Delete old posts
does anyone know how to delete old posts on this forum?
i changed my username awhile back because i had used my real name, but i have just noticed that some of my old posts still have my real name
thanks
If you can, post a link to the profile for your old Alias. One of the hosts will take a look and should be able to remove the posts for you.

Is there a way of getting rid of the posts in my account that have been solved? John
You mean marking them "solved" so they don't appear in the little question mark bubble box in the bottom-right corner of the windlow saying: "you have xx unsolved questions"?
I only know one way: go to those posts and mark them as "solved" (click the solved button right next to the reply button in one of the answer windows.)
If you mean deleting the post from the board entirely - that would be contrary to the board's purpose. People need to be able to search and browse (and learn from) old questions and answers so that the same questions doesn't have to be answered again and again. Many people don't do this but one really SHOULD search any new question first, before posting it. Saves a lot of time and effort for everyone.

Ical/isync deletes old posts on N95??
Hi
When i Sync N95 with Ical (v. 3.0.5.) using Isync(v 3.0.2.), all post older than 2 monts are deleted from the phone?? Any way to avoid that? And that's fine (that it won sync old tasks), but apparently it also means that it deletes whatever it Isync defines as old tasks (in my case older than two months), for no reason in my opinion. I tried different ways in the "more options" to solve the problem, nothing helped though?
Any good suggestions ? -
I want to delete all my old post!!

You can't delete your account. The moderators usually won't delete your posts unless they violate the terms of use.

Maverick TimeMachine deletes old weekly backups with no reason
Hi,
I use 10.9.4 and I found that TimeMachine deletes old weekly backups so that there are now 14-days backups.
I see no reason.
To make it clearer: Old backups from 2014-04-18, 2014-05-02, 2014-05-23, 2014-06-13 and 2014-06-27 were deleted.

MarkusI was about to try this, but the problem was solved - by updating to ML DP3. Time Machine was able to report more specifically a UUID mismatch - which was strange as there had been no hardware changes:
Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: MacBook Air
Deep event scan at path:/ reason:must scan subdirs|new event db|
Finished scan
Found 360330 files (16.14 GB) needing backup
21.25 GB required (including padding), 17.99 GB available
Deleted backup /Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/MacBook Air/2012-05-06-132701.inProgress/36723EA8-68F9-4519-A71B-426EEEE06222 containing 896.2 MB; 18.88 GB now available, 21.25 GB required

Removed 2 expired backups so far, more space is needed - deleting oldest backups to make room
Deleted backup /Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/MacBook Air/2011-10-08-102105 containing 10.75 GB; 29.63 GB now available, 21.25 GB required
Deleted 3 backups containing 11.64 GB total; 29.63 GB now available, 21.25 GB required
Backup date range was shortened: oldest backup is now 15 Oct 2011
Copied 2.7 MB of 16.14 GB, 106708 of 360330 items
Copied 5.6 GB of 16.14 GB, 360849 of 360849 items
Bulk setting Spotlight attributes failed.
Copied 394370 files (8.46 GB) from volume
Upshot is that after many hours it's back, and the sparseimage has been verified.
If it's of any use to anyone finding this, I would say that the solution seems to have been a Mac OS reinstall - which is counter-intuitive, but if all else fails, give it a go! -
Time Machine Deletes Old Backups without warning!!
I have just lost loads of pictures and emails when my Timemachine deleted old backups. I was so happy to have an easy way to keep my iPhoto cleaned up while keeping all the photos for the future. I would load my all the photos from my camera, backup with TimeMachine and delete the "bad" unwanted photos, confident in the knowledge that these pictures are still there on my external. I looked forward to some future date when someone would write an easy piece of software to consolidate old iPhoto libraries and even go through TimeMachine and consolidate those photos too. But until that fantasy event, my pictures, even though not wanted were still there.
Not any more!!
I replaced my hard drive and reloaded my laptop from Timemachine and I think that was the event that sparked the dump.
There should be a special check box to make sure that NO backups are automatically deleted, EVER. They should be a way to make them Sacred!!
There should be a way to create a separate backup just for iPhoto because right now, there are no good ways to easily break apart or merge iPhoto libraries. At least what I was doing worked, (well.... until it didn't).
Any ideas??nerowolfe wrote:
True, TM is not a classic archival system, but until the drive is full, the difference is moot.
No, the difference isn't moot.
I still have on my TM HD every file I ever had because it's only 1/2 full.
No, you don't. Read on...
Time machine has three levels of backups:
1) hourly - deleted after 24 hours
2) daily - deleted after a week
3) weekly - deleted only when the disk is full - these are the only deletions you will be warned about
Time machine is always deleting files. Every time it backs up, it deletes files.
But the OP's real question is why he was never warned about the old backups being deleted, as TM says it will do, archival stuff notwithstanding. Apparently TM simply ignores the user's request to be warned.
No, it doesn't.
That being said, as I asked in a post not too long ago, "how many have had a warning from TM that old backups are being deleted?" as one would expect when the TM preference box, "Warn when old backups are deleted" is checked.
It appears to me to be a bug.
I ask again if anyone has gotten this warning.
Nobody answered my previous post with a yes.
Yes.
Because Time Machine continually cleans up behind itself, it tries very hard to ever delete the weekly backups. The only time I've gotten the deletion warning was when my disk was full. I think I just avoided the problem by removing my old Parallels images from Time Machine and got back an extra 70 gig or so - good for another six months.
This is not a bug. This is how Time Machine works. It is unfortunate that the original poster did not fully understand this. The fact is that Time Machine backs everything up. If you create 100 files, it backs up the folder with 100 new files. If you delete 100 files, it backs up the folder with 100 less files. Then, the next day, it deletes old backups. The only one it keeps is the last one, with 100 less files.
It is correct to say that Time Machine is not an archival system. It is a backup system. If you want to save your files forever, you need to copy them to a location that isn't under the control of any sort of automatic software. -
I have a previous generation 2TB Time Capsule shared by three of us, each with separate accounts.
I know there's not much space left on the Time Capsule and that it's therefore expected that Time Machine would make room by deleting old backups. But my account seems stuck forever on these deletions (for over 72 hours now), while the other two accounts on the Time Capsule are working just fine.
I've been through Pondini's recommendations for (a) patience and (b) finally resetting Time Machine, but on it goes.
Here is the last couple of hours of the log (filtered for this problem). The entire log for the last 72 hours is too long to post -- but the pattern is the same, with the constant deletions barely making a dent, and sometimes in fact the space available decreases.
I'd cheerfully give up on the oldest backups, but meanwhile it's been 8 days since TC has been able to complete a backup. (I have been cloning the drive daily with SuperDuper just to make sure I have a fallback until this is figured out.)
Hoping one of you can recommend a course of action.
Thanks in advance for any help...

