Delete song from ipad?

How do I delete a song from iPad mini? It keeps showing up and I tried all of the suggestions given by this forum. Turning on/off, deleting all music, synching back the music I want. I even was on a chat with Apple support for half-hour and thought the issue was solved but lo and behold, all the music I wanted to delete came back!! Help!!!!

If you swipe the song left and right does a Delete or Remove button appear. If so tap the button.
If the song shows a cloud icon by it that mean you purchased it and it is not on the iPad. If you tap the cloud icon it will download. To only show songs downloaded to the iPod go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off SHOW ALL.
Otherwise, what are you doing when the songs come back? Are you syncing?

  • I see how to delete songs from iPad, but there are some that won't give me the option to delete when I swipe it. Why won't it let me?

I see how to delete songs from iPad, but there are some songs that don't give me the option to delete when I swipe them. Why can't I get rid of these songs?

Do they have a cloud icon next to them? If they do, they aren't on the iPad so you can't delete them. They are in iCloud ready for you to download them if you want to and they are visible in the music app for this purpose.
If you don't want to see these songs that are in iCloud, go to Settings> iTunes & App Store>Show all>Music>Off.

how do I delete songs from ipad 3rd?

    Welcome to the Apple Community,
Simply swipe the song listing on the iPad, a delete button will appear, tap it and a cloud icon will appear showing its been deleted and can be downloaded from iTunes match again.
In addition to being able to delete a single tune, you can also delete an album or an artist.

  • How do I delete songs from iPad without Match deleting them from iCloud?

I've used Match to put a bunch of songs on my 16GB iPad and now I've run out of memory and need to remove some of them.  How do I remove them from the iPad without Match automatically deleting them from iCloud and iTunes on my laptop?  I only want to take the songs off the iPad.

This is a topic that has been covered in-depth on this forum.
You can delete individual songs by swiping across them and tapping the delete button. Or, in the Artist of Album view tap-n-hold for a second, then tap the "x" in the upper left to delete. Or you can delete all downloaded music by going to Settings > General > Usage, tapping Music, then swiping and tapping the delete button.
This will not remove the music from the cloud or the iTunes library.

  • Can't delete songs from ipad and cant even play them

I deleted all the music from my ipad by going in general menu, there it is showing zero music files. but i can see songs in music folder, and they cannot be played but are visible , how to delete?

This may be OBE long ago, but for anyone still having problems...if the "swipe" does not work try this -
    After selecting "music"
    (1) select "Playlists" on the bottom of the iPad display;
    (2) select "purchased" (this will list a boat load of songs);
    (3) select "Edit" - its at the top of the left-most column ...this will create a "red circle" with a "minus sign" inside to the left of each song  (this will allow you to delete songs)
    (4) scroll through the list for the items you want to delete (it will list the data with three columns - song title - artist - album name);
    (5) select the red circle/minus sign for the song you want to delete/remove - a red rectangle labled "Remove" should appear on the far right in the same row as the song
    (6) select "Remove"
Its tedious but if the "swipe doesn't work" hopefully this will.

  • Delete songs from iPad

I downloaded music from iTunes match and now need to free up space.  How do I delete music from my iPad mini, running ios 7.1?  The instructions for doing so for 5 don't work, and I can't seem to do it from itunes either.  HELP!

    Hey krturpin,
Thanks for the question. You can remove a song from your device by doing the following:
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
via page 62 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music"
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Deleting songs from iPad 2

I have an iPad 2, not yet upgraded to iOS5.  How can I delete songs downloaded from iTunes?  When I touch, or drag, or try anything, it only opens the song... Perhaps I need the ios5 upgrade, which I hope to have by tomorrow..  Thanks.

Prior to iOS 5, this is done via the iTunes sync process.

  • Match to delete songs from iPad???

Just subscribed to Match. Ready to enable it on my iPad. It tells me all previous music will be removed from my iPad. But the Cloud will do me no good on the road without cell service. Does Match really require me to have no local songs on the iPad???

No, you can enable iTunes Match and also store songs locally. In fact, when you stream a song on the iPad, it actually doesn't "stream" it, but it actually stores the song locally once it has been downloaded so you can listen to it again or in the future without having to download it again.
If you want, you can download a whole bunch of songs so they are stored locally rather than "streamed" by hitting the download button for each song.
Or, if you want all of the songs to be stored locally on your iPad and still have iTunes Match enabled, you can disable iTunes Match on the iPad then sync your iPad with your computer. Then go back and enable iTunes Match on your iPad. It will warn you that all your music will be replaced by those of in iTunes Match. This is true, but it doesn't delete any songs if the songs in iTunes Match are the same ones already stored on the iPad. After doing so, iTunes Match is enabled but all your songs are stored locally.

