Delete Temp DB Files

I run the SGEN and within this run the DB runs full.
Is it possible to delete temp files from SGEN in the DB or what can I do to reduce the size because the data which is wirtten is big.

There is nothing from DB side I can think of. If MaxDB were to create internal temporary files, it would automatically remove them later.
Regarding SGEN (the ABAP mass generation) itself, I have not heard of any temporary data in ABAP tables, but then I am not an expert in this area.
I would suggest that you describe how much space you needed (or how by how much the db did increase before reaching full state) and what your total db size and used size was before the SGEN.
If you want, I could then move this thread to the SAP Solution Manager forum, but it my well be just normal that you have to have a lot of free space if you are to compile all of your ABAP sources.

• I want to delete temporary internet files. Notice I did not say clear the cache. That does not work! How can I delete the temp files? Why did you take that feature away? VERY frustrating that you would do that!

I search for how to delete temp int files and keep coming up with the "clear cache" crap. That is not what I searched for. Clear cache does NOT delete the temp files. Why would you take that feature away??

The Windows temporary internet files folder isn't used directly by Firefox. Firefox uses its own cache folder and you can see its current usage on the about:cache page via the location bar.
If anything does show up in the temporary internet files folder then it is likely caused by using MS plugins like the Windows Media Player or Silverlight. You need to clear that folder via IE or the control panel (internet settings).

• Temp data file

hello
As read somewhere that if we delete temp data file in oracle 10g, on restarting the database it automatically creates the new temp file. So deleted that file from oradata folder. Restarted the database but not creating new temp file.
can anyone tell why this is so?

But for XE it works:

• How do I delete temp file amt3.log?

To reduce malware-related risks, I regularly delete Temp files (%tmp%)
I am unable to delete amt3.log even when no application runs on my PC
Based on a quick Google search, amt3.log seems to be an Adobe-related file
I am using Acrobat X Pro and Photoshop Elements 9
What settings should I change in Acrobat X Pro and/or Photoshop Elements 9 to be able to delete amt3.log?
Thank you

I also use Acrobat Pro X and the same file appears in Temp. I simply unlock it with "Unlocker 1.9.1", then delete the file. You can download "Unlocker 1.9.1" for FREE HERE. Keep in mind that the log file will keep recreating itself, so might be easiest to leave it alone.
After you install Unlocker, right click on any file that you cannot delete and select "unlocker" from the context menu. Then, highlight the program that is using/locking the file and select "unlock" at the bottom of the window. Voila!!! Now you can delete that pesky file. Hope this helps....

• I'm running Windows 7 and iTunes and the other Apple programs wouldn't automatically update. Went through all the options and finally had to delete all Apple files and re-download iTunes. Worked fine, until the next update. Is there a glitch in the system

I'm running Windows 7 and iTunes (and the other Apple programs) wouldn't automatically update. Went through all the options and finally had to delete all Apple files and re-download iTunes. Worked fine, until the next update. Is there a glitch in the system? Does someone know of some proprietory block (I think it is related to Quicktime)? Also, once I re-downloaded everything, cleaned everything up, and deleted duplicate files, I closed down my computer. When I re-started it, iTunes was "brand new" -- all of my music, organization, tagging, etc. was gone and had to start over. Idea?

Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

• Temp/Cache files in OAS/FORMS

Hi,
I'm running out of disk space in an old server and, after searching for the biggest folders, I found two that take most of the space:
C:\app_1\application1 ----> In this folder there are other subfolders (cache, fmb, fmx, icon, lib, mmb, mmx, rdf...), being cache the biggest one.
C:\oracle\ora806\FORMS60 ----> There are lot of files here, having random names starting with s (s43o.5, s1ak.6, and so on)
Do you know if it's safe to delete those (apparently) temp/cache files in cache and forms60 folders?
Thanks

• Deleting "Temp Folder" to Allow iTunes to Work But It Comes Back!

Can you please help me?
I am trying to install iTunes, and for some reason this time I have got the error "iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application."(I've downloaded iTunes before and have never had this problem before.
So basically, I have followed the trouble shooting for this error, the one where you dlete iTunesSetup.exe. and delete Temp Folder. However, when I dlete Temp, it keeps on coming back. I close any other window, try again, but same thing happens. I restart comp and come back to find it still there and the trouble shooting has not worked. Help me please!!!!!

