Delete Stored Messages

How do you go in and delete stored messages to free up space in the phone. when you go in and see you have under settings, usage, manage storage, messages it shows a number in either mb or gb. How do you delete the sored massages saved? To gain more memory back? If anybody knows it would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

I have the same exact issue But no one seems to know. I have looked online and they just tell you how to delete like one usually does on the message app. Seems no one can figure this out

  • General settings usage states 1.3 g stored messages. How can I delete stored messages?

I have deleted all messages but it continues to say 1.3 g stored messages

Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!
Mine had 3GB and I just got rid of it all, here is how:
    Make a backup in iTunes
    open iBackupBot (Google it)
    Go to the relevant backup
Click on Multimedia File Manager and click on the other Multimedia files tab
Sort by filename by clicking the Filename tab
Find MediaDomain/Library/SMS/Attachments and highlight all of them, then press delete.  You can also click to export to a folder of your choice, if you want to save them that is.
    Then go to System Files>MediaDomain>Library>SMS>Attachments
They will be all listed here, highlight them all and press delete
Then just restore that backup using iTunes!
Tadaa! Space recovered, your messages are still there but without the attachments!
P.S You may want to make two backups in case you get any of the above steps wrong, but it is simple to follow the above and not do anything wrong!
P.P.S You could also just go through every single conversation and delete the attachments one by one, but if you have hundreds or thousands of attachments, this will take a VERY LONG TIME!!!

  • Deletion of messages stored on mass memory on N97

Hi - I was wondering if anybody could help please ?
I've got a N97 which I've had around 180 messages in my Inbox and Sent Items which used the mass memory (E drive) to store the messages on.
I did a backup of the device on the phone via the File Manager application, and did a reinstall of the firmware.
Although the reinstall of the firmware didn't touch the music stored on the mass memory it appears to have deleted the messages I had stored, and unfortunately the backup doesn't appear to have stored the messages ...
Does anyone know if there is anyway of accessing/retrieving the messages which should hopefully still be on my E drive please ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Edward

Ok, I had to try it out.
    1. I had 1 message on C: and did a backup in filemanager. It backed up on F: on default. - I deleted the message on C: and restored the backup. My message got back.
    2. If I deleted my message on C: and had 1 message on E: and did a backup - it also stored the backup on F: by default. - I set my message memory to E: and restored. - No message to see. - Cause it told me it would restore the backup to phonememory (C: ). I changed the messagememory to C: - but could not find any message.
As I can see, the backupprogram only backs up messages from C....

  • 1) Deleting email messages.  2) storing passwords

    1) When I delete email messages using my pc (aol) they remain on my iPhone (also aol) and the same is true in reverse.  How can I delete from both simultaneously?
    2) Where/how on my iphone can I store various passwords.  (Can you tell....I am a beginner!)

I believe that AOL only offers POP email which does not sync across devices. To do what you want, you'd need an IMAP account. The question you need to ask is whether it's worth changing you email.
There are password keeper apps available in the App Store, nothing native on the phone.

How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses  "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear.  Help please!

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.

  • How to delete the messages in clock-in/clock-out

    Hi All,
I need to delete the messages in clock-in/clock-out which are appearing in portal, to delete this messages is there any report at R/3 side kindly suggest me help me in this
    waiting for your responses .....
    Regards,
    Shilpa.

you can run the report RPUP1D00 for the periods that you need to delete
the messages without any problems, but please read the documentation
    carefully before starting.
Please note, that RPTERR00 always reports ALL errors. It does not matter
in which period they appeared. Please destinguish between errors and
    notes.
The errors which appear during a time evaluation run are stored in table
ERT in cluster B1 and in table FEHLER in cluster B2 are intended to
store and display those errors as long as the errors are not corrected.
If you don't want these errors to be displayed any more you either have
to correct the errors or you must delete Cluster B1 via report RPUP1D00.
The old NOTES are transferred from the ERT/B1 to FEHLER/B2 with each
    subsequent run of time evaluation.
Your time administrators should normally work with PT40 and confirm
'I' messages or correct errors by using the error handling.
This report can be run like this
    Relation ID   'B1'
    Sort field    Pers.no. (eight-digit)
    Delete?       X
    Password      Username

  • Is there a way to view my deleted text message on my iPhone

I accidentally deleted a message on my iPhone I want to recover it. Is there a way I can do that? Help!!!

Only by restoring to a backup of your phone made while the missing text was still on it.  Note: doing this will restore all the data and settings stored in the backup, not just your messages (overwriting your current data).

  • Trouble deleting text messages from Extravert 2

My daughter and I both recently got the LG Extravert 2 and have both had the same problem. I was the first to have the problem with not being able to delete messages, but I was able to solve it after turning my phone off and removing the battery for 30 secs. But I can't seem to get my daughters phone to do the same. I've made sure the messages aren't locked (I've even locked them and then unlocked them), I've checked all the settings, I've tried to delete all messages in the inbox, all messages from an individual, and deleting each message one at a time; none of which have actually worked. It always tells me that it has worked, but then it returns to the inbox and all the same messages are there. I don't get any kind of error message, or anything saying it can't complete the action. It's getting really frustrating because this phone doesn't seem to have that much of a memory for storing text messages, and once it's full, wont accept any new messages. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

That's about when I started having the same problem with mine. I actually just had to get a new one sent to me because the first one completely froze up on me and wouldn't turn back on. So far, no problem with the new one, but I haven't tried to delete anything. While on the phone with the tech person for that problem, I asked about the software update that Z1234 referred to, but she knew nothing about it. She recommended that I call LG directly and ask about it. I haven't done that yet, but will try this week.
I did manage to figure out a slight loophole. If you go to the main screen (press the lock button, slide or drag lock screen.. now you're at the main screen. Sorry, I have no idea about technical terms here! lol ) then slide to the right, it should come up with all your texts listed in order of when they were sent/received. Then open each one individually and then erase. Such a pain it the butt, but I was able to delete most of them. Had a lot of them still stuck though.
Anyway, glad to know that it's not just us, but sorry you're having the same problem. I know how frustrating it is! If I find out something new on the update, I'll try to post. We're leaving for a week long camping trip on saturday, so I'm pretty busy this week! But I know my daughter is going to be itching to get her hands on her phone again (just dropped her at camp today and phones aren't allowed!) so I'd like to get it figured out before we pick her up!

