Delete photos in an album

Using iOS 8.1.3 on an iPad.
In Photos, I can delete all photos, except the ones that I have put in an album.
Can't figure out how to either delete the whole album or individual pictures in it.
Not using iCloud.

Hey Richard,
It may be that the affected photos have been synced from your computer. If this is the case, then they can be deleted by turning off photo syncing in iTunes as detailed below.
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
Click Apply.

I have pictures in albums on my iphone.  I want to delete them from one album but when I try it asks to delete the picture from all locations.  I only want to delete it from 1 album.  Is this possible to do?

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll.  If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo.  This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

  • When I edit and/or delete photos from an album in iPhoto is there a way to make that what happens in the folder in finder?

When I edit and/or delete photos from an album in iPhoto is there a way to make that what happens in the folder in finder? I am new to Mac. I've updated the operating system and iPhoto.

If your iPhoto Advanced preference pane is setup like this
all photos you import into the library are COPIED into the library.  Thus those photos in the folders outside of iPhoto are redundant and can be deleted to save space on your hard drive. There no need to keep those copies in the folders.
If you do have your advance preferences set as shown above you can access your photos for use outside of iPhoto according to the following User Tip by Terence Devlin which is the best treatise on how to access photos (for use outside of iPhoto):  How to Access Files in iPhoto.  Otherwise you access your photos from within iPhoto.

  • How is the album and folder connected and when I delete photos from the album it also deletes from the folder?

How is the album and folder connected and when I delete photos from the album it also deletes from the folder?

In what application? iPhoto? If so: what version?

  • HT4528 delete photos from an album

How do you delete photos from an album which is not part of the camera roll?

You'll have to that on the computer you use to sync your photos with. After you deleted or deselected the photos or folders that you don't want anymore in the photo pane in iTunes, syncing will remove them from your phone.

  • Can't delete photos in smart album view

Assuming we all know how smart albums work, let's jump to why I can't delete a photo from a smart album. In all other views, it seems, I can delete images. When I'm scanning through 500 pictures tagged with Christmas in my Christmas Smart Album and come across one I want to delete, I can't do so. What's worse, going back to Photos view and trying to find that picture to delete it is almost impossible when you're looking through a library of 6,000 images.
Am I missing something? Do I really have to find a work around for this? Why has Apple left out DELETE from Smart Albums?

To delete a photo that's in a smart album you need to use the CommandOptionDelete key combination to move it to the trash. If you just want to remove the photo from the album you will need to change on that photo the feature that the smart album is set to look for.

  • How do I delete photos in an album downloaded off my computer?

So i recently downloaded photos off my computer to my iOS 7.1.1 running 5s, and I don't want some photos on it. But, when I try to delete them, there is no trashcan symbol , and If i wanted to, there's not even an album delete/clear button when i hit "edit" on my albums page. I don't know if i typed this in a confusing way, but these photos are bugging me and I want to delete them! How?

The only way to delete synced photos on the phone is to deselect the photos (or entire album) in iTunes and re-sync.  It can't be done on the phone.

  • Why can't I delete photos from my album?

I created an album today and am trying to sort through it by keyword to check that each photo is labeled correctly. I have been doing this by going to the search box below and choosing one keyword. However, iPhoto will not allow me to delete any photos from this album if I have any keyword selected in that search box. If anything is entered in the search box, and then I select photos and hit "delete", the following photo just gets highlighted, instead of the selected photo being deleted. How can I select all the photos in an album that have a particular keyword, then delete them from the album?
Also, earlier I clicked a box that said "do not confirm before deleting", when I was deleting several photos from this album. Now I'd like that confirmation box to reappear. How do I get that back?
    Thanks for your help!

    Here's an example :
    - Say I have a group of photos flagged. I navigate to the "flagged" smart album. I then click open the "info" pane on the right. I see that a picture of my husband and son is wrongly keyworded "cousins". I click on the picture, then on the keyword "cousins". I hit delete and tab. "cousins" reappears. I try deleting "cousins" and hitting "tab" instead. The deleted keyword reappears again. I delete it about three more times before "cousins" finally disappears for good. Then I add the keywords "brett" and "noah" and click off the picture. Select the photo again, only see the keyword "brett" - no "noah". Yes, I could hit command-K and open the keyword menu, but that's an extra step that I shouldn't have to take, seeing as keywords are available in the info pane. I simply can't figure out what they are wanting me to do in order just to simply delete a keyword using the "info" pane. Is there a particular keystroke that makes a keyword addition/deletion "stick"? I have tried using tab, return, clicking off the keyword box, and no matter, those stinkers just keep undeleting themselves.
Another example of incorrectly adding/subtracting keywords:
    - Again, in the "flagged" smart album, let's say I have clicked on the search box, and chosen to search for all photos with the keyword "san francisco". Now I look in those photos for ones of my husband. I highlight only those particular photos (by holding down 'command') and then using the info pane, type in the keyword "brett". Instead of adding "brett" to the selected photos within the keyword "san francisco", "brett" is added to ALL the photos with the "san fran" keyword.
    - Same scenario, only this time I want to delete a keyword from selected photos in the "san fran" group - but it gets deleted from ALL the "san fran" keyworded photos.
I can get around this problem by adding photos, such as the "san fran" keyworded group, to a regular album, and then adjusting keywords, and the problem doesn't seem to repeat itself. To me this seems like an unnecessary step, but it does work. Anyways, within the flagged album, and I would assume within other smart albums as well (though I haven't tested this theory), I am having trouble with iPhoto adding/subtracting keywords as described above.
Seriously, thank you again for taking the time to help me out here!
P.S. I have deleted the preferences file 3-4 times already, and that doesn't seem to have any effect on these particular issues.

