Delete TV show with a twist...
Hi, I purchased an Apple TV. It has a German TV show that I would like to delete.
In iTunes, I open the device Apple TV, click on TV Shows and there is the German show. However, it is grayed out. I can't seem to delete this show.
Also, it seems to be messing with syncing. I get an "!" after Apple TV. When I click on the exclamation mark, I get a message saying that this computer is not authorized to play the Apple TV content. Fine with me. I just want to dump the show.

Sounds as though you purchased it 2nd hand.
The file will be greyed out as it was bought with someone else's iTunes account so won't transfer to your iTunes. You may or may not be able to delete the file from AppleTV.
Go to settings on AppleTv and set up the store for your account (signup for one if you don't have one - no purchase needed).
If stuck hold down menu and down arrow until it reboots and when you get to the menu choose the factory/system restore option to erase everything to 'new' This requires you to set it up again via itunes and wipes all content on it. you may need to apply any recent software updates again if it has an older software version.

Re-downloading deleted songs? (with a twist)
Hey all,
So I got a new iPhone and downloaded the new iTunes (haven't used either in many years) and I figured 'what the heck ill figure it out.' So in my haste I started clicking the "cloud" icon next to most of my albums thinking I had to download them on my PC.
Then I start reading about the iCloud and figure "oh, why do I need these on my PC if they play from the Cloud?" So I just went into my PC Users and Deleted the songs from My Music and then from my Trash Can.
Upon logging back into iTunes the albums are still in my Library but when I try to play any of the songs (about 90 of them) they all have the "Can't locate file" error.
I am looking for help on finding how I can redownload these songs. [I have already tried looking under hidden purchases]

About a month ago a song randomly appeared in my songs list and when I tried swiping to the left to delete the song it wouldn't slide over to show the delete button. The delete slide appears with all of my other songs except that one. The ICloud songs are turned off and it wasn't iTunes Radio. 2 more songs like this have appeared and I can't delete them from both my iPhone or my computer (they don't even show up on my computer). If somebody knows how to fix this that would be amazing! Thank You.

I have songs showing with a cloud that my son at some time purchased that I want permanently deleted. They are not on any computer but can be downloaded by clicking on the cloud. I want them permanently deleted not hidden. Do not subscribe to iTunes Match.
Managing app updates with more than one Apple ID is overly complicated as you need to sign in and out of each account in turn, so you may want to avoid creating more accounts it either has been used to purchase apps. For media it isn't quite so bad, but Apple devices are limited to holding protected content from up to five Apple IDs so again I would caution against creating new accounts unless you really have to. I doubt that is the solution in this case. As given, if you hide the purchases in question, sign out, then sign in again, they should no longer appear unless already downloaded to the device, in which case delete them from it directly. In extreme cases where the device "knows" it has some piece of content on it that it won't let you access or delete the resolution is to backup the device, restore as a new device, then restore the backup you made earlier.
See also Use Parental Controls in iTunes to set content restrictions and Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing. I don't use either of these features so I don't have any practical expereince over and above what is in those support documents but perhaps they will help.

I deleted duplicate files with MacKeeper and now my firefox only shows text. I have reinstalled firefox, java, and checked all of my settings. Any ideas? Safari works fine.
I opened iCal back up, all the dates were blank, so i started to type events into a date.
As soon as I started to double click a date to type an event, magically all the events in all the months reappeared.
I'm still puzzled why it acted this way and if I did delete something that caused it to act this way. -
I am Manually Deleting Songs from my Ipad2, but when I press Delete, it shows a Cloud with a Red Arrow pointing down, and the Song remains, how do I get rid of the Song completely?.
The cloud icon means that the songs are only in the cloud, they aren't stored on your iPad. You can turn off the showing of songs that are in the cloud via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under the 'show all' heading) 'off'. How do I delete some shows I downloaded with Amazon prime from my mini iPad?
My iPad mini is getting full, so I'd like to delete the shows I've downloaded. Can I just delete the shows, or do I need to delete amazon prime, and then reinstall it?
The solution is:
1) Settings > Music > turn on "Show all music"
2) Open music app, and download all the songs that have the button next to it "cloud button".
3) After songs are download, swipe on the song you want to delete from right to left.
The download button will come back on, but ignore it.
4) Close music app.
5) Go back to settings, turn off "show all music" -
Robo v9 Show/Hide without Twisties - One button no longer working
Hey there, as stated I am using Robo v9 with Show/Hide without Twisties (One button) with javascipts. We have most of our images using DHTML drop-downs and when folks click on "Show All Images" on the page, the GIF changes to "Hide All Images" and all drop-downs (our images) and expanding text are diaplayed.
It had been working all the time, but now it only works when I right click the topic in the TOC and choose "Edit Topic", then while in the Edit Window (Display view), when I do a View (Ctrl-W) and it displays the page within RoboHelp..I can click the "Show All Images" and it works like it always had. BUT, if that page is not in the Edit Window, and I right click "Preview Topic", the click "Show All Images" (or on the DHTML dropdown itself) it will NOT show the images, *but the GIF image does properly toggle to "Hide All Images" (and if I do again, then it properly toggles to the "Show All Images" GIF, if I do it again), but now NO images are getting displayed for some reason. It also NEVER works properly when I publish to our website (even when clicking the DHTML dropdown itself), but the GIF images toggle properly.
If I right click and choose "Preview Topic" and click "View With" and use Internet Explorer 8 it still never works anymore, unless the topic is in the Edit Window (Display View), so I know the issue is not on the server. It stops working after I do a generate and run on my pc. Also when I view it IE8 within Robo (and Allow the Blocked Content to run the scripts), many instances of the same error is shown as:

