I am trying to delete the iCloud account on my iPhone that is associated with an old email address no longer in use, so I can set it up with my new email address. I am unable to delete the account until I turn off "Find my iPHone" which it won't let me do unless I log in under the old email address..... Problem is, I don't remember the password for the old address/account. It is no longer functional so I cannot request a reminder. I've already updated my iTunes/Apple ID with my new email address. I'm stuck!! Help!

For some reason, my iphone and my ipad are both stuck with the iCloud username of my old e-mail address. When I try to delete these accounts like other forums have indicated to do, it won't let me because every password possible comes up as invalid and the "forgot password" e-mail never comes. I was wondering if there was a way to delete the icloud account associated with my old e-mail without having a password and replacing it with the updated iCloud information.

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

Can't delete an iCloud account associated with old Apple ID

I had an Apple ID that used an email address from an old employer. When I switched employers, I went online and changed the email address and password associated with that Apple ID. When I used my phone after that I was told that it could no longer access iCloud because the settings were inaccurate. It was still trying to log in using the older Apple ID and password. I tried entering the old password, since it always brought up the old email. Didn't work. I tried deleting the account, but am required to delete "Find my iPhone" first, which I ultimately did, but it still asks me to sign into that before I can delete the iCloud account.
Can't seem to either change the iCloud settings in the phone, or to outright delete it so I can start over. I am beginning to think that I am going to have to redo the settings on the phone entirely.
Any ideas?

If you acquired content with the old Apple ID, you also forfeit the content. Content is forever associated with the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another nor does Apple merge IDs. It would be best to reacquire use of the ID than to abandon it if you have content because that is the only ID that can redownload the content or update it. Call Apple Care for your country and ask for the Account Security Team, then request help resetting the password for the account.
Otherwise, if none of that matters, just abandon the ID and everything associated with it, delete everything from your devices and libraries. Then create a new Apple ID and start over.

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your devices, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I'm in the same situation. I went from MobileMe to iCloud, and when I tried to use my MobileMe sign in, I got the messge that the username and email address was already in use. I created another one, and had two. I called Apple Support, and they told me that I had to keep both accounts. I had yet ANOTHER account for my iTunes, and Support told me that it was ok, if not good, to have separate logins for iTunes and iCloud. Currently, I have THREE iCloud accounts. If I have my iCloud settings on my phone set to "Mail - ON" my calendars sync up, but I can't receive email from my email account that I use for business. When I turn Mail off, I can receive emails, but my calendars are empty on the iPhone. The calendars on my Mac are there, but everything is duplicated at least once. IF - you changed your ID - go to Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out, sign in the the correct account. Apps that you purchased with the old ID have to be updated with that ID and are always tied to that old ID.

You can't delete an existing account, you can only choose to stop using it. It will still be there should you decide to use it again in the future.
