Delete rule not working

I subscribe to a mailing list using a particular email address (not my primary account), all mail for which is redirected into a mailbox. I only want to keep messages from the last five days. I have a Rule which is set as follows:
If ALL of the following conditions are met:
Account = <the account>
Date Received is Greater Than 5 days old
Perform the following actions:
Delete Message
This rule does does not work. It is the first rule in my list of Rules. And it simply does nothing. Why?

Maxplanar,
Mail rules only run when the item is first processed. So you are in effect going to delete things only when they are received in an "old" state.
I would set up a smart mailbox or two. One to only show the 5 days of mail you want to pay attention to. Optionally make another smart mailbox to contain messages older than 5 days. You can just refer to the first mailbox and only see the messages you want. The other mailbox will be there for once a month when you select all the messages and delete them.
Most macs can handle 5 to 10 thousand messages without even starting to slow down. Perhaps once you have a managable folder that shows you the messages you care to see, you can live with manually cleaning up much less often?

Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

  • Infopath form load rule not working in browser forms but works on Client

    Hi
I am working on an Infopath form and there are rules on form load. The form load checks for a value in a list, if the username() matches the one in the list, then the form would change its view.
It works when I open it on client, but on the browser it fails.
Have anyone encountered such an issue.

    Check below:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16222681/infopath-rule-is-not-running-when-checking-sharepoint-list-field-value
Ensure that "Include data for the active form only" was checked (I had to separate this field into another data connection because that box could not be checked for another field I was using), and
Ensure that in the rule I was selecting from the "dataFields" folder under the data connection instead of "queryFields"
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/28554/infopath-form-load-rules-not-working
if I edit the Infopath form on Infopath 2007, it seems that the rules for the load form will be visible if created.
This look like a bug. Here are the steps below that will lead you to the bug:
Step 1: Open the infopath form in Infopath 2010 and create 6 rules for Form Load and Save it as a file.
Step 2: Open that infopath form that you created in Step 1 in InfoPath 2010 and go to the
Form Load section. You will only see the first 5 rules. The 6th rules that you created for Step 1 will just "vanish". Now, close that infopath form.
Step 3: Open that infopath form that you created in step 1 in InfoPath 2007 and select Tools > Form Option. In the
Open and Save category, click the Rules button and add a new rule in it and save it.
Step 4: Open that infopath form that you modify as describe in Step 3 in InfoPath 2010. That 6th rule will be visible.
Therefore, there might be a bug in InfoPath 2010 that restrict Rules to a max of 5 in Form Load and thus if anyone open that form in SharePoint, only the first 5 rules will be executed.

  • Mail Rule Not Working

I have a rule that is not working in Mail.app.
It's a mailing list that I am subscribed to which I want deleted at certain times. Upon arrival, I would like it deleted.
I've tried several simple rules that all do not work for this list alone.  I've sniffed the subject, which has a list tag shoved in there:  [thisList].  I've tried a header field called List-ID and provided a CONTAINS for the actual email address of the list.  I've also tried sniffing the list address as a recipient.  In these trials, I've only used one qualifier, and only one process, to delete the file.
It is a GMail address, which shows up in a folder that is a GMail rule to pull out my lists.  So it shows up twice, once in this folder, and once in All Mail.  This is an IMAP account into my Mail.app.
So now I have 2 messages in my Gmail lists folder, the same 2 in my All Mail, and 2 in my Smart Mailbox which is showing the very 2 are in the filtered Gmail mailbox.
Upon choosing Apply Rules, they finally go away.
Is there a way to get Gmail systems to work with IMAP properly without having multiple boxes show up?  That integration is confusing and problematic when trying to apply smart mailboxes on the Mac end of things, as GMail messes up the number of mailboxes where certain messages are showing up.  I've tried turning off certain mailboxes being shown on the Gmail side, but I can't seem to make a Gmail address work well with IMAP.
    Any insight or advice appreciated.

Google supports the IMAP protocol, but has a number of proprietary additions/extensions/implementations that it uses to support google-specific functions. While these add a lot of functionality when using Chrome and Google's webmail applications, they sometimes cause odd problems that people have to deal with. Rule management might be one of these.
Another thing to keep in mind is that rules in Mail are automatically applied to incoming messages only, and not to mail that has previously been downloaded. That is, you cannot have a rule automatically delete or label month-old mail without specifically invoking it on the current mailbox or message selection.

  • Mail Forward Rule Not Working

I have a few mail forwarding rules set which don't seem to be working. I see no forwarded emails in my send mailbox, and when I click the small arrow in the message window that indicates it has been forwarded, I get a message that says I must have deleted the message, which is not true. This is what the rule looks like:

Mail rules only work on incoming mail. Once the mail is listed in your Inbox, the only way to use a rule is to manually run it. Given how rules work this may render your rule as non-working.

    Hi paramu
I think you didn't get my question
The new row is not saved into DB, user add a new record simply he change his mind half way and need
to delete new record in form (As I understand this row only created in related iterator)
So he expect after delete form goes back to previous state
    Thanks

  • Delete rule not being generated in DDL

    Hi,
I've only recently started using SQL Developer Data Modeler (coming from the Designer world), and it's been a good learning experience. There's a piece that I can't seem to figure out though, and it's related to the generation of DDL for foreign keys. In all my models (logical, relational, physical, I have the Delete Rule set to "Restrict". This isn't just the default preference I'm talking about, when I actually drill down to the properties of the FK, it says that the delete rule is restrict. However, when I generate the DDL, no delete rule is generated. The only option generated is NOT DEFERRABLE.
There are two issues with this:
    1) The rule isn't going into the DB unless I manually alter the DDL, and
    2) Every time I re-import the DB to generate ALTER statements, the comparison detects that the rule in the DB (NO ACTION) is different than the rule in the model (RESTRICT), so it deletes and re-generates the FK. However, it re-generates it still not having the delete rule set, so it doesn't fix the problem.
Is this a known bug, or is there some way of telling the program to generate the delete rule in DDL that I'm missing? I should add I'm using version 3.1.1.703.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Mike

I did some more research and I think I was completely misunderstanding Oracle's implementation of delete rules. Now I believe that Oracle implements the "RESTRICT" option in SQL Developer Data Modeler as "No Action", which is the default option, hence why no DDL option is generated. However, it would still be nice if Data Modeler could detect this fact when comparing two models. What I mean it, if comparing an Oracle DB to a model, treat Restrict and No Action as the same, and thus don't attempt to re-generate the DDL for this "difference". For now, I'll just change the action on my models to No Action, and this should resolve the issue.