  • Can you restore a deleted IM message from an ipod touch?

Hello, my daughter has received some bullying text on her ipod via Skype IM chat which she has deleted but I now need to show them to the school.
Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve deleted IM messages from the ipod (4th gen)? I have checked my PC to see if Skype has 'sync and stored it' but it hasn't. Many thanks.

Check this post about it:  Re: i want to move my voice memo to my pc

Under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select Include Voice Memos followed by selecting Apply and a sync.  An iTunes playlist will be created where your voice memos will be available on your computer and any new voice memos will be transferred to your iTunes library automatically when syncing.

  • Deleting old messages in Messages Beta

On the iPad and iPhone, deleting old messages is easy. On Mac, the "cut" key is inactive and whatever I do (including deleting iChat files storing messages) old messages keep coming back every time opening Messages Beta. How do I get rid of them once for all?

    HI,
From within the app it is not possible in the Beta
However using the Finder as the "Front" app use the Go Menu and Hold the ALT key and then chose th Library.
In the Library go to the Messages folder and delete chat.db  - just drag it to the Trash
    Restart Messages

  • HT4528 How do I permanently delete my messages?

  • Is there a way of retrieving deleted text messages?

HI was wondering if there was a way of retrieving a deleted text message on my iPhone 4S

If you have a backup, you can restore from that backup and get the text messages that were stored in that backup.
For example, if you accidentally deleted a text message an hour ago and you backed up to iCloud two hours ago, you can restore from that iCloud backup and have the messages back.
    Pretty simple.
But if you don't have a backup or simply don't feel like going through the trouble, there is no way whatsoever.

  • HT3529 can you retrieve deleted text messages

Is there a way to recover deleted text messages

(I know this is a somewhat old thread, but someone may stumble on it if they're in a similar situation!)
It really all depends, unfortunately. When the messages are deleted, the database storing them marks it as "deleted" but doesn't actually destroy the information fully. Eventually the database will recompact the space, rearrange, and reuse, but until then the message could be found.
With that said, from my own experience, sometimes the much older messages are the ones that happen to stick around, and the newer ones get overwritten first. It all just depends on how the space in the file gets compacted and reused I'd say it's worth a try to look.
I am the main developer for Decipher TextMessage, which has a feature to recover deleted text messages from the iPhone backup files. The nice thing is that the software will scan for your iTunes backups of your phones (perhaps finding the message in an older backup before it was deleted!), show you all of the regular not-deleted messages, and then you can press the recover button to look for deleted information. I usually recommend running the program once to see what older information you have (always better to get the original not-deleted version when possible) and then make a new backup and run Decipher TextMessage again.
I hope this helps someone out! If you want to send us some more questions directly, you can do so from our website http://deciphertools.com
(Disclaimer: Clearly since I work for Decipher Media, the links I have made above to deciphertools.com may benefit me in the future.)

  • How do I delete my Messages picture?

I would like to completely delete my Messages picture.  I have a picture setup for when I login to my Mac, but I do not want anything showing for when I message people.
I already turned off the picture from showing via Gmail settings so that when I chat via Google Hangouts on Jabber the picture will not show to the other person, but one of the default pictures is still showed (to me) when I message someone.  This same picture (a default picture) is shown when I use iMessage.
I do not want a default picture and I do not want a custom picture.  I just want no picture.  Where is the Messages picture stored?  When I go to Preferences > Change Picture, there is NO way to just select "no picture."
    Thanks.

    Hi,
When setting up the Mac for the First Time you get to select a Login Pic.
As you progress through you are asked for an Email and your Full name which creates the My Card in the Address Book/Contacts App.
This will pull the Login pic by Default.
You then start up iChat or Messages and this will take the Pic from the Contacts app (Address Book) by default.
In iChat the Buddy Lists are then on Display and you can click the current Buddy Pic  and change it.
In Messages if you only have the iMessages Account it will take the default picture.
In this case Enable the Bonjour Account then go to the Window Menu and select the Buddies item.
I have heard that a Right or Control Click will allow you to remove a Pic but have not found this to work.
Clicking the current Buddy Pic allows access to Defaults (Login Pics). Recents (those last 16 or so you have tried), Faces (From iPhoto) and Camera (Snapshots)
In Recents is a Head and Shoulders "Blank" icon.  Select that.
The Login Pic can be changed in System Preferences > User and Groups > Your account
The Contacts one can be Changed in Contacts App > My Card
The Messages one can be changed as you describe (Menu option) and by the method I described (Buddy List)
They can be changed in these places independent of each other.

  • Im trying to delete old messages from my iphone 4 but how can i view them on a computer to make it easier?

hi i have recently backed up my iphone 4 to do a wipe of my phone. i got all my info back on it but was wondering how can i view my messages on my computer so that i can delete old messages from months ago without actually having to delete the recent ones?

The backup includes text messages but they are stored in a format meant only for restoring back to the phone. There are 3rd party backup extractors that can view them. One of them is http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/