Alright Raver, I'm giving you my clean install instructions. Please read them over before you step through them to be sure you understand them. Remember to follow the steps VERY carefully, otherwise you could cause harm to your PC.
1. Uninstall itunes/ipod/QT software. Delete any old installations you might have.
2. Reboot your PC
3. Re-download the itunes installer and QT and save this installer to your desktop
4. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations. You should see folders like {06EB3288-C5F4-4C73-8EEE-AC798668FF66}
5. Look in each of these folders for itunes.msi and delete the folder. Be careful to only delete the folders containing itunes.msi
6. Clean out your temp folders, Delete as much as you can in these folders except for the folders Cookies, History, Temporary Internet Files.
a. C:\windows\temp (if one exists)
b. C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp
Sometimes installers will pick up old files or won’t delete their temporary files.
7. Go to http://www.download.com/3000-2094-881470.html and download the regcleaner. Unpack it and run it. This is a nice utility that will delete broken registry entries and create a file with them. This way if it deletes anything needed you can add it back. Note I never had to do this with using it for many years. Also it doesn't list XP but you'll be fine. I run XP on both.
8. Empty your recycle bin. Reboot your PC.
9. Now try to go and install everything again. I'd do QT first then follow with itunes. Remember to disable virus/firewall/privacy/web accelerators before launching the install.
If you still can't install then I might need a install log. However I'll give you those steps if these don't work.

}What my program ** tries to ** do is send messages from a client to a server with commands to either add, remove or lookup entries in a text file (the purpose in this case is for a DNS list)
It all seems to work ok, except for this section. To remove an entry, i am writing the current file to a new temporary file and just missing out the line that matches the users request. The original file is then removed, and the temporary file is renamed.
I am having intermittent results with the removal of the original file (I have commented this section to highlight), sometimes it works great, and others it fails. I have coded the removal of the file in this way for debugging reasons. Is there any obvious reason in my code for this? Any help is great...thank you! :)

I?d be interested to know what the System.out.println gives you although I have an idea. The reality is that the File.delete function is at the mercy of the system and if the system thinks the file is in use it won?t delete it. It?s a shame that you delete the file with all the important data and then rename a file that has the ?new? data. In my opinion you?re asking for trouble if something goes wrong and the temp file fails to ?rename? or in this case as I suspect, the file can?t be renamed because the file of the same name can?t be deleted. Interesting thought would be to have a dedicated directory and always look for the last mod file with a predetermined name format, and then do whatever you need to do to write the new file and at your convenience, delete all the others. I surely with I were smart enough to solve your problem.
KR
Walker
And what happens if there are multiple requests at the same time? Seems like there would be a better way to do it.

• Adobe XMP Files not deleted with Raw Files in ACR

I am using Photoshop CS3 on a Windows XP platform. My camera raw files are mostly kept on a Windows 2003 file server, which has a gigabit connection to my workstation. However, I have the same problems when using PS CS3 on my Windows XP laptop.
I take many hundreds of 'technical' photographs using an Olympus E1 and Canon G9 cameras. I usually bracket the exposures on the E1, specially when photographing white painted yachts, and then rate and select the images that I want in ACR 4.1.1. Unwanted images are deleted at this time.
The problem I am having is that the associated *.xmp files are not always deleted with the camera raw files, with the result that I now have literally thousands of these 'orphaned' files cluttering up the server. The only options I have are to delete the files manually, which is a pain, or to leave them on the server, wasting unnecessary space.
I have the same issue with Canon and Nikon raw files, so this problem is not specific to Olympus files.
This is a long standing problem, and I would be grateful if anyone has any answers?
If any Adobe programmers are watching, it would be handy if you could provide a simple utility to delete orphaned *.xmp files, or at least compress them into some kind of archive.
Thanks,
Nigel.
As far as Photoshop and ACR go, ALL raw files are treated as read-only.
Your original raw files remain untouched, no matter what you do to them.
Any adjustments you make to a raw file are kept only as metadata (flags, if you will) in that XMP side-car file. Every time you want to re-open that raw image file, ACR will reach for the XMP file and apply the adjustments automatically, transparently.
That is not quite correct. Camera RAW files can be permanently deleted from within Adobe Camera Raw. The problem with ACR 4.1 to 4.4 4 was that the XMP files were left behind. This now seems to have been rectified in the latest version (ACR 4.5).
Thank you Adobe!