I have a much older backup when restored, it all works properly again in all cases, but I have done so much work since then that I think would need to be manually redone. I have played with keeping those some javascipts alone (in case I changed something) and updated the rest of the data files I had added, deleted the .CPD file, but it somehow stops working again, probably with some updated file. I am not sure what specific files could be causing the negative impact that is preventing it from working. Maybe if I knew what files could impact, I couldrestore those from my old backup. The newer backups when restored do not work properly, so there was a point in time where something changed and is causing this.
All prior versions of RoboHelp (v7 and v8) have always worked and still do. I am using v9.0.1.262, as the latest version has not yet been allowed on our pcs (per security), but since my earlier backup works, I thought it may not be the issue, but wanted to tell you anyway. ;->
Any ideas on how I should proceed? What files may have impact to cause it not to work anymore? The showhide.js is the only .js to show up as a baggage file. Also, the DHTML line does exits in each html page's code, as we are still using Robo v7 as the production software and the Show/Hide always works, and I copy them into the respective Robo v9 folders (and if new, then I copy them, then import them), otherwise the newer v7 updated pages are copied over the older v9 html files while RoboHelp is closed.

It looks to all be dealing with the Robo automatic html coding of where to locate the .js file(s)...here is a quick overview of this issue and what I did. OK, here are my findings. EXAMPLE #1 and EXAMPLE #2 below are excerpts of the same file. EXAMPLE #1 is from Robo v7 and is copied to the v9 folder after it was updated so our soon to be "production" webhelp will be from Robo v9 (instead of making the same manual updates in Robo v9 as in Robo v7, I copy the updated the .html file to the Robo v9 file system). Note the direction of the directory slashes of the java scripts listed below, as they are all DOS type slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for ehlpdhtm.js as it is the ONLY one using UNIX (forward) slashes.

BUT since all .js files are referenced in EXAMPLE #1 have DOS slashes (back slashes), EXCEPT for the ehlpdhtm.js, I decided to change the line in ehlpdhtm.js FROM src="../../ehlpdhtm.js" TO src="..\..\ehlpdhtm.js" and IT (this one page) BEGAN WORKING AGAIN after I published. So having all DOS back slashes DOES work in Robo v9!!!! BUT it appears that Robo v9 only generates new pages using UNIX (forward) slashes in ALL coding. I've read about issues like this occurring with the FireFox browser, but we only use IE8, and have not read anything like this related to IE8 issues.
So if all UNIX forward slashes and all DOS back slashes can work in Robo v9 in finding and using ehlpdhtm.js, (the Show/Hide buttons function properly) why is this problem existing in Robo v9 when there are mixed "slashes" (using forward and backward)? ...and the mixed slashes ALWAYS works in Robo v7! They do not have to all be in the same direction in Robo v7 as it appears to have to be in the newer/more advanced Robo v9. Why does it matter that all slashes need to be all the same direction, if Robo v9 CAN actually read and figure out the DOS back slashes (formatted by Robo v7 creation) and actually generates UNIX forward slashes for the .js files in new Robo v9 output within the .html?
More importantly will I have to always do a Global search and replace in Robo v9 to change the direction of the "back slashes" when I copy updated Robo v7 .html files into the Robo v9 folders (instead of manually reworking each change), while in transition from v7 to v9?

i currently have a calendar synced that has events scheduled in perpetuity, scheduled as individual events. I would like to delete all events with the same title. I do not want to delete the entire calendar nor do I want to go into every event and delete individually. These were not scheduled by me so I do not know how they were added one by one and go on forever but they are NOT scheduled as reoccurring and thus must be modified individually.
I can do a search and find all events, is there a way to just delete all events with the same title all at once?
this is a Microsoft outlook synced calendar and I am seemingly unable to delete the events all at one time from Microsoft as well.
Please help!If you still have access to the Outlook calendar in Outlook, I would delete them from there. There are a number of ways to do that, but if you open the individual event in Outlook, does it show a repeating pattern? If not, then you may have to delete them individually, but that is not that difficult either. Go into the calendar and then change the view to a list view. From there you can sort the view according to subject. This should bring all of these same appointments together in the list and you can select the group in Outlook and delete them. Once you do that, you can change your view back and then sync the phone. That will remove the events from the phone.

You need to resync with iTunes. Unselect photos in iPhoto you don't want anymore.

