Delete passwords in Safari 6?

The new pane in Prefs in Safari lists some URL; usersames, passwords.
But it seems impossible to delete these, individually, or as a whole. WHen I click ok in the Warning-window. Nothing more is happening.
How can one get rid of this?

Select the website url then click Remove or Remove All.   (I don't see OK when I try this, just Remove All).
Quit Safari then relaunch. If it won't quit, click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Force Quit or Command + Option + Esc on your keyboard.
If you have a third party password manager installed, that may be inteferring with the data stored in the Passwords pane.

  • Cannot delete saved passwords in Safari on Yosemite

I am unable to remove any passwords from Safari (from the Passwords tab in Preferences). This is on Yosemite.
I have tried the solution outlined here: Yosemite Safari won't let me delete/change passwords, but it appears to make no difference.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Might be easier to find the passwords stored in Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities
Launch Keychain Access then select passwords on the left
Type in the name of a website you need the password for in the search field top right corner of that window.
Then right or control click that keychain then select the Attributes tab.
    Click:  Show password
(You may be prompted for your admin password)

  • Can't delete my saved passwords from Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8

When the bugs in 1Password initially disabled that application on Safari 5.1 I started saving manually entered passwords on Safari while 1Password was being fixed. Now that 1Password is working I want to remove the saved passwords on Safari as a secirity precaution.  But they won't delete; not individually, not as a group. When I click Remove All the passwords all turn blue as if about to be deleted en mass but don't disappear. Trying it by highlighting one and clicking Remove doesn;t work either.  Any suggestions?

You are much better off using the Mac OS X app Keychain Access which is pre installed on your Mac instead of a third party password manager.

Your passwords are not stored in Safari per se, they are stored in Keychain Access.  /Applicatiions/Utilities. Trying to use both is causing a conflict.

  • Can't remove saved passwords from Safari

Using 10.10.1, Safari 8.0, upgrade from Snow Leopard.
When I try to Remove one or all passwords in Safari's Passwords prefpane, nothing happens. How do I fix this?
In a possibly related issue, when I try to delete the X509Anchors keychain file in Keychain Access, nothing also happens.

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

Open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the website name top right corner of that window.
Control click the website keychain then click Delete.
Back to Safari > Preferences > Passwords
    Delete that website.
Navigate to the same site on Safari. Enter your user name and new password.
Click Yes when prompted to save that data to a new keychain. That information should now be updated in Safari > Preferences > Passwords.

Look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash logs related to Safari, WebProcess, or PluginProcess. Select the most recent one of each and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.)

  • Need to set a password for safari

I would appreciate any assistance in setting a password with Safari.
    thank you

Actually you can set a password, but the way to do it is a bit awkward.
Set up a separate user account and then using parental controls, set limitations for Safari.
We did this for my son(teenager) so he could only be on the internet while we are home.
When he tried to access Safari and a few other applications, it prompts for the Administrator name and password to allow access.
    I hope this has helped.

If it was on your iPad when you last backed up then you can try restoring to that backup - you will need to restore the whole iPad, you can't just restore a single app. Otherwise no, you can't recover it
