need to delete the
    network name and re-create it.
    - This is definitely related to the problem and the GUID probably got removed when we attempted a fix by resetting the object and trying the repair from the failover cluster manager.
The user running validate, does not have permissions to create
computer objects in the 'ad.unlv.edu' domain.
    - This is correct, we run a restricted domain.  I have a delegated OU that I can pre-provision accounts in.  The account was pro-provisioned successfully and was at one point setup and working just fine.
There are no other errors nor warnings.

    Hi Wasem,
Confirm first your reports are transported to BW PRD,if transported successfully to BW PRD.
Then manually delete report by open that report in query designer by simple choose delete option from  query menu.It will prompt to collect in a request.Keep in mind do not transport that request to BW PRD.Just delete that request in BW Dev system.

  • How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme? My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured" and my AirPort tool on my PC will not permit me to add my new Airport Extreme network (no network names to choose from)

How to connect old aiport express to my new Airport Extreme?
I have a PC running with Win7 and just replaced my Jensen With a brand New Airport Extreme.
I have set up the Airport Extreme to the internet, Iphones and Ipads and it work as it should.
I have downloaded latest Version of Airport tool on my PC. In addition i have downloaded the airport tool for Ipad.
I have reset one of my airport Express and it now shows up both on the Ipad and on the PC airport tool.
My Ipad says "base station e5713b cannot be configured."
I have wired the airport Express to my Ethernet to be able to "see it" on my Airport tool.
My AirPort tool on the PC will not permit me to add the airport Express to my new Airport Extreme network (no network names on the drop-down list to choose from). I wished for an easy set-up, but nothing seems to be plug and play as the Commercial says.. can you please help me?
    Sigve

    Hi
    Thanks for Swift reply.
Yep - I in fact have two A1088 and one A1264
I actually bought the new router because the Jensen
router always lost connection to the Airport Express after some hours or days. I
always needed to restart my Jensen to play music and that was driving my wife
mad. The hope was that the Extreme should fix this. Both A1088 have been set up
to only stream music to two of my stereo amplifiers from my PC’s Itunes library.
    Are the A1088 now useless?
The A1264 has been set up to feed internet into a Denon Reciever that needed Ethernet cable.
    Please advise
    Regards
    Sigve

  • I have successfully merged multiple iphoto libraries using iphoto-manager.  Now I have multiple albums noted with the old iphoto names.  CAN I DELETE THOSE?

Now that I have merged multiple iphoto libraries into one -- can I delete the albums that show up with the old library names?

You can do what ever you want - in iPhoto albums are simply pointers to photos so deleting an album has no effect except the album is gone - only when you delete from events or photos view is the photo deleted from the library and disk (after you empty the iPhoto trash and the system trash)

  • I want to upgrade my old airport express to the new express. Can I just switch out the old for the new or must I delete the old network first and start from scratch with the new express?

I want to upgrade my old airport express to the new express. Can I just switch out the old for the new or must I delete the old network first and start from scratch with the new express?

It is not necessary to delete your old wireless networks first, but doing so may eliminate confusion. If you wish to do that, open System Preferences > Network, and select Wi-Fi from the left column. Click the Advanced... button, then select your old wireless networks and delete them with the "–" (minus) button. Make sure the "Remember networks this computer has joined" remains checked.
    OK then Apply.
This prevents your Mac from searching for your previous network which will no longer exist.
A new Express creates an open wireless network that you must select before you can configure it. It appears in your Wi-Fi menu like this:
Select it. AirPort Utility will load and walk you through its configuration.
Edit: If you are really using OS X 10.5.1 as shown in your profile, the above screenshot is not applicable. Instead, select the network called "Apple network nnnnnn" and then launch AirPort Utility.

sorry to ask again, but my wireless hasn't worked in months,,

airport is connected to the ethernet network,,, i deleted old netwrok in system preferences,

    Any help?
    Thanks

I recently went in the other direction, from Verizon to Comcast.  After much head-scratching and trouble-shooting, I did a "factory default reset" to the Airport.  Then, all that was necessary was to connect to the modem and accept all of the recommendations on Airport Utility.
Be forewarned that Airport devices have THREE different resets.

  • How do I delete Network names

I have been trying to install !@#$$% time capsule unsuccessfully and have ended up with many network names from failed attempts. I'm so confused as to which is which. How do I delete them and start over. I actually had it running once then decided to get fancy and use a shorter ethernet cable which turned out to be defective. So i'm back with the original cable now but in the process I reset my DSL modem (!@#Bell)and timecapsule and nothing works again. So now I just want to start from Scratch. Can anyone help. I've used windows for years but this new mac is a whole new ball game for me.
    Pharmercist

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
I am not familiar with TimeCapule and there is a separate forum for it:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=140
But I know that once I had a similar problem with my Airport Express box and found, buried in the instructions, how to perform a complete reset. It may be the same -
This restores Airport Express to factory settings and removes any and all profiles that are set up.
    1. Unplug the unit.
    2. Using the straightened end of a paperclip, hold down the reset button while plugging in the unit.
I don't know if this will help, but it might. Otherwise, check into the TC forum.