Deleting old messages in Messages Beta
On the iPad and iPhone, deleting old messages is easy. On Mac, the "cut" key is inactive and whatever I do (including deleting iChat files storing messages) old messages keep coming back every time opening Messages Beta. How do I get rid of them once for all?
HI,
From within the app it is not possible in the Beta
However using the Finder as the "Front" app use the Go Menu and Hold the ALT key and then chose th Library.
In the Library go to the Messages folder and delete chat.db - just drag it to the Trash
Restart Messages

When doing show logging ion ise i get logs from 2 years ago. I need to delete old logs entries.do have any idea?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad AppKhaled,
The show logging command through CLI will show you the logging of the ADE-OS, not the ISE Application. This shows all logged entries from the installation of the ISE. to see what other operations are available through the show logging command, type sh logging ?:
To delete the local logs, you must log in through the WebGUI and navigate to Administration > System > Logging. Click Local Log Settings in the left menu. You can then set the duration to keep the logs and can even click on Delete Local Logs Now if you want to completely purge the local logs. NOTE that this will only delete the logs local to the ISE and NOT on any remote logging server.
ISE 1.1.x:
ISE 1.2:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8Thanks for your help. I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

Deleteing Old Purchasing Attachments
Hello All,
We currently have A LOT of old purchase order attachments in our purchasing system. These are all kinds of files (.xls, .doc, .jpg, .pdf, etc. etc.) attached to requisitions and purchase orders. They are taking up a lot of space in our database (we think.) I can't find any documentation about managing these attachments
My questions are:
- How are these files stored? I think think they are large chunkc of ORABLOB data (or somthing) in the database somewhere... is there a table where these are?
- What is an effective way to delete old attachments?
Another question: Everytime a buyer runs a 'Print PO' program, it generates a .pdf output file. I think all these .pdfs are saved with the PO... is this so? And, if so, is there an effective way to manage those? Can I delete those somehow?
Any information or insight in hopw to effectively manage and maintain the Purchasing attamnets is much appreciated.
Thanks,
MarkThank Gareth.
Using fnd_documents_pkg.delete_row seems a bit scary. Have you thought of posting an example on your blog on how the fnd_documents_pkg.delete_row might look? It would have to clean it out from fnd_lobs as well.
Anyway...thank for your input.

Time Machine SparseDisk Fails to Delete Old Files
I'm running Time Machine on the new 7.3.1 patch and have finally filled the drive. At first everything was going smoothly until I realized that Time Machine is not deleting old files to make room for new ones.
I found this out when I realized Time Machine stop backing up to it because the drive is full. Why is the sparsedisk not getting smaller or making room for newer backups?
Is it because this feature is unsupported?ringoiphone wrote:
Thanks. Although the reset did nothing, by deleting enough old backups (a VERY slow process) I could get it to free enough space for another backup. It's not clear to me why it cannot do this automatically.
Time Machine will delete old backups, if it can. So something must be wrong. See #C4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If nothing there helps, a clue may be lurking in your logs. Use the widget in #A1 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs. Locate the backup in question, then copy and post all the messages here. -
Deleting FB Posts and capturing FB photos.... question
Hopefully someone can help me with this... on the old version of FB on my Droid X, I used to be able to delete FB posts that are either on my profile, or that I have posted on other people's wall. I can't seem to do that anymore.
Also, I used to be able to long press pictures that my sister posted on her wall and save them to my SD card. I can't do that anymore either. Is this not an option anymore? Or is there a different way to do it now?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!were you just browsing to facebook website previously? Might be that you could still delete posts if you used your browser to go to the website directly.
Probably the same thing for long press , copy and paste ok photos.