How can I exchange all the images in a slide show with new ones
I have 18 slide shows each is a different competition for our camera club. How can I exchange all the images from each slide show with new images as our club competitions commence? I am reluctant to just delete the slide show because I will have set it all back up. I want to leave the size shape and format of the show as is, but just exchange all of the current images with new ones. I am hoping there is a quick way to delete and replace all images for each show? Each slide show has around 40 images and I have 18 shows

Restarting, deleting tv shows, and auto-sync
i have 3 questions....
1 - my tv seems to be restarting quite often. my tv is left on all the time, when i leave i just turn my tv off. recently, it seems when i turn my tv on my tv restarts. also, i don't know if this has anything to do with this, but ever since i've had my tv, when i turn on my tv you see the screensaver for a second, then the tv says "no signal" and the screen goes blank. then after a few seconds the screen saver comes back on, there's a loud popping sound from the speakers, and you can then operate everything normally. does anyone know how to resolve this restarting issue?
2 - how do you delete a tv show? previously, i remember that you could move to the left of a show with the remote and a little trash can would appear to delete that show. was this changed in an update?
3 - i bought a season pass to tv show and i get the email every week that tells me there's a new episode available, but it never gets automatically downloaded to my tv like it should (my itunes password is remembered). in addition, when i know a new show is available and go to check for downloads, it doesn't even find the new episode. in order to get the new show i must download it to my imac, which must sync to my tv when it's done. i would like to have my tv automatically download new episodes of a series i have a season pass to. how do i do this?
any guidance, ideas, or even just simple hellos are much appreciated. thanks!

Delete/Erasing shows from my AppleTV? How does memory work?
I am completely confused as to deleteing material and freeing up memory as well as how things will automatically delete.
When I have shows listed in my menus (My TVshows, My Movies) sometimes there is a little trash can next to them to erase, and other times that option is not there. I have no idea why this option is appearing and disappearing.
Is there any system (like a DVR) that once you have watched shows the AppleTV will make room for new shows by deleting old shows? I dont think so, right? I think it just creates a list in the "downloading" menu of stuff to download once memory is free.
Is there some kind of alert when the memory is full that you need to erase shows to make room for new shows?
I did another post about this, but in case someone can answer, once you delete a show it is gone for good, right? If I want to download it again, it says I have to "rebuy" it.Do not rush to factory restore before looking into things further, especially if your unit shipped with software 1.0.
AppleTV1 was never designed to run completely standalone - it is linked at the hip with iTunes.
AppleTV1 was designed to be synced with media from iTunes which appears in My Music, My Movies etc.
If it's full and iTunes is running you will also see content under My Music etc that will stream from the computer on demand provided itunes is running (unless you turn this option off in iTunes).
When configured to sync with iTunes AppleTv goes into an Auto sync mode where it decides what to copy over to the unit - so unwatched material before watched etc. You can customise this if you want under various Device Settings tabs displayed when selecting an AppleTV Device in itunes (left hand side) - do you see an icon? If not it may not be synced to this itunes.
Later the ability to purchase directly arrived too, but the idea was for purchases made on the unit to sync back to iTunes to keep the devices 'in sync' and to allow for backups. The trash can I believe only appears for items purchased on it. so you could manually delete them.
There is also a streaming only mode to connect additional itunes libraries on other computers 'My Shared Music etc'.

Previously if things you bought on the unit did not sync back to itunes and AppleTv failed or there was a problem with 'reverse sync' (my term) that prevented it working you might not be able to salvage that content and could not redownload it.
We need to know what software version you have - Settings>About (3.02 is the last one), and if you have the unit synced with iTunes still - does an icon appear in itunes under Devices (right click it and Transfer Purchases if you can to copy stuff over to iTunes bought on the unit directly).
Last year/early this year Apple has sensibly allowed users to redownload any previous account purchases from the itunes Store in itunes - ensure you have latest version of iTunes and navigate to teh store home page - on the right under Quick Links you should see Purchased - here will be a list of things you can redownload for free under that itunes account. The catch? So far movies only available for redownload in the US and not all studios are on board. Other content can be redownloaded in many countries, but if an item is no longer in the store or has changed somehow (think of a change in the product code) it won't be available. Check here to see what you could salvage by redownloading for free.
Factory restore will put you back to shipping software and delete any synced media from the unit - some say purhcases made on Apple TV remain if not 'reverse synced' but I would not rely on this unless it was a last resort to restore it.

Is it safe to delete TV shows from my HDD
Basically a repeat of this question : "Now that my tv shows are in the cloud, is it safe to delete them from my hard drive to make more room? Theoretically, I can redownload them if needed, or is it best to have a physicsl backup of them?"
The answer they got was : "iCloud is still in Beta. I would recommend that you try with one show, make a copy of it and then try out. But wait until iCloud and Lion 10.7.2 is out." However, this was in august 2011.
I was wondering if iCloud is out of beta yet (i don't recall the word beta being written next to it any of the times i've seen it) and it would now be safe to do so. I'm running out of room on my hard drive so i was considering getting a time capsule to store new films, but if i can just delete tv shows my problem will be sovled for quite a while.iCloud is no longer in beta.
At this time, not all content are eligible for redownload.
Go to the iTunes store > purchased > TV shows | music | movies
You will then have the list of all the content that you redownload.
You can make backups if you want of the one that can't be redownloaded.
if you want to backup the others, you can do it but it will take some space on your HD.
