Delete or hide old unwanted apps in iTunes Version 12.1.1.4

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but over several years and several itouch, iphones and now an ipad I tried several free apps that I latter decided I didn't like or didn't want to pay the maintenance fee so I deleted the apps from the device but with then new iTunes I can't even figure out how to hide them.
I'm finding some updates to iTunes nice but others a huge pain in the behind can some one help me hide unwanted apps from the list in iTunes 12.1.1.4.  To be honest I would prefer to delete them totally but as near as I can tell you can't.  Can someone please help me hide them, do I don't hit the little cloud icon on an app in the app store, and re-install the app I don't want.

You are welcome. Can you select iTunes in the Music Folder and take a screen shot of it? Use the Camera icon to post the screen shot in a reply.

how to delete unwanted apps from itunes cant figure it out

What do you mean delete from iTunes? You can't do that on an iPad. You can delete apps in iTunes on a computer. If you want to delete an app on the iPad, tap and hold down on the icon until the icon wiggles, then tap the  X appears on the icon to delete the app. Tap the home button when finished.
You really need to explain in more detail what you wNt to do. Maybe this will help.

    Hey TIFF 1982,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities. If I understand your question correctly, it sounds like you basically wish to delete applications from your iPad. The following resource outlines how to do so:

  • Old Unwanted Apps reinstall themselves

I've had this issue for a few weeks.
On the iPhone - I go to the app store icon and it may tell me that an installed app has an upgrade. When I click to upgrade the app all of a sudden it seems like every single app I ever downloaded starts installing and installed apps re-install. I end up with a lot of pages of unwanted apps. I then have to go to each app individually to re-uninstall it. I fear upgrading any app at all.
Other notes... This happens without connecting to itunes on the computer. My iPhone is only sync to one computer. I have unchecked any unsyncing automatically options.
After this happened again... I connected the iphone to my computer, and deleting things from there and uncheck any auto syncing options. I also unchecked the "check for downloads" thing in itunes.
After much frustration - I took the nuclear option and "Erase all Content and Settings". Re-connected to itunes, etc, etc. My iphone was back to almost where it was.
Now just yesterday, I had an app that needed an upgrade. Should I press the upgrade button or not? Yes or no? OK, I pressed it. And, darnit, it happened again. All these old apps that were uninstalled on my iPhone and from iTunes started re-installing themselves.
    Any advice?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ray

Didn't work. I just signed in on the iPhone (not signed in on iTunes). One app needed updating. I did NOT click "update all", but instead updated it using the app screen itself and followed the link.
I put my password in and it began to download... moments later all those old apps even for years ago started to download. But let me say... they are not really downloading.. they are all paused. But you can't delete them until they completely download. And one more thing... Even some of my current (wanted) apps are reinstalling themselves.
    Very frustrating.

  • How do I delete all or multiple synced apps from iTunes where the app has already been removed from iPad?

I have recently purchased the latest iPad and been trying lots of apps.  These apps are synced with iTunes on a regular basis.  I want to delete synced apps from my iTunes backup that I have removed from my iPad.
I am aware of a manual way of removing apps from the iTunes backup but it is far too painful and cumbersome.  You have to select the iPad under devices, click the apps tab up the top, and then see which items are not ticked (which runs very slow I might add, but it is a big list).  After noting them down, I then visit the apps section under library on the left, highlight all the unwanted apps, right click and delete.
Unless there is some special way of doing this that I am un aware of, it would be really helpful if the libary application view had a column which informed me which ones were still on my iPad.  I could then sort by that column, and then delete all the removed apps.

Yes, delete all the apps currently in iTunes, then transfer all the apps currently on the iPad back into iTunes. Of course it will take some time to sync the apps back into iTunes, but it satisfies your desire to remove all apps from iTunes that are not on your iPad without the need to laboriously note what is and is not there. In fact as a bonus after removing all the apps from iTunes you could open the ..\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications folder and delete any remaining orphaned files that might still be there, before you transfer purchases.

  • If I hide my purchased apps on iTunes, will the pops still appear on my ipad

I have hidden the apps on itunes(on the computer) pressed the 'x' to exit, checked on my ipad to see if the apps were hidden after all and they weren't! Why is this so??

First of all, I read your original post and I saw the instructions that you used to hide your purchases. With all due respect to pvonk, I'm not so sure I would have understood what he meant when he gave you the directions.
Did you log into your  iTunes account on your computer and go into Purchased in order to hide the apps?

  • Remove an unwanted app from Itunes account - ipad 1 - IOS 5.1.1

How can I remove an app from my Itunes account? I have deleted it from my Ipad but it still shows in the list on ITunes. I read some other helps that said press delete with the app highlighted but that just causes the computer to beep and nothing happens.
    Larry

You should be able to delete the app in iTunes.
Launch iTunes. Click on Apps under the Library heading. Find the app in the window on the right, right click on and select delete from the contextual menu. Follow the prompts to totally delete it.
Do this without connecting the iPad to your computer.

  • I recently brought a new HP laptop and I downloaded the newly updated iTunes on it; however I have an old Aver laptop with iTunes version 10.7 on it or the one before iTunes 11 came out. How can I transfer my movies from the old version to the new one?

I recently brought a new HP laptop and downloaded iTunes 11 on it. My old laptop which is a Acer has iTunes version 10.7, I believe. I wanted to know, How can I transfer 18 movies from the old iTunes onto my new Itunes? It only shows the most recent two movies when I look at the purchases in my account. I had a lot of moves downloaded last year from the old version and would like some assistance on how to get all those movies into my iTunes 11 library. Thank you.

you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
    you should have all intact.
    Post if any problems.

  • Delete a free previously downloaded app from iTunes

There is a free game "garden of times" that will no longer work for some users.  The developers are aware that their last version caused problems for some of the users, but they have elected to not do anything for the users that have the problem with a server error. New users who download this game have no problems in downloading and playing the game.  What is needed to once again play this game is for iTunes not to recognize that this game was previously downloaded which would then allow users experiencing the server problem to re-download as if the app is "new".  Is there a way for "free" games to be deleted completely from iTunes?  Don't want to hide it....want to delete the game completely from any history so it can be downloaded again as new. I feel certain that if this is doable this would be the "fix" that the developers can't fix for numerous users.  Read the reviews for this app which goes into more info of the problem.

You can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button)  and explain your situation to them.
BTW, this forum is for questions about iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. Normally you want to ask your questions in the general iTunes forums.

  • Old unwanted apps in purchased list

    hi,
just wondering if there is any way at all to remove free apps that i have deleted from my purchased list on the app store? Would really appreciate suggestions/ solutions on how to do this. thanks

You can hide them so that they don't show, but they can't currently be deleted. In iTunes on your computer, if you go into the Purchased link on the iTunes store home page, if you then hover your mouse pointer over an app you should get an 'x' in the app's top left corner - click that and the app will be hidden from that screen.
Similarly on your iOS device you should be able to swipe across the app in the Purchased tab in the App Store app (I can on my iPad anyway) and you should then get a 'Hide' button which will hide it on that device