  • How do I delete photos from an album?

I am trying to delete photos from albums I made this morning but no matter where I look all I get is a method that does not work as it tells me firstly to select album then select photo - this I cannot do.  What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a mouse or trackpad?  Are you able to click on an item in the Finder and select it? If so try the following:
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file,, Cache.dbt, that is located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Deleting photos from iphone album

I have an Iphone 3G on 4.2.1. I recently synchronised around 80 photos onto my phone but cannot seem to now delete them. How do you delete photos from photo albums ? When I synchronise, the photos box is unticked and I always answer "yes" to "do you wish to remove existing photos ?" (but it doesn't remove them)

The Camera Roll album contains the photos taken by the device or captured from other sources. When you copy a photo to another album, the whole photo is not copied. Instead a pointer is created in the new album that points to the original photo. If the original is deleted the pointers are also deleted.
If you really want to clear your Camera Roll album and keep the photos, back up the photos to the computer you normally sync with using iPhoto on a Mac or whatever image capture application you have on your pc. Once the photos are on your computer you can delete them from the Camera Roll on your iPhone and organize them how you like by putting them in albums in iPhoto on your Mac or into folders on your pc. Then sync your iPhone and select the albums you want on the phone.
The advantage to this system is that you have backup copies of your photos on your computer should something happen to your photos on the iPhone.

  • Removing deleted photos from catalogue/album

I imported a large number of photos into the catalogue. When I did this I checked the "fix red eye auto" box. All photos that had the red eye removed were imported as well as an edited copy of these photos that had a suffix ("edited-1") added to the filename by PSE.  I then put all these photos in an album.
As many of the red eye removals were terrible, I deleted all the "edited-1" versions via Windows. However my PSE album still shows these deleted photos as being in the album. I now constantly get prompts to look for these missing files. The search for each "missing" file takes forever. They won't be found as they have been deleted. Allowing the tool that looks for every missing file to do its work will have me sitting here for a week.
How can I quickly refresh the album to reflect the fact that many photos have been deleted from the hard disk? Do I have to delete all photos from the catalogue and album and start again?

I have found that while you can check "also remove from hard disk" when deleting files from the catalog, you cannot delete the folder the files were in. In other words it seems you cannot totally control the storage of your image files and folders on the hard disk (ie as Windows sees it) via PSE6. You have to write down what you did in PSE6 and then go back to Windows and edit/delete folders to reflect what you did from within PSE6. If this is the case I believe this is a huge flaw in PSE6. You should be able to have total control of your image files and folders via PSE6. Without this control PSE6 simply creates confusion.

  • How do you delete photos from the albums on 4S?

How do you delete photo's and why is there the camera roll and Iphone roll? most ae duplicates?

Photos synced to iphone have never had a trash can.  You delete them the same way you put them there - the sync process.
If you do not want something on the iphone, then go to the phtos tab, deselect it and sync.
Photo Album is not a duplicate.  It is simply another place from which to access the same pics as you have in your synced albums.  This is how iphone handles photos - always has.
All photos synced to iphone can be accessed from Photo Library.  Those very same photos can alos be accessed from your individual photo albums.

  • How to delete photos from synced albums?

    Hi,
after a holiday I sync all photos taken with my iPad 1. I want to delete bad photos and resync them with my PC. But I can't delete photos from my iPad/iPhone. Is there any possibility to delete single photos?
    Thanks

You can't delete photos synced from your computer directly on your phone, they are deleted by changing your photo sync selection when connected to your computer's iTunes.
You can remove all photos that you synced from your computer by selecting and syncing just an empty folder.
If you want to keep some of them on your phone then you will either need to use a third-party app to copy them back to your computer so that you can then include them in the photo sync ; or download a third-party photo management app on your phone such as Photo Manager Pro which you can copy the photos that you want to keep to (that app can copy photos to/from the Photos app and your computer) and then sync an empty folder to Photos

  • How can I edit and delete photos from my albums? I can't find a way to delete old photos...

Can anyone help me delete photos? There are old blurry and duplicate photos that we are unable to delete...

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

  • Why can't I delete photos in iPhoto album?

I have been happily deleting unwanted photos but now find that iPhoto will no longer allow me to do that.  I have tried rebooting to no avail. And no, i haven't had any recent updates or made any changes myself. Help!

after trying all the various proposals in the other threads (rebuild library, change permissions, change ACLs, use Onyx to run all scripts, log in with different users with new library), i found my solution, mentioned in another thread
    TURN OFF Little Snitch
so that iPhoto can connect to configuration.apple.com, get all my personal information, etc., and then all is fine. Finally, it is possible to delete photos again. You can turn on the iPhoto rule in Little Snitch again after it has connected once.

  • Unable to delete photo from custom albums.

Hello, I am new to ios programming.
I have suceeded in creating a custom album in user's photo library by using the sample code from this here "http://www.touch-code-magazine.com/ios5-saving-photos-in-custom-photo-album-cate gory-for-download/". Now I want to provide a facility to delete images from the custom album from my app. I tried using the code given below:
    I am able to get the asset url of the image and even the image's original name, but it does not seem to delete the image. - (void)removeImage:(NSString*)fileName { NSFileManager *fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *fullPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@.png", fileName]]; [fileManager removeItemAtPath: fullPath error:NULL]; NSLog(@"image removed"); }
Please let me know what I am doing wrong, or there is something else which I am missing?
    Thanks,
    Laxmilal Menaria

OK.  Could you be more SPECIFIC and add some details.  WHERE is the tab you mentioned?
I have the same problem mentioned above and have tried several different approaches, all to no avail.  I can select the photos in in Collections and Moments, but the trash can icon turns grey and I cannot DO anything with them after I select them, other than share them with something/someone else.