  • Cant delete songs from iPad Air?

Okay Ive tried going to settings and turning off the "Show all music"-setting. Some songs dissappeared, but some stayed and STILL wont go away no matter what I do!
These are songs that are like 3-4 years old that I dont listen to anymore, and are REALLY REALLY annoying the crap outta me, and Ive deleted them EVERYWHERE, but theyre there on my iPad and dont allow themselves to be deleted.
    What do I do?

I have been using iTunes/iCloud for a long time so I know how it's supposed to work. That's a FYI.
The problem stated above is happening to me as well. I can delete the iCloud library completely but when I try to add new music the entire cloud library shows back up. That is what the OP is trying to sat as well.
If I just close iTunes, when I start it up again, there is the entire cloud library again. I don't have to touch "update iTunes".
These songs are showing up on my iPhone as well. None have been downloaded. They have the cloud with the down arrow next to them.

  • Using iTunes 11 how do i delete songs from my "manually managed" iPad.

Using iTunes 11 how do i delete songs from my "manually managed" iPad. (iPad gen 1)
On the old itunes i could simply highlight the songs on my music folder under my iPad connected and remove the ones i no longer wanted. With iTunes 11 when im looking through what is on my iPad i want to delete some songs or movies and it doesnt work. I can do it on the iPad itself. But theres hundreds i want to delete and this would take hours. Has anybody else had this problem?

With iTunes 11, if you haven't already done so then you should be able to enable the left-hand sidebar option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC, and the way that you delete songs should then be the same as how you used to do it e.g. select the Music section under the iPad 'device' on that left-hand sidebar and select and delete the songs that you don't want on the iPad anymore on the right-hand side of iTunes

  • Use iPhone/iPad to Permanently Delete Songs from iCloud/iTunes Match

I have iCloud and iTunes Match, but I am doing my annual "spring cleaning" (yes, I know it's winter) of songs I don't really listen to or want to keep anymore. I want to delete them permanently from iCloud/iTunes Match. I used to do this in iTunes on a computer. I would delete them from the Song list and it would prompt me with a question to the effect of "Do you want to delete these from iCloud as well?"
Well, I am operating solely on an iPhone and an iPad now. I don't have a computer anymore. So I don't have iTunes software anymore and thus don't have this means of deleting songs from iCloud. I don't know how to delete songs from iCloud USING my mobile device. If I delete a song from a playlist or from the device itself, it is still out there in iCloud and still shows up in the list of songs at my disposal. I DON'T want to cheat the system and turn off the settings feature that "shows all music" in iCloud because then I won't be able to see anything I have at my disposal in iCloud. I want to be able to see my songs in iCloud, but I want to be able to permanently delete from said iCloud songs that I don't care about anymore.
So how do I do it from iOS devices?
Please don't tell me it can't be done without iTunes on a computer. That will just irritate me and drive another nail in the coffin of my growing frustration with Apple.

I honestly don't think you can do it. Nothing I've found online allows you to do this, which is awful because these songs still show up and play when on shuffle. I've even selected "only show me music on this device" and I still see some songs I've deleted and are only on icloud and I have no option to swipe and delete. I'm with you... forcing me to do this on my pc when every other need for syncing has since been removed is very annoying.

  • How do i delete songs from my itunes account on my ipad?

HOw do i delete songs from my itunes on my ipad?

    Staoter
Songs are normally stored on a computer, set-up as playlists and then synced to your IPAD through Itunes.  If you resync only the songs you want the undesired songs will be deleted.
    Does this help you?
    Cheers

  • How do I delete songs from my iPad?

How can I delete songs from my iPad? Thanks all!

Depends on how they were put on your iPad in the first place.
    1.  If purchased on iPad, in Music app > Songs swipe the song you want to delete to the right and a delete box appears
    2.  If synced from iTunes on your computer, you need to connect your iPad to your computer via USB and delete them there.

If you do not alrady have it, you might want to download the User guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_user_guide.pdf). It is also available in iBooks (free download).
