Delete rows above "text" in excel for mac

Hi, all,
I'm new to this, but it seems that my particular problem hasn't been answered yet.
I have exported a load (700 odd) pdf files into excel spreadsheets for Mac.
Even though all the pdfs were in the same form originally, the export procedure has mucked it about a bit, and therefore none of the excel sheets are the same. However, the actual data which I am interested in has been exported in the right way. Therefore, to get to the right selection of data that I need to plot in each sheet, I need to move down differing numbers of rows.
Is there any way of automatically extracting the same set of data from each of the separate, slightly different files into one sheet, so I can easily plot the right information?

Anything else I need to tell you? Apart from I would rather be using Numbers!!!

Glad to help. Off the topic of Retina resolution but on the topic of the rMBP, I'd suggest two things.
First, since you can't upgrade RAM yourself, get the amount of RAM you'll need, ideally the maximum available. And get as much SSD storage as you think you'll need in the future; while it's sort of possible to upgrade the SSD, it's difficult and puts your warranty at risk. Which leads to...
Second, I'd advise getting AppleCare. If you look through the MacBook Pro forum, you'll find one thread with beyond 8,000 replies complaining about image retention on the Retina screen. Up to a point, that would be covered by the warranty and the onset may take some time so the warranty extension is valuable. While there's a lot of disagreement on this, the second iteration of the rMBP (i.e., the 2013 version) offered a different screen from the original and has generated far fewer complaints. There are two screen manufacturers, Samsung and LG, with the IR complaints associated with the LG's. I have the 2013 rMBP with the newer LG and so far it's presented no IR at all, even using the tests described in the thread. But others have had problems so having the warranty to fall back on is a good thing.

    I have no Excel for Mac, so I can't test this issue .
    Did you save the Excel workbook as Excel Macro-Enabled workbook(*.xlsm)?I guess Excel would prompt you if you want to save the VBA code when you close the workbook.

  • Excel14.4.7 (Excel for Mac 2011); can't sort data

    Upgraded to Excel for Mac 2011 (v.14.4.7) and cannot sort data. Have read instructions but keep getting error message "missing column/row name"
    Tried doing it with box checked "My list has headers" and with the box unchecked....same non-result and error message.
    I'm doing something wrong, obviously but can't figure it out. I am totally mystified & frustrated!

    It's been a while but I think you hold SHIFT while typing a page break (RETURN) to make a new line without shifting to another cell.
    However, as Excel isn't an Apple product, I am sure you will get a faster and more current answer by using Microsoft's Office:Mac forums here:

    I second LibreOffice as it's the most recent fork, however NeoOffice and OpenOffice will also work.
    Just say No money to Redmond!
    Also the old Ready Set Go! will be having a Lion version out soon.
    It's a low cost page layout program (like Indesign but without the high price) and can make booklets etc better, import the excel grpahics from LibreOffice.

    Guys, any idea if how one can use F2 (to edit a formula) and F4 (to anchor a cell i.e. $b$3) on Excel for Mac? I cannot believe those keys cannot work or that they haven't fixed those commands onto another key...right now you just get brightness and dashboard.

  • Excel for mac ver14.4.1 screen goes blank when i change to & from full screen view

    when i'm working on an excel document, if i am in full screen and hit escape to go non full screen the document goes blank.
    if i hit the full screen arrows again, i see my document momentarily and then the screen goes blank again.
    i believe this issue began recently after the most recent version update.  i must constantly save my documents in case i go in or 
    out of full screen view and my page goes blank so i don't lose my work.  does anyone else have this issue and what can i do about 
    it?  my macbook uses os x ver 10.7.5.  not sure if this is an excel problem or an os x problem.

    Disregard question, found it. Right click, or Ctrl+click to use submenu to Copy.

    Dear all,
    I've just upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard and am thrilled to discover all its new gadgets. I was unpleasantly surprised however to find that Excel for Mac (legally purchased a year and a half ago, part of Office for Mac software) is not working anymore. This amazes me as Word for Mac is (fortunately) doing fine, no problems there. Is there any one out there who might know what is the problem? I was thinking to reinstall excel but don't know if that'll do any good.

    What should I do if Leopard does not come with Excel for Mac STUDENT EDITION, and I am on a low budget because my parents insist that I should save the money until I finish High School.. BTW I am only 13 yrs old.

    Do you think I should use my Debit card and buy the Microsoft Home office (excel for mac) which is $199.99 but I have also heard a lot of things for the Leopard too. That I would have to upgrade my RAM and everything, but I don't think I have that kind of money, and I certainly do not want to borrow money from the bank and I am defineately not going to spend money on that stuff. I think I should have brought the Macbook Pro.
    Did you think that a Macbook with only 1GB of memory and 2 GHz of the CPU speed is good enough? I also want to run windows on it too.
    Do you people think that I would have to buy a virus scanner for the windows one? I really don't want to, and I'd rather know about this now because I really need it.
    What do you think I should do?

    It is plenty good enough. 2 GB of RAM, however, would be very helpful. Plus RAM is quite cheap. Windows is not cheap.

    Don't bother with it. Surf the web and check your mail on the Mac side and you should be fine.
