Delete pictures

Hi,
I have a problem with deleting pictures from iphoto. Every time I delete some pictures, the next time I turn on my mac they are not deleted. I even tried deleting them for the iphoto folder, but they still come back again. What should I do ?

Hi yanis,
that is a weird problem indeed.
Check the permissions on your iPhoto Library folder and make sure they are correct.
Get info on the iPhoto Library folder
iPhoto Library Info
Make sure the permissions are Read/Write for your user name. If they are not change it to how you see it in the screenshot and click the button on the bottom to "apply to enclosed items"
Also please read these two links:

  • Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll. I also can't send a picture to a friends phone. One last question.......why do pictures freeze up on the screen and I have to hit the power button to go back to home screen. Thanks for any help.

Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll?  I also can't send Pictures to someone else's phone. My picture seems to freeze up and I can't do anything, particularly delete the picture. I'm new to iPhone so I'm really just learning how this iphone thing works :)

Did you recently start using iCloud to backup your photos?
Wife had the same problem today.  Remembering that I had recently signed her up for more space on iCloud and started backing up her photos, I decided to roll the dice and turn that off.  Plug phone back into computer and *boom* I now have the option to delete.  Now I just have to figure out how I can do both = \

  • My ipad1 won't let me download books, apps or even update apps, it says delete pictures

My ipad1 won't let me download books, apps or even update apps, it says delete pictures & videos to make room for downloads but I do not have on my iPad pictures or video & I barley have any extra apps!!

The operating system takes up about 2GB, so that's why your 16 GB iPad has 14 GB capacity.  And if you only have 687mbs left, it means you don't have much space left to add to your iPad.  Do you have lot's of videos/Books/Music/Apps/Pictures on your iPad.  If you do and you want to add more, you're going to have to delete things before you can add more.

  • HT4946 Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer. I deleted pictures from my iPhone and added then to the ipad, but now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?

Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer running Mountain Lion. Our desktop still runs Tiger, so I purchased the 3rd generation iPad with 64 gb thinking it had had plenty of room to backup my iPhone photos. I used a camera connection kit and transferred about 1100 old photos from my camera roll on my iPhone to my ipad.  I then deleted pictures from my iPhone and now my camera roll has only 357 photos. However, in the Settings, under "About" it says I have 2147 photos. Why? I only have a total of 216 photos in all my albums. However, now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?  Any help, any advice, appreciated please! I spent a long time on the phone with Apple today and they couldn't solve the problem.

    no

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage.

  • Restored a whole lot of deleted pictures i deleted accidently.

Restored a whole lot of deleted pictures i deleted accidently, now the files are corrupt, but i can see them, "blurry" in the camera roll. Anyone with any clues on how to fix this?
I put the pictures i deleted over to a new album, which was 4 days of fun, and after i transferred them over, i chose to delete the pictures in the camera roll, which was not good. The Iphone deleted both the ones in the camera roll, and the other album. When i figured the other photos were gone too, i tried to react quickly and do a "hard" reboot on my iphone, so that my phone wouldnt "register" the delete..
The thing is that this is quite complicated, and i think i messed up real hard. Right after the reboot the pictures were there, almost, they were just files. It was 150 pictures with just the "jpeg-file" name on them..My vids shows me a message that sais something about missing URL?
And ofcourse i have done a restore in Itunes. The restore was on the other hand from the files that was allready corrupted.
Its complicated, i know...Allthough, if anyone can give me a hand here, its greatly appreciated!

Well, after reading through your post a couple of times because I wasn't quite sure what you did, I feel I might understand right now.
You had a number of pictures in the camera roll and you moved them to a new album. You then deleted photos from the Camera roll and now you want to try and recover them? Is that what you are asking?
If so, there isn't anything you can do. Adding pictures from the Camera roll to an album does not actually MOVE the pictures, it just allows you to cataloge them. If you add pictures to a new album you create on the iPhone and then try to delete them from the iPhone, you get a warning that the pictures are in another album and deleting them from camera roll will cause them to be deleted everywhere. I just tried this to make sure. Actually, the warning box doesn't just say delete, it says delete everywhere. Deleting pictures from the camera roll before importing them to the computer will result in the photos being lost. Your attempt to reboot the phone is what corrupted the files. Unless you did a backup of the phone with the camera roll intact and have not backed it up since then, you would be able to restore to that backup. Problem is, it reads as if you have already done a backup/sync, which would result in the last backup being overwritten by the latest one. In my opinion, unless something I wrote earlier has happened, then you have lost the photos.

  • Is there a way to delete pictures from your iphone 4s through itunes instead of deleting them individually on the phone?

I am trying to delete pictures from my iPhone 4s without having to select them individually on my phone.  Is there a way to do it through iTunes?
    Thank you.

Where are the photos on your phone? Are they in the camera roll? in folders on your phone? in photostream?

  • Can no longer delete pictures in Windows Explorer when connected by USB.

I have in the past been able to plug in my iPhone 6 and older phones by USB to my Windows 7 machine. Then I can go into the phones image folders and move, copy, or delete pictures. I've noticed now that when I'm "moving" pictures its actually just copying them and not removing them from my device. I like to transfer pictures off for storage. So when I go and try and delete a file after copying it it tells me "You do not have permission to delete this file". I've tried unlocking the phone while doing this as well with no luck.
So why the change and is there something I can adjust so that I can still delete pictures and videos from the camera roll while viewing them in Windows Explorer?
I do understand I can go through an delete pics and vids on the phone itself which is simple enough by I like doing it while in Windows Explorer while previewing the files on a larger screen. These are also only images taken by the phones camera not from other apps.
I'd also like to vent on how Apple has changed the folder structure in their "DCIM" folder. It use to have a few folders to sort through and find pictures but now there are nearly 30 on my phone with some containing only a single image. I'm sure there's a "programming" reasoning to it but really how hard would it be to make these folders simplified? Now I have to go into each folder until I find the images I'm looking for.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

We are just users like you and don't know why Apple does what it does. This is not a place to "vent," it is a place to ask technical questions. As of now there is no way to change or modify the way these folders appear in Windows Explorer. You can provide feedback to Apple about this issue at this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback
